Cashier was very friendly. Casual place, you order at the front and they bring to your table. I'm not a fan of tomato but the bisque was quite tasty.

Avocado toast with poached eggs and a European breakfast. Great way to start the day!

One of the great joys of staying in Deep Cove, North Vancouver has been finding this wonderful restaurant! The service was friendly (which was not the case at a local donut shop...and I always consider this as a BIPOC), the coffee was on point and the food was amazing. We came back for seconds today and may have to come again before leaving this beautiful area! I also love supporting BIPOC businesses so that's a plus! I'm also excited about doing my first ever espresso flight! Wish me luck as my heart goes into overdrive. LOL

breakfast platter, tuna sandwich and soup, and waffles

Small cafe in Deep Cove. It's the westernmost food option on Galiant St. Clean and bright interior, with a small bar, small tables on the sides, and a couch area in the middle. The serve coffee, light meals and also alcohol is on the menu. Went there on a weekday and there were plenty of visitors in Deep Cove, which meant pretty good business for this cafe as well. Ordered a few the food options. Got the breakfast platter which included some cured meats, avocados, and grilled cheese on sourdough bread. Also got the half tuna cheese sandwich with a bowl of the tomato soup, and an order of the waffles which was 3 small waffles with bananas and whipped cream. The food was alright, not bad, but nothing noteworthy either. They are light meal, so portions are not very substantial.

Sour Tuscan sandwich and Ploughman's Lunch with the sandwiches reversed!

We wanted to try something local after doing the Quarry Rock hike. Food is yummy and coffee is okay. I would have given 4 stars but it seems the sandwiches were reversed for me & my husband. My meal was supposed to be the Sour Tuscan - open faced sandwich w/ roasted red peppers and Tuscan salami with cheese and arugula. I only got grilled cheese and it was mostly spinach. At least hubby shared some of his meat with me. He ordered the Ploughman Lunch which was supposed to be grilled cheese and meat on the side but his sandwich had salami and some red sauce with cheese on top plus the cold cuts & avocado. So my guess was the sandwiches were reversed. Only thought about this after going home when I reviewed the menu again.

Does a single adirondack chair count as patio dining? If so, I did it!

Cute spot for a Hatfield white wine. Servers were lovely and the Adirondack chairs outside were relaxing and very easy to physically distance on a beautiful, sunny day.

I'm in love with a coffee shop! I had the hot chocolate and a liege waffle, and those two alone got me planning my next visit to deep cove, just so that I can get another cute cup of cocoa and nibble of my mochi textured liege waffle! Ambience is super chic, cute, and clean! Definitely coming back, and definitely highly recommended! Did I mention there's bears everywhere?!?!?! There's cute bear decor and motifs everywhere!!! Such a cute finishing touch!

Good pastry & coffee! When I go to Deep cove, I have my go to so last time I was in the area I made a mental not to ditch the go to and come here instead and I'm glad I did. Super cool, modern, very clean cafe. I gravitate to the pastries, no surprise there and they have my fave almond croissant. I also grab a latte. They also offer other things in their menu, which I cant wait to try on future visits. The friendly barista made my latte just the way I liked it. The carry 49 parallel coffee. The almond croissant was just divine, buttery, crunchy and soft middle.. yummy! Lots of seating indoors and a handful of outdoor as well. Im glad a came in and wont be the last.

I visited Deep Cove many times but it was the first time to try Cafe Orso. They told me the latte was very good, so I ordered it. Indeed the texture of the latte was very smooth and it tasted excellent. The environment was very comfortable. The staff was friendly. The cafe wouldn't rush you to leave. Their waffles are very special but I did not order any because I had already had lunch. They made the waffles at the cafe. Cafe Medina also sells their waffles. I tried their waffles before. It was great. I just didn't order them at Cafe Orso. If you never tried their waffles, you should definitely order them at Cafe Orso.

I really love how bright and beautifully designed this cafe is. They offer a variety of drinks (including beer), lunch options, and waffles. I ordered a Daily Soup (tomato bisque). The soup was tart, but quite delicious. The consistency was right and the addition of feta cheese made the soup less boring and more "meaty". The toasted bread on the side was crunchy, perfect for dunking into the soup. I think the dish was decent, but not worth $10 (after tax and tips). At the end of the day, it was tomato soup with a little cheese and a slice of toast. Service could be improved as well. I walked in, looked at the menu, and stood in front of the counter waiting for someone to help me. A few staff walked out from the back, but no one helped me or greeted me.

it's worth heading away from the water and hitting up Cafe Orso for lunch while in Deep Cove. they were really friendly, the food was really good and the decor was clean, crisp and simple. had a grilled tomato and cheese with this blueberry balsamic (oh the balsamic!) as well as a local Deep Cove beer. it was a lot of food and it was quite tasty. no complaints. i would go back any time. i came home with a cute t-shirt as well. added bonus!

I came here pretty hungry, which was perhaps a mistake. I was looking for a great breakfast, but unfortunately they were sold out of bread so options were limited. The portion sizes were pretty small - maybe a bit European but not great when you're really hungry! I liked that the food was fresh, but the strawberries didn't seem local even though it was strawberry season, so that was a bit disappointing. I really liked the t-shirts they had and wish I had bought one. I'd probably come back here for a hot drink but not a meal.

Came here last year before heading out for hike when we were visiting North Vancouver, and returned just a couple of weeks ago to fuel up again for stand up paddling in Deep Cove for a couple of hours. Now that they've added the PWR Fuel Bar, we also stopped in after paddling to get a yummy smoothie. A huge plus for us is that they have vegan baked goods that paired deliciously with our coffees. Our favorite is their Morning Glory muffin (vegan & gluten-free)! They also offer matcha lattes, and other food options like breakfast sandwiches, granola bowls, etc. There's plenty of seating inside as well as a big outdoor patio in the back. The staff were friendly all the times we popped in. They also sell other snacks, energy gels (helpful if you're headed out for a long trail run/hike/bike ride), kombucha, and even locally-made arts & crafts items. Will definitely be back when we return to Vancouver again soon!

You are the face of the business and if you cannot be nice with people you should really let your young lady helper do it. Don't be such a control freak, really. She can handle the sales and might save you from making such a bad impression as you certainly did with both the woman in front of me and myself. Waiting in line, I watched in humour and amazement as he overcharged a young woman nearly 8 dollars for 2 iced coffees with an excuse of "but you asked for decaf... and SOY, and ice..." and then continued to rail on about how only women order Soy, seldom ever men, because it's a fad and no one is really allergic (to dairy).... I mean, it was totally ridiculous how he was behaving. I stood there, my adrenaline on over-drive, both angry but also slightly amused, wondering whether to stay or leave. The young woman then tried to pay with a credit card at which point he showed her his sign of 10 dollar minimum. She tried to tell him she only wanted to iced decaf coffees and wanted to understand why it was more than 8 dollars... He was so extremely aggressive with his energy, really, off the testosterone chart! She just surrendered and dug around for change in her purse and paid cash. I decided to amuse myself and see how it would go for me. I ordered my 2 beverages, one with Soy (-oh the humanity!) and I also explained that I have a dairy allergy and get very sick if I consume either dairy or gluten. I watched him process this while grappling with some kind of inner demon. I'm pretty sure he could tell I had his number, I'm no kid. And I'm also pretty sure he already knew his behaviour was over the top aggressive. When the drinks were made, and payment was processed he turned to the young lady his employee and said loud enough for me to hear "I really need to eat something" Yeah? NO --- REALLY?! You THINK? Oh, the coffee? It was 'meh'

I ordered a slice of pizza, a latte, and a chicken samosa which the owner/cashier promised to be excellent. He even said he wouldn't charge anything if I dislike it. For the record, when someone says this, 95% of the time, the food usually sucks. Well, let's see. The latte was mostly foam and the pizza looked like the ones from Granville Street. The samosa was definitely a big FAIL--lukewarm on the inside with very little chicken and very doughy and dry on the outside. Overall, it didn't taste fresh. I don't even want to guess how long the samosas were sitting in the display case. Worst samosa ever! Expect some wait if it's a bit crowded because there was pretty much one person manning the entire cafe--and that was on a weekend. The items here were cheaper that most of the shops on the street but let's just say I would pay a little more to dine elsewhere.
