Strolled into Cafe Noir on Monday morning based on the reviews I read here and I must have gone to a different place. The milk in the latte I ordered was steamed way beyond what it should be. The milk was practically burned. Same goes for the mocha we ordered. They use La Colombe, like everyone else. Over $12 for two coffee drinks is a bit steep, especially since you can get the same coffee without the superheating around the corner for less. I was considering getting a bagel with cream cheese, but was puzzled by the pricing. $1.50 for a plain bagel is typical and normal, but $4.50 for just adding plain cream cheese?!?! The egg sandwich on a bagel was $5! How can a smear of cream cheese cost $3? Is it made by local cream cheese artisans using cows which were rescued from industrial dairies? Also seemed a bit disorganized, like we got there too early for them to be ready for customers. read more

I couldn't love this place more. From the best quality coffee to the lightest, airy bagels this has become our favorite spot in the morning for breakfast. For lunch, we are frequent visitors as well! The salads and sandwiches are the best tasting and quality for a healthy, but delicious meal. We love this place! read more

Their bagels are insanely good but their service is consistently terrible. They need to work out the logistics in the back because even on slow times a tremendously made bacon, egg, and cheese takes like 20 minutes. On busy times , don't plan on getting your food within 30 minutes. Last time I went I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. After 25 minutes of waiting I asked where my sandwich is at. They replied "couple more minutes". 10 minutes go by and they notify me that there are no more everything bagels when clearly 35 minutes ago their was a myriad of them. Long story short, good food (crepes look good too), worst consistent service on island easily. read more

A nice little cafe in Stone Harbor, good coffee and bagels but nothing really stood out. The nutella coffee was good, but not as amazing as it sounded. There wasn't a ton of nutella flavor and the coffee itself was not that flavorful. The bagels are shipped in from Brooklyn and are nice and chewy and the creme cheese is good, but again didn't totally stand out. Good breakfast option for the area where there aren't a ton of options. read more

This place is pretty great. I look forward to it every year I come, yet unfortunately they were out of mango smoothies and they were for the whole week. They didn't have an order come in the next two days at least which was very disappointing. It definitely is a favorite for all that come so I can say for sure they had a bunch of people upset and missed out on some customers. They do have some trouble with staffing and it can be slow but if they have what you want, worth the wait. I would recommend calling if you don't know but they don't answer the phone consistently. Amazing! Just what we needed! So glad we found cafe noir!! We've been taking trips to Avalon for 3 years now and finding good coffee was a constant struggle. We are Starbucks junkies and the nearest Starbucks is 15 min away. The staff is incredibly friendly and warm and they offer free parking right behind their store. Bagels were the BEST bagels I've ever had! Coffee was great as well and the menu is extensive. This is a must if you are in the Avalon/ stone harbor area. read more

Your chocolate chip muffins do not have chocolate chips inside of the muffin and I am very disappointed The coffee had bad taste also

Wonderful little cafe. The entire Cafe Noir staff is all great, and the owner Delon has a fascinating personality and a deep appreciation of his customers. As soon as I bought my first cup of coffee, I had to sit down and write this review. In the process, I saw him rush out from behind the counter in order to open the door for a customer with a stroller. He has an attention to detail that is tremendous. For example, sitting here right now, I noticed that all the bottles in the cafe are facing with the labels perfectly faced front, the floor is spotlessly clean, and every framed photograph is perfectly aligned. But it's all about the coffee, and there simply is not a better place for coffee in the greater Stone Harbor area (sorry Avalon and Wildwood). read more

Awesome coffee, bagels, and crepes. Smooth roasted coffee. Some kind of special baking process for bagels makes them lighter than most but still very flavorful. No need to scoop out the inside if you're diet conscious. Wonderful host. Attentive staff. You'll want to be a regular. read more

This is a great little place. Minimal inside seating, cute outdoor seating. Unlike the other place, takes credit cards and the line moves fast. Very nice people, good breakfast sandwiches, great coffee (iced and hot). Good pastries. Wish they had a size up for iced coffee. Also the smoothie was more like a slushy -- I don't think there was a "creamy" portion (yogurt, milk, banana, whatever). Seemed to be ice and fruit. Other than that -- go here. The coffee is over priced. The pricing itself does not make any sense. A 12 oz Americano with only one shot of espresso should not be more expensive than a double shot of espresso. It is just adding hot water. I work in a coffee shop myself and was appalled at the over pricing. Yes, I understand we are at the beach, but the prices are ridiculous. My cappuccino was not up to the standards of the prices they charged. Also the service was very slow. Yes, I understand you need to work with the customers, but if you have other waiting customers, you need to make sure you take notice of that. Also, learn how to work your register. read more

Cafe Noir is THE place to go in Stone Harbor and Avalon for coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies, and Brooklyn bagels to die for. Light and airy. Dolan has a winner here. Pork roll, egg and cheese on a plain bagel was perfectly prepared. Be ready to stand in line after 10am. This place is super popular. Xfinity wifi is available to comcast subscribers. read more

Excellence in Everything! Cafe Noir is an awesome and unique Coffee shop that will satisfy anyone. In fact, the owners are very personal and will tailor anything to your liking...guaranteed! I do highly suggest an iced, dark roast, coffee with a hint of dark chocolate (i.e., no milk or cream of any kind needed.) In addition, all of the sandwiches and a variety of food options are absolutely delicious. If you want the best coffee, you should go to Cafe Noir. I travel extensively throughout the world, visit alot of coffee shops and Cafe Noir is probably the best coffee shop I have been too. Again, you have to come in and try it! It's like a haircut....you have to be there to get the experience. As for the customer service....beyond anything that words can say. The owners are very dedicated to their business, fun to be with, very knowledgeable about the business and the coffee industry, take an interest in their customers, and have a deep integrity and commitment to their customers! A Lovely, long needed, new addition to Stone Harbor. A true coffee shop with a European flair. The owners are a delight. The food is delicious & I believe that the bagels & pastries are from New York. You can't get better than a New York bagel. Try their delicious berry salad, you'll be glad you did. I wish them well and hope to see them each time we return to Stone Harbor in the years to come. They deserve to be patronized. read more

It took me almost 5 days, but I finally found the best espresso and latte on the island. They have whole milk, make great espresso/latte and . . . wait for it . . . actually ask whether you like the drink after you take your first sip (which, it turns out, I definitely did! . . .) This place is amazing. The bagels get shipped in every morning from Brooklyn. They are so delicious and not overly heavy like the ones you can get at every other spot on the island. Coffee and lattes are great also... AND they take credit card... which is key. Can't stand the places down here that only take cash and charge you $5 to get cash out of their ATM... everyone should be taking credit card... it's 2014. read more

I'm sitting in my home in Hershey, PA this morning (temp approx. 10 degrees), eating my "Umpqua" oatmeal. I first discovered Umpqua oats in Stone Harbor last summer, while having breakfast at Cafe Noir. This morning, all I can think about it returning to Stone Harbor this summer & having coffee & breakfast every chance I get at Cafe Noir. Like everything else at the Shore, it's pricey, yes.
