Amazing Experience multiple times! I live by the area and since I discovered cafe Ragazzi I can't wait to come back! This is by far the best pizza I have tried and they have amazing flavors and it is cooked in a pizza oven that makes the dough be right on point! They first bring bread with a great tomato spread sooo good. All my other dishes were delicious too. As a starter we had fried calamari which come with fried zucchini. The red sauce is amazing too! The artichoke great too!!! I would recommend trying the pizza!! Margheritta!!! As main entrance I had the ravioli filled with pear which is my must-order dish in this place!!! I also tried from my family the pasta which was really good and the Milanesa!!! The place is nice and the service is great! Here in Surfside for a few days waiting for Ian to pass by on west coast of Fla. Got recommendation from hotel bartender for Ragazzi and it exceeded expectations. Caprese Salad was great. Fresh tomatoes with melt in your mouth buffalo mozz. served with special tomato based dressing instead of traditional balsamic which was nice variation. Wife had special crab stuffed ravioli...simply delicious. I went for the Oso Bucca special. Fantastic fall off the bone veal over cheesy risoto... super!!! Way to much to eat in one sitting. I can't begin to tell you how amazing my experience was at Cafe Ragazzi the other night. The food was definetely top 3 out of the 100+ Italian I've ever had and the ambiance, service and overall value delivered 100% of the way. The margherita pizza was carefully crafted to start the show--Then came the fettuccini al ragu which I HIGHLY--This feast was followed by the Ravioli di Pere e Salvia 24 which was INCREDIBLE!! I also tried a delicious dish that involved an alfredo sauch with bolonese sauce on top. The restauring manager and 2-3 different servers came to our table to check on us!!I must say that I haven't had a meal like this in a very long time and I can't wait to return to the Surfside, FL area because I will feast on this again for sure!! enjoy!! read more

Went there with 2 other couples expecting a great meal. Ordered beet salad, beets were frozen. Not good. 4 of us had veal dishes all 4 were tough veal not what we expected. My wife had grouper special, very mushy like it was frozen fish not fresh. Very disappointed not going back soon. Service was good wine very good but overall terrible meals for all. Cafe Ragazzi appears to be a genuine Italian spot tucked away on a discreet corner in surfside. The wine selection is limited but still contains something for everyone. Service is smart and quick but also allows for conversation if the opportunity arises. The food however... well the food fell short. So short in fact that my guest and I decided to not continue our experience after the appetizers. Our first choice was the meatballs, because if an Italian restaurant fails with meatballs then there is no chance of either of us ordering entrees. My guest was against the choice because he has a very limited tolerance for poorly made meatballs however, I persisted because I felt we NEEDED to try them. To me, meatballs are one of the benchmarks of Italian food. We also added to our starters a small green salad and the Provoleta. I asked for the Green Salad with Goat cheese however, they topped it with blue cheese instead by mistake, NBD. The server caught the error before placing the dish on the table and said he would fix it but I said it was not a problem. I don't mind at all. The tomatoes seemed to have been cut a long time prior to serving which is not a big deal to me but is always a big deal to my chef bf so I now notice these things as well. To me, they still taste fine but he is correct, they lose their texture by being precut so long ago. Again, NBD but nothing special about this little salad. The Provoleta was served and it was smaller than I had seen online (yelp) and was also not anywhere nearly as crispy. Basically just cheese on arugula. Major EEHHHHHHhhhhhhh.. w/e NOW for the main event, the REAL test here!!! The meatballs!!!!! I am sorry to announce that they were nothing short of Soooooo disappointing..... and let me tell you if there is something I know, I know my meatballs. These little guys were literally just that, balls of meat. Boring, no recipe I imagine because there were no ingredients. They seem as if they just sit in the sauce forever and lose everything (taste/moisture etc) as they proceed to slowly get overcooked. The red sauce they were served in was basically a bolognese as I imagine the other little balls of meat sat in it for so long that they were all eventually breaking down. The sauce was nothing noteworthy which is also too bad. The ricotta tasted like it came straight from a bag. All too bad for such a cute little spot with seemingly high potential. Now I am not against using pre-made ricotta, not at all! I love the stuff!!! However, you have to do something to make your food stand out and putting together a bunch of pre-made ingredients is not the winning recipe. I am unsure what this place is known for but I will not be back to try to find out. read more

We have been coming here for years. We live nearby on Collins Ave. and this was our neighborhood place, and have enjoyed coming here. However lately, the quality of the service and food has been on a steady decline, with tonight being the last straw. The wait staff kept forgetting our order- forgot the beer- forgot the wine, etc. But the next transgression was like nothing I have ever seen before. Our appetizer was scallops. the first few were tasty, but one smelled so much like ammonia, my nose wrinkled up and I almost screamed. One taste, and I would have been sick for days. I promptly called over the manager. The manager took the offensive piece, and said he would show it to the chef. 10 minutes later, I asked the manager what the chef had to say about it. The manager said the chef thought the ammonia filled scallop was OK, and that there was no problem. I was very worried now that, if our chef chef, who could not smell extreme ammonia, what was our main course going to be like? Well the grouper was good, but my veal was tough like leather. We told the manager about how unhappy we were, and he did not really care. He just kept making excuses, and even though we did not ask for a refund, he claimed defensively that he would not give us a refund because we ate some of the scallops. On our way out, we used the toilet, and found there was no soap in the bathroom. The toilet seat was filthy, and there was dirty paper everywhere. I am not sure this explains the ammonia in the scallops, but it is consistent with the poor quality of the service and the food we experienced. We will never return to this restaurant. read more

We have been to this one many many times... And hopefully we will return for many more. Our first time was when this restaurant was no bigger than 5-6 tables. Now, this restaurant is all grown up and ALWAYS delivers. This restaurant has that cozy look. It's elegant, white table cloths and, although tables are kinda close together, it just feels right. Small bar as well but we've never had to wait for our table. As for parking, I believe they have valet but I always park on the street. Plenty of meter parking. We always bring our wine as well. For a corkage fee of $20 you can't go wrong. As for dinner, we've now had pretty much the entire menu. We've had the lasagna, the risotto, the crab ravioli, the gnocchis, the... you get the point. They were and continue to be very good options. This place has never had an off night!!! As for dessert, the chocolate mousse comes to mind. I also like the apple tart. Alright, the service is slow, the place feels claustrophobic and the food is not worth the visit. This is not "authentic Italian" or "the best Italian" as some put it. It's far from that. They might want to go to Italy first and then review it again. I have been there twice and I'll never go back. Bread is horrible, lasagna was extremely salty (it was sent back), pizza was undercooked ( you could taste the raw dough), risotto was bland... Ridiculously overpriced (food and wine) Careful if ordering a special, since they don't mention any prices... It looks like this restaurant used to be very good at some point, years ago. To bad I used to go 7 years ago 3 times a week for their amazing $7.95 lunch special. They had the best chicken francesce, penne pasta with fresh sauce, and salads. Now the chicken tasted frozen, and processed. The pasta was over cooked and dripping in oil. The food is just not the same. So sad because I live down the street and do miss dinning here. This is the best Italian place. I've been going here since i was a little girl with my family. Very homey, same employees, great ambience, and tremendous food. We even gone for special occasions. You definitely get your moneys worth. Even the take out is amazing. They're very accommodating and welcoming. Their Linguine Carbonara, & Fettuccini Alfredo are my favorites. Along with their Shrimp Risotto... that's my new favorite. Honestly there's nothing we have tried, that my family and I don't like. I was taken to this cozy Italian restaurant by a friend of mine for lunch one day. She told me everything on their menu was good. I found myself ordering something "safe." I had their special of the day, the spinach lasagna...Let me tell you something. I was close to eating the plate itself. I wiped the plate so clean with bread that it looked like it just came out of the dishwasher. After that experience, I dine here occasionally and have been satisfied everytime. In the evenings it is a dimly lit restaurant to enjoy with someone special. Occasionally they will have a live performer entertaining with music. Prices are fare and affordable. Especially for the quality of food served. One of my favorite Italian restaurants by far that is not a chain. read more

We walked in on a Friday night without reservations without a problem. Not to mention, our friends we were with seemed to be regulars and were greeted with kisses. It was a crowded little place, I often had to move my chair in for a waiter to get by, and I didn't think the big screen TVs with the basketball games really fit the atmosphere of the restaurant. Everything else was excellent. The bread on the table with the tomato was delicious, I decided not to order an appetizer because I knew I would eat too much of the bread! But others ordered salads, I tried the caprese salad with the house dressing and it was delicious! For dinner I had the risotto was excellent! Very filling but perfect :) Dessert we all split the apple tart which was a good idea surprisingly. We had tea and coffee to accompany the dessert. Great place, definitely would like to go back! Small, trattoria style Italian Restaurant about 2 blocks south of Bal Harbour Mall. Ragazzi has a very intimate feel to it, making it a good date restaurant. The first time I came here, the place was a small hole in the wall, but you can tell even then that it had a devoted following, as the place was always packed person-to-person, especially for weekend dinners. About 5 years ago, they bought the neighboring store and expanded, adding a full service bar and an open kitchen. Frankly, the place really needed to be expanded, but even on some nights, expect to wait, unless you make reservations in advance. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home, they always greet you warmly at the door and the service from there is prompt and professional. Food is well prepared and tasty. Try the Osso Buco, it's very flavorful and the meat falls right off the bone. Any of the risotto dishes are excellent, along with the pastas. The pizzas are just okay though, nothing spectacular. We are a young couple in our mid-twenties who had been looking for an authentic italian restaurant with no luck...of course until we found Cafe Ragazzi! Cafe Ragazzi is authentic italian food and the majority of the things are homemade. The customer service is amazing and we always feel like family going here. Luis is the waiter to ask for, he is the nicest and is always on top of everything. Regardless of the dessets you choose all will be delicious but our favorites are the chocolate moose and apple tart! YUM! I've been coming to Ragazzi since i can remember. And its tastes just as amazing as it did when i was a kid. Its been my favorite restaurant since. My godmother used to work at Harding Reality, which is just down the street, and i remember walking with her to her lunch, or sometimes meeting up with her there with my mom. great memories, great food.
