Had the Navarre salad which had nice light vinaigrette dressing. The gnocchi was the highlight as never had it baked before & was really delicious. My daughter enjoyed the grilled salmon with fennel. One of my favorite spots, and it never disappoints. My husband had the salmon and I had the bolognese. This spot is perfect for date night or just to show off your good taste to friends and family. Nice upscale spot- beautiful decor. Service was attentive and when I asked for recommendations the server was comfortable and familiar with the menu to give some favorites. I wasn't quite hungry enough to do a full entree so I had a "small plate" which was a crab cake and a bowl of mushroom soup. Both were packed with great flavor. Stopped in with dinner with a coworker. Nice atmosphere there service was great. They kept on filling your water. Never had to wait for the refill. I ordered the meatballs as an app and pasta with bolognese sauce. Meatball was very good, you get 5, they had good flavor and crustini bread. The bolognese had veal in it and gave it a different flavor. I did enjoy it and the pasta was homemade. My coworker got the crab cake app 4oz piece and she got the cauliflower app which was a special of the night. I don't like cauliflower but tried it and the seasoning on oil on it gave it a unique flavor. I kinda liked it. If I had to eat it again it would be their way. read more

Terrific dinner in South Bend, IN. Cafe Navarre offers a refined menu with many unique spins on more traditional dishes. Started with a cured Waygu plate with olives, roasted peppers, and fresh Parmesan. This dish checked all of the boxes. Fresh, unique, and not overly salty. Waygu was amazing. Then moved onto the Arrancini that was made with pumpkin, rice, Parmesan with a nice ragu and an apple parsnip puree. Really nice dish. Arrancini was savory with a touch of sweetness from the pumpkin. Puree was a perfect compliment. Next was wild mushroom soup. Creamy, savory and everything a soup should be. Exceptional. For my entree, went with beef medallion tips over green beans and a cauliflower puree. Tips were cooked perfectly and the puree was delightful. Fine dining ambiance and service. Very enjoyable dining experience. For those who enjoy libations, very good cocktail menu with many signature drinks to choose from. Two thumbs up! read more

My colleague and I had dinner here June 13 and it was exceptional. The food was perfect. Best crab risotto I've ever had and the homemade Ragu and homemade noodles were wonderful-perfectly cooked. Autumn took care of us and she did an exceptional job. She took care of us like we were family. We never had to ask for refills or anything else for that matter. She made our dinner enjoyable and offered small plates so that we could try the things that struck our pallet. We would definitely come back. Restaurant is in an old bank and had wonderful history that she and several other of the people that work there shared with us even allow us to take a tour of the upstairs and look at the pictures. Wonderful Thanksgiving package! I flew in from out of town to help with my first grandbaby, so I knew we wouldn't be up for cooking a full spread. Their online ordering was glitchy but Manager Lee was very friendly & helped me get my order in. Initially, the cost of the package for 4 seemed a little high, but actually it was a great deal since they gave SO much food. We had 3 adults and we could barely eat half of it! We did cook our own baked sweet potatoes and garlic green beans. Ended up having enough food for 3 meals! Turkey was moist; mashed potatoes & gravy were my favorites; and stuffing, Brussels sprouts and bread were good. If I could, I would take 1/2 star off for the carrots since they were almost raw and the cranberry sauce was too thin (my personal preference). Pickup the day before Thanksgiving was easy. (Make sure you have plenty of room in your refrigerator!) Even though heating everything up took some time, we had the luxury of eating whenever we wanted to. Overall, a really great experience & highly recommend for a stress free holiday! read more

Relatively nice atmosphere. Menu is weak with tandardl choices. Pasta-centric without true Italian flavors. Meatballs were weird tasting mushballs that had a horrible constancy and aftertaste. Portions small, prices high. Cooks seem to love butter and salt. Service pushes you through; no time to relax in between courses. Best water service in town... We had reservations at 6 on a Friday before a show at the Performing Arts Center, which is only 1 block away. Hardly anyone was there and I was a little leery being our first time here that maybe I picked the wrong place. I mean, where was everyone? We were seated upstairs, the place is narrow but long and half of it is open to the ceiling on the 2nd floor. It was hip and trendy and is a neat place. We ordered the Smoke Salmon dip, which was flavorful but not overpowering. By the time we finished that the place was starting to fill up, I guess 6 is just early for most. My wife and I split the rack of lamb, which was more than enough for the 2 of us since we had the appetizer and wanted desert. It was cooked perfect for us and was very tender. The desert was great too. I have nothing bad to say about Cafe Navarre. Reasonable prices, great service, delicious foot and friendly service. We'll be recommending it to our friends and will definitely be back. read more

I like to say that the server John was the best. I never had to ask for coffee , which I thought I would. He was a constant filler up. He made my stay so pleasant. We had a table of 9 people in the back ( Aunties and nieces). Never had to call him for anything because he was just that attentive. He kept a smile on his face at all times. When 1 person asked for a takeout, he got everyone a takeout. His suggestions were great. The bread was warm and delicious with the fresh garlic butter. I thought that the plating was small. But, after the delicious mushroom soup, beet salad, which I asked for extra cheese and beets, I was getting stuff. We had Arancini balls and brussel sprouts for the table. Deliciosios!. Never thought to have a sweet tasting roasted/grilled brussel sprouts. Crispy and nice. My last meal was the scallops. They were nice. I tasted my sister's salad the Navarre whoa! Delish. All in all John made are day very pleasant. We even tipped an extra $50. Thanks John. My first time there. My other family plenty times. And the price is fairly decent.
