The bar view of the chefs

We insist on going here every visit to Hilton Head. The food is delicious and classic; we had a very tender veal and bratwurst! Service was good and reservations are a must, even at 5:45, due to intimate size( eating at the bar gives you a ring size seat to the chefs!!) Only thing off was the vegetables last night being undercooked and watery. It's usually A level!!

Great food and friendly service. We sat outdoors and it had a nice atmosphere. Will definitely come back.

I love Alfred's so much that I go every year. This year they had a Pierogi Party on the night I was there and were serving incredible short rib ones. I also really love the blueberry lemon cheesecake. And of course the German food was great.

The German chocolate cake. Sooo good.

We were visiting friends in Bluffton, SC this week and only about 20 miles from Hilton Head Island. So many great restaurants there but we saved Saturday night for the best....Alfred's. And they did not disappoint. We started the evening off with whiskey sours and requested one of our favorite bottles of red wine....Daou Cabernet, with dinner. The drinks cleansed the palate and let us relax for a few minutes and enjoy the ambiance. This is a relatively small restaurant but there is indoor and outdoor dining. We ate inside this time but if the weather is good, an outside table is just fine! The bottle of Daou Cab was brought to our table and as always, it was full-bodied, smooth, and delicious. We ordered escargot for an appetizer. They were absolutely wonderful . The snails were well-cooked and the sauce demanded bread for sopping it up. Alfred's daily specials are hard to pass up for the entree. Last night, they had halibut, pork chop, and veal chop. We opted for the pork chop and the veal chop. The pork chop was an inch think, perfectly cooked and seasoned, served with spatzle and red cabbage. The veal chop was served with a mushroom and cream sauce along with spatzle and spinach. Wasn't sure we had room for dessert but we had to inquire what was available? The German chocolate cake seemed like a good choice and it was good!

Great dinner with wonderful service. We sat at the Chef's bar and watched some fantastic cooking. The wienerschnitzel was pounded perfectly and was tender and perfectly seasoned. The potato pancakes were crisp and delicious and service was friendly and spot on. Wonderful night out. Well earned 5 stars.

What a hidden gem in Hilton Head! Literally - Alfred's is tucked behind Sea Grass Grille, so it's hard to miss if you're not looking for it - but I definitely urge you to find it! All of the Yelp/Reddit/Facebook reviews we read which rave about Alfred's did not disappoint! We dined here on a Monday night, so took advantage of the made-to-order Pierogis. We liked the potato/onion pierogis over the cheese/potato one, but both were served hot and fresh of the skillet! For entrees, we had the Sauerbraten (short rib and cabbage), Pan Seared Rainbow Trout, and the Potato Crusted Halibut with Crab meat. Portion were generous so we took home leftovers which were finished the next day! I do have to say that the lemon beurre blanc sauce over the mashed potatoes was amazing! Overall 4.5 stars; not quite a 5 because our appetizer order was messed up twice, and the open kitchen made the dining room a bit smokey on the evening we were there.

The staff continues to impress--attentive, warm, and they actually remembered us, which made the experience feel even more special. We even saw the young gentleman from Croatia again who had taken care of us on a previous visit--he was just as pleasant and even stopped by our table to say hello, which was such a nice touch. We dined later in the evening this time, and it was really special to see the staff, managers, and I believe even the owner all still there together. It felt less like coworkers and more like a family--which says a lot about a place. Food-wise, everything held up to our first visit (which is rare!). I couldn't resist and ordered the beef bourguignon again--still absolutely incredible. We also had escargot (note: it comes with béchamel unless you ask otherwise), and that amazing cassoulet loaded with different meats from the evening--it was spectacular. Safe to say this place is officially our favorite on the island... and yes, I'm still tempted to keep it a secret .

Fair warning: don't be in a hurry for ANYTHING. I definitely do not regret our decision as we had a great meal. The interior ambiance of the restaurant truly transports to another place, it is truly beautiful. Our server was so gentle and gave us many recommendations on things to try and even accommodated some of requests. We started with the Espresso Martini and non-alcoholic French 75 (my first time) and these were both great. For appetizers, we had the crab croquettes (cakes), escargots and caesar salad. Everything was delicious (including the complimentary bread) , and to our surprise the Caesar salad had a nice crunch with the addition of fried frog leg pieces (if I'm not mistaken). The main entrees were the stars of the night, while we were originally inclined to try their Steak & Frites, our server recommended the steak tips sautéed over mushroom sauce with pasta and this was the perfect match instead of the classical French fries pairing. We also had the Supreme Roasted Chicken with caramelized veggies and everything was cooked to perfection. We did not leave without dessert and tried their Créme Brûlée, and while it was runnier than usual, the flavor was there. We thought it needed more time. Overall a great experience while in Savannah!

We dined at night, when the patio glowed with lights, heaters, and long tables that felt instantly charming and warm. Inside, I loved the window at the end of the house looking straight into the kitchen. It felt like a front row seat at *The Bear*. The handwritten menu was a beautiful, elevated touch. The food was excellent. The burrata was the best I've had in ages, perfectly balanced with fresh, elegant flavors. The peppers with anchovies delivered a bolder, more dissonant note, but it worked beautifully. The bread was wonderful, the pork schnitzel hearty and satisfying, and my favorite dish was the snapper. Perfectly prepared, it came with a creamy but light sauce over a bed of onions. My only critique was the non alcoholic wine. The options tasted more like juice, and alcohol free wine can absolutely be refined and complex. These were not. Service? Yes. Yes. Yes. Warm, attentive, and genuinely gracious. I felt like a special visitor. Thank you.

Sometimes you go to a restaurant for a meal, and sometimes you go for an experience. The meal we…read morehad at Chez Nous went beyond a simple dinner. It was an experience from start to finish. We made reservations for the courtyard and I am so glad we did since it was perfect October weather. Tony and Hilton took care of us and did an exceptional job. They were attentive without being overbearing. The menu was difficult to read but it wasn't really needed as Hilton explained every single dish and was super knowledgeable on everything. We started with the veal sweetbreads with turnips and the salted cod stuffed peppers with Yukon gold potato puree. Both were exceptional and unlike anything I have ever tasted. They served fresh bread at the beginning and I loved dipping it in the sauce that came with the stuffed peppers. For entrees, my mom and I got the swordfish with vanilla saffron sauce. I was curious about this because I had never heard of vanilla being incorporated in a dish with protein. However, they did a remarkable job of bringing the ingredients together. The vanilla was vague but just enough to be identified. The swordfish was cooked beautifully. I don't usually lean towards ordering fish at a restaurant but I would order this again and again. My dad ordered the pork chop with chanterelle mushrooms, spinach, and walnut vinaigrette. I was lucky enough to snag a bite. It was cooked to perfection with the sous vide technique. It was cooked so perfectly I fear any other pork chop I will ever eat will pale in comparison. For dessert we once again tried both offerings-the chocolate meringue and the lemon rosemary cake. The chocolate meringue had a chocolate sauce and chopped pistachios on top. As someone who doesn't usually like meringue, I loved this dessert. The lemon rosemary cake was perfect and had a creamy lemon curd on top. I couldn't decide which one I liked more. My mom got the wine pairing with her meal and said they did a great job identifying the wines that complimented the meal well. I do recommend bringing mosquito spray if you are sitting on the courtyard. We were eaten alive. The communal table in the courtyard in a unique concept because you can mingle with other people dining at the restaurant but since everyone is being seated at different times be prepared to hear the menu being thoroughly described about 7 different times. If that is something that would bother you I recommend getting an individual table. The courtyard was also cool because there was a window looking into the kitchen where you could see the chef work. Service was excellent and attentive. When we got our dessert my mom did have to wait a while to get her last glass of her wine pairing for quite a bit even after asking. For the price point, the wine should be served immediately with the dish. Total was $377. $408 total with tip. Overall great experience. Would definitely come back.
