Delicious dinner at Venezia Tratorria! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal including stuffed mushrooms, a salad, and pasta dishes. Our waitress was very kind and attentive, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and feels very on theme. Our one note would be the young bartender who spent a lot of her time and our meal time complaining to her coworkers behind the bar and in the office near the bar which was located very close to our table. We've been meaning to try this place for awhile, looking for the perfect Mom-and-Pop Italian restaurant in the area and Venezia Trattoria did not disappoint! The decor is very tasteful- almost can't believe the place is a refurbished Steak-and-Shake! Promptly greeted and seated, by a very personable server. The Bruschetta was light and tasty. Delicious and friendly Found Venezia for Happy Hour and can't stop going for the smiling faces and some of the best Marsala I've ever had. Tuesday through Friday from 3-6 pop in for a glass of The Prisoner for $14, an order of the Baked Meatballs (2) $5, and the crab Stuffed Mushrooms (3) $7. Maybe 2 more glasses of wine. You'll find me sitting at the bar most places I visit so I can get to know the staff and their patrons. Allison is fantastic and the charming Tony will ensure you're attended to. Last night our family finished up an art activity in downtown McKinney. We were starving afterwards and I didn't think to make reservations on a Saturday night. We went to a few spots in downtown and there was an hour plus wait at 7:15pm everywhere. So I googled spots near by and this place popped up and we were semi close. I'm not going to lie my husband and I didn't have high expectations of this place; but we were grateful that they had tables available. We were instantly greeted upon arrival; the place was busy, we were sat within seconds. Our waitress was very sweet, juggling several tables, and doing a great job. They have a nice selection on the menu; we started out with the stuffed mushrooms and the baked meatballs. The mushrooms were really tasty, the meatballs were decent. We ordered the tortellini soup, it was good. My husband's dish was the best, he got the vodka tortellini; the pink sauce was really great. I got the chicken piccata and the kids got the lasagna and the cheese ravioli with alfredo. Everything came out rather quickly. Portions were good. And no one complained about the food taste wise. Arrived at lunch time and was surprised at how loud it was on a weekday. However, the experience over-weighed and was very pleased with the service and food. Last Wednesday we went to Venezia Trattoria for the 3rd time and I'm not sure if we will go back again or not. The first two times were excellent in every way - the wait staff was attentive, cordial, and appropriate for the price point of the food. The food on both prior visits was exceptional - my spouse and child both had the Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken (both visits - they loved it so much the first time the wanted it again) while I chose the Chef's Special both times. The pasta, sauce, and protein all tasted as though they were made fresh with quality ingredients by a trained chef. This recent visit was vastly different: the service was the same, but the food tasted as though the owners had decided to severely cut costs by swapping out all of the house-made items with frozen or pre-packaged slop. Olive Garden tastes better than what we got this time. And when we asked for some parmesan cheese, we were brought one of those little round shakers of store-bought white sawdust that pizza parlors keep on their tables. read more

Tonight was our second time at Venezia Trattoria. The food was okay but the service was slow and our waitress made a comment when the servers arrived with our food that assured tonight is the last time I will ever come to this restaurant. Our waitress told the servers that the lasagna goes to the guy who looks like he ordered lasagna. What does that even mean? The owner did come by early in our meal to make sure everything was all right and maybe she didn't mean anything by her statement but it crossed the line for me. read more

I love that they have tinted windows and it's not glaring bright inside. My only complaint about my visit is the chairs are a little uncomfortable. The food and service were excellent. We had some tap beer, mozz sticks, and the fettuccini alfredo with chicken. They came with salad and the plates were chilled and it was a nice way to start the meal. The mozz sticks weren't special, but the alfredo was made with love and was very creamy and delicate. The noodles didn't look hand made but they weren't bad and were better than what you get at olive garden. The chicken was also cooked well and not too dry. Their lemoncello cake is also great. This place has quickly turned into a work day favorite. Everyone I've taken there has liked it. Everything we've had there has been delicious. My favorite so far is the lasagna. It is on the cheesier side but so, so good. I love that their lasagna and meatballs are made from beef. Most places use a beef and pork mix that we can't have because we don't eat pork. Their bread is good and they bring out already softened butter so you're not tearing the bread while you're trying to spread the butter. The chicken dish I had was delicious and moist. The service is next level. Every staff member we've encountered has been so good. They're all friendly, professional, and respectful. The ambiance is welcoming. I love what they did wit the bar area and the ceiling. They definitely catch your eye. They have great lunch specials that fill you up and are very well priced. By way of location...Venezia is very close to Trader Joe's and across the street from Dutch Bros. Tonight we dined at Venezia and everyone was so friendly and smiling, you can tell they hire nice people to work here and that they love their jobs. Favorites tonight were the Tortellini Vodka, Manicotti, and Chicken Parm. Normally one might see one hostess and then the waitstaff but here I bet we interacted with 10 people. Our server came by the table multiple times to ensure our food came out well, and was on the ball with remember condiments and specific substitutions and additions we had requested. The atmosphere was great, playing true Italian hits, beautiful decor, and the perfect noise level to enjoy without struggling to hear your guests. Food was equally as amazing. We had an array of different entrees and appetizers. The highlight for me was the Veal and Tortellini Vodka. Both dishes were a step above if comparing to local competition. Desserts were good, but not anything I'd rave about. I felt the creme brûlée had too much sugar on the top for my liking. My husband and I went Saturday night for a nice Italian dinner. The service was terrific, our waitress was very attentive and personable. We were seated right away at a nice table I loved that it was quiet enough that you could have a conversation and hear each other. I hate it when a restaurant is so loud that you can't hear yourself think. I ordered the chicken Jerusalem and my husband got the veal parm. Both were delicious and we had leftovers to take home. After dinner we were talking with our waitress, she asked if we wanted dessert. We were so full that we said no, she said her mother makes all of the different crème brûlée desserts. This is our second time to come this restaurant for dinner and it's really good. The ambience are really nice. The servers really know their menu very well and they give amazing service. It's a family owned business and they really put a lot of focus on quality, customer service and making you feel like you're the number one customer. We plan to go back and try their lunches and then one of their pizzas soon. We also have a very good chef special menu and decent happy hours with appetizers. I ordered the Chilean sea bass on the specials board that said it came with risotto. I was halfway home and saw I had spaghetti so I called and was told I could come pick up rice if I wanted.
