Great Irish pub and restaurant. Decor and menu is authentic and fun. Service was good as well. The Jameson steak tips were cooked exactly yo my request and tasted great. My one critique would be the mashed potatoes were bland and there was no salt on the table. My wife had fish and chips and she loved it. In an age where brunch buffets are zero to none this was a fun way to spend $20. Realized they have a Sunday brunch buffet and been looking for an excuse to check this place out. Have gotten food from here about 5 times now and each time it is about 70% great and 30% not so much. They chicken tenders for the kids are amazing and crispy - same with the fries! Unfortunately, each time we order a burger (even the premium/expensive one), they seem to struggle with our preferred cooking temp. For example, most recently when we ordered medium rare, it came to use quite well done. Aside from these things, everything is as expected and service is always nice, quick, and friendly. We finally stopped in to the Irish restaurant Brian Boru located off of Richie Highway. Tucked behind a few trees you could easily miss it, but we're glad we found it. We wanted fish and chips for dinner and we can easily say that it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and checked in with us multiple times ensuring that we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and cozy inside. There were several rooms to be seated in making for a comfortable evening. My wife had an Irish coffee after dinner and in her words they did not skimp on the whiskey! The menu had many other dishes that sounded good so we plan to be back. read more

After coming here for 10+ years, I do not think I will be returning. Service was slow, all the ingredients felt cheaper and poorly prepared, and I'm personally not a fan of being charged an exorbitant additional credit card processing fee on top of that. The food is not what it once was, hoping they can turn things around but cutting costs on ingredients tends to be the sign of downturn for Severna park restaurants. The interior of the restaurant brings Old World charm and warmth, feeling authentic rather than kitschy. The staff has always been kind and accommodating. During our last visit a member of our party ordered a drink as a happy hour special, and at the end, the cost had not been discounted; when we discussed the matter with the hostess the charge was struck entirely, rather than simply applying the discounted rate. The way they have gone above and beyond for the customer is commendable. Finally, there is the food. Everything I've ordered there has always been fresh, well seasoned, and nicely plated, with every course of a meal executed with skill. It was delicious, hearty and well priced too. Stopped here earlier this year, had classic European styled food. Enjoyed a few appetizers with some friends after work. They ordered before I had gotten there, but we sat at the corner of the bar and had a great bartender named Erin. We had calamari, spring rolls of some sort, and fried egg rolls. It's been three years since I've updated my review! My last visit here was in November of 2021. Three of us came in for lunch. We initially had the place to ourselves (we came in a few minutes after they opened) but more parties came in throughout our meal. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me remember our server's name (the receipt says "Waiter 214 AM BAR") but she was fantastic. Personable, bubbly, friendly, incredibly attentive. She was a delight. We ordered the Wexford Potato Cake appetizer, which is one of our favorites. I ordered a cup of Tomato & Whiskey Soup (fantastic!) and an Irish Rueben Sandwich (corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Irish mustard dressing, grilled rye bread) with fries and a pickle. This sandwich is one of my favorites here. The fries are great as well. My friend ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage (corned beef, champ mashed potatoes, steamed cabbage, carrot parsnip mashed potatoes). She loved it and kept raving about it during our meal. My mom ordered her tried and true - Fish & Chips (cod, homemade beer batter) with fries and vinegar slaw. The pieces of fish are generous and she loves the coleslaw. I loved the soup so much that I ordered a bowl to go, and also ordered a chicken pot pie for my dad, which he devoured and enjoyed! read more

This is a great place for weekend brunch! You will definitely need reservations though as it's usually very very busy. The service is great! The brunch set up is a smallish buffet. They do made to order omelets which are so good! Love the atmosphere here. read more

What a nice restaurant. Our server was very attentive and did a wonderful job with our party of ten. The food was tasty although one person in our party ordered a burger medium rare that was definitely under cooked and another order salmon that was also under cooked the server quickly removed the dishes that were incorrect and had the salmon replaced with a correctly cooked serving. The person who order the burger opted for fish and chips which were delivered very quickly. Our nephew has a burger that was cooked perfectly, our sister in law had huge serving corned beef and cabbage that she loved. I had a Reuben which was delicious. And our son has a steak and his wife also had a Reuben. The setting was wonderful with a delightful combo playing authentic Irish tunes. We all loved the music. Overall a great place that we will definitely visit again. read more

I decided to try Liver & Onions. I was super hesitant at first to order, but I've always wanted to try and figured since their meals have all been amazing, authentic, and quality, this would be a good place to try it! and I was right! A rich, well prepared taste, juicy & well marinated (not too gamey), with lots of gravy and perfectly crisped bacon. I would order again! My hubby got his reliable go-to fish and chips, which never disappoints. Super fresh fish, just the right amount of breading, with fries that are well cooked not greasy, crispy & fluffy all in one. Got my side of soda bread as usual: dense delicious flavor. My only woe, I was looking forward to black pudding, drooling over it all day, but they gave me bread pudding..so crushing...but I guess this means I need to go back for my black pudding soon.. read more

The food was EXCELLENT! Only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the server. She seemed like she didn't want to be there. We tried to engage in small talk and she wasn't having it. She also picked our bag up off the table abruptly without asking and moved it. She didn't come to check on us until more than half way through our meal. When we were counting our change and figuring out the tip she asked to go in between us to finish busing our table. Just very strange and cold. Been coming to Brian Boru for a while. We always have a great time meeting people - it's a fun neighborhood bar. Lots of locals crowd the far end of the bar. The food is great. Well - I'm actually not 100% sure about that considering I almost ALWAYS order the same thing because it's so dang good - the Shepards Pie Mac and Cheese. Hearty and delicious - hands down amazing. The service in the dining room is always great (thanks Emma!!). Sometimes the bar gets a little overworked and a little behind - but it just gives you more time to talk to the new friends you meet at the bar!! Today's visit to Brian Boru was REALLY sub-par. We were a group of 4 adults, 2 couples. We sat for 10 minutes before a service person approached - she was timid, stood 10 feet away, and said in a small voice "do you want something to drink?" as if she expected we would not want anything. She just assumed we wanted to order the brunch, only 3 of us did. I ordered from the menu - their wonderful tomato soup and fish & chips. I was REALLY looking forward to that soup. I sat. And sat. And sat. My 3 companions all came back to the table with their full brunch plates and still I sat - no food. Finally a complete other person brought the fish & chips but no soup. "Oh, you wanted soup??" I told her never mind. No apology from the initial server or the bringer of food. Then it took forever to get beverage refills. Finally, server #1 came back and acted surprised we asked for our bills. REALLY CRAPPY SERVICE from Brian Boru today. It will be a long while til we go back there again. Ordered take out from here tonight and I think we all enjoyed it. We agreed we'd like to try it in person because I think the food would've been even better! I got the Rachel , which is one of my favorite sandwiches ever! I feel like it could've use more slaw but the turkey was very good. My husband got a chicken sandwich that was pretty good but he said it was supposed to have honey mustard and didn't taste like it had any. My FIL got the chicken pot pie and he said it was good but probably would've been better in the restaurant. Overall for takeout though the food was good and the fries stayed crispy. We wanted to find a new restaurant that had good Corned Beef and Cabbage for my husband. I had Chicken Pot Pie, and it was good. My husband started with the Potato and Leek Soup, and he liked it. Then came the Corned Beef and Cabbage which was like nothing we had ever seen before. Not a drop of liquid and beef was in 2 1/2 inch long by 1/2 inch blocks they were so tough when my husband went to cut into one it was impossible.. Corned Beef is usually served in slices and not chunks that reminded you of chucks of chalk. They did remove it from the bill. I would recommend that first not have someone under the age of 21 serve. As when a question about the beer she could not answer due to the fact could not legally drink. Also, teach your staff including the busboy that when dirty dish are sitting on the end of the table to remove them. At one point I counted 8 people including servers went by the table and never picked up a glass or a dish. read more

Mother's Day & all they had was a basic buffet. Not what we wanted or expected. Way overpriced!! The hot food was cold and the salmon was very very dry. The food was bland. Very disappointed. I had looked at the regular menu ahead of time and saw no mention of the buffet or would never have gone. If it was written on their website I didn't see it and they need to make it more easily visible. Also, they charged us an additional $ for using our card as payment. Apparently, they don't want to pay the costs of running their own business and they pass that charge along to the consumer. It cost us $112.00 for 3 meals with a beverage and a total of 115. 00 after they made me pay their cost of doing business. I did not see that business practice written anywhere either. Shame on you!! I have no problem paying for a good meal but this was not a good experience all the way around. read more

I haven't always been impressed here but try to give credit when it's due and Brian Boru gets two thumbs up for my meal last Friday. I ordered the Chefs Special, a three course meal including appetizer and dessert. All were excellent! The cheese plate of Irish cheddar with black current jelly was amazing. The Shepard's pie made with ground lamb took their normal fare to the next level. Finally the custard cake, (understand this is on the Killarney House menu too) was outstanding. Priscilla our waiter was excellent and provided the best service that I've had there in years. She was very helpful and assisted with menu selections, kept dirty dishes from stacking up on the table (big with me) and checked on us regularly for drinks and to confirm that our dining experience was a good one. Hope they will continue to expand the menu like this and will time my visit for Priscilla's shift! Look forward to our next visit. read more
