Looking for an upscale dining experience near South Bend... go here!!! We made a reservation for 4:45pm on a Saturday evening. Our server, Maddie, was so attentive, friendly, & warm. She agreed with our choice of crab rangoon & arancini as appetizers. They were both great!! Crab Cake Rangoon was non-traditional format but still tasted great. Definitely more crab cake than Rangoon, but overall enjoyable. The sauce was creamy & tangy. For entree, I got the gnocchi, which was also not traditional. It appeared fried, with a much lighter formula than 'traditional' gnocchi. The sauce was very creamy & rich. Drinks were phenomenal!! I got the Paloma with tajin rim. Husband got the Clase Azul smoked old fashion, & he rated it 10/10. Definitely more pink looking & sweeter than traditional old fashion. Overall, I would say this restaurant has some great spins on more traditional takes!! Pretty reasonably priced considering quality and service. Building very clean, everyone friendly, & fast service. Celebrated our first anniversary here and the experience was great! Our server Prince was extremely polite and made us feel welcomed. The food is amazing as well, I suggest the filet mignon or the frites! They even had a small card for us for our anniversary. I definitely recommend. read more

We came here during the south bend restaurant week at about 9:30pm. Even though the restaurant was close to closing, the service was still exceptional. We did the 3 course meal. And the French onion soup was my personal favorite. The chicken and mashed potatoes were a little underwhelming as the mashed potatoes had a somewhat gritty texture and although my chicken was very tender, it was slightly cold to the touch (but again. Came for a graduation dinner, it was very busy but the service was good, and the food was good. Had a reservation and still had a long wait. I gave only four stars because it seemed they raised their prices during busy times like graduation. I can't believe they can charge that much year around. read more

Nice but not overwhelming. Service is excellent. Bread is only a 3. Dishes are competent but nearly ordinary. Two fish entrees amongst lots of cow and pig. Drinks are great. Wine is expensive. read more

Staff has always been helpful and well versed on their selections. The manager is friendly and has a presence on the floor. A smaller menu, but almost everything we have tried over numerous visits has been excellent. Decor is very unique, it was an old post office converted to have a light and bright color scheme. I went to Cafe Navarre for dinner with my girlfriend and her dad. It was the first time I was meeting him so I was pretty nervous. Luckily, the staff here was accommodating and everything went well. They were pretty patronizing, which he enjoyed, but I find annoying. My food was good. I had crab cake for the first time and loved it. I had a pasta dish for dinner and was satisfied. Beautiful space and friendly staff. The food was pretty good. We had the Navarre salad, scallops, tenderloin medallions, and the walleye. Nothing was bad but it didn't blow me away either; the tenderloin medallions were a bit over for how they were ordered. The mains took quite a while after finishing the starter and salad. My husband and I went there this past Saturday evening. We live in MI, but were staying in southbend so we made reservations at this restaurant. This place did not disappoint, it was absolutely delicious. Beautiful building and they pay attention to small details. The food was outstanding. I ordered the lobster risotto and my husband had a pasta with a vodka sauce. Only thing was, was that the creme brulee didn't have a crunch top later, it was very very soft but still delicious. Came here during my graduation weekend with my family. They were able to accommodate us at the last minute because Lasalle Grill was incredibly rude to us. They sat our party of five at a nice quiet table in the back right around their opening for dinner. The front of the restaurant was lively with people sitting at the bar enjoying drinks. They had a very nice cocktail list, but we ordered a bottle of red wine. While I didn't love their vegetarian/vegan entree option because I'm not a fan of tempeh or edamame, I ordered a soup and salad and enjoyed the small gnocchi plate as my entree. It was FANTASTIC. Everything was cooked perfectly and the tastes were delicious. My family was very impressed with their choices as well. Their hummus, while non-traditional, was amazing! Served with warm grilled pita. Our server was wonderful as well. Constantly checking over us and making sure everything was up to par, which it definitely was. I loved the dessert list, but we were so full we couldn't squeeze any sweets. All in all, a fantastic experience in South Bend which isn't all too common. I had high expectations for this restaurant but unfortunately, they were not met. Upon arrival, I was so excited to see the busy atmosphere, high ceilings and everyone dining. Our server was wonderful, but the food was mediocre. What we ordered: Small plates (1) Hummus - I enjoyed the smokiness of this dish (2) Gnocchi (Vegetarian version) - This was dry, chewy and lacking in flavor and depth. We later decided to add the pancetta and that made the dish better, but it still wasn't as great as we'd hope (3) Mussels - Contained lardon and corn. I really didn't need the corn there Mains (1) Bouilabaisse - Although this is something that I'd typically love, the sauce wasn't as rich and dynamic as I expected it to be. It lacked the richness and flavor profile that I wanted (2) Cauliflower - Very hard texture and nearly raw. All of the other vegetables were fine Our server noticed that we didn't finish the Cauliflower main and gave us a free Pumpkin dessert. That was quite tasty. The menu, overall, looked inviting and made me want to try everything but the food preparation was not great. Not my favorite restaurant in South Bend. read more

Love the baby kale salad with roasted butternut squash, whipped mascarpone, red plum, spiced almonds with apple cider vinaigrette.
