Cafe Mezzanotte is one of those rare finds that completely exceeds expectations from the moment you walk through the door. From the roadside, you might never guess that this unassuming spot is actually a top-notch restaurant, let alone a perfect choice for a romantic night out. Tucked away in a more residential area, it's a delightful surprise that proves great dining doesn't always announce itself loudly. The food was exceptionally fresh and absolutely delicious. Every dish tasted thoughtfully prepared, with high-quality ingredients that truly shine. It's clear that Cafe Mezzanotte takes pride in using locally sourced food and wine, and that commitment comes through in both flavor and presentation. Each bite felt refined yet comforting--exactly what you hope for in a memorable dinner. Our experience was made even better by our waitress, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming without ever being overbearing. Her warm personality added to the relaxed, intimate atmosphere and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. Inside, the restaurant is beautifully decorated--elegant, cozy, and inviting. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. There's also a very nice bar area, ideal if you're stopping by just for drinks with friends or arriving early for a cocktail before dinner. Practical details are a bonus here: there's plenty of parking available, and while reservations are offered, they aren't strictly required. All in all, Cafe Mezzanotte is a hidden gem--an outstanding dining experience in an unexpected location. Whether you're planning a romantic evening or a relaxed night out with friends, this place is absolutely worth a visit. P.S. I forgot to take pictures as when the food arrived I just dug right in! Next will upload pictures...I promise!

Great experience here! Been here many times before actually but this time we sat in the lounge which is my kind of vibe! Started off with a dirty martini then switched to wine apps. The happy hour appetizers were delicious we had the burrata bites & another cheesy app. The bar tenders were great and very attentive!

Wow, very impressed with the many improvements since an along ago visit. The restaurant is half boisterous bar and half serene dining room. While the menu is huge, DO Ask about the specials of the day! The evening special of Sea Scallops on fregola with vegetables and pancetta was a total winner! Desserts also should not be missed. Highly recommend.

The entrance to no fault of their own is an instant watch your step moment. Geese/duck poo all over the sidewalks. However once you've made it inside, it is very welcoming. The portion size and flavor were all there. It was a good experience and a nice place to go to celebrate. I'm not that big on Italian dishes so sorry no pasta reviews from this outing.

We went for Mother's Day and it was super busy but the buffet and drinks were always stocked. The food was really good! The highlights for me was the charcuterie table, asparagus, filet, pasta with veggies and the profiteroles! Only thing is server left menus on table and they were in way. We would definetly go back for an event like this. Sat on the patio it was cute and they grow their own herbs out there

    The blood orange torta

When we walked in we knew we had to leave our ideas of Mediterranean pub grub at the door. What we got instead was some wonderfully prepared food which started with some bread and a delicate yet quite robust sunflower oil and sun-dried tomato starter and expanded to a hearty portion of crispy Brussels sprouts which had all sorts of multiple flavors going on. These were not your father's crispy sprouts. The pappardelle mignon was a nice foil to the arctic weather outside and made you stop and take it in slowly because it, too, was not a single taste you plowed through. The bison casarecce's scroll-like shape was true to form and made sure it held onto the flavorful sauce which was occasionally punctuated by fennel and intriguing strips of crispy carrots. Both were perfectly hearty and were taken home where they did not diminish in flavor when re-heated. Buonissimo! The meal ended with the blood orange torta which was better in idea and the pre-conceived notion of what it could have been based on what proceeded it. A bright splash of citrus in a dense cake was muted but it disappeared quickly nevertheless. The staff was very able and there was no rush to turn the table. The two top tables are a tad too tiny and you'll quickly run out of room so if possible, try for a four top. This was a delightful find and look forward to another visit.

Eggplant Rolletini with Parmesan sauce instead of red sauce

Update 1/3/2023: My mom ordered the Campanelle E Cheese and came down with food poisoning later that night. It was awful. She called to alert the restaurant after a few days of trying to decide if she should. They offered her a refund. They gave her a refund for the cost of the item that gave her food poisoning. The night was unfortunately ruined for my family. We will never return based on this customer service. Service was off and slow. We came on 12/22/2022 for my parents anniversary. Our waiter had what appeared to be the whole lounge area. We rarely saw him and had to ask others for water refills, silverware, boxes, and the check. I started off with the Eggplant Rolletini but swapped the tomato sauce for the Parmesan sauce. I also ordered the Pescatore pizza. Delicious but the crust was flimsy. Had to eat with a fork and knife. Not very good.

Ask the Community - Cafe Mezzanotte

    What is the dress code?

Business casual, but I have seen tee shirts and jeans but I recommend business casual.

    What kind if desserts?

I recall 3 or 4 flavors of gelato, bread pudding, lemon cheesecake, cannoli, puffed pastry with mousse, and some sort of brownie dish. The gelato was the high light of our meal. We are still deciding whether to try the restaurant again.

I went to Mother's Peninsula Grille one time on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. It was with an Annapolis area based Meetup social group for trivia night. I knew a couple of the people from another Meetup I was in and thought it'd be worth the drive all the way east to here that Tuesday night. Burger was excellent. I got an egg on the burger, yum! Service was good as I recall. Trivia was a lot of fun. We even got a free shot for the whole table for getting a specific question right or winning a round or something. Think it was like a lemon drop. The only issue was that the acoustics were bad for the trivia and was hard to hear the questions being read, so posed a bit more challenging as it was noisy. I'd go back here for trivia or otherwise. However, on a sad note, the very next morning I went to my office and to do some work travel that afternoon. My dad called at 9:15 AM breaking up about our family dog dying. I still did the work travel that afternoon but I was despondent and numb the rest of the day. In spite of the negative of the next day, I'd still go back here as I remember the good food and fun time here.

And you wait in line. We waited about 45mins before our group of roughly 20 went into the Haunted Barn walked down a lil hill to the mini maze, and we all loaded up in the trailer for the hayride. Please dress for the occasion, it was 43 degrees out and they don't have space heaters outdoors or fire pits etc to keep you toasty wok you wait. Although a fire pit and selling s'mores kit would've been another selling point. They did have apple cider, canned sodas chips candy and popcorn for sale. I'd suggest pack your own snacks and drinks. Oh and they had glow sticks for the kids. Organization could've been a bit better, lighting to the restroom would've been nice and more scary props. And that god awful smoky smell from the fog machine or whatever was horrendous like old fireworks just bad.

I'm not sure if there was supposed to be chicken in it, didn't find any. It was corn, beans, tomatoes and a thin stock. Soup was lukewarm, not hot. Dressing on top looked attractive. Chips were the best part. I got the drunken shrimp tacos which I expected more from. Three small tacos and a small lukewarm serving of rice. Platter could have been filled out with beans, chips and a heavier serving of condiments on the tacos instead of the barren looking plate for $16.50 We also got the Queso Fresco Chicken Tacos... bland overcooked chicken. The salsas were good. Small side of rice. $15.50 There are a lot of Mexican places to compare to and it is very easy to fill out a plate with inexpensive ingredients like rice, beans, cheese, salsa, limes and fresh herbs... these platters had very little of that. Just underwhelming for a $48 quick lunch (40 + tip) that left us unimpressed with quantity and quality. I'll try this place again some busy summer day when the margaritas are flowing and the kitchen is busy. Perhaps this was just because we went on a slow winter day, but I expected more. It looks like a fun bar on a crowded day. Plenty of room and festive decorations.
