I recently ate at Twain's and had the Reuben with corned beef along with the corned beef, cabbage, and carrot special--and I'm still thinking about it. The corned beef was absolutely phenomenal. The depth of flavor was incredible--rich, savory, perfectly seasoned, and so tender it practically melted with every bite. There was a warmth and richness to it that's honestly hard to describe. It tasted slow-crafted, comforting, and unforgettable. Hands down the best corned beef I've ever had. The whole world should know how fabulous this dish is. I will definitely be back! read more

They have a 2000s night but only played 2000s rap. If you're gonna do that at least advertise it as that. Like call it "2000s hip hop night" not just "2000s night." Didn't hear anything like Britney Spears, Pink, Christina Aguilara, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavinge, Katy Perry, Hillary Duff, Zedd, Cascada I'm okay with some rap but not if it's all they play. Been to Twains many times without complaint. Went there last night with my partner. It took us 10 mins to see a server. They couldn't serve draught beer because their lines were frozen which the server didn't inform us of until after we ordered food. It's no wonder they were frozen because it was so cold inside even the hostess was wearing her coat. The drinks we did end up ordering had no booze in them. The chicken noodle soup that was on special was incredibly salty with mushy chicken. The crab meat in the crab dip had the texture of imitation crab. The rest of the food we ordered had absolutely no flavor or was burnt. We didn't even bother finishing the food and left hungry. Overall a very disappointing experience. read more

I was visiting a friend who lives nearby, and we ended up here... I wasn't expecting to go out, so I didn't bring a jacket, grrr! When we went, there was a $10 cover because a live band was performing. In my older age I'm not the biggest fan of covers at bars, but I at least hoped the band would be good. When we walked in, I was shocked by how big and crowded it was. The bar is massive, and I could see the stage from the entrance, but the band had just stepped down. We navigated through the crowd and went to the dance floor in front of the stage... I don't know who the DJ was, but he was playing all the peak 2000's party songs that took me back to simpler times! And one of the security guys was on stage dancing LOL!! That was pretty entertaining to say the least. Before long, the band returned... and... they were incredible! I was pleasantly surprised, so that made the experience all the better for me. Overall, this bar seems like a fun neighborhood staple. I can't speak on drink prices, but whew, the bathroom area was quite smelly! And if you don't like a lot of people, don't come on weekends. I imagine trivia night is probably packed too, but I bet it's fun! read more

The first time here at Twains...came on a Tuesday evening, and there was trivia too! It's a very nice crowd here... three pool tables, lots of screens, a steady flow of customers making it lively. I ordered the Prime Rib French Dip, oh my...I love the way it was presented and tasted. It was just so good. Think Prime Rib sliced into a hero, added the caramelized onions, and provolone cheese melted over it...au jus on the side, and what a perfect dinner for me. I came here for lunch one afternoon and to play some pool. They have 3 coin-operated pool table ($1/game). To drink, I had an Orange Crush ($8), Loose Cannon on draft ($4), and Guinness Blonde ($5.50), also on draft. To eat, I had gotten the Ahi Tuna ($12.99) which came with a seaweed salad in the side. Unfortunately, the tuna was dry and way over cooked. I had to send the dish back and decided to try something else. They did not have their Beast Burger in stock, so I opted for their Classic Burger ($9.99) with Jalapeños (an extra 50¢). It came with Old Bay Chips, which were delicious. The waitress had asked me how I wanted my burger cooked and I said medium rare. Again, to my despair, it came out over cooked (well done) and the bottom bun was soggy. I am giving Twain's Tavern 3 stars because there are faults in the cooking of the dishes at this Tavern. My first dish, the tuna was over cooked so I had to send it back. My second order, the burger was well done when I ordered medium rare. Nonetheless, the service was great. The server, Knopp (?), was very kind and understanding. Hard pass! I got dragged here one night, and as soon as I stepped inside I wanted to leave. This place is the wild wild west. You could just feel the Omicron floating through the warm muggy air. Nobody had masks, and the place was packed shoulder to shoulder. They charged a 10 cover, but whatever. There was nowhere to sit, and the few spots I did see were dirty the whole time I was there. I tried to escape to the balcony area for some fresh air, and a drink, but this place just wasn't my vibe at all. It's either the hot and muggy indoor bar area, with no elbow room to stand, or the cigarette lounge balcony area. I couldn't imagine eating food here. I'd rather eat BBQ chicken wings bare handed from a buffet at a strip club. I've never felt dirty from just walking into a building before coming here... read more

Came here a few times for wine Wednesday where they give you wine for 25 cents a glass. Great deal! The girls and I love the reisling/moscato they carry. The cab is decent too. I've been going to Twain's every Tuesday night for nearly a year to play trivia. It's out of the way from where I live, but worth it for a couple reasons. 1. Guaranteed table already set up for us. 2. Chandler as our server. She never misses. Drinks as soon as she sees us and anticipates our wants before we even know them. 3. The food is typically delicious though we have noticed a difference lately with meat doneness. Your idea of medium is their idea of medium rare. Be sure to discuss this with your server what you expect because you might need to order medium well depending on who is cooking. 4. Though I don't know his name- the high school kid who was the host and now the food runner--- he is also fun, delightful, engaging and matches the spirit of Chandler. 5. Charm city Trivia is fun. Went to Twains last night to attend a birthday party for my niece. I was going to grab a bit to eat and just hang out for a bit. I am in my 60 and not a big partier any more. I pulled into parking lot and it was already packed at 6:55 and was warned to get there before 7 pm by my daughter. I had to park all the way in the far end of the parking lot. By the time I finally made it to the door they said $10. to get in. The front door staff were very rude and because it was 7:03 I still had to pay. What a rip off I was not even staying to hear the band. I was mainly stopping in to wish my niece Happy Birthday. I understand they need to charge a cover to pay for the band but they said they are not even going to start until 9:30 pm I paid the fee ONLY because it was a bday for my niece. Please beware do not go past 7pm. On a positive note my chicken salad was good. read more

We stopped by Twains to see the band and decided to go early to grab dinner. I was hoping the food would be better with the new ownership since we have not eaten there in a while. It was nothing special before. Unfortunately we should have eaten elsewhere and then gone to Twain's for drinks and the band. We started with nachos. They were presented well and were OK but the ground beef was quite salty. It was Ok as the guacamole and sour cream allowed us to cut the salt somewhat. My friend who was with us had the cheesesteak egg rolls. These were way too salty! I'm not a big "salt everything" guy but I'm not over sensitive either. To offset all the salt I decided to get something that definitely would not be too salty. The Italian cold cut sub. Unfortunately it was the worst sub I have ever had and I have had all lot of Italian subs from Wawa to Subway to some of the better local delis. First off it was a bit light on the meat and cheese. Maybe one slice of each on both halves. Secondly it had way to much red onion which overpowered any other taste. And lastly it was drenched in olive oil without a hint of vinegar. Well at least it wasn't salty! Anyway, it gets 4 stars for the service (waitress was great), prices and entertainment. But 1 star for the food. Nachos were barely acceptable and my wife ordered something that was not bad but nothing special. This could have been a bad night for the cook, or a new cook or something, but it's hard to miss on over half the items. read more

Damn, this place is awesome! Just relocated, stopped by on a whim, Twain's so exceeded expectations. Live music, drink specials and weds night 6.00 burgers. My son ordered the crab pretzel... best we've ever had. Burgers-are so much more than a 6 dollar burger. Staff is awesome, Stacy our server was attentive and returned to make sure our experience was a good one. We told her we relocated, the owner Mike came out to introduce himself. Truly a cut above. This place is DISGUSTING! The seats outside are NASTY. The smoke is over the top. The music outside and inside is WAAAAAY too loud!! Couldn't carry a conversation with the person next to me. Bottom Line: A one-star experience but I am giving Twain's Tavern two stars in the spirit of forgiveness for a new business operating under a soft opening. Even after reading all of the awful Yelp reviews I arrived with an open mind and lots of patience. Unfortunately, once Twain's Tavern gets past the soft opening hiccups I still think it's going to be "Meh" so I doubt I will be back to give it another chance. Here are a few notes to provide context for my review: 1. It's a rare day that I write a negative Yelp review. In fact, of 769 reviews, only 6% of them are two-star reviews like this one. Moreover, less than 1% of them are one-star reviews. 2. New businesses deserve forgiveness and understanding; therefore, I have written this review with that in mind. This is a one-star business but I am giving Twain's Tavern a second star recognizing that they just opened. 3. I never went to Bamboo Burnie's so I won't compare this new establishment to it. To honor the local business, let's start out with what Twain's Tavern has done well: - Our waitress tried really hard. She seemed to have tables all over the place and was really good about coming back to check on us. Unfortunately, she was often disappointed to find that entrees were wrong, beers, were missing, etc. Also, I appreciate that she graciously did separate checks for our group. - The $5 burgers on Friday nights are a bit greasy but flavorful and juicy. Also, the fries were perfectly crisp. - The parking lot has been freshly paved with asphalt. Here is where Twain's Tavern went amiss: - Renovation?: There was a lot of hype about the building undergoing a $1M renovation. Unfortunately, I cannot even begin to guess where that $1M went. The décor is dated and there is nothing neither Twain nor tavern about it. My best guess is they upgraded things that the consumer isn't likely to notice like the kitchen, HVAC, plumbing etc. Examples of dated décor included faux oak tables, booth seats upholstered in 1980s vinyl fabric and chairs that look like they belong in a $4 Chinese buffet. - False Marketing; Not Upscale: The marketing for Twain's Tavern say it is an "upscale tavern." There is nothing upscale about this place. As noted above, this isn't a tavern either. It reminds me of the bars and clubs I've seen on that TV show Swamp People. (And there isn't anything with the places where the Swamp People hang out - my gripe is about a misalignment between marketing and reality.) S.M.'s review summarizes the clientele better than I ever could. - More False Marketing Regarding Beer: Twain's Tavern also self-proclaims that they feature Maryland craft beers. While they do offer some Maryland craft beers, their selection is slim. Here there is no beer list but the waitress was kind enough to let us look at her list. Moreover, the wait staff lacks familiarity with the beer selection and more importantly, adequate aptitude to properly respond to customer inquiries. For example, I asked our waitress what kind of beer Curious Traveler was and she said, "Honestly, I don't know" followed by a blank stare. While I appreciate her honesty, I think a better response would be, "Let me check with the bartender and get back to you" or "Let me pour you a sip of that taster to try." - Loud Noise and Disrespectful Staff: As other Yelpers noted, it's really loud in here. While I totally expect a bayou dance club to be loud at night, I was hoping to be able to have conversation in the "tavern" dining room at 5pm. We asked twice if the music could be turned down a tad in our corner but it didn't happen. I think Twain's Tavern alienated a lot of people that night because the clientele at 5pm was an older crowd having an early dinner and I suspect they wanted to have conversation too. The band started around 6pm and it go even louder. I thought the band was outside and they were pumping the music in through the speakers. My table asked again about the volume level and this time the busy boy explained it was a live band playing inside. He could have left it at that, but then noted, "I'll see if they can turn it down for the table in the back." Then he even made the effort to make a return trip to say, "Hey, I checked with the band to see if they wanted to stop playing for you but they said they didn't." He snickered and then walked off without removing any dirty dishes. I've never seen a single restaurant employee disrespect seven guests at once. - Missed Opportunity on the Twain Theme: I think there is a lot of lost opportunity on the Twain theme. There isn't anything here that reminds me of literary master Samuel Clemens and his lively tales and humor. There is a graphic and quote on the wall but that doesn't even come close to justify using Twain in the title. How about a Big Tom Burger, Huck Finn Fries or Mississippi Mud Pie? read more

Drove all the way out from D.C. last weekend to see Garden State Radio. Maybe a little biased since we all love GSR....if they're playing any bar is rockin. But seriously, it was worth the trip. I enjoyed the local crowd and felt very welcomed by regulars as well as the staff. Even the bouncer felt friendly. Sound system had a brief rough start but clearly they were on top of it. It's a pretty cool well lit stage with plenty of room in the back to get away from the noise if you needed to. Sound was well controlled. I wish they could have dimmed the house lights over the stage more, but I suspect most bands playing don't have an absurdly overzealous light show. Well laid out to keep things moving , wasn't super crowded but I was still impressed by how quickly the got people covered at the bar. Obviously cheaper than DC...A LOT! Cough up the $5 for a band go check it out! read more

A second bar looks really cool, Backlit shelving for bottles... rustic yet modern. Lots of high tables. Pool tables in a side wing that are set aside well but not hidden. All in all its great. Was really surprised that we had to pay a $10 cover (per person) on a Friday night at 730. We went to the restaurant for dinner and had to pay a cover for a band that didn't start until 10. Our server only gave us one menu (4 people). When we asked if we could have 3 more, we were told that they didn't have any more. So after we shared the one menu and ordered drinks and food, only 3 of the meals came out. 20 min later, the server came back and we asked about the other meal, she told us she forgot. I really liked the atmosphere but the service sucked. I asked for silverware several times and never received it and by the time I got it my food was really cold. I did manage to take a few bites and it would have probably been really good hot. They delivered the wrong food to our table and left it only to come back later and remove it promptly as if we had stolen it...we told them it wasn't ours when it was left. Our server was totally unresponsive and rude....she kept telling me she knew I wanted silverware but just neglected to keep bringing it . Best place in AA County for live music. Awesome food, so much better than last place in same location. Highly recommend $6 Burger night on Wednesday....a steal!! Also love the Crab Cake Appetizers, they are fantastic. Lastly, the bands on weekends are top shelf. The same top bands that you would see at big attractions like Seacrets but in a much nicer setting. The staff is 5 stars.... Love Love Love Torrie, handles our big groups with ease always knowing when we're ready for next round before we even say something. This place is a must stop..... You'll thank me. read more

The female bartenders are the rudest I have ever met!!! They didn't have anything we wanted, yet they advertised everything on the menu online and it specifically said BOTTLES (not the bartenders fault). The one bartender said we don't have a menu online (clearly you do). Being in the industry I would never make a customer wait if I wasn't busy. The main bar had a few bartenders and at most 8 people. Now I know why I haven't been back here in a year! Management needs to step up and train and educate the bartenders and make sure the the social media marketer updates the website. I wish I could add a video of the wait time and bar patrons. read more

Really enjoy coming here! I usually visit for week night specials and I must say, it's well worth the visit. The staff has been super friendly every time i've come in. Jenny, one of the bartenders, is especially nice and attentive. I've only eaten a few things from the menu, all of which have been great. The cream of crab soup is delicious and not overly salty. The prime rib is also delicious, burger is above average and the wings are FANTASTIC! Very happy to have a decent, inexpensive spot so close to home. read more

I'm annoyed and bothered bc we have no explanation and I see the server on the POS as if she didn't put it in. My BF's burger is well, I'm not about to wait for this to cook. I'm over it. Two weeks in a row messing up orders. This time one of our party members ordered chicken tacos, but received shrimp tacos. So the shrimp was sent back, but was charged for both orders of tacos. It may not be a big deal, but the waiter doesn't write anything down, and we were passed between two different servers. Just write down the order and keep the same servers. Addition, once we received the bill. Our first server informed us of a bucket of beer special for happy hour.... Then when the bill came, all of the beers were regular priced.... I keep wanting to like this place. It is in a good location, with relatively little competition. This was my second visit in the last 6 months, and the experience was much the same. First, the service - ugh. We sat indoors, at the side bar where 3 servers were stationed. Despite my saying "hello" and a few discreet waves, no response. We sat for at least 7-8 minutes, when another server came over and plopped menus in front of us. But she was gone before we could order. Five more minutes, and someone took our orders. I ordered a Vodka Collins... and the bartender had obviously never made one. It was awful. I went for the safe bet and ordered a beer. Then my nachos came. Just blah. All the ingredients from a bag or a can. Live music was very good, and the orientation of several TVs makes it easy to watch several games at once. I love local one-off places, so I will return. A little more effort on the service and food will go a long way to improving Twains. read more
