I love coming to Café Santo- just wish they had a location in San Diego. This spot has such a vibe. I always go for the chilaquiles, and they seriously taste like home. Perfectly crispy with just the right amount of spice- comfort food done right. I usually order their iced Mexican mocha, but this time I switched it up and tried the iced arroz tatemado latte... sooo good. Lately they've been doing vinyl pop-ups with El Marchante, which makes the whole experience even better. Coffee and vinyls? Say less. Customer service can be a hit or miss, and parking can be a little tough, but honestly, I keep coming back for the food, drinks, and overall vibe.

I've stopped by here a few times just for coffee, and there's almost always a line, which is usually a good sign. The coffee is great, but this was my first time trying their breakfast. I didn't even realize they served breakfast until I looked it up. This is a small pop-up spot right on Whittier Blvd, so parking can be a little tough. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, brioche French toast, and avocado toast. Unfortunately, the sandwich I originally wanted was already sold out, and my son missed the last ham and cheese croissant by just a minute, so definitely get there early if you want the full menu. The brioche French toast was really good, and my breakfast sandwich was delicious. The avocado toast had great flavor but was a bit too salty. When I mentioned it, they were very kind and immediately replaced it with a fresh one with no problem. The second one was perfect. They explained that the oil and sauce had separated, which caused the saltiness. Had the Arroz Tatemado and Oaxacan Mocha both great choices for coffee beverages. Aside from those small hiccups, this place would easily be a 5-star spot. Friendly service, great coffee, and nice outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back.

First time stopping by here with a friend's recommendation. She did not disappoint. This little cozy mom n pop cafe shack is solid. I opted for the specialty, Oaxacan Mocha (Great choice complimented by the co-owner Marlon at the register) The hot version which I got comes with their Oaxacan chocolate blended with almonds and cinnamon, double shot of expresso and milk. Muu delicioso! Definitely a great way to start a beautiful gloomy Saturday morning in Southern Cali. Will update with more details once my breakfast date shows up so we can order and try their pastries and breakfast specials.

Wanted to try a new coffee shop since I was in the area for work. They had just opened so I was excited to see new items on the menu but was overwhelmed by the cloud of smoke coming from the shop. A staff member made a joke to the other girl for burning the coffee and ofc I ignored it, staff making jokes with eachother...no biggie? Well I ordered a coffee and once I got in my car I realized it was incredibly burnt. It was hard to enjoy the flavors of the coffee because it was so bitter and awful. I was surprised they sold me coffee of this quality. So unfortunate that an establishment would serve someone burnt coffee and mask it with syrup and milk thinking nobody would notice. I was upset because not only did I pay $9 AND TIP, but I was so nice and excited to try something new. I'll never return.

Located at the BLVD in downtown Montebello. It is the stall that is facing Whittier Blvd. I love chocolate so I've been wanting to try this place for a while. They offer Oaxacan style coffee and drinks. They use Oaxacan chocolate in their mocha and coffee. I ordered the iced Oaxacan mocha and it was delicious! The chocolate and espresso were a good combo and balanced perfectly. They also offer some food. Their service is great. It can get busy so it may take a little time to make your drink. Definitely coming back for the mocha, it's now one of my favorite places for mocha.

This is a cute little spot in Downtown Montebello with outdoor seating only. Around the back they have a charming outdoor space with lots of shade. I managed to find the 1 table next to a power outlet. You can also sit inside if you walk into the food kitchen next door called the BLVD MRKT. I ordered a hot mocha and a Topo Chico mineral water, and thought that their pricing was fair. I don't believe I was asked to tip at the register, however, there were free gifts at the counter that you can give a donation for. The gifts were politically inspired. The lady who helped me had a pleasant smile and was very kind when she had to step away to make other people's drinks before taking my order. It was about 1130am on a workday, and it did seem like she was working by herself. I hope she got more help by lunchtime.

I had a lovely experience at Cafe Santo (Montebello). I ordered the Arroz Tatemado Latte ($6 - Iced - 16oz). It's espresso, toasted rice, cinnamon, brown sugar, and milk. With a light sip, I felt awake and happy. It's silky iced coffee that flows softly like melted caramel. I arrived at Cafe Santo (Montebello) on Thursday (around 11:23AM). Parking is inconvenient if unfamiliar with the area. I parked in a nearby neighborhood and walked over. There's street parking; however, I found it full. At arrival, I saw a steady flow of customers! There was a line. It's also surprising how Cafe Santo (Montebello) is directly across the street from the popular Roam & Brew Coffee. Regardless, Cafe Santo is also popular despite having no interior; rather, it's a counter with an outside patio. Staff is professional, welcoming, and helpful. Staff maintained a bright demeanor during my visit. My drink took five minutes and 35 seconds. Good pace. As mentioned, I absolutely adored the Arroz Tatemado Latte ($6 - Iced - 16oz). This coffee is not punchy nor coarse; rather, it's chill & soothing. It's not too sweet nor bitter, yet it confidently carries a fresh coffee flavor while maintaining an enduring caffeine. I felt my shoulders slump and my tension flutter away. I felt awake and happy. Concerning ambiance, Cafe Santo (Montebello) is a stall with an outside patio. There's about five outside tables with chairs. The umbrella's shade and fresh breeze almost felt tropical. I enjoyed the playful music. However, be alert since the occasional, unfortunate homeless person might wander nearby. Overall, I had a lovely experience at Cafe Santo (Montebello). The coffee is one of the best. If you prefer softer brews, the Arroz Tatemado Latte ($6 - Iced - 16oz) is a must-try. 4.9 out of 5. "GO!!"

Visited Cafe Santo on a busy Saturday morning, but despite the line (maybe 4-5 people ahead of me), my drinks were ready in under 10 minutes. I ordered an espresso tonic (pictured), an Arroz Tatemado Latte, and a regular vanilla latte. The vanilla latte was on the sweeter end, tonic was perfect, and the tatemado was very unique in flavor. Almost like an horchata. Plenty of outdoor seating available. Street parking can be a little difficult to find but there is a parking lot available off of 6th street.

I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Most of the time I just buy coffee, I enjoy the iced vanilla latte and the oxacan mocha. But sometimes when I'm hungry I'll get the chilaquiles and they are so good. So worth the price. I like to add an egg and avocado. I'm always able to find street parking so that's also a plus. The staff are friendly and I'll continue coming back.

In reference this was the time I went with a different coffee business but still supported their food.

I'm a montebello resident and when they fist opened I was excited to try something new and was happy to go support. It was early, not busy, we ordered 2 coffee and 15 mins later I went to check in and they forgot my drink. Only had given 1. The coffee was not great and for the price and wait time. On top of that the cashier was rude even when I had told her we've been waiting for our coffee. The following time I went with my son, we grabbed coffee elsewhere but wanted to have breakfast here and the Owner said "you know we sell coffee here" with a scoff, I was shocked as I was supporting this business for their food. Sad to see this place turn down people because they bring drinks from elsewhere. It's an outdoor cafe, at the BLVD, should they be happy we're supporting all businesses? Safe to say this business isn't a supporter for all businesses but simply themselves. After the last time, I swore to never return or support. They were rude all 3 times I went and honestly the customer service was terrible, especially coming from the manager or owner. Very disappointing.

Aegean quiche - amazing! Takes about 25 minutes to be ready to serve, but worth the wait. Iced Oaxaca chocolate - simply the best for this non caffeinated person. Super friendly baristas, and the perfect outdoor seating to enjoy the outdoors while under the shade. This might be my new favorite spot to work out of or simply hang out at.

Montebello has a cute hipster area, and this container coffee spot is at the forefront of it all! Found this while looking up Coffee Shops near Montebello that WEREN'T STARBUCKS. I love a good craft coffee with a down to earth vibe and knowledgeable baristas. Parking is pretty decent (street in front, or side, or lot to the right of them). Sidewalk is nice, but watch out for lifted concrete; don't wanna trip and spill your coffee! The vibe is a fun Cuban Street Vibe with Latin music, wooden chairs, and simple lines. Menu is easy to read, and alternative milk (Oat or Almond - NO Soy) is $1 up charge. My coffee was delicious, and relatively quick, even though the sign advises that it can take UP to 20 minutes for your drink. Be patient, be grateful, and enjoy your damn good coffee.

I visited cafe santo for the first time today. It was a bit before 10am and they already had a decent line. I was able to order pretty fast & was recommended the Arroz Tatemado Latte. The drink was pretty good. I loved how they had a pretty large sitting area in the back & staff made sure that you didn't miss your name being called. A couple of times I even saw them bring people their drinks. I plan on returning soon!!

I really wanted to love this place. It's such a cute space . The name alone of this drink sold me. Unfortunately, it lacked coffee flavor and all I could taste was oat milk with the grainy chocolate bits at the bottom If you're not a strong coffee lover this is perfect for you. At $6.75 for a 12oz cup, it's just not it for me. At least not this particular drink. I'll try the chai next time and see if that's better. read more

Came here on my way to a basketball game. I found it by chance on Yelp because it was on the way. I got a hot Oaxacan mocha, a carrot muffin, and an almond croissant. The service was great and the person working the register was very nice and told me what each pastry was so I could decide. Service was fast. It only took about five minutes to get my mocha and warmed up pastries. The outdoor seating behind the order window offered lots of empty spots to sit out front. The stand looked cute and menu was large and easy to read. I will definitely be back on my way to more basketball games lol. read more

Cute little spot for a nice pick-me-up. I got the iced vanilla latte, which was perfect in terms of consistency. I was able to get it with almond milk as well. A lot of these type of places look good on Instagram but when you get there you get catfished. Service with no service. Drinks are very sugary Limited food menu. Lazy cook mentality. Limited menu during the week and a couple more things on the weekend. Coffee was ok to ok. Doesn't taste from Oaxaca or where ever it's from. Invest less on Instagram and more with you menu and coffee taste. read more

i got the arroz latte and it was too milky and watered down and there was like a hint of brown sugar and cinnamon. my mom got the chocolate one and it was okay but extremely sweet and we ordered it half sweet and it was chunky. idk u can make better lattes at home. service was good. chairs are uncomfortable. read more

Cafe Santo is located right on the corner of Whittier and Sixth St. Next to blvd market where you can find other small food places and some outdoor seating. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday around 11. There was some street parking, and there is also lot across the street by the Italian restaurant. We ordered the French Toast and the Avocado Toast. I personally loved the avocado toast! For drinks, we got the iced Oaxacan chocolate and a iced vanilla latte. I really enjoyed this place, can't wait to go back. read more

Gotta say, this is pretty good mocha here. There are little chocolate pieces in there that gives it a nice little crunch on every sip. Love! Husband got the dirty Chai. Not super strong but the essence is Chai is there. He likes it! Totally recommend this place. Free public parking down the street too! Win win! read more

Friendly and helpful staff. I have been passing by this cafe for some time now. I tasted the vegan carrot muffin along with their coffee, and I was hooked. The ambiance is relaxing. Outdoor cafe vibes. Parking can be challenging as well as the street traffic noise, but overall, it's a cool place to hang out and enjoy coffee. The coffee was like below ok. I got the vanilla iced latte with oatmilk and there was no coffee flavor. Tasted like oatmilk with a whisper of vanilla. The coffee was 6 dollars so standard price but if you're a true coffee lover I would avoid going here. Service was fine and the seating area was cute. I wouldn't visit again. read more

I ordered the Matcha Latte with oat milk and sweetened with simple syrup and an almond danish. Right off the bat I could tell the matcha was not going to be good because it was really grainy and the color was a really light green. Once I tried it, it was basically just green milk . The almond danish was great, though! The service was great, just leaving this review mainly for the matcha fans out there bc its $6 (+$1 if you get alternative milk) for it to taste just like milk read more

Oaxacan mocha latte w oat milk plse! Hands down such a delicious iced coffee. Have been trying to go again but there's never any parking and I'm always pressed for time and they close at 2pm. I went at 430p after work..found parking only to walk up and it was closed! Such a sad moment cuz I was really wanting one. So if you have the time def drop by and try their coffees. I love Cafe Santo! I come like 2-3 times a week since I work down the street. I come and get the same thing every time, iced vanilla latte with oat milk. So so so good! Always very friendly and have some really good pastries. I really like the ube cookie and the chocolate croissant. It can get busy on the weekends, but I've never waited more than 10 minutes. The other restaurants bring a lot of attention too. I have never tried any of the restaurants, but there is more patio seating when you enter. The cute double patio tables add a little meeting ambiance or just enjoying a coffee with a friend. Lots of community members will walk by with dogs or even customers will bring their dogs. read more

I discovered this beautiful coffee shop while wandering around the silverlake farmers market. The man working the coffee stand makes excellent oaxacan mocha which comes with blended almonds. It had a nice nutty flavor. We also tried the regular mocha which was very delicious and strong. We would definately come back again if we are in the area. read more

So I've been to this place three or four times but it's been a while. How much can a place change in 3-4 months, well take a look at this. Hard bread no butter hardly any cheese, no flavor I couldn't eat it. No flavor whatsoever yet I paid $13 for this grilled cheese plate, it came with a side of greens at room temperature. Straight to the trash after 2 bites. And some wonder why places go out of business. Never again. read more

Firstly, I'd like to mention I'm all the way from Huntington Beach. This emus my second time trying Cafe Santo. The first time was from a pop-up during a Matteo linen sale (wasn't expecting specialty coffee to be here lol). Usually I would write long detailed reviews about the coffee but honestly, I don't have any constructive criticism. I don't want to say my coffee was perfect, but it was perfect. I'm a coffee purist and mostly drink iced americanos or just filter coffee. I ordered a iced americano, which at the time (not sure if they rotate espresso) was a blend of Ethiopian annnnnnd I forget the other origin. It was south American though. But I DO remember it being absolutely delicious and the origins complemented each other perfectly. If beautiful could taste like something, if would be my iced americano. Honestly it was delicious. To me, it had flavor notes of peanut butter and vanilla sweetness. Honestly guys, amazing. 10/10 absolutely delicious. I'll be back!!! Thank you! read more

Most of the time when you go to some of these hip & Trendy places with a lovely a aesthetic the food sometimes lacks a little flavor but NOT THIS lovely Spot ! The food was on point and the service was great took a little time but it was all worth IT ! , I ordered three plates and split it with my sister. We tried the chilaquiles which with both agreed were SO flavorful with a spicy kick just the way we like it. Than we had the yummy French toast which was perfect right after the spicy delicious chilaquiles and soften the palate with its fresh berries and light tasty flavors. And lastly I order half a Quiche for my son and he loved it I also got some bites of that and it was delicious !! 3 for 3 !! It was a win for me !!! Will come again !!! read more

We visited this place on June 26. This review is only for the owners customer service. The food is 5 stars . However, the owner (guy) was really rude and treated us poorly. We ordered the following: 3 order of chilaquiles. 1 with no extras (avocado & egg) 2 with "everything" as he mentioned. 1 coffee 1 granola bowl When our order arrived the 2 order of chilaquiles had only avocado with no egg. Since we assume we ordered with "everything". My husband asked in the back window and the owner said he didn't charge the egg. My husband confused said I ordered with everything, he replied that he didn't charge it. At this point we were confused but continued to eat the food as I mentioned it was delicious. The owner came to our table after a minutes and placed a small box with a egg in our table and still with a rude attitude said, " I didn't you charge the egg". It was unnecessary at this point for this guy to come to our table, since we didn't make any other complaints. We weren't asking for free food. We were just confused because at this point he didn't take the order right it wasn't our fault. We were willing to pay the extra fees for the additional toppings. We try our best to support local owner business but I didn't appreciate his rude attitude. read more

Cafe Santo is an Oaxacan-style coffee and food stall at BLVD MRKT. If you're curious to try Oaxacan-inspired drinks or enjoy mochas, definitely visit here. My favorite drink at Cafe Santo is their Oaxacan mocha, which includes Oaxacan chocolate, crushed almonds, and cinnamon. It's decadent, rich, and unlike anything I've tried in Los Angeles. The crushed almonds add texture, and the cinnamon perfectly balances the chocolate. I always order this iced, and it's a delicious indulgence. For my lactose intolerant friends, they offer milk subs. As for food, I've only ever tried the povolron cookies, which are delectable. They're palm sized, buttery short bread cookies with leche inside. I'd say they're fairly similar to a Mexican wedding cookie, but not as crumbly and with filling. If you see these in the pastry case, make sure to try them as they're not always available. Free street parking, and picnic style tables are available at the market patio. Cost is average (~$6 drink). I'll be back! read more

My first time visiting Boulevard Market and I was very excited to try this coffee place. I have a weird cinnamon allergy and the staff was very friendly, accomodating, and open to questions. The other restaurants in this area give you a buzzer to know when your order is ready. Unfortunately, they did not which meant I had to keep coming back to check if my coffee was ready. When I finally received my coffee I was so excited, I ordered an iced vanilla latte. After the tip, I paid about $8.00. The first sip in I was already disappointed their coffee was very watered down and overly milky. Definitely not worth the $8.00. Today I learned I don't really like the flavor of banana leaf that gets absorbed into the tamal. Also, it was primarily made of rice. It had a piece of bell pepper, a little chicken and I think a plum. Aside from the banana leaf I liked the tamale. The latte was delicious. Nice coffee flavor and sweetened perfectly. Definite recommend and I will for sure be back.

There are bits of almonds and tiny chocolate chunks mixed into it so be prepared to get that in every sip. I kept thinking it was like drinking sand! I don't like that but maybe others do! Usually, I enjoy this place, but today's experience with their service was extremely disappointing. The cashiers forgot our order, and we ended up waiting for over 45 minutes to receive our 2 americanos. To make matters worse, they seemed to put the blame on us for not checking our order, which is clearly not the customer's responsibility. Additionally, they gave us our coffee to go without lids, which was quite inconvenient. It would be beneficial for the manager and cashiers to undergo retraining to improve their service. I visited Cafe Santo for the first time today and absolutely loved it! This cozy corner spot has a wonderful vibe, with nice music playing while you wait for your order. The girl taking orders was incredibly sweet (wish I caught her name to add it here). The food was great - I tried the avocado toast (amazing sauce) and the Oaxacan mocha. Highly recommend!
