From CA and just passing through, Cafe Sabor was right next to our hotel so thought we'd give it a try. Being from CA we are used to reeeaaallllyyy good mexican food. Cafe Sabor did not disappoint. Combo fajitas were yummy especially with the house salsa, tortilla soup and chicken quesadilla were really good too. But, the homemade guacamole with huge chunks of avocado was amazing!!! Decent food, terrible service. Bar tender and our server chatted up a couple of girls for 30 minutes while we waited for drinks. Took me asking 3 times to finally get my drink....which was finally made by the manager. Of course then it had a hair in it. Yum. Skip the fajitas. Burritos are tasty. This was my second shot, unfortunately it was exact same result with awful service both times. We had friends eating downstairs, they said they had identical poor service. We moved to St George 3 months ago from San Diego and have been looking for good Mexican food ever since . Found several average place's and today hit the jackpot. I didn't know Cafe Sabor was a Mexican restaurant. My barber told me about it and highly recommended it. We are delighted, there are many as good as restaurants in San Diego but we cannot think of one better and many not as good. Simply put, outstanding food and excellent service. The menu is first class. Four in our party and we all ordered different dishes. Four opinions all five stars. We are loving St. George and Cafe Sabor put the icing on the cake. This is a wonderful option for a taste of Mexican food. While I wouldn't call it authentic Mexican it is a wonderful place to eat. Most of the time the service is great, Efren is by far the best there. The Thursday special is a great deal. read more

Normally our experience at Cafe Sabor is very nice. Not today. Arrived about 4 in the afternoon, not really busy but service was very slow, food looked like it had been prepared for the lunch rush and then just left to sit out until somebody ordered it. Bowl of chips and salsa had stale chips, old enough to be tough not crisp and even our 5 and 11 year old grand kids didn't want them. When our food arrived the plate was very hot, but the burrito/sauce/cheese was barely warm. It just looked old. Our grand kids never got their ice cream that is supposed to come with the kids meals and after the food was delivered we never saw our waiter again until time to bring the check. No check for drink refills, no checking to see how everything was. read more

We almost missed this place. Great street appeal, friendly staff, amazing food. Chips were warm, salsa had the right consistency and spice. Ordered the carne asada burrito... couldn't have been happier. As I watched it be set on the table I was impressed. Couldn't finish all of it but sure tried. The margarita was delicious. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant for our anniversary. Things started out ok, the steak fries tasted great. I Ordered the traditional burrito and my wife had enchiladas, unfortunately both were pretty bland on taste. It seemed our waitress was a little pre occupied as they never did bring chips to our table and the refills on the drinks were lacking. I had heard Sabor was good, but as for me, I am not very impressed. I suggest you save your money. read more

This is a combination of two visits. A couple of months ago we went in about 7pm with a party of 4 for dinner. The seating in the bar is uncomfortable at best and is not any better downstairs. Two of our party had been seated 10-15 minutes before my wife and I arrived and were still waiting for drinks. When their drinks were served we ordered ours and waited the same amount of time so when the server returned we were ready to order our meal. We were informed that she had two tables ahead of us so we ordered another round. So we sat there with empty glasses for another 10-15 minutes before we received our drinks and thankfully were able to order our meal. It took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive and only 3 of us were served and those meals were tepid at best. The 4th person in our party was finally served 10 minutes later just about the time the other 3 of us were finished. The food well...... The chips and salsa were storeboughtish. Not bad but nothing exceptional. The main course didn't taste bad at all.... it was just bland like most of the typical Mexican food in Utah. To end the evening our bills got all screwed up and it took the server and manager a bit to get it all squared away. We left with the attitude that they had not been open long and we'll give it another shot in a few months. Fast forward to Wed 4/18...... My wife decided to catch a late lunch and figured we would give this place another go. We arrived around 2pm and were seated right away in the dining room. And that's where it ended.... 15 minutes later... no server, no water, no chips and salsa, no "I'll be right with you guys".... nothing. As we were walking out two employees that were standing by the kitchen doors looked right through us as if they couldn't less that we were leaving without being served...... I will not darken the doors of this so called restaurant again. We drove two blocks east and had a great meal, a couple of cold beers and good friendly service for about half the price and the food was fresh and tasty. Ninfa's..... I recommend it. I'm not sure Café Sabor will make it to the end of the year. read more

Had a good dinner there this evening. Food was good. Atmosphere was a little noisy, but very upbeat. Had great service--Whitney was our server and was very surprised when the busboy Frank appeared with a refresh on the salsa. I'd recommend, and we will be back. Let me start of with The food was great! We have been there 2 times.. The 1st time I would give it a 5 star great service and great food. 2nd time we decided to take our friends. Service was terrible!!! Got sat at our table with no menus. Waited 10 mins till our waitress arrived. Had to ask for menus. She got our drink order brought us our drinks. At this point asked if we were ready to order. We had 2 two year olds with us so I asked that they had on the kids menu. Oh let me grab you those. Finally ordered. She never refilled our drinks. Instead she hung out at the table next to us with her friends. I finally asked someone else for refills. If that was my 1st experience I would probably never go back. My family and I were so excited to eat here! Even more excited when we got to the joint and noticed how awesome it was on the inside. We were fooled. Although the atmosphere is awesome; the food was god awful. I mean god awful. My rice was crunchy and my beans were runny. My tamale did not come wrapped and steaming inside a corn husk; It felt microwaved and resembled plastic. I didn't even touch my taco as the flour tortilla was somehow slimy and soggy. The chips and dip (which resembled a runny ketchup) were honestly the best part. It was also so ridiculously cold upstairs in the bar. The AC was running in December and my family couldn't wait to go outside and warm up. It honestly hurt my soul to pay for such an EXPENSIVE meal and be served Mexican food that doesn't even compare to Del Taco. I've been here a couple times. The first time I can't remember what I got--a chicken dish of some sort. The chicken was dry but everything else was great and the waiter was FAB! I went again today to the upstairs bar with the girls...I had the passion fruit Sabor-arita and it was DELISH!! I had the chipotle chicken salad and it was yummy and fresh. Went to Cafe Sabor yesterday for the first time. We were sat down and given chips and salsa; our order wasn't taken for another 10 minutes. By the time our order was taken we were needing a refill on salsa which we asked for. Over 20 minutes went by before our food was ready. During this time, our waiter Evan did not check on our table. He did not give us an update or give us napkins and serve ware. I had to get up from the table to ask a server at the bar for the napkins and serve-ware. When the fajitas we ordered were given to us, we weren't given our tortillas which is obviously a needed item to actually put together a fajita. After 5 mins waiting for the tortillas we had to get up from the table again to ask another server for them. Another 5 minutes passed before we were given all of our food. No apologizes were given. After we ate the check was left without being asked if we needed anything else or wanted dessert. No exaggeration, the worst experience. read more

We have eaten here before, and the food is good, but I gotta say, today the service was abysmal !! When we came in, there was nobody at the front desk, so after waiting for a time, we decided to sit upstairs at the bar. It took a long time for a server to come, who asked what we wanted, although if observant, they could see we had no menu. Then our food took quite a long while to come out. When it did, it was plopped in front of us without a question of if we needed anything else, like silverware. We sat there for a bit with our food getting cold and finally our server came back to ask if everything was ok, although we were unable to yet sample the food without silverware. When we left we took the remaining burrito in a to go box, which had a hole that leaked salsa all over me as I left, and we had to go back in that place and once again see if we could catch someone to help us. Loved their chips and salsa! But dishonest servers. Not even sure what to do but we ordered a chimichanga and 1 taco with waters. Our bill was around $14. My credit card got charged close to $30 so the waiter must have tacked on a huge tip for himself when cash tip was left :( super disappointed. read more

I have never done a yelp review before, but our experience last night was so great I really wanted to share! We were in town during a very busy weekend in st. George. We needed a place for a large (30 people) group. Cafe Sabor came through with two large tables in the lower level. They didn't even complain when we had a few unexpected people show up. The chips, salsa and water were served as soon as we sat down. Our waiter was very patient with our split checks, and when some people in our party had to wait a little longer for their food, he gave them fried ice cream at the end. The owner was helping throughout the evening, as well as many extra staff. I know what a pain large parties can be, and they were very gracious and great at taking care of us. Now to the food. Chips and salsa are the best I've had at any restaurant. Bonus points for keeping the chips and salsa bowls full. I shared the combo fajitas for two - only $20 for steak, chicken and shrimp, and we each got our own large plate of toppings ::: guacamole, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, pico, rice and beans. All the meats were fantastic but my favorite was the steak. We had plenty of tortillas too. The burritos were huge and I heard they were delicious. Good diet coke- which is a must at a Mexican restaurant. I love this place so much I am trying to talk the owner into opening one in lehi. Thank you cafe Sabor!! We moved to Washington County over a year ago. The restaurant variety in this area is lacking. Cafe Sabor offers fantastic service and delightful food. Our party ordered street tacos, carne asada salad, and shrimp burrito. All dishes were perfect. The meals were finished off with fried ice-cream. This is the authentic flash fried, caramel, chocolate syrup and hints of cinnamon...no cornflake topping here. Thank you for a wonderful evening. I'm a Mexican and southwest cuisine lover so as a new resident of St George I was excited to try this place. I was disappointed, but perhaps my expectations were too high. At least on the night we walked in the door, the quality of the food and the service was average at best. The service was slow except when it came to trying to process the bill. I had a chipotle chicken burrito and it was bland and covered with too much cheese that didn't really taste like cheese. I didn't want to be rude so I ate about half, boxed the rest and promptly tossed it in the trash when I got home. The Margarita was fineI should say. Not sure if I would give this place another try but I really would like this to be a place I would take friends to and look forward to myself. The rating should be between Two and three stars. We were seated upstairs. The decor can be described as industrial/sterile. Cushioned bench seating with 90 degree seat backs attached to the walls was very uncomfortable. Alternate seating was on metal chairs (no cushions). Chips and salsa were delivered quickly. At least half the chips were broken (pieces). The salsa was very good -- a bit hotter than normal. When ordering, my wife asked if they could put minimal cheese in the chimichanga, but the waitress said it's not possible because they are "pre-made". We finished off the chips and salsa before the meal came out, but nobody came by and asked if we wanted more (that's a first for us at a Mexican restaurant). I ordered the combination plate with a tostada, my wife ordered the beef fajitas. We both agree, the refried beans were unremarkable, the rice was surprisingly tasteless. The tostada was good. The beef fajita was colorful but bland. There are far better options in St. George. read more

The upstairs is the place to be! Great views overlooking the city and the beautiful red mountains glow at sunset. The bar is upstairs and there is seating in tables. I recommend that small groups sit at the bar and let Chanley take care of you. She is the best! Margaritas are only $3! The chips are addictive. Not like anything else in town. The salsa is yummy. We haven't found anything that we have ordered that wasn't to our liking. I would choose something other than the crunchy tacos. Not bad, but not as wonderful as everything else. The beans and rice are real good. I don't know what it is about the rice, but it is extra good. Not tomatoey like most places. I don't know how to describe it, but even my hubby who doesn't like rice, likes this! I love the extra wide forks to help you really get a good bite. This place just has a good vibe about it!
