This place has savory galettes, and sweet crepes. They don't have savory crepes. Anyway the savory galettes were 13 dollars. Me and the person I was with split one. They served it on two separate plates with a separate salad for each of us (that was really nice). They were also willing to substitute any ingredients! That was really nice as well. The galette was delicious (it was the chicken one with spinach instead of prosciutto). The mixed greens were so good too. Even though they were plain mixed greens I think the balsamic that accompanied them made them taste amazing. Most important: We both SPLIT the galette and were FULL. The portion size is huge. Half a galette was the perfect amount for us. That came to be about 7 dollars a person. That is a crazy good price for what we got. What a wonderful place! This was an ideal meeting space for my family. A quick walk from the Metuchen train stop for coming-from-the-city me, and easy parking nearby for the rest of the fam. The interior of Cafe Paris is cozy yet spacious, and we were charmed by the music playing (which was just loud enough to enjoy, but not so loud we couldn't easily maintain a conversation). The menu hit the sweet spot of offering something for everyone AND having interesting options as well. Mom and I got great savory crepes - sausage for me, lamb for her. (Oh, that lamb.) Brother dude got a pineapple chicken that elicited a wide-eyed WOW. Then, obviously, a sweet crepe to share. All served by Joe, who was so funny and charming and took great care of us. Definitely a go-to spot in Metuchen! A small cafe with a Parisian theme and beautiful austere deco. I came here with my sister for crepes but it's a good place for breafast, lunch, and dessert. The menu also offers soups, appetizers, entrees, hors d'oeuvres, sandwiches, coffees/teas...as well as selection of vegetarian items. My sister and I tried the Crepe Chocolate D'Amour for ~$11. It's a bit pricey but they give fairly large servings. We split one between the two of us. We waited for around 5 minutes until our order arrived and we were pleasantly served w/ a large crepe topped with fresh strawberries, chocolate syrup, and wild berry sauce. The crepe skin itself was not too thin or thick, nor was it cooked too crispy. The decor is fine, you could think you were in Paris. The croque monsieur was bland and on the dry side. It was something we could've had from a diner. The Gallette exptoque, which is a crepe with turkey, tomatoes, swiss and brie, was good. The fries were the highlight. I would probably go back, but only to try something else. My friend and I were looking for a place we could have dessert and coffee at so we decided to give Cafe Paris a try. The interior of the cafe is cute and comfortable. We were greeted when we walked in and seated right away. The menu has lunch and breakfast which id like to come back and try, but this time we were here for the crepes. I ordered the crepe royale which had nutella, bananas and strawberries and my friend got the crepe with strawberries, nutella and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. With my crepe I ordered a spiced chai tea latte and my friend got a mocacchino. When we received our crepes I didn't realize how huge they would be. Mine was 10 dollars so it darn well should have been big haha. They were filled very liberally and they were very rich and delicious. I mean you can't really go wrong with Nutella and fruit. Our drinks were also very good. I'm picky about my chai tea lattes and this one was perfect. All in all we left stuffed but happy. If you're craving coffee and a decadent dessert be sure to stop here. Right from entering, you like the ambiance. The music gave a serene vibe. The style is unique, with portraits, cute tables, and memorable murals. Sitting next to the window gave a brighter feeling to the atmosphere that was mostly covered by dimming lights. I came to try out their signature Crepe dishes around brunch time. As a drink I ordered their Frozen Vanilla Chai Tea drink. It was above satisfactory, because there was slush on top. To improve the presentation they should add some whip cream to cover the slush. The taste was good, and worth the try. I ordered their Galette Exotique, which consisted of Spicy sausages, egg, roasted peppers, red onion,sour cream, and grated cheese. It also comes with a side of your choice. I chose the salad, just to keep things healthy, and you can ask for some dressing if you'd like. There were also the choice of a fruit cup or potato chips. Presentation was great, with the salad leaving no empty spaces, giving the sense of a full meal. The Crepe's taste was great, because the sausage was cooked right, and the other mixtures made a great combination of flavors. Then came time for dessert, because why not. I ordered the Crepe Melba, which consisted of fresh peaches and strawberries, homemade berry sauce, and vanilla ice cream(check the picture). Presentation was nice with this plate too. The dish didn't have a wow factor to it, but it was good. Definitely worth the wait. Which brings me to my next point, the service. The service was not great, decent at most. I had to wait awhile to order my drink, food and dessert. Now I did take some time in making my choices, but when I put down my menu, I was not attended to promptly. Be aware that there were a small number of customers, maybe three at most. Once I was done with my entree, I waited maybe five minutes after I was done for the waitress. Then I ordered the dessert. Stopped by with a friend for dinner during Metuchen Restaurant Week and the $19.99 deal was worth every penny. I ordered the quiche with the apple and walnut salad. While the balsamic vinaigrette kind of made the salad hard to eat, the quiche was cooked well. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate mousse crepe. I can see why people really like their crepes here because it's very well done! The servers were very polite people and they refilled our water as often as needed. DO NOT COME HERE!! By far the worst service experience I've ever encountered. Ordered an avocado toast no meat and the server brought it out with bacon over an hour later. We asked specifically to have the kitchen remake it and not just remove the bacon as we're vegetarian for religious reasons. I saw our server take the plate under the bar and try to just remove the bacon, I had to confront her and ask for the third time to have it remade. When it came out there were 4 pieces of toast with 1 slice of avocado total. We asked for additional avocado slices for the other toasts and she gave us attitude saying it would be extra and that she had remade the toast herself. She then came to the table and said that they ran out of avocado in an extremely rude manner. She continued to argue with us and stated that due to the pandemic there were no avocados and implied we should be more understanding (not even sure what the pandemic has to do with avocados...) She then slammed the check down on our table. We paid and another waiter brought our check back, we politely asked for her name to inform the manager of her rudeness and the waiter started to defend her and blame us - he stated multiple times "it's not her fault it's the kitchen's." We informed him that we understand if they ran out, we just wished it was communicated to us so we could have changed the order. He continued to blame us and I informed him that we'll be writing a review for the exceptionally bad service on Yelp/google to which he responded with "well I guess then Yelp will care." So yeah, hopefully you read this and care, and it helps you decide to go literally anywhere else! As they pointed out, we are in the middle of a pandemic and if you're going to support a local restaurant, it should at the very minimum be one with friendly staff that are able to adequately deliver a piece of toast topped with a raw vegetable without yelling at their customers. The different crepes I have tried are all very good. The future husband loves the "lait miel" which literally translates to milk with honey. The young woman who works here is always attentive. A friend and I went for brunch - the 2 ladies who worked here were not welcoming at all, in fact they were rude in every way but we just shrugged it off. I paid with my credit card and was signing the credit card slip when I saw the total for 2 people was $59.83... I thought it was a little high but still put $10 for tip despite the lack of decent service. I usually give 20%, didn't think they deserve even the $10 but wanted to be polite. I looked at the itemized receipt closely (thank God I did) and realized my total was actually $47.39 + $3.32 (tax) = $50.71. I questioned one of the staff and she said for $50 or more, gratuity of 18% is automatically added. Wtf??? Is that even legal?? And if tip is already added why does my credit card slip show "PRE-TIP AMOUNT" and has a line for "TIP"?? Mediocre food, rude staff, insane rules for tipping; we should report them to BBB. To the owner of Cafe Paris: You have no right to charge automatic tips (some restaurants do it for a large party, which is understandable, and those restaurants usually provide excellent service which you clearly don't know how to). Forget the taste of food (or lack thereof) and excellent service, is it that difficult to at least not be rude? You are in the service industry after all. We looked forward to visiting unfortunately had a very sad experience. The lamb was sliced frozen gyro meat probably from the 5 pound box available at restaurant depot-terrible. Prices are high for the products provided. The french onion soup is not authentic at all! No gruyere cheese croutons or croustade, the onions chewy. The broth not veal based. The asparagus and crab soup was mediocre - a tiny bit of crab meat. Bill includes 18% tip and tax on a sloppy hand written invoice-although waitress would not mention this. In addition a "tip line" is on the invoice. Any customer in good company would probably tip on top unless playing really good attention to the present bill; when questioning the waitress about this unusual practice I was attacked and should have read the menu more carefully as it is explained that tip is included. The croissant sandwiches were a sad soggy cold commercial croissant you find in the Costco family pack. There's a sign NO American Express! Although I paid via American Express. Overall misleading and a place we will not visit again. Understandably very slow day for a bistro the night before Easter Sunday-maybe they should consider to keep it closed for the holiday weekend instead of offering mediocre food and providing a staff that gives customers a bad attitude. read more

My friend keeps posting her food porn whenever she hits this spot, and I am such a sucker for French Toast that I made it my mission to check out this quaint cafe (even took my family with me) yesterday. Was with 4 people and @11:30 AM had no wait time and seated ourselves inside. Food arrived in a timely manner. Coffee was regular, French toast was good but nothing special (I've had better), Quiche with goat cheese and side of fruit salad was good, cup of butternut squash soup (a bit too sweet), croissant sandwich with turkey breast, and wild salmon burger, both with a side of fries, tasted okay. Overall, I'm giving the food/presentation 3-stars, but I have to say, they're pretty over-priced(Probably paying for the ambiance). Sadly though, I'm giving only 1 star coz of STAFF/ SERVICE...BE WARNED! My bill came out to be waaay more than what I was expecting to pay. Had to read the tab and go over each item only to see that the waitress crossed out the printed total ($59 pre-tax)AND wrote another amount($76.80 post-tax). Went up to the counter and asked lady to recalculate, but she looked at me and just said the tip was already added in the bill. Confused(coz their menu clearly printed an 18% gratuity for bills of $50 will be added), I informed her that she added over 18%, which she was quick to respond "For parties over 4, it is 20%". I asked where this was written, this lady just shrugged her shoulder...WTH??? Told her that they should mention this before adding it automatically. I should have read the reviews from previous customers before coming here; this same issue has happened and apparently continues. Manager/owner should do something about this. Personally, I think tipping is essential and should even be encouraged where applicable, but it should NEVER be imposed on the customer and especially NOT WITHOUT being forewarned. Came here over the weekend for a quick brunch with my sis before heading out to an appointment. We had originally planned to eat at another restaurant on the same street to find that they are opened later on Sundays, so we walked down the block and found this cute place. My sister ordered the French onion soup. Both of the orders came at a decent time, but I didn't get my tea until after asking a few waiters for it... And at that, they gave me a hot tea with a few ice cubes and a tea bag... For $2.99... The eggs and toast was nothing special, the French onion soup, according to my sis was okay. After we finished our orders, we waited for our check, which never came, so we had to hunt down waiter after waiter to get that... Needless to say, I won't be coming back here again. read more
