I'm bumping up my rating to 5 stars. This has become a regular stop for us. We've been a handful of times since my last review. Being from California I miss 2 types of Mexican restaurants. The first is super flavorful authentic Mexican. The second is really good, consistent, basic items (enchiladas, tacos, tamales) that you can order in combos. More streamlined. This hits the second need perfectly. The shredded beef (I like it in a taco) is AMAZING! So juicy and flavorful! The tortillas are lightly fried and just crispy enough. Chili verde is my favorite dish in general. The chili verde here is not what I think of when I'm craving that, but it's so good. I just consider it a different item and don't expect to get what I'd get at another type of restaurant. We need variety in life right? The chili rellano is so good! I order it most often. We love the salsa bar too! I love the relaxed fee of the place. We've met a lot of buffet workers and all seem to enjoy their job and are always easy to work with. They also seem to work together well. It's never super busy, so we never have to wait to be seated. But there are always people there. The best part for me is the price. We can eat here for the same price as somewhere like Chipotle (plus a tip of course) but get much better food and a better experience! read more

Craving classic Mexican food that not too spicy? Or if you love spicy and can customize the heat? Check out Javier's! The salsa bar is the star here, with all kinds of red and green salsas in varying levels of heat and flavor. The salsa they bring with the chips is very mild, so it's nice to get your own if you want some with more flavor. The guacamole and chicken tacos were is super tasty but could use more seasoning, in my opinion, but that's what all the salsa is for! The cheese enchiladas are my favorite kind: very basic cheese and tasty sauce. Rice and beans are also solid and complement the entrees. Drawbacks? No alcohol. At all. Not a margarita or cerveza in sight. Also, they didn't clear our table of dishes and food when we were done even though we were sitting for at least 30 minutes with all the dishes piled up. Great food and friendly and fast service, feels like and I believe is a small family run business. The food is good, and the salsa bar is fun. And it is affordable and even though it is one of only two Mexican restaurants (that I am aware of) in Farmington, it is my go to choice. read more

I tried this place for the first time recently and really enjoyed it! They're one of the few Utah places that I've tried that doesn't bring salsa to you in a ketchup bottle. Just in for a quick dinner. Pretty typical menu and settings. Located in a strip mall adjacent to the Kmart here in Farmington. Ordered Carne Asada Tacos with rice and beans. Not to many people here as it's pre dinner time. Got my order pretty fast. Was good but very usual in the taco world. Nothing really sticks out. Same with rice & beans. Still looking for that killer taco...... sure I will find it! Think Betos has a better taco. Would like to find that 5 star Taco in Utah. Davis County has more Mexican places to look. Visiting from SoCal and had a craving for some Mexican food. Javier's was the closest so we gave it a shot. I always rate an establishment by ordering a taco/enchilada combo meal with rice and beans. What a disappointment: Taco- Meh. Totally tasteless. Had to drown it in salsa to give it some taste. Cheese enchiladas - Decent. Enchilada sauce was a bit strange. Rice- Two thumbs down. Looked and tasted like rice you'd get at a Mediterranean restaurant. Even worse is that it looks nothing like Spanish rice. Beans - probably the best part of the meal. They were good. I wouldn't recommend Javier's if you're having a serous Jones for Mexican food. A couple taco supremes and a bean burrito at Taco Bell would be a better choice. Sorry Javier's. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The mole burrito was good, however it did not indicate their was rice inside on the menu so be warned. The salsa bar was a huge hit. I'd say the average would be about $40 for two adults and two children. read more

I like this place! I got the lucita which is pork cubes in a Chile verde sauce but it was red? Other than that is was fantastic I got take out and my lil tortillas were still warm when I got home. Chips were good but needed a touch more salt. The homies over at Javiers cook up some mean cuisine. Andrew is a home slice and an awesome waiter. The tavester was also a homie. The food is amazing, and so is the service. We eat here a few times a month and on occasion sometimes twice in a day if my wife finds out I had lunch here without her. Worst experience ever...I asked a friend where to get good Mexican food. Being Mexican myself yes I'll be picky, I ordered something simple, taco, enchilada, beans and rice. How do you screw up Spanish rice...well they did. The taco and enchiladas were nothing to brag about. I like to rate a Mexican restaurant on their beans...ok they were fine but I've had better. Suggestion...put some tomato sauce and spices in your rice...and train your staff to be more attentive to your customers. I gave this restaurant one star and I was being generous. read more

Javier's was good, however the waitress didn't ask if I wanted chicken or beef flautas so she brought out beef. I'm unsure if beef is the only type of flautas they have but anyways they were still good but the rice were some weird flavor. Also when I was ready to pay for my food I had the card on the table waiting for my waitress to get it but she walked by really fast and didn't even look at my card. If you are looking for some good Mexican food, keep looking because this is not it. They have a nice salsa bar which is really the best part of this palace. As for the food it was edible but noting I would ever come back for. The weirdest part is they don't even serve Spanish rice. It tastes identical to those $1 rice packets you buy at the store. My Chile relano was half the the size of anywhere else I've been and looked like they stuffed it with string cheese that didn't completely melt. The tamale was okay but noting to get excited about. This place was okay. Nothing really stood out to me though. I had the flautas and they were just okay. They didn't really have an exciting flavor and they seemed a tad over cooked. The inside of the building was old and outdated. The worst part for me was there was no alcohol! When I go to a Mexican place I need a margarita, I get this is Utah land of the Mormons but that's just ridiculous lol. read more

I love Javier's. I know they have other locations along the northern Wasatch but I've only been to the Farmington location. The food is always very hot and fresh, and the service is quick and friendly. We are fairly regular customers and we never have to give our drink orders - the drinks just show up with the chips and salsa. They really make an effort to remember us and make us feel warm and welcome. There is a wide variety of typical Mexican dishes, all of which are very good. Some of our favorites are the Enchiladas Mexicanas, the Carne Asada plate or the Carne Asada Tacos, the Huevos con Chorizo, and the Taquitos. The salsa bar has a variety of salsas, but we prefer the standard salsa served with the chips. And I have to say the Coke is the best. I don't know if it's real Mexican Coke, or if it's the classic red Coca-Cola see-thru plastic glasses it is served in, but it's so refreshing. I highly recommend this northern Utah gem. read more

Javier's was a delightful experience. I got pepe's combo plate and was amazed by the quantity and quality of meat (beef and chicken) in my burritos and tacos. I was also impressed by my wife's salad and the sheer amount of chicken it had. I would say this is comparable to Francisco's or El Matador. The salsa bar alone is worth the visit! read more

We are usually el matador regulars but we really liked this place. The food was really good.

I looked on the Javier's website for the Farmington location and called the Farmington location and ordered the Lunch Meal of Buritto AND Chile relleno for $8.99. I went to pick it up and they tried charging me $20. I refused to pay $20 when the menu on the website says that is $8.99. So, I only I got the buritto. They have no way to contact anyone except through Facebook messenger. Not only did it take weeks for responses, they would not do anything to remedy the situation. Very unprofessional and the food wasn't that good to warrant all the trouble I tried to go through to get ahold of someone. Try Fransisco's instead in Farmington. The food is amazing and the service is always great. read more

VEGAN FRIENDLY!!! Vegan Mexican food that is amazing! One of the owners is a Vegetarian. She was Vegan for a while and so she truly understands the restriction. They make vegan dishes off the menu if you ask. I get fajitas. Onions, green peppers, spinach, potatoes, beans, and guacamole. The corn tortillas are my favorite. This last visit she offered to make vegan bean tacos for me when I come back. The rest of the menu is delicious. My son loves the chicken burrito. I ate here before I went vegan and loved everything I tried. They have a salsa bar! Service is great, our server listened for ice noises and ran over to fill out drinks. If the vegan community discovers Javier's it will be hard to get a table. read more
