This is one of my favorite Bowen Island spot for delicious breakfast foods. They only serve the "fancier"breakfast items between 8am to 2pm so go before 2pm if you want a full breakfast meal. It's also nice that they start as early as 545am to coincide with the first ferry sailing departing from Bowen Island. This is a cozy cafe with good pastries, coffee and yummy savory items like soup and sandwiches. There are often lineups and you need to budget extra time for foods here if you are buying foods that requires cooking. There are food options here that quick for to go orders such as chia seed pudding and muffins, etc. Walking distance from Snug Cove ferry terminal and people heading off island can park their car in the ferry lineup then order coffee or foods to go. I ordered the Snug wich and my partner ordered the Chorizo wrap. We came on a Friday morning and it was very quiet. There was a good selection of breakfast food and drinks. We just ordered a quick breakfast before heading on our day around Bowen Island. I LOVED my Snug wich, particularly the croissant as opposed to the traditional English muffin. A very cute cafe close to the ferry terminal! I love the cosiness of the interior. I came on a rainy day but I can imagine it would be nice to sit outside when it's dry out. The food and drinks were served very quickly. Prices of the drinks compared to Vancouver are better. My girlfriend got the iced dirty chai latte and I got a hot chai latte. She really enjoyed her drink and I enjoyed mine too. She wasn't terribly fond of the scone because she thought it was dry but I liked it. I went here with a friend a month ago. We felt like visiting Bowen Island to get away from the city. We went here for lunch before going for a walk. The Snug Cafe was conveniently located next to the ferry terminal. It had nice outdoor seatings in this cafe. Server will bring food when food is ready. We had Chicken Caesar wrap ($10.95) and Reuben ($10.95) they were okay. I personally thought it was just premade food heated up. They also sell soup, tea and coffee as well. Wifi is also available here. Tables looked like a mini garden. Line ups can get busy here. It wasn't the best cafe in my personal opinion, but you can get snacks, coffee and some grubs. read more

I went here with my family and two of us are vegan. Two of us ordered vegan burritos on two separate orders, apple crisp a coffee and a pie. Not once but twice we were served a non vegan burrito in place of the vegan ones. We had to approach them twice about it and they informed us they sold out of the vegan ones while we waited to be served them after having paid. The apple crisp they served was frozen solid and we never received the coffee. Ultimately we asked for a refund on one of the vegan burritos and we didn't get an apology. read more

Gonna be honest, in terms of food quality for Bowen Island, this place is a 5/5. However, me bring the spoiled Vancouverite I am, I wasn't blown away. Everything was pretty good, but extremely overpriced (what a surprise). A small breakfast for two will set you back $50, but with the lineups this place gets, I doubt they'll be changing their business model anytime soon. I'd give this place a 3/5 overall, but because they are possibly the only place on Bowen with vegan options that *don't* taste like toilet water, I will boost them to 4/5 for that alone. We went to Bowen Island last weekend for a little getaway, and found this cute little cafe. Both mornings on the island we went to the Snug Cafe for coffee and breakfast. It's a very cozy little coffee shop, with great outdoor seating! The food selection is big, and everything looks delicious. Over the weekend I tried the cinnamon bun (awesome!), breakfast cookie (ok, but not enough for me for breakfast), a scone (yummy) and a yogurt and granola parfait (very satisfying). I wish I could have tried more because all of their baked goods looked amazing, and they had a big selection of breakfast sandwiches, other sandwiches, and hot meals. The service was friendly and efficient. The only minus according to my friend was the coffee - she didn't think it was that good (we had americanos both days). I didn't mind it, but I'm not picky about my coffee. Overall I would definitely recommend this spot, and will be back next time I'm on Bowen. read more

Spent the day on Bowen Island and started the day off at The Snug Cafe. This spot is a bright blue building located a short 3 minute walk from the ferry terminal. When we arrived around 8:30am, it wasn't too busy, however as we were leaving more and more people started coming in. So we were happy that we beat the rush of people. You order at the counter and then they call your name once your food is ready. Their menu consists of a variety of breakfast items, sandwiches, benedicts, pastries, smoothies, and juices. I ordered the veggie breakfast burrito and the Dr. Immunity juice. I loved both items. The veggie breakfast burrito was jam packed with spinach, mushroom, red pepper, potatoes, cheddar, and salsa. It was both delicious and filling and the perfect fuel right before a hike. The Dr. Immunity juice had a blend of spinach, ginger, turmeric, apple, and oranges. It was refreshing and tasted like health in a cup. There are plenty of tables outside, so my friend and I posted up at one of the larger picnic tables. Sunshine, breakfast burritos, and good company? I couldn't have started my day any better. The staff was super friendly, the food came out quickly and tasted yummy, and the ambiance was cozy and relaxing. A cozy cafe with a fitting name. If you're making a trip to Bowen island, I recommend checking this place out. They had plenty of options for drinks, snacks, or meals. We tried their raspberry coconut tart, which was 50% off because it was a day old. However, it still tasted good and wasn't too sweet. We also tried their vegan breakfast sandwich. Took a little day trip to explore Bowen Island. Chill place, go for nature walks, friendly locals! Anyhow about snug cafe! Social distancing was practiced well here. Good spacing, everyone understood and respected each other. Tables were spaced well outside. It was worth the lineup. We were there for breakfast. The only place to get breakfast on Bowen Island. It is the best because it is the ONLY place to get breakfast on Bowen Island. The food is ok but the service is glacially slow. The poor person working the cash register does everything so the line really backs up. Coupled with the fact that tourists stand in line for 20 min then don't decide what they want until they are standing in front of the cash register. If they had one person taking orders and someone else getting coffee and croissants it would speed things up. So many amazing choices. The BBQ Chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. The Steak Pastry was out of this world and worth coming to Bowen Island alone for. The only urgent thing that needs to be addressed in terms of creating a safer experience during the coronavirus is that those customers waiting for their orders outside need to have a designated waiting area way, way off to the far left (towards the distillery next door), so they don't impede new customers outside who haven't ordered yet (and can't tell who is in line or who is waiting) but also so they don't impede the staff bringing orders out for not just them but people waiting at tables nearby. read more

Disorganized snippy service with attitude. Don't waste your money here. We were next in line and waited patiently outside as their signage asks only to watch others walk through the back door and walk right up to the order counter. Each time we said something to the the cashier she snapped at us to wait outside. Fifteen minutes and watching 6 people (and their families) jump the queue I went in to ask what the heck was going on -- and was asked to wait outside again. Rather than asking the latest queue jumpers to go to the back of the line they again served them and tried to make us feel like jerks for saying something. These people are disorganized and have a terrible approach to basics in customer service. Don't waste your money here! By the way, we ended up spending over $200 next door, so there is indeed a cost to driving customers away. read more

Stopped by this place while waiting for the ferry off of Bowen Island. I was pleased with their selection of vegetarian fair, and ordered a veggie wrap and an iced coffee to go. The veggie wrap had a good variety of different veggies, and some crumbled feta and what not and WOULD have been delicious... BUT they grilled it. 'But grilled things are delicious!!', I hear you saying. They can be. But here are some grilled things that are decidedly NOT delicious - lettuce; cucumber. Instead of being crispy and fresh on the inside, this wrap was made sweaty and soggy by an unsolicited grilling. I ended up pulling most of the hot vegetables out. bleh. ANYWAYS... everyone else seemed to enjoy their food thoroughly, and it was a cute little shop with friendly service as well.
