BREAD WAS HARD AND DIFFICULT TO CHEW.
    K E I T H J.

When I heard that this restaurant had award winning Cuban sandwiches, I was excited to try one. The service was good and I attended with a large group of. When placing my order I asked the server which was the award winning sandwich. She didn't know ... I to go and ask the cashier. I found my sandwich to be nothing special. Wanting to be fair I looked at other reviews here, many five star, and did see a reviewer mention "little meat and hard bread" my experience exactly. The interior was cozy but nothing memorable. Would I go back? This is over an hour drive from me. There was nothing special about the Cuban sandwiches that I would go back for. Based on other reviews maybe ordering something else would have provided a more memorable experience. If I am ever in the neighborhood it might be worth another try. P.S. I am no expert on Cuban sandwiches. Last night I dined at a local establishment and ordered a Cuban for comparison. Sandwich was smaller, stuffed with ingredients, and the bread was pressed but soft. The person next to me, a former Tampa resident, had eaten Cuban sandwiches for thirty years and said that what we got, in her opinion, was what a Cuban should be.

I've been living 15 minutes from here for a year and I had no idea! Feels like you're the heart of Tampa but actually in a relaxed small town cafe. Great food, nice people, and close to me! Cash only on Tuesdays.

Ordered 2 plates of ropa veija. They decided to take it upon themselves to cross out what I ordered and give me piccadillo instead of calling me and asking what I wanted. Absolutely the most unprofessional thing. I didn't want this nor does my husband eat olives. Had to throw $40 worth of food away.

Have been at least 10 more times since first review . Have sent 3 people that have actually drove from Tampa to taste what i think is one of the beat Spanish restaurants in the state hands down . Again great prices and good sizes . You get what you pay for and oh so delicious !!

Ma-Sar-ick-town. We've all heard some doozies on how to pronounce it. This is the best phonetic I can get it. I wish I had a Czech Koruna for all the years we've driven right PAST this PLACE! (1 US Dollar equals roughly 24 Czech Koruna).. It always beckoned us. Oddly, we never beckoned back. LOL Until NOW.......!!!!!!!!! The oddity of the name runs over and into this Cafe. It's a curious place, of Czech heritage, that is known for a muy bueno Cuban Sandwich! Guess one could call it Cubaslovakian food? Upon our arrival, we were escorted through the 'Fireplace Room' to be seated in the 'South Room'. At Table #4, to be precise. We were 'tended to' promptly with a warm welcome and a drink/app order. Maria took over as I inquired of her, "Just HOW do YOU say the name of this place?" (Just hoping to hear MY version to be authenic! LOL) I got it right! I've been saying it right ALL these years. Okay, another Bucket List item checked off! Now comes the 'interactive' part of my review. I'll give you 8 seconds to guess what we ordered! 8 seconds is the length of a rodeo bull ride. IF those bull riders can hang on for that, ya'll can too! Got it? OR, give up? WE, as in My Fav Fab One & I ordered.....drumroll.......Cuban sandwiches! (What the heck did ya think we were going to get? geezz LOL) We both ordered the Regular Cuban Combo. That's a 7 inch Cuban and a choice of salad, soup or fries. Fab One got a cup of the garbanzo bean soup. I got a cup of the collard green soup. Both were incredibly full of flavor. An absolute joy to sop up with a bit of Cuban bread. I'd say it's safe to say most of us have eaten quite a few Cuban sandwiches in our day. In all kinds of different towns & settings. You'll likely know there can be quite a variety of the complexity between the bread and the bread itself. And that is part of the overall joy of one's eat to destroy Cuban sandwich mission. Cafe Masaryktown did not disappoint! The flavors were on point. The bread with that nice firm crunch that yields to the harmony of the ham. What an enjoyable interpretation of this venerable pressed slab o' bread. To be quite frank. Or surely. No, don't call me surely. To be quite frank, we could drop in anytime JUST to enjoy those soups again! A potent pot of plentiful pizzazz they stir up. Yummmmm But we can't wait to try more of their creative cooking. In closing, I'm now at that phase of, you know, kicking myself for NOT stopping in SOONER!!! Like, many years sooner! Tell them John & Beth sent ya!

He brought us out our water and told us to take our time looking over the menu. When were were ready to order, we decided to just split the cuban sandwich and get an order of fries. When the food came out, (on two plates!!) we were so glad we did decide to split the sandwich. It was HUGE!! It was also SO GOOD!! Fries were nice and hot and crispy. Highly recommend this place, when we get back to FL we want to try some more of the other tasty sounding menu items.

When we walked in, the place was quite busy with diners with most looking like they were enjoying their Cuban breakfast sandwich. My wife and I opted to order the Breakfast Combo #1, which came with eggs, choice of protein, hash browns, Cuban toast and a small cafe con leche. My wife went with sausage and I opted for bacon...this was after the lady behind the counter dissuaded me from ordering combo #2 (guess she's not a fan of the tomato sauce). We also ordered a couple of guava and cheese turnovers for a snack later. Breakfast was OK. Wished the eggs were fluffier but they were fine. The buttery Cuban toast was good and so were the cafe con leche...wished the coffee size was bigger. The biggest disappointment was the bacon, if you can call it that. When I first saw the bacon, I thought it looked odd...and my suspicions were confirmed when I bit into and tasted it. The texture was off and it had no flavor. Perhaps it was turkey bacon or vegetarian bacon, either way I wasn't informed that the bacon would be some weird facsimile of bacon. Surprised the lady behind the counter didn't try to convince me to change my choice of meat. We'll probably go back for breakfast but will definitely avoid ordering that strange bacon. Breakfast for 2 with the turnovers and tip cost just under $30.
