Bare bones and the real deal. Had two breakfast burritos and both were good size and flavorful. Good salsa and pico. Delish. *only improvement would be salsa bar

Great food and great price. Wish the hours weren't as limited as they seem to be. Stopped by Saturday around noon and they're closed. Stopped by today just before closing. I know, I know... place was locked down employees seem to be gone home. Like I said, great food but the hours of service don't seem to be strictly adhered to.

Blink and you miss it. Decent breakfast burritos although they could be seasoned more. Surprising, even for the chorizo breakfast burrito. They both needed the hot sauce. Full of mostly potato, not much egg or meat. But the burritos were hot and filling. I'd like to come back and try the tacos. I think it's worth exploring the menu, particularly considering other reviews.

Pros Good value and flavors Accepts Android and Google Pay Friendly service Serve Coca-Cola products Good amount of seating in air conditioning Easy parking Cons None really, perhaps more seasoning on Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Chicken Hidden gem with good food. They are located in an industrial/commercial part of town. Tried their combo plates with different types of street tacos. It was good. Chicken and Carnitas could have benefited from more seasoning. The Carne Asada was good on its own. Wife had Al Pastor as well and it could have used more seasoning. Beans and rice were fine. It's fantastic that they have daily $1 taco specials. A different kind of taco each day with a minimum order of two. I've posted a photo of the daily taco special so check it out. Will definitely come back.

    Carnitas are the best!

I gave this place five stars even though they have the worst horchata I've ever had. But their Carnitas plate made up for it. They have the best Carnitas I've had in a long time. They take great care into removing all the fat. The rice and beans were very fresh. This is good old-fashioned home cooking like my mama used to make. I sure hope they change there horchata because that's what I usually like to have with my Mexican food.

I was looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast close to where I had plans to meet a few business associates. The area turned out to mostly industrial and I really didn't have time to turn around and go back to the city center where most of the restaurants are located. I happened upon Tacos El Monchis and could tell they hadn't been opened long but the sign out front it said they did serve breakfast. This turned out to be great find the interior showed sign of a recent renovation even though it's located in a newer strip mall it was very clean but empty, being somewhat of a skeptic at times I was determined to order sometime simple but after reviewing the choices on the menu my mind was set to order the breakfast burrito filled with scrambled eggs, potatoes and chorizo. The server told me everything was prepared fresh to order so it would take a few minutes so I grabbed a bottle of water and watched the kitchen prepare this giant burrito filled with fresh eggs, crispy potatoes and finally the fried chorizo all neatly wrapped in a fresh warm tortilla. As I approach the counter to pick up my order she told me they had freshly prepared red and green salsas the green being the hotter of the two. I close the green it was absolutely some of the best green salsa I've tasted in quite sometime it did come with some heat but was perfect for my taste. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to have a chance to visit them again very polite owners and the food is amazing I know where you'd find me daily if I worked in the area and the prices were ridiculously reasonable.

The food was delicious. The service was superb and the ambience was OK. It made up for the delicious food.

Sadly the mild salsa was an over blended conglomeration with little distinctive flavor. They should walk a block down to Angelica's and steal their mild salsa/pico which is one of the best I have ever had. The salsa and chips are your first introduction/impression to the meal, so they must be done right. I ordered the Carne Asada and my wife order a single fish taco ( She is a small eater). My Carne had a very good charred flavor. It was slightly over cooked and came out a little tough. It would have been great had it been tenderized. The rice was acceptable and the refried beans were quite good. Now, here is where it falls apart. My wife's fish taco was "fishy" which means a strong flavor. When our server came over we told him of the "fishy" flavor. He asked if she liked it and she said no. His response was "sorry about that." Really? It was a five dollar taco not a $75 filet at a high end steakhouse . The server should have been empowered by management to immediately rectify the situation and asked; "Would you like something else?" How simple. But "sorry about that" is the truly worst response you can give to a customer. Management at Sabor should address this and train their staff to satisfy the customer. The food could have been five star gourmet, but you never treat a customer like that, never. I couldn't give Sabor higher than a three because of this terrible breach in customer service. We won't return.

Went in and multiple people had shrimp or seafood cocktails that were monster sized. Just went for a burrito and it was delicious. Fast forward to last night, and again staying in a nearby hotel and went to Las Palmas. It's nothing to look at...just a food stand in a gas station. But the lady who took our order was friendly and nice and helpful. Wife ordered a quesadilla with shredded chicken. I got a carne asada burrito with rice and guacamole. They also have a salsa bar...I got the salsa verde and some of the spicy jalapeños, carrots, and onions. Everything tasted great. Lots of carne asada and guacamole in the burrito. The salsa was perfect, and my wife also enjoyed hers. Neither of us could finish. Total cost with a large drink was $26. Overall great value and very good food. Much better than the standard fast food options.

From there, it gets worse. There was an ample amount of cheese, however, there was no pico de gallo, cream or guac. I thought that there might have been a communication error, or maybe their Cali burrito isn't what I had come to expect. So, I decided to try their sister restaurant off of Brigham to make sure. Here I got pretty much the same thing except this time it had pico & crema. Still disappointing. When I think back about the place on Convention, I have to say I was also a little bothered about their kitchen practices. I saw the girl in the front of house and the cook eating while working. As for some better alternatives with a proper Cali burrito (in no particular order): - Monchis on River - Tacos Plaza on River - Aimars on Main As for Las Palmas, I can say that the rolled tacos are good. Also, I will be going back to try other menu options, like the carne asada fries and the bean and cheese burro. Let's hope that these other items sing.
