We had a fun happy hour gathering at Gina's this afternoon. They have some great happy hour deals. I ordered the house margaritas (very tasty) and the half order of nachos from the HH menu (only $7.00 for a huge serving of nachos). Two friends ordered the blackened mahi bites (which I tasted) and they raved about those. Frank, the owner, was very pleasant and the servers took good care of us. Service was friendly and attentive. We went mid day after lunch in the winter... so likely not the best time for a festive Mexican place... Tortilla soup was fairly priced at $6.50. I'm not sure if there was supposed to be chicken in it, didn't find any. It was corn, beans, tomatoes and a thin stock. Soup was lukewarm, not hot. Dressing on top looked attractive. Chips were the best part. I got the drunken shrimp tacos which I expected more from. Three small tacos and a small lukewarm serving of rice. Platter could have been filled out with beans, chips and a heavier serving of condiments on the tacos instead of the barren looking plate for $16.50 We also got the Queso Fresco Chicken Tacos... bland overcooked chicken. The salsas were good. Small side of rice. $15.50 There are a lot of Mexican places to compare to and it is very easy to fill out a plate with inexpensive ingredients like rice, beans, cheese, salsa, limes and fresh herbs... these platters had very little of that. Just underwhelming for a $48 quick lunch (40 + tip) that left us unimpressed with quantity and quality. I'll try this place again some busy summer day when the margaritas are flowing and the kitchen is busy. Perhaps this was just because we went on a slow winter day, but I expected more. Went to Gina's last night. We missed the turn because we only saw the motel sign. Gina's is in the middle of two motels. Gina's have outdoor seating for the warmer months. It was crowded last night because there was a private party. We went to Gina's for the live music. Yesterday was a member of Loose Ties. We ordered the chips and salsa which was delicious. Our server, Jen said the chips and salsa are homemade. We also ordered the house margaritas, Tijuana shrimp tacos, and buffalo chicken salad. Both the shrimp taco and buffalo chicken salad were delicious. This place may be divey but the food is great. We also had wonderful service from Jen. She was a great server! read more

3.5 Nice dive bar next to a motel (I think, lol). Came highly recommended by a friend. Not a lot of light entering the building which lends to the divey vibe, in a good way. Lots of food options on the menu. I went with the burger (no cheese, add bacon) and asked that the accompanying fries not have Old Bay seasoning on them (that's what was described on the menu). The burger and fries looked pretty good when they came out, however as I sat putting condiments on and positioning my tomatoes and onions (and discarding the depressing looking lettuce), I noticed there was no bacon. It wasn't worth mentioning, so I proceeded to dig into my food. The burger was ok, but the patty wasn't seasoned. And the fries definitely had no Old Bay, but they also had no seasoning on them at all. By the time the fries got to me, they weren't hot enough for the salt I had to add to them to stick. Oh well, I just dipped them in a ton of BBQ sauce. Oh, and the pickle wasn't good. That said, service was great and the pricing was right. They offer the seltzer-type drinks I like, which is convenient. When I return I'll check out other menu options that will suit me better. read more

Service was quick and friendly but the food grossed me out. I barely ate my lunch. I had the chicken taco platter which came with beans and rice. They put the beans on top of the rice which I don't get. I feel like not everyone likes beans so why would they do that? The chicken in the tacos didn't seem the freshest. I ate one taco and a bite of a second before I stopped. The quality of tacos was not what a restaurant should be serving. Almost seemed like fast food to me. Gina's Cantina stinks, literally. After not having visited for several years, since its former location, I and my friends were utterly disappointed. There was a noticeable stench upon entering the establishment, not from food but obviously embedded in the place. We wondered immediately if we should leave but against our better judgement we stayed, hoping the cuisine would counter our initial impression. Unfortunately, as with the odiferous atmosphere, the food stunk too. Don't order the salmon or tuna bites, as both bite. The guac was obviously not fresh given the very cold temp, clearly pulled from the refrigerator and not fresh. The service was fine, that's the best I have to say about the experience... other than the funny cheap thrill we got from the bikini babe serving coffee from a truck in the parking lot. read more

I was at Gina's last night for trivia. I have been going there off and on for years now. Originally, the turn out for Monday night trivia was decent for a Monday night. Due to the poor quality of food (no one I have even been there with was wowed by anything they ate), a few teams decided to go elsewhere. Even though the food is over priced and awful, I still would go for trivia. I was surprised last night when the usual trivia host (male) was not there, only to find out that the owners (looking at you Frank or Collin) emailed CCE to complain that the host was the reason for the decline in trivia attendance. I have spoken to many other teams and it is the high food and drink prices and trash food. There was no complaints ever, at all about the trivia host. My roommate got food poisioning and had to take 3 days off of work after getting a burger at Ginas. The drinks are overpriced and they have Bold Rock on the menu but never have it. Apparently the owners think its seasonal...I can go to other restaurants in Millersville that have Bold Rock year round. I once found plastic cling wrap in my appetizer - the slop bucket which pretty much describes the food at Gina's. Due to the horrible decisions of the owners to remove the trivia host, the high price trash vomit inducing food, my team will not be returning. It is not hard to make good food, lower prices, practice safe sanitation procedures, and add Bold Rock to your alcohol order. The outside needs to be cleaned up, i have found numerous screws, nails and other items in the parking lot which will puncture your car tires. Finally, this place is not good for those who have limited mobility, are in wheel chairs or using a cane/crutches etc as you cannot access the womens bathroom without going up 2 steps. read more

Came here for dinner, food was NOT GOOD. We ordered takeout. 1. EVERY establishment that does nachos to-go packages items separately especially post covid. Don't judge a book by its cover. It resides next to a little run down motel but it's bigger than it looks and the food is great!! The service is always top - notch They make you feel like family. The chili queso is a nice treat - but make sure to try the Tijuana Chicken Quesadilla - it's got chicken tinga in it and a cilantro cream on top. Delish. There is a ton of art and cool graffiti on the wall to check out. For the hot sauce lover - you will not be disappointed - there are over 40 sauces to choose from. I cannot believe this place does not have five solid stars. Food is amazing! Service is impeccable. Meals get brought out quickly regardless, if it is packed. Nothing short of a five-star experience. I have eaten here now four times and each meal is better than the last. The atmosphere here is awesome. Like when a dive bar meets a gourmet Mexican restaurant! This is my review for the new Ginas Cantina. About 100 feet away from the old Gina's. Food- Excellent. I had the mushroom tacoo special and it was so flavorful and good. My mom had shrimp tacos which weree also great. We got a cool desssert it was brown sugar fried tortilla? I wish it came with ice cream instead of whipped cream. The salsa served with chips here is AMAZING. Salsa is expensive though $5 My negative here is that I was still hungry after finishing my tacos. I would hope to be full after $12 meal. Service- Panda was great and attentive. Atmosphere- It's a bigger location but same interior style. I enjoy it and there's a lot to look at inside. Hopefully they make the outside area cute too. Hadn't been here in a long time, since before the restaurant switched locations, but the salsa and corn and bean dip were as tasty as I remembered. I love that the salsa has little bits of mandarin orange in it, yet is still savory. It's very unlike other Mexican restaurant salsas, but I love it. The drunken salmon tacos were good and came with a slightly sweet and delicious bourbon sauce, and you can also order them as a shrimp version. My husband said his Tijuana shrimp tacos were very good, as were his side beef hard tacos. The only thing that underwhelmed me was the cilantro rice - it was pretty flavorless and the texture was off - kinda hard and crispy. There were multiple picnic tables out front for outdoor seating, and the inside area is pretty large and nicely spaced out. We will be back. read more

Gina's is a great place to go for a decent Tex-Mex meal. Although they do have other items on the menu and specialty items like corned beef during March to celebrate St Paddy's Day. A lot of locals tend to frequent this establishment and it's often hard to find a seat at the bar. My favorite time to go to Gina's is when they have live music. read more

It truly breaks my heart to write this review but I feel like it's necessary. We have always loved Gina's and enjoyed their original location as well as the new location. The last time we visited was before Covid in January and we had a great time. We came last night to celebrate and sat in the dining room. The ceiling above our table looked like it was bowing down and had spots of black mold on it. Our server, Michael, was fantastic. Super sweet and fast. He was the only good thing about our visit. We both had margaritas and my husband asked for his with a floater of Grand Marnier. Both of ours tasted identical with not a hint of Grand Marnier. They both were incredibly heavy on the sour mix and had the tiniest bit of fine salt on the rim. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer which was just a crab flavored paste topped with a ton of shredded cheese. There were no chunks of crab. We ordered two plates of tacos to share - the ahi tuna tacos and chicken soft tacos. I get the ahi tuna is meant to be served rare but the first bite my husband had was inedible. The chicken tacos tasted like cat food and both were incredibly bland. I doused the tacos with hot sauce and that made them better. The side of black beans were inedible. We ordered two coronas which came out quickly and were nice and cold. We ended up going to another restaurant after this because we had had such a bad experience. We ran into a friend and he told us that management had changed during Covid at Gina's. Not sure if that is true or not but it would explain some things. Again, our server Michael was great. After running several early errands this Saturday morning it was getting close to lunch time and I was hungry ... but I wanted something different. After going through my list of lunch favorites I decided to try Gina's Cantina. Several friends swear by Gina's and this establishment was near ... so off I went. I stepped across the threshold just a few minutes shy of high noon. Outside was sunny and hot while inside was cool, lightly lit and inviting. Gina's is a small bar/grill with seating for about 55+ with another 12 at the bar. The floor is painted sky blue and the walls are decorated with various eclectic nicknacks. As I entered I was immediately welcomed by the bar staff and invited to chose my own seating. There were three people at the bar and a family of six at one table. I chose my table and the waitress arrived within minutes. She explained the specials, gave a few favorite choices from the menu. I asked for an Angry Orchard cider as it was on tap. Everything on the menu was appealing and it was hard narrowing down my lunch decision. For starters I chose the Tijuana Tenders, aka Chicken tenders in a mild-pepper sauce. About 10 minutes after I ordered the Tijuana Tenders I flagged down the waitress and ordered the Tijuana Quesadilla. It was a shredded chicken with a black bean corn salsa. With so few patrons I figured the Tijuana Tenders would take about 9-10 minutes to cook and bring out so I had spaced out my orders so they would not arrive at the same time. I had finished my first drink and the Tijuana Tenders hadn't come out. I flagged down the waitress to order another drink and to ask about the Tijuana Tenders. By this time there was about eight people at the bar and six or seven tables were now occupied. Well, my order method flopped as both the Tijuana Tenders and the Tijuana Quesadilla arrived at the same time. I wasn't thrilled with this as now I had to decide what to eat hot and what to eat cold; the Tijuana Quesadilla's won first choice. The food here is EXCELLENT! I loved the flavors of the black bean corn salsa and the pulled chicken had just the right amount of Mexican bbq sauce and special seasonings. The Tijuana Tenders were huge. Much larger that the standard tenders you'd find in most restaurants. The Tijuana sauce was also very good. Just the right amount of spice and heat. It was almost 1:30PM when I left and the place was about 2/3 full. Everyone looked to be having a good time and were enjoying their food. This was a great visit and I will be back to visit this quaint jewel in Anne Arundel County. read more

This is my go to place. The food is amazing, I get the avocado boats every time. My girlfriend gets the salads, all good. This place is a hidden gem. Small and quaint. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable and the specials are good. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before - we've been here 3 times in 5 years (whenever we come to MD, we make a point of it!) The restaurant is casual, with both bar, table, and outdoor seating. There's a surprisingly interesting menu and some great specials e.g. raw tuna tacos is not typical Mexican restaurant fare, but well worth ordering. The tortilla chips are warm, homemade, and the stuff dreams are made of (they aren't complementary but totally worth it) Food is terrific, as is the service. On this trip, there was a singer/guitarist and he was also terrific. Drinks are note-worthy (read: strong). Looking forward to our next visit! read more

I am not one to use Yelp but I had a horrible meal last night at Gina's. My daughter ordered chicken quesadillas and the chicken was mushy and all dark meat..I had a bite and had to spit it out. My son ordered a beef and cheese burrito and couldn't eat it. I tasted it as well. The beef was really mushy and extremely salty. I ordered a pork quesadilla and again it was overly salty. I ate half of it because I was starving. I told the waitress about it and didn't even offer to take anything off the check..no manager to be found. Plus they are ridiculously expensive $95 with tip. The service was actually pretty good oh yeh..I have been on the toilet all morning. Please stay away from this place! They have gone way downhill! read more

I went here for the first time yesterday even though I've driven by here several times. Our server, Michelle, was amazing! She gave us complimentary chips and salsa, plus a small container of guacamole, and their corn salsa all because she knew we were first timers and she wanted us to try some of their food. She was very attentive and very friendly; she may have even said "thank you" more than I did! I ordered the veggie quesadilla and it was very filling and yummy. My friend had one of the shrimp tacos (don't remember what it was called) and he said it was really good. This place has a dive-y vibe, but it's cute and seems to be more of a local bar where everyone knows everyone type of thing. They also have an outdoor area which we didn't see.
