This is an amazing cafe. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a Paris bistro. The food is exceptional and the owners are wonderful.

I ordered a cup of Lavender Gelato and OMG, it was so fresh, smooth, and delicious . The sweetness was so satisfying, not too sweet and it didn't lack sweetness. I ordered a cheesecake pastry to take back to my hotel room for a snack later on. Service: The people of Kerrville and the Kerr County area have been through a lot over the past year. As survivors, they are resilient and believe in being there for one another. I had a list of questions for the young gentleman who took care of me that day. The questions were regarding the products in the shop, his experience as a Kerr County resident, and what he has witnessed in terms of the before and after the floods. He was very kind, patient, empathetic, and professional yet people friendly. He knew the products very well which is not always the case in various establishments. The way he provided top notch customer made me want to return the next day and I did. I will be back the next time I am in town. Atmosphere: The store was clean, beautifully decorated and quite welcoming. If you're ever in the area, please take the time to visit Pookie's Patisserie and try a cup of coffee, pastries, gelato and/or a savory treat. You will not regret it.

I ordered an almond croissant, lemon pound cake slice, lemon mousse, and tiramisu for a slightly high price of $40. I didn't realize until I got home that the lemon and tiramisu were on a platter with a logo from Baklovah, a bakery in San Antonio. I googled the shop, and found a photo of the identical dessert I had just ordered. The desserts were very good, but I can't justify a business upcharging me for another bakery's goods, when I could've gone to Baklovah and supported the bakers who actually made them. I don't know, maybe this is common practice and I'm just completely out of the loop, but I assumed I was supporting a small bakery that made their items in house.

Anyway, it was a glorious day after 3 days of good soaking rain, which we badly needed in the hill country. The food has always been top notch grade here. The service is very efficient and professional. As for the ambience, the inside is bright and well lighted but to be impressed, you have to go outside. Since it was a glorious day of bright sunshine, coolish temperature and a very friendly breeze blowing, we had a time walking around the area. The surrounding area was lush and very green after the few days of rain! We had a lovely time taking pictures. My brother in law was very surprised about the camel story behind Camp Verde. Camels were used as experimental animals to carry provisions in the 1850's. They were stationed in this area. Unfortunately, the experiment failed because the soldiers hated the camels, who had a reportedly nasty disposition and soldiers ended up with motion sickness because of the animal's unusual walking gait. If you want to visit the area, now is a good time before the summer heat gets here. FYI, if you like Christmas, the gift shop here gets an early start in October! If you like Christmas decorations like my wife, come here and shop. They really fill up the gift shop with goodies!

I did stop by the general store and enjoy the many trinkets and original finds. They even have a working post office. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave me a history lesson on the store and post office. You will not be disappointed by stopping by. Old history vibes.

I have no expectations about the food here - especially fish and chips. Ever since I tasted fish and chips in England many years ago, there's not a place in Texas that comes close to British fish and chips. So, imagine my surprise when this cod fish dinner at Culver's was placed in front of me to eat. Cod is the only fish I will eat for fish and chips. This fast food place has cod! Not only that, for a limited time, they have Walleye fish and chips dinner! I went to town on this fish dinner. Bought one each and took home the walleye dinner for tonight's dinner. Anyway, the fish was cooked almost perfectly - just a little oily but this is a fast food place not a British pub! That first bite was crunchy, hot and surprisingly delicious! I was able to finish 2 of the 3 I had ordered. It came with Cole slaw, a roll and of course French fries. What a surprise that was! As for the walleye dinner, I had to eat it the next day. It got reheated in the air fryer and it came out hot, crunchy and oh, so tasty! Ambiance wise, the place is refrigerator cold. If ever I go back there during lent this year, I will bring a jacket! Overall, I'm very impressed with the food. It's not British pub quality but for a fish and chips place in Kerrville, TX, this was quite a very nice surprise. I would go back there for fish and chips. England across the pond is quite a long way from here for the real fish and chips but I'll take Culver's fish and chips any time the mood hits me.
