This little place has some of the best hand held burritos you can find. My favorite is the #17 breakfast burrito with cheese and mild chili. They cook their potatoes perfectly and cook their eggs right on the spot. This place leaves Santiago's in the dust! read more

Don't come here for anything other than the smothered burritos. I've had the tacos and enchilada plates here and both are less than amazing. The tacos will be completely soggy by the time you get it home and steer clear of any combo plates. Amazing green chili on the smothered burritos. They should really consider only selling burritos. I recommend taking it home because the restaurant is a little dirty. And yes, the payment situation is a little weird but it's easy to get over. I also wish they were open on weekends, or at least Saturday. So order a burrito, take it home, and enjoy. read more

The smothered burritos are VERY good and the green chili is excellent. They have mild, 1/2 &1/2, or hot. I say it's as good or better than Santiago's green chili. The people who work there are exceptionally nice and accommodating. Kids meals are $3! Cheap eats and great food! Hard to complain about anything there. read more

Cafe Mexico is my absolute FAVORITE Mexican food in the Denver Metro area. I always get the bean & beef burrito smothered with half & half green Chile, deluxe. I can never eat it fast enough. It is SO. GOOD. I've been coming here since I was a kid. It is very endearing. A small, hole in the wall, family owned (?), cute, and very clean place. I would highly recommend coming here for delicious Coloradan Mexican food. I could eat that smothered burrito everyday. The beef soft tacos are also one of my favorites. If I'm going to choose a Mexican place, I will always come to Cafe Mexico. And as a plus, the staff is VERY friendly. The girl who usually rings me up treats me as if we have known each other for years. I hope this place never leaves or closes. I would be devastated! read more

What's weirder the credit card atm thing, or the cashier standing in front of the 80s hair due cook. With all that hair spray who's worried bout a grease fire. I had the steakless breakfast burrito, it was not bad for a quick on the go burrito. The lack of investment in upgrading current card machine is the ultimate throw back to 2000s when cash was becoming a object most weren't carrying. I ordered a pork and avocado burrito smothered with half and half. It was delicious! It was pretty big, and packed with pork and avocado. The green chili is some of the best I've ever had. Only 4 stars though for the funky way of paying at the counter with a ATM set up. I will definitely eat here more often, this was a great little find thanks to Yelp. read more

I agree with many of the other reviews. I only wish I read them first. No fresh ingredients here with exception of the lettuce and onions. The green chili gets its heat from Tabasco, I'm assuming. A smothered burrito for just under eight bucks is pricey. No credit or debit cards accepted and no flavor provided. The green chili and the stewed tomatoes are canned! I will not be back. read more

Two things I always appreciate in a business. Especially a private business. Good customer service and good food. This place has both. I'm not sure who she was, but I'm sure she is manager of a sort, was absolutely the nicest person I have encountered at almost any business. I'm a manager of a business and I dane to be a manager like her. The food is actually what brought me there in the first place. I came here for lunch. $7.00+ for a smothered breakfast burrito, very pricey I feel. They don't have a credit card reader so you have to use there atm which has a fee of 1.25. Who doesn't take cards nowadays. Anyways back to the food. Avg at best. Best part was the hot green chili. The burrito only had 1 fried egg and potatoes with a bunch of cold cheese on top. Not my style. Didn't touch the tortillas just split it open and mixed the chili in with the chicken chorizo. Now the store lacked cleanliness. Restrooms were horrible, the lights didn't work the whole bathroom stunk like mold, there're stains on the wall, the sink was broken. Windows were dusty and full of bugs. Soda machine area was sticky. Just bad customer service as well. My food came out I was the only one there and she yells across the room your food is ready and slides it on the counter. Now I'm eating in. She could of at least brought it over to me. I rarely give 2 stars but I think they earned it. I will not eat here again to many choices around town. read more

Well I've eaten here a few times. It's just ok, until today when I found an eyebrow on my burrito within my 2nd bite. Totally grossed out and threw it away. 9.00 for a burrito and pop is a little much. Then I was noticing how filthy this place is. Pop machine caked with filth, lid holder full if dirt on the bottom. ( I got 2nd to last lid left) and floors dirty. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. read more

the food wasn't bad. I had a combo plate and everything was kind of alll running together. Nothing caused me to say, "wow, this is good!" I thought it was a little overpriced-my chili reno seemed awfully small among the rice and beans. The person i was with implied maybe i should try other mexican places before I pretended i knew what I was talking about. They thought everthing tasted great. Matter of taste and expectation? It didn't measure up to what I was expecting..I think it was something simple: I have NEVER had Mexican fod served in a restaurant where you didn't get chips and salsa at the table. They didn't give us chips and salsa . This wasn't take out either. Our order was served naked. The service was friendly and efficent and I did love the tablecloths. Red and yellow are two favorite colors and the tables had old fashioned oil cloth covers, bright yellow backround with red chili peppers all over.. It felt festive. I wouldn't turn my nose up at having lunch there another time. So, it's an OK place and worthy of 2 stars.(give me chips and salsa) read more

Ewww! That's the number one thing I have to say. I will NEVER eat here again. Everything is canned and left a bad after taste. You have to order at the counter and pay for your meal before they make it. Then you have to pick it up at the counter after you seat yourself. There is no wait staff. The tables are dirty. You get plastic cups for your drinks. One good thing is at least we weren't forced to eat off Styrofoam plates. Nope, never again! read more

The complaints I see here are not unfounded. Their tacos and combo plates are pretty meh. But it's all about what you order - you don't go to Chili's to get a good steak (or even good food...). I have been eating here since about 1990 and I can tell you this is hands down the best green chili and enchiladas on the entire planet. Order a smothered burrito (your choice of meat/bean/combo fillings) and choose your chili spice level - I stick with half an half (half mild, half hot). Or order a cheese and onion enchilada. Cafe Mexico's green chili is a family favorite and has been for many years - I prefer the "deluxe" which includes lettuce tomato & onion on top. Their enchiladas are super tasty as well - the sauce is superb. My only complaint is they put too much cheese for my taste on top of the burritos - so I order easy cheese. This place rules. Ive have been going here on a regular basis since i got my license almost ten years ago. If you say this place is gross or filthy youre and idiot. Incredible smothered burritos and huevos rancheros. Green chili is excellent. staff is polite and hasnt changed since i was a kid. They are very personable.
