This place super legit and has some of the best tacos I have had in the boulder area. They are about to open a location in boulder that is going to have a bar and table service. Supposed to open in a month. This is going to be a much needed addition to boulder as the Mexican food here isn't authentic (except for cozobi but that's a different experience). Stopped by Tacos Ay Ay Ay while visiting Colorado and had a very solid experience overall. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo, while my relative went with the asada burrito. Both were flavorful, generously sized, and came out hot and fresh. The chorizo had a nice kick without overpowering the other ingredients, and the asada was tender with good seasoning. Service was friendly and the vibe felt relaxed and local, which I always appreciate when trying a neighborhood taco spot. They also have a salsa bar with around 6 different salsa heat levels, and chopped radish. This is an easy 4.5 out of 5 stars for me, and I'd absolutely come back again to move it to 5 stars. read more

Great, authentic Mexican street tacos! Small, mostly take out place in a strip mall in Lafayette. We went on a Saturday night, it was pretty busy but the employees were nice and efficient. I went in today and had a carne asada taco with some of the roasted onions and potatoes. The taco was very flavorful, seasoned perfectly, and the tortilla's corn flavor really showed through. I thought they made the inside look great with some bright colors and the dessert counter at the front. Discovered this little taco truck last few weeks and decided to give it a try. All I can say it is WOW. I ordered a few tacos and the ingredients tasted fresh and authentic. I don't think this place gets enough reviews but there are tons of people coming in and go. It is a little neighborhood gem. I have been coming here a few times a week for a snack. We ordered the quesabirria tacos, al pastor tacos, lengua tacos, and carne asada tacos. Everything was delicious!!! I wouldn't say al pastor tacos was how I normally eat them but they were delicious! Food is very filling and worth it. We also got the horchata and that was the star of the show. Usually a lot of places have watered down horchata but this was so delicious we had to get another one. The restaurant is very small with minimal seating, usually people get it to go. The tacos comes out pretty fast and if it's busy, the line dies down fast also. read more

I've eaten here a handful of times, so I was not surprised when they were rated one of Yelps top Mexican restaurants in the country. The QuesaBirria, Taco-Torta and Tres Leche are currently my favorites. All the self severe hot sauces are excellent and full of flavor too! The restaurant has very limited seating and is what you would call a hole in the wall but don't let that discourage you. There is top notch food being prepared here for a great price! If they keep doing what they doing I will be coming here for years to come. read more

I considered this place a hidden gem for years. Afraid to say I don't think I'll be going back. Although my burrito was huge and loosely rolled; it was mostly filled with beans and lettuce, it was was barely warm, and the pickled jalapenos I once loved just seem like jalapenoes now. Not really sure what's going on but I only ate 1/3 of my burrito before throwing it away, it just wasn't good. I hate that I'm writing this, but maybe it will help to reverse things to the way they were. The level of mushy beans in the burrito was the real killer. Awesome hole in the wall, mom and pop taco place. We come here regularly for takeout, they're reasonably priced in my opinion. They always pick up the phone fast and always nice. They have a salsa bar, you can get as many as you want which is such a nice perk! read more

Really bummed:( this place was amazing 2 years ago- we have tried giving them 5+ chances (just assumed they were off their game) and each time has been gross. They just seem like they don't care anymore. I've ordered the same thing every time- vegetarian breakfast burrito. This time there was literal meat in it. I've learned not to order anything with eggs after 12pm because they will give you crunchy eggs. Overall I think they need new management to be great again. read more

This place is the real deal. My favourite place to stop after going to Louisville Rec Center. Pick a taco, any taco, you can't go wrong. Sides are. yummy. They also have a self-service salsa bar and the habanero salsa is amazing. Staff are really friendly, worth it every time. read more

My husband, who's Mexican and VERY picky with Mexican food, has been sad he couldn't find any good Mexican places in the Denver area so far, but he DID like this place. So yay for him! Why Tacos Aya Yay doesn't have a line out the door everyday and Teocali does is another one of life's great mysteries. This place, IMHO, has the best Mexican food. The tamales, the quesadillas, and the tacos were all bursting with flavor today. They seemed to have to spice level dialed in to with their seasonings. And their homemade salsas are complement the food beautifully. If you're scouring through Yelp looking for some Mexican food, don't pass this place up. Also, don't let the fact that it's in a gas station strip mall deceive you either. This place is great! read more

We often didn't see her for long stretches of time, so when she did come by, we had multiple things to ask for. They've made constant improvements to make the patio more attractive (they even added a covered area for cold or rainy days.) I figured they had to do something right to attract enough customers for their breakfast burritos in order to buy a truck. I am so glad I finally visited El Mercado to try their breakfast burrito. It was by far the best I've had for a very long time. I actually had given up finding a very good one in Colorado. I had the chorizo, and my husband the bacon one. That burrito was so moist it melted in my mouth, it was the perfect balance of cheese (lots of it I assume), chorizo and whatever else they put in it. A sign also says that they now offer breakfast burritos all day. Sitting at a table next to us was someone raving about his tamale (he told me they have added a new one to the menu and it is the best- $2 each, blue sign on the window). They seem to do a good business with people ordering to go, a lot of them regulars and I totally understand why. I will be going back to try their lunch menu soon!!!
