The staff continues to impress--attentive, warm, and they actually remembered us, which made the experience feel even more special. We even saw the young gentleman from Croatia again who had taken care of us on a previous visit--he was just as pleasant and even stopped by our table to say hello, which was such a nice touch. We dined later in the evening this time, and it was really special to see the staff, managers, and I believe even the owner all still there together. It felt less like coworkers and more like a family--which says a lot about a place. Food-wise, everything held up to our first visit (which is rare!). I couldn't resist and ordered the beef bourguignon again--still absolutely incredible. We also had escargot (note: it comes with béchamel unless you ask otherwise), and that amazing cassoulet loaded with different meats from the evening--it was spectacular. Safe to say this place is officially our favorite on the island... and yes, I'm still tempted to keep it a secret .

Lots on the menu, but the Oscar goes to Travel Tip: Order SOUPE A L'OIGabNON. Yes, Russell Crowe should have been nominated and won the Oscar this year - Perhaps, the younger generation is ill-informed on WWIi. Chez Georges requires a designer's update. Always, the service is best in Hilton Head. Always, the kitchen is among best in Hilton Head.

Thanks to Trent's recommendations we tried 2 of the specials; one of which was the veal chop and the potato crusted halibut. BOTH were exquisite and cooked perfectly. We also tried the German platter, and as someone with German family roots who has traveled to Germany throughout my life, I can confidently say everything was authentic and incredibly flavorful. I could not recommend this spot enough if you are in the area, this place is 15/10! (The keylime cheesecake... just trust me on this item, you will not be disappointed!)

Alfred's Roasted…read moreMaple Leaf Duck Natural jus, spätzle, red cabbage We have been fans of Alfred's since 2008, and Alfred's is distinct German dining, which delights us. My Grandmother was 50% German, and her father and mother were German immigrants prior to WWI. Thus my father assumed the family was German; however, the family which immigrated in 1640 to Virginia was English. Thus we have both German and English heritage. Tonight, it shall be Roast Duck, spatzle, and red cabbage. One of the grand things about an autumn visit to Hilton Head is very little need for dinner reservations almost anywhere.... However, it is Saturday evening, and Alfred's is a tiny property, and we do recommend dinner reservations. Alfred's is Not a hidden gem; however, it is to the rear of Sea Grass Grill and near Santa Fe restaurant. Given this restaurant trio, only Alfred's was full at 5:30 PM. Perhaps 80% of diners were locals. Alfred's merits a five star, Chef Alfred and Mauricio are busy preparing delight dinners for guests. Ambience is rather indifferent, and we have a habit of patio dining - there are decent outdoor views and patio heaters. Trent is our highly skilled server, and he provided us with special attention. Roast Duck; It is not chicken, goose, or turkey; it is roast duck, and we highly recommend this classic German dish. We pair it with a California Pinot Noir, and enjoy a delightful dinner. Highly recommend Roast Duck and nearly all of menu.

It was quiet, relaxed, and felt special without trying too hard. The food was absolutely the star of the night. We ordered the rack of Colorado lamb and the Coquilles Saint-Jacques -- both were outstanding. Perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and easily in my top five meals I've had on the island. Fair warning: don't be in a hurry for ANYTHING. Inside, a pianist was playing and the dining room looked lively and elegant, which already has me planning a return visit -- next time we may leave the dog at home and enjoy the atmosphere indoors (though my photo-bombing pup clearly wanted to be part of the celebration). A memorable birthday dinner with excellent food, lovely ambiance, and an experience that felt effortlessly special. Bistro 17 is definitely worth a visit.

Rack of Lamb Bistro…read more17 remains a favorite primarily because of excellent harbor and marina views. Service is indifferent - how does a HHI business maintain cooks and servers? Rack of Lamb continues to be a favorite, and few HHI restaurants have this on the menu. French Onion soup rates a 5 of 10. This soup cannot hold a candle to Chez Georges. Give it a pass and goto Chez Georges.

Their steak prices have gone up a bit, but the quality matches the price. I started with the French onion soup, a must. It's a hearty portion it a nice size crock. For the entree I had the steak frites + truffle fries. The filet was one of the best I've had in a while. It was a nice, thick cut. Prepared perfectly with a nice sear on the outside. The fresh cut fries were delish. Restaurants come and go in Savannah, but Circa 1875 is a staple!

I definitely do not regret our decision as we had a great meal. The interior ambiance of the restaurant truly transports to another place, it is truly beautiful. Our server was so gentle and gave us many recommendations on things to try and even accommodated some of requests. We started with the Espresso Martini and non-alcoholic French 75 (my first time) and these were both great. For appetizers, we had the crab croquettes (cakes), escargots and caesar salad. Everything was delicious (including the complimentary bread) , and to our surprise the Caesar salad had a nice crunch with the addition of fried frog leg pieces (if I'm not mistaken). The main entrees were the stars of the night, while we were originally inclined to try their Steak & Frites, our server recommended the steak tips sautéed over mushroom sauce with pasta and this was the perfect match instead of the classical French fries pairing. We also had the Supreme Roasted Chicken with caramelized veggies and everything was cooked to perfection. We did not leave without dessert and tried their Créme Brûlée, and while it was runnier than usual, the flavor was there. We thought it needed more time. Overall a great experience while in Savannah!

We dined at night, when the patio glowed with lights, heaters, and long tables that felt instantly charming and warm. Inside, I loved the window at the end of the house looking straight into the kitchen. It felt like a front row seat at *The Bear*. The handwritten menu was a beautiful, elevated touch. The food was excellent. The burrata was the best I've had in ages, perfectly balanced with fresh, elegant flavors. The peppers with anchovies delivered a bolder, more dissonant note, but it worked beautifully. The bread was wonderful, the pork schnitzel hearty and satisfying, and my favorite dish was the snapper. Perfectly prepared, it came with a creamy but light sauce over a bed of onions. My only critique was the non alcoholic wine. The options tasted more like juice, and alcohol free wine can absolutely be refined and complex. These were not. Service? Yes. Yes. Yes. Warm, attentive, and genuinely gracious. I felt like a special visitor. Thank you.
