My husband and I visited Southerner's on Royal Oaks this morning on the way to an errand. We waited about 30 minutes for 2 lattes and a breakfast sandwich, which felt quite long for a drive-thru. Our order was for 1/2 sweet lattes (correctly written on the cups), but both came out much sweeter than requested--my husband's was so sweet he couldn't drink it. The breakfast sandwich, which was around $4, seemed heavily microwaved and was very hard around the edges, making it difficult to eat. While waiting at the front, we could hear the baristas chatting and laughing quite a bit. It gave the impression that there wasn't much urgency, even though several cars were waiting in line. We really do love what this business stands for and genuinely want to support local places like this. However, based on this experience, the long wait time, lack of order accuracy, and food quality makes it difficult for us to justify returning. :( read more

There should really be a sign out front that says how long it's going to take to get your coffee here. I had time to write this while sitting in the drive thru for over 45 minutes. The girl came out to my car and took my order 10 minutes in, and once you get into the main part of the drive thru there is no getting out. I don't think I've ever waited 45 minutes in line for coffee. Even with 10 cars in front of me. It was busy, no doubt, but kinda crazy to wait OVER 45 minutes for coffee. 1 latte. 1 bag of coffee beans, and they had no bags and gave me the coffee in a big cup, uncertain if this is the same size or amount of beans as the bag would have been? Southerners Coffee is still one of the best in the city! I'm updating my review because not only did they revamp the menu they added cute cans for the 16oz iced coffee. You can get the cans with ice or without. I have had them both ways. I like to grab one without ice to enjoy Southerner's on my way into work. Just add ice pop the top and add to your favorite insulated cup. Recently my newest addiction is Cinnamon bun breve. My OG favorite is Daydreamer. I love all the locations honestly because customer service no matter the drive thru is always 10/10. Make sure if you visit more than once grab a punch card! I tried the Orchard brew with the white coffee bean. The barista had me try it at the window and I did not like it. She was so kind to make me a new one that I actually enjoyed. Most of the time when service workers have to remake something. They have an attitude and she was so nice polite, and kind did not make me feel wrong for not liking it. Which I 100% appreciate. I stuck with a classic latte (solid and smooth), while my boyfriend's 20 oz Cuban was tasty but very sweet--definitely for sugar lovers. I have been sleeping on this spot and underestimated it. We were a bit confused on whether to walk up or drive thru, we learned both are welcome! It's located in the Aldi plaza parking lot off Royal Oaks Blvd. They have such unique lattes and I thought upon reading the menu it would be too sugar heavy but was pleasantly surprised by how strong and balance it was with the espresso!!! We heard this place was good so we found it in a parking lot in front of HomeGoods. I don't necessarily think it's a drive-through but people use it that way so why not? You can walk up or you can drive up. One of the employees came out and took our order from the car window. He suggested that we try the campfire as it's the most popular drink iced or hot and also the new Cuban Blackberry Bloom. we got a 24 ounce of each one. The campfire was very sweet and the coffee almost nonexistent. The Cuban blackberry Bloom was a very different taste. You could definitely taste the blackberry, but it was a soft taste and not overpowering at all. The girl that made our drink made sure that we liked the blackberry bloom before driving off that was very nice of her to have us taste it just in case. read more

As someone with a nut allergy, coffee shops can be a bit stressful. However after explaining my nut allergy the baristas were SO KIND and cautious, checking every ingredient and ensuring they were extremely diligent. This was my first visit to Southerner's Coffee. I found this location searching Yelp when I was nearby. I passed the shop initially as this is a small drive-up coffee shop. The Americano was very good and the coffee bean on top was a nice touch! There was only a short wait to order and I experienced pleasant, friendly service. One of the baristas let me know which beans they were serving and informed me the location also sells coffee beans. Definitely worth a try if you're in/near the area. read more

One of my favorite places to grab a quick coffee in the Nashville area. Every time I'm in town I have to make a point to stop. Both locations are drive through only, but the drinks make the lack of seating 100% worth it. That have all kinds of homemade syrups and drinks. I always go for their natural energy drinks that are almost a cross between a slushee and a smoothie. They have items made for kids too so bring the family! Fast, friendly service by a local business. Lots of unique sweet coffee drinks on the menu as well as some small bites. I'm not much of a sweet coffee drinker, but of course they still make regular/plain coffee and espresso drinks even if you can't find it on the menu right away. Love the shack drive thru concept and convenience, but you gotta know how to craft the drinks too. I usually order a latte as a first time experience at a new place. My theory is if you can steam the milk and extract a couple good shots you can likely make everything else pretty well. Unfortunately this place couldn't do either. The milk was just warm milk void of micro bubbles and though there were two shots (paid extra for the shot) it tasted like there was only one. So I had two sips, poured the rest out and was out $5, plus tip. I had a hunch the drink was going to be sub par when it was handed to me about the time we did the money exchange. Can't craft a drink that fast. I'll probably give the place another try to see if it was an off day with an untrained barista at the machine. read more

Really great coffee. You can taste the coffee even if you get a specialty drink. I got a mocha and it was delicious. Someone else in my party got a dirty chai, a vanilla latte, the signature drink. All of them were delicious. The service was quick even with all our separate orders. The person in the car behind us waited the entire time for 5 drinks to be made so that told me the drinks would be worth it. I love the mission statement and the guy taking the orders and payments was very chill. read more
