Came in on an early morning and waited about 10 minutes for anyone to come out to serve us. There was only one other customer in the lobby. I ordered the Twix and there was no sweetener added to the drink so it tasted like a plain latte. Inside was cute but I won't be returning soon. read more

We were up from San Antonio, housesitting for family, and came across this delightful spot in the downtown district. I knew we were in good hands when I spotted the La Marzocco machine. It's a top of the line espresso machine, and a good indicator of high quality. Pax's inviting ambience is a mix of whimsy and quirkiness that reminded me of 1990's coffee houses... nostalgia counts for something. We enjoyed a featured Day and Night cold brew and a hot double espresso. Delicious! The espresso was bright and smooth... the La Marzocco did good! The featured drink was delicious, sweet without being syrupy, and refreshing. Save room for the pastries! I had the "almond joy" cookie... Chef's kiss! Highly recommend. Cheers! read more

Pax consistently pours a great cup of coffee - iced and hot. My go to is the Day and Night with an occasional Bees Knees. On this visit, my younger sister tried the Kerrvillian - I had a taste and will definitely order it for myself sometime. My disappointment and they subtraction of a star came from the pastries I purchased to share with the family. My mom's favorites used to be the scones, but the past few times she had them she said they were very dry. The last time I was there, I got her a blueberry muffin which she said was delicious. So, on this trip, I got the coffee cake) which we had had before and loved) as well as another blueberry muffin for my mom. Sadly everything was horribly dry. I don't know if perhaps they were left over from the day before or just not cooked right but they certainly weren't good and after a couple of bites, ended up in the trash. I will continue to buy coffee at Pax, but I'm giving up on the pastries. read more

Definitely a cute place- and pretty busy on a sleepy Sunday morning. Blue and gold interior and plenty of seating (but all very close together, so it feels a bit crowded). We're not staying, but it's all hard metal and wood seating. The barista is BANGING things around making coffee, so don't plan to do any work or conference calls here. Ordered the usual: decaf flat white with heavy cream. No heavy cream. Bummer. No lids for the small to go cups. Ooookay. The pasty case looks tempting but I'm just not into it this morning. And the coffee is ho-hum. Lacking in every measure. Weak coffee flavor, sad thinness to the steamed milk. Overall, not worth finishing. Bummer. Knocked a star for the lack of heavy cream, it's just what I do, and that brings this place to a two star. read more

Got the Day & Nice cold brew that comes with caramel & vanilla but I asked for no caramel. It sucks! Very bitter. Tried to sweeten it with sugar raw but no improvement. I didn't expect much in their baked good selections but the ones on display did not look appetizing. I ordered a bees knees iced coffee, which was good but I can't say that it's my favorite - I would probably try something new next time! I also got a blueberry bagel with cream cheese, and holy cow did I receive some cream cheese! I had to wipe the majority of the cream cheese off on my plate because there was so much on the bagel - which you can kind of tell by my picture. My total for both items was over $15, which I think is too pricey for what I received. There was a lot of seating availability, but I can't say that it's very comfortable seating. The tables are very close together, so I could overhear every word of the conversation at the table next to me. Overall the coffee and bagel were okay, and the seating was also okay. It's a very cute shop to stop in and grab a quick coffee, but I wouldn't go here if your looking for a place to sit down for a few hours and get some work done. read more

REALLY expensive coffee. Super sweet in flavor which was kind of a bummer, I couldn't finish the drink. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, along with the barista. She wasn't very helpful in recommending a drink, but she was very nice overall. I don't foresee myself choosing to return, $8 for a cuppa that was far too sweet for me just isn't my speed. Upon entry, no one said hello...so off to a great start. The barista gave off the vibe that I was inconveniencing her. I order an Americano that was 3/4 filled and was not a pleasant taste. I was going to stay to do some work, but I was so put off by the atmosphere and lack of a water station to even bother pulling out my laptop. At least the bathrooms are spacious and tidy. I. LOVE. COOKIES! And these did not disappoint. I had the chocolate peanut butter. It was the perfect amount of crispy and chewy. They're also huge! My friend had ordered a baker's dozen (variety) for a wedding party. I was also lucky enough to try a butterscotch oatmeal cookie. It was still warm so it fell apart - bad for the wedding party but good for me since she removed it from the box. Go there for the cookies and pastries but not the customer service. I asked a question about the cookie and the response wasn't very nice. My friend, who spent $88 on cookies wasn't treated any better. Maybe I just expect too much??? read more

Love the cute small business. They have some food- I had a turkey sandwich and was delicious. I had the "nutty professor" which was yummy- I just didn't like all the nutmeg on top but I still devoured it. I also had a chai with vanilla and I am now craving it- it was so good. Not spicy but sweet but she said you can do either or. Each table along the wall has outlets. It was cold so being a sweater if you plan on staying long and get cold like I do. If you have furry friends- they have dog treats that looked free and tables outside so your fur babies can join. Music level was perfect so I could still work or have conversations. read more

Our group tried a few scones, hot chocolate, butter pecan latte, and dark roast drip coffee. Everything came out delicious, flaky pastry and latte wasn't overly sweet. Drip coffee was good enough not to need any milk or creamer. Staff was thoughtful in making suggestions and telling us which bakery items were fresh. My husband and i came after about a year to give this place another try since it's right downtown, however we were slightly disappointed again - not necessarily with customer service this time, we were greeted well. The coffee was sub-par, par at best. The reason for 3 stars is because the price we paid for a drip coffee and a small "specialty drink" was nearly $13. The price just seemed a bit steep for the quality of what we received. Pulled up to this spot, which honestly is hard to see from the outside and weren't sure if it was open. I walked in an Aaron was setting up tables and happily got what I needed. Really nice space, coffee was great and the scones were perfect. Aaron also went out of his way to ask what my weekend plans were and we got to chatting about our cross country journey. Stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast and will not be return customers. Shame as the ambience is outstanding. Service & food were so bad that negative stars would be required, with magnitude of inverse logarithms of googleplex factorial being somewhat inadequate. Drip coffee was 'meh' at best. My wife's latte took 10+ min to arrive and another 30+ min to cool to an acceptqble temperature to drink. Taste mediocre at best there, too. It took another 10 to fifteen minutes after my wife's latte arrived to get the farce they pass off as avocado toast. One piece of a standard bread loaf with less than a centimeter of avocado smashed atop it with 2 to three slivers of red onion & a dash of spice. Proof's in the pic. The kicker - THEY WERE NOT BUSY!! Stopped by for a mocha latte during my lunch break. Parking was a bit of a challenge, so I did have to walk a bit. I was greeted right away upon entering. It was a very cute little coffee shop, and I would have loved to sit and enjoy my latte there if I had more time as there was plenty of places to sit and even some stools by the window. The latte was delicious, and well made. Just enough mocha flavor without being overly sweet. It ran me about $5 for a 12 oz latte which I feel is pretty standard. I'd definitely stop in again. They have some interesting signature drinks on their menu as well as some food options that I'm looking forward to trying. read more

Stopping in here to work before my first appointment. It's a charming little coffee shop. One you would expect to find in a small Texas town. It's open with windows across the front. Unfortunately, it's a dreary day. Otherwise, it'd be bright in here. It's decorated in mellow blue shades. There is free WiFi which is essential in a coffee shop. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel which was yummy. And an Americano coffee. It was also very tasty. I can see that they also serve beer, wine and heartier food for later in the day. I've now been a handful of times to this lovely little shop, I love the fact this coffee shop is downtown Kerrville. I love the high ceilings (more on this in a minute, because there is a drawback) and lots of natural light. I'll most likely be back, but my experiences average to a solid three stars. First visit, I tried the cold brew (Black and Blue) poured from the tap. I thought it was bold, flavorful, but not nearly as cold as I expected ... or as cold as I have experienced from other placed offering coffee the same way. Second visit, the gal and I walked in for a quick coffee. Lindsey ordered, requested her drink iced...and it was made hot. Not one to complain, Lindsey just took it. The barista did catch his mistake, and offered to remake the drink, but it was already poured and we were headed out the door. A plus for catching the mistake and offering to re-make, though. Lastly, I spent about an hour in the shop this past Monday. I enjoyed a nice signature drip coffee, which had just been brewed. It was smooth, not too bitter, and not too strong. It was a very well brewed cup of coffee. I'm borderline disappointed on the size of the mug for the amount I paid, but eeehhhh...can't win them all. Kudos to the waitress who went around pouring complimentary glasses of water. Nice touch. Now, when I said earlier I loved the high ceilings in this place - the drawback is that it makes that little shop SO VERY LOUD! Now, granted it was very crowded, but I'm thinking this is not the place to go if you're looking for a tranquil spot to do some computer work or read.
