Back in the 90s, I used to frequent a place called Tia's, and I still think about their sour cream chicken nachos to this day. Nothing ever quite compared... until now. A friend recently asked if I had tried the sour cream chicken nachos at Cafe Gecko, and let me just say, they are phenomenal. I can't speak to the pizza since I've never tried it, even though I've seen some mixed reviews on here. But honestly, I keep coming back for one thing and one thing only, those nachos. They are absolutely five star and totally hit that nostalgic craving I've had for years. We always grab a seat at the bar, and the service is consistently top notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes the whole experience even better. The atmosphere is your typical sports bar, nothing fancy, but comfortable and easy to relax in. If you're even remotely a fan of sour cream chicken nachos, do yourself a favor and try these. They are worth it. read more

Café Gecko in Fairview is a great neighborhood spot. An easygoing sports bar vibe. Bartenders are always friendly, funny, and easy to chat with which really adds to the atmosphere. The food's solid across the board, but the burger is my absolute favorite. The buns they use are hands-down the best around: soft, actually flavorful, and they hold up perfectly. I order it with fries and a side of honey mustard. Also, make sure to ask for pickles if you want - they dont normally come with ti. Parking can be a little tricky during peak hours since it's in the town center, so plan ahead if you're coming during dinner or a big game. I was just feeling a little snackish while waiting for my bf to finish work, so I looked up dog friendly places close by and Cafe Gecko was one of the choices, so I went over. I called to be sure dogs were welcomed and they are, leashed in the patio, so my pup and I went and sat down; Melissa was my wonderful waitress and immediately brought my pup some water and was so super friendly; she was great and is also behind the bar. The space is large inside and the patio super comfortable. At 3:00pm, it was still quiet. Happy hour starts at 3pm. I ordered chips and queso and an order of waffle fries - the queso was nice and goey with just the right amount of heat, and it also came with salsa that was also delicious; the waffle fries were hot and crispy and well seasoned. Their menu looks good and I'd love to come back for dinner; they also have lunch specials from 11-3 that look great too! Went here on a Tuesday night for birthday celebration! It's a sports bar atmosphere so it's very loud & noises. Definitely not the place to come tonight you are looking to have a conversation. Needless to say, the food was cooked well with great portions! This is a great girls night out or boys I'll be boys kind of place. Thee is adequate outdoor seating & area for kids & dogs. Everyone enjoyed their meals & drinks. I'll go back just for the queso (forgot a picture). And the fish sandwich was awesome, but I might try it cooked blackened next time just to try a different method of cooking. The wait staff was excellent & very friendly. What a terrible experience for regulars. We were advised a few days prior that they were having a toy drive and given a flyer. Came in a few days later with $100 worth of toys in tote and the staff had no clue about this drive all while seeing the flyers behind the bar. After deciding to drive 15 miles and go out of our way we came and sat on Gecko Cafe's patio on a beautiful Fall day. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Everything was fine until our food was delivered. My wife's Chicken Spinach Salad was delivered without any Spinach???? How is this possible? My daughter's Turkey Melt was delivered with cold fries. My blackened chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry and after the server said she would get me some Buffalo sauce I had to waive her down 5 minutes later to remind her. But all of this was nothing compared to my son's $14 Cheesesteak sandwich which came out very disappointing with enough steak for 1/2 a sandwich and a half order of fries. After we alerted the server she took the sandwich and the salad back to the kitchen. Then a few minutes later the manager came out and she said this is what this sandwich supposed to look like. (He's actually ordered it before and it had lots more meat and definitely more fries.) I told her he's ordered it before and it's never looked this pitiful. Now the sandwich has been walked around the restaurant a couple of times and definitely cooled off. She then implied in her condescending tone this is all your getting with this. I said fine, just leave it but we just won't come back. I then told her I don't need any of her attitude either. She said "I'm not giving you attitude" but it was obvious she was not interested in making anything right or offering something else. At this point she attempted to make a half hearted apology. I told her to save her apology its too late and obviously not sincere. No one ever came to check on us again. Crickets! Just ignored. Our waitress did finally fill up our water, but no one asked about anything. My wife thought maybe they would have offered a free appetizer or dessert hoping to make amends for the disappointing experience. Nothing. I wish Dennis was there. Most above average restaurants give you more than you expect, not less. Next time we'll just go around the corner to Gloria's were they also have a great patio and service is always outstanding. Went for the first time for brunch and it was nice. The options are all light and pretty standard. I'm a firm believer that you can't do wrong with breakfast food, so it was good and let my standard. Nothing about my meal was spectacular so I considered giving this place a 3 star rating, but the service was great, the location the nice, and they serve mimosas by giving you the whole champagne bottle so that deserves a 4!! read more

Brought my mom here for a weekday lunch. I really loved the menu, a good mix of classic items, and fresher items that are a little more contemporary. There seemed to be only 1 or 2 waitresses (sign on the door said "Please be patient we are understaffed") but our waitress did a great job despite being heavily pregnant and came back to us often. I've been eating here for a few years now and I've never had a bad meal... the pizzas are hard to pass up because they're so delicious but I have so many favorites that I have to squeeze them all in. The sour cream chicken nachos are my newest favorite and the shrimp cocktail and seafood pasta hot and spicy are my seafood faves.. anything with the blackened seasoning is to die for especially when paired with their homemade honey mustard.. Stopped in yesterday for lunch,with my daughter, sat ourselves per the sign. We were seen to quickly by the bartender/waitress, she was super sweet, got our drinks right away. We ordered the stuffed jalapeños, shrimp cocktail and a Cajun chicken pasta The shrimp cocktail was delicious as well as the Cajun chicken pasta salad, the stuffed jalapeños were definitely a hard pass. I'm not sure what the end result was suppose to be but it was a big miss. Textures were terrible and no flavor profile to speak of in the breading or the chicken mixture. Love this place, have been going to the last two locations for almost twenty years. Consistency is king! This trip we wanted to give special recognition to the waitress on the floor (Shelbie) The entire visit she never stopped moving, even when it seemed overwhelming. There was another person working but Shelbie handled the bar and floor like all everybody else was on their phone or sitting at tables with their friends. When my wife first suggested this place I wasn't excited...with their name I had no idea what to expect. I was thinking something along the lines of sandwiches and wraps where everyone is drinking Topo Chico, ugh...I WAS WAAAAAYYYY WRONG!!! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!. we've been 3 times now and everything has been so good. First time the jerk chicken strips, so tender and full of flavor. Second visit I tried the sammich, grilled chicken with ham and cheese on a jalapeño cheese bun. This was AWESOME!!! oh I still dream of that bun, so soft and so tasty. third visit I decided to try the sour cream and chicken enchiladas because their sour cream and chicken nachos caught my eye but since we ordered chips and queso I didn't want more chips. these were hands down the BEST sour cream and chicken enchiladas I've ever had, beats any Mexican restaurant SC&C enchiladas. I'm thinking to myself, this can't get any better but wait, the borracho beans that came with the meal were the best I've ever had. This little bar in Fairview just gave me the best SC&C enchiladas and best borracho beans I've ever had, how is this possible? some things are just meant to be great and this place is definitely one of them. besides the food the mixed drinks are pretty awesome too and never weak. Being from California we had high expectations since a lot of neighbors around us told us about Gecko when we first moved here of places nearby to check out. We were not disappointed. Energetic atmosphere, solid food and beverage menu, & , most important, friendly staff. The girls behind the bar make you feel normal & part of a family verse the teeth-pulling-small-talk with some local bartenders in the area. We literally, literally walk over every Wednesday for wine bottles at half priced. They know to keep Alexander Valley in stock for us as it's our GO-TO wine; and we know the winery owners. read more

It's OK bar in Fairview parking is terrible. Food is what you would expect from a bar. Service is mediocre but the ambience is very bar like and chill. They have plenty of TVs to watch sports and one pool table. They have a large patio area and a big door that opens up to expose the restaurant to fresh air. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner and overall we weren't very impressed. They have a dog friendly patio which is a plus, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food though is not worth the price and really mediocre. My husband ordered a pizza and kept it simple with cheese. It tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza. Really cheap and like something you would make for a kid. There are so many better options for pizza around here, I recommend staying away from the pizza here. I got a salad with shrimp, and it was pretty okay, but not anything I would rush back to get. Shrimp were good, but you can tell they were the little frozen shrimps that you can get from the grocery store. Overall, I felt like the ingredients weren't quality, and the taste of everything was pretty mediocre. I do love the patio and the area they are in, and the staff was great. Been there twice in the last two weeks and sat outside under covered patio both times. The sour cream chicken nachos are the best nachos I've ever had in my life. Nice and strong frozen margs. They don't have a long list of beer on drafts but you can't have everything. Good service as waitresses double teamed tables to help each other. Watched sports on the two patio TVs.
