My old company used to order desserts from here and I have very sweet memories of how yummy they were. Recently, we noticed that our favorite local restaurant served chocolate cake from Sweet Street. We decided to give it a try and fell in love with the cake. It's incredibly moist, not too sweet and the icing is delicious. It really is the perfect balance. We decided to order a chocolate cake from their bakery for Christmas. It was by far the biggest cake I've ever ordered with so many layers! It was delicious yet I could barely finish a whole slice it was that big. I can't wait to try some of their other cake flavors. Overall, I can't say enough good things about our experience here and their chocolate cake.

Ok, what am I missing here?! I get what this place is going for - it wants to be that trendy, neighborhood lunchtime spot with their handwritten chalkboard menu and hip employees who say cool things like, "Stay woke." But what's with the food? Everything is dry as balls. Are the meats cooked for 300 hours? Are they smoked, then grilled, then set out in direct sunlight over the weekend, and finally served up in their assortment of sandwiches and gyros? The meat is so dry it feels like crumbling sand in your mouth. Really lovely texture! On the plus side, it's a really great interior. There's plenty of space, and on warm, sunny days, plenty of outdoor seating is available. Sweet Street has always been known for their baked goods, including cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other confectioneries. Their foray into substantive lunch items is valiant but misses the mark.

Remnants of One farm fresh egg fried with a croissant made into a sandwich was all I needed. Coffee was delicious, sandwich was epic, clean cafe with friendly service. Love this place just not sure why I don't come more often.

Went with my husband for a bite to eat, but was disappointed. At first glance, the cafe is adorable and quaint, better suited to a person who is not in a wheelchair. The food was made in front of us, but I wasn't fond of the presentation. We paid 39.00 for jambalaya, egg salad on a croissant and 5 cheese Mac and cheese and cookies, plus we got two small hot teas-so the price wasn't terrible. What I thought was terrible was that we opted to sit outside on the patio and had to seat ourselves, clean off the table ourselves, etc. Someone should periodically be checking the tables and the chair arrangement when there are active customers about. There were flies attacking our food from all of the beautiful foliage growing to the side, and my husband is in a wheelchair, no one offered to bring our food out or help us bring it out ourselves! There was no tray or anything, the girls just left us on our own while we struggled with all our food and hot tea. The lady at the register was friendly. Also, the food was mildly cold, I had to ask for the Mac and cheese to be reheated and it didn't have much seasoning, I can deal with that but the service was sub-par and that was disappointing. The best part of the meal was the cookies, my husband enjoyed those a lot, and the egg salad was pretty good but I was fighting the flies for it. It would be nice if maybe their patio was screened in to eliminate the fly issue because food and flies don't mix. Perhaps they were busier than they usually are, but it didn't seem like it.

Visiting family from Tampa, Florida and decided to stop in here. Ordered a Cuban sandwich, "world famous fries" and an opera cake. Everything was phenomenal. Living in Tampa, we have the second best Cuban food in America (second to Miami of course) and Cuban Sandwiches are a big deal down there. Cafe Sweet Street's Cuban was damned good. As good if not better than most of the Cuban's I've had in Tampa. Amazingly good. The fries were delicious, and the Opera cake (which is almost impossible to find anywhere because it's such a pain in the ass to make but is my fav) was superb. Definitely coming back next time I visit and all of you locals who may not have tried this place yet are just nuts. No picture of Cuban sandwich due to eating it too quickly.

This spot is AMAZING! If you are in the area, definitely stop by! I thoroughly enjoyed the Blackbean veggie burger and fries. Everything was fresh and served hot. The wait was non-existent and the dessert was to die for! Everyone had masks and followed the social distancing guidelines. Definitely a 5 star experience!

This place was great!! It was located about 15 minutes (give or take) from Koziar's Christmas Village which is what we were in town for. It served its purpose for a quick, casual bite to eat before heading to our destination. They offer a lot of pay at the counter options including vegan and vegetarian ones alike! Build your own salad for just $6. Make your own veggies burger for $9 including fries and insanely drool-worthy desserts starting at just $2.50! I had a house made veggie burger the size of my youngest daughter's head! It was tough to finish because of its size, definitely not because of its taste! Yum! I added grilled delicious mushrooms. It was served with plenty of the usual accompaniments, and on on a toasty stamped bun. The kiddos had bowls of soup which was perfect on that chilly night....cream crab and corn basil and mushroom bisque. Both well liked and eaten rather quickly. For dessert we took home a fudge mini bundt cake and bought my parents a German Chocolate cake. The crew flipped over these decadent treats!! Definitely grab one at least to go! The place was really cute with chalkboard menus, exposed duct work, lofty vibes and fresh flowers on each table, although we were a tad confused as it's next to a factory. Employees were friendly enough and the food which I though was priced very appropriately was ready quickly! I would definitely come back when I'm in the area!

Stopped here after reading Sari Marissa G's review and she was absolutely correct this place is great! It is in a somewhat out of the way spot next to their bakery but if you are in the Reading area it is worth seeking them out. Everything we ordered was delicious. We were there with our grandkids and they gobbled down everything. The hot dogs were huge and juicy. The hamburger on stamped toasted bread was juicy and delicious. The beef was from my favorite local butcher Dundore and Heister. It is nice that they are using locally sourced food. The corned beef special sandwiches we're excellent. My falafel sandwich was tasty on a large pita with all the fixings. The fries were a hit with the kids. My daughter could not get some things she really wanted like the Almond Sourdough Pretzel Tenders and pizza because the equipment to make them was down, but she really enjoyed the cheesesteak. Even though she asked for it without mushrooms it came with. The mistake was quickly corrected. All the food was promptly prepared by the friendly staff. The desserts were amazing. Some nice ladies at the table next to us insisted that the grands try the chocolate cake and treated them to a huge slice. It was amazingly rich. We picked up two large boxes of goodies from their outlet section, one was mini carrot cake squares,very moist and a box of peanut butter and jelly blond squares which I loved. We will certainly will return to try some of the items we missed.

Went today for the first time. Ordered a made to order burger with fries, my bf had the gyro. It was the best burger I have had in a long time. Very juicy and tasty. I didn't even need ketchup. and the fries were awesome. Hand cut, perfectly cooked and seasoned. My bf loved the gyro also. The place is so cute and clean. I will definitely be back! Perfect for lunch! Yes, they serve lunch. There's a menu with fresh items that change depending on the day of the week. This place is easily one of my favorite places for a quick and mostly healthy lunch. They have some seating, and it seems to be a regular stop for people who work nearby. Yes, you will be tempted by lemonade cake...and virtually every other sweet they have displayed, while you eat your lunch. Overall, service is very fast, the menu items are creative and never boring, prices are great for what you're getting! Try the chicken tenders with almond breading, if you can. Yum. I'm too hungry to have just written this review. Now craving. read more

Sweet Street is an odd little restaurant. They are best known for their desserts, yet I am underwhelmed by their desserts. Way, way too sweet and way, way too many ingredients. They are made for a very young, unsophisticated palette. On the other hand, I visited today and had a wonderful Caprese Salad. The tomatoes were room temperature- perfect for actually tasting a tomato ( fridge cold tomatoes have no flavor) and they used ripe, heirloom tomatoes in various colors. Each tomato had its own subtle flavor. The mozzarella was real buffalo cheese and clearly hand made- not supermarket cheese. The balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing the salad was superb and of the highest quality. So- enjoy the food, avoid the desserts. read more

Amazing!! Coral Tree Cafe used to carry their cakes, but don't anymore. Fortunately, you can order it all yourself online and it is just as amazing. They ship it in dry ice. The Chocolate Luvin' Spoon Cake is the most amazing chocolate cake I've ever had (and I've had a lot!) The toffee bars are amazing. Yes, they are a little expensive, but worth every single penny! The lemon bars could be more lemony and the chocolate bars are almost too chocolatey. The mini cupcakes are OK, but not great. That's all I've tried so far, but I am very thankful that I don't live in PA because I'm pretty sure that I would weigh 300 pounds. read more

Sweet Street Cafe is by far the best place to eat in the Berks county area. The food across the board organic is of the highest quality. Presentation & service is alway top notch. The menu will blow you away. The Chef & GM Brenden is the real deal and a treasure to Berks county restaurant community. The menu has a core few items that are phenomenal. The burgers and fries will keep you coming back. Each salad is hand tossed to your liking with local products. Chef Brenden also introduces a weekly eclectic specials menu that is worthy of top billing. I have been coming here for 8 years and have had hundreds of great meals. The deserts and coffee will round out a great dining experience. The attention to details and overall visit will put a tremendous smile on your face. read more

I cannot believe I haven't gotten there for lunch before today! (I do live 40 mins away but still). My daughter and I met a friend and her daughter for lunch. We had read here a recommendation to get the almond crusted chicken fingers; so that's what my daughter ordered. I ordered the cranberry salad with goat cheese and a side of Grandma's chicken noodle soup. I am not exaggerating when I say they have the best chicken EVER! They said Organic and farm fresh when possible but seriously so well done on both chicken dishes. The salad was great too. We finished up with my old favorite; Snickers Blitz and my daughter had a nut torte. I was shocked at the great prices for what we got. The atmosphere is so lovely and they have outdoor dining as well. We can't wait to go back! read more

I go to college in the area and love to escape campus for a meal here every once in a while. I've never had a bad meal here. I usually get the chicken sandwich and it has a fresh and delicious flavor. Sweet Street also has a wonderful bakery, and everything that I've had is awesome, especially the red velvet mini bundt cake. For an occasional treat, this is the best place in Reading. read more

This is an amazing place to get lunch! Its Readings best kept secret!!! There is no where else in Reading to get this style and quality of food for such a great price!!! I always get the Gyro it comes with a small side salad. Dessert is always the BEST!!! I usually also take home a factory 2nd or two from the freezer for home!!! read more

All the reviews make me feel like I came here on an off-day. There weren't many selections of desserts, and there were only one or two left of each. Got the mango passion fruit cheesecake - it was a bit plastic-y and tasted just okay. Granted, we didn't try the food here - maybe the burgers/fries are what's redeeming. read more

This place is a diamond in the rough (quite literally). They have an expansive menu featuring everything from an awesome, freshly grilled burger and a hearty basket of fries to amazing stuffed pretzels. The dessert case is absolutely mouthwatering, with about 30 decadent desserts. I come here often and have never been the least bit disappointed. The amazing coffee is the perfect finishing touch. read more

Lovely atmosphere and great outdoor space - have never truly thought the food is worth the price though. It's ok. Just ok. Salads, sandwiches, ect. Gets super busy at lunch hours, then dies down. A bit pricey. The sweets are good. We used to go when they were just a tiny shop in the VF Outlet food court. My husband was disappointed they aren't the same as when he was young. No longer sell the mint brownies he loved. read more

Went to meet a friend at a midway trip on her way back to Washington. Got to tell you, I wish we had a place like Cafe Sweet Street near me in Philly. Really cool vibe with the lovely wildflower garden and deck and the clean food choices. I went for my make my own salad, which was huge for $6.00 bucks. Then I was tempted by the outlet prices and brought a few great cakes home for practically nothing. The burgers and fries looked amazing. read more

We've seen great reviews and were excited to be able to try the food at Cafe Sweet Street. Burgers were beyond amazing! if I were 35 years younger I'd say they were lit to the max. If you have a sweet tooth this is the place to go! Sometimes I just want a slice of pie and not the entire pie... and they have me covered. Cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, tarts, you name it, they have it. They also have an extensive lunch menu which is filled with fresh healthy selections. Lots of yummy sounding salads and sandwiches. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and their iced lattes are on point. They even have the cutest little outdoor section to sit and eat at. Highly recommend! read more

We stopped here for lunch while traveling through Pennsylvania. The soup, sandwiches, and salad were tasty and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed the lemon bars "to go." I appreciate Cafe Sweet Street's attention to Fair Trade (coffee and tea) as well as fresh, organic, and locally produced foods. It is worth getting off the highway for a meal at this place. read more

Went to Cafe Sweet Street for Brunch with my friend and had breakfast. The atmosphere was amazing. The industrial feel was just to die for. What a great find! We were visiting Reading, saw this on Yelp and gave it a try for lunch. Best meal of our trip. The food is fabulous and everything is freshly made. Even basic things like the turkey avocado sandwich and southwest chicken salad were delicious. Save room for dessert! Best apple pie ever and an Oreo dream brownie. Lovely cafe atmosphere with additional seating outside. read more

We go to Sweet Street for everything! I have enjoyed everything from their goat cheese and cranberry salad to the Turkey/Avocado sandwich, build your own burger, etc. We even bring lunches in for meetings...we usually pick up the lunch and stock up on their outlet sweets for our office freezer. They are super customer oriented so if you don't see something you want, always ask...sometimes they have them in the back. Debbie is the best! read more

Recently stopped here with some coworkers, very happy we did. Great place for lunch. They feature ingredients from local organic farms and have unique weekly specials (I had the crab popover-great flavor, fresh crab, good portion). Also got a chance to sample a nice helping of their homemade fries, literally some of the best fries I've ever had. The Chef at sweet street, Brendan Jones, really cares about the ingredients and each dish on the menu, as he took the time to chat with us when we had some questions. The cafe has a bright and open vibe, with many thoughtful artistic touches. As the name suggests, it's a dessert lover's dream too. read more

Bought one of their 5-high chocolate cakes for $18 at one of their truck sales off 222. Man-o-man, was it good. I can easily see how the menu price is $80. The cake would go for $8-9 a slice in a cafe , and their is 14 slices. Not to mention the cake weighs 8 pounds; the box felt like their were bricks in it. This chocolate cake is second to none. I wish I would have bought a cheesecake too. read more

I have to say this place isn't just for desserts. They have had a café for years now but recently expanded it until a beautiful outdoor patio with a woodfired pizza oven. The decor is modern and very exciting. Almost everything is homemade and many of the ingredients are locally sourced organic and free range. It is a great place! read more

I had the pleasure of getting to try their deliciousness at the National Restaurant Association convention in Chicago. They make some of the best cookies I've had. The employees that they sent to the convention were extremely friendly and were a great complement to the excellent cookies they were constantly letting us try. I wish they franchised so I could possibly get one of their locations closer to my home. However, until then, I will dream of these cookies and recommend that anyone in the area stop by to try their sweets. Maybe some day I will make the half day drive to stock up on everything they offer. read more

What a great hidden treasure. Seems as if they are not entirely interested in marketing - I stumbled upon this place after being told by a friend. The food is outstanding!!!! I feel badly for people who don't have a Sweet Streets Cafe near them. I try to go at least once a week, sometimes more. Everything on their menu is amazing and they have fantastic weekly specials. I could go on and on about the fries, wood fired pizza, cranberry goat cheese salad, meditteranean platter, and burgers (all of them--even the black been burger). To find a healthy alternative to the diners that use seed oils and commercial eggs, was what we were looking for and found! The staff were so friendly and helpful with a tasty offering in place of meat with our breakfast. The service was quick and the food was delicious- a shoutout to the chef who prepared it and also came out to speak with us. It may have cost a little more than diner prices, but for the meal we received and knowing that it costs more for quality ingredients, we felt it was worth it and hope to return soon!

Also had the ice cream cheesecake which was odd and wouldn't get again. Bill came out to about 120 for 2 glasses of wine, 2 seafood entrees, and a dessert. Overall, had a great dinner.

I didn't feel like having any meat, so I ordered two over easy eggs with rye toast, and added on their cheesy home fries. My husband ordered the big mess, which was a mixture of eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers, cheese, and he added in hot beef Italian sausage. It came with toast. That dish was huge! He really enjoyed it because he cleaned his plate. My dish also was wonderful. I loved the cheesy home fries paired up with the eggs to sop up the yolk. We did notice that they do a lot of food delivery business, with at least six people waiting to pick up food at any given time. By the time we left, the place was almost full. If we lived in Reading, we would frequent Marvel Ranch all the time. The food was great, the service was wonderful, the prices were reasonable, and the people were friendly. When we got home, we did watch the Gordon Ramsay Secret Service episode from earlier in the year and the staff really took what he had to say to heart and are still killing it!

However you can't necessarily eat out of them. The burger/sandwich needed to come out. Fries seasoned beautifully. My only tips would be that the chicken sandwich was a bit messy and should've been served on a plate. Secondly, on a hot sandwich, sautéed onions should also be hot not cold. Other than that...perfect! (I'm not gonna review the dessert I get 'cause Sweet Street doesn't make bad desserts) 4 Star. Recommend!!!! The hamburger on stamped toasted bread was juicy and delicious. The beef was from my favorite local butcher Dundore and Heister. It is nice that they are using locally sourced food. The corned beef special sandwiches we're excellent. Delicious! I can't believe this was only my first visit even though I live nearby. The burger was delicious! It was juicy, flavorful, and was cooked just right and topped with my choice of lettuce and pickles. There was an abundance of fries in the side sack and they were SO DARN GOOD! I highly recommend getting the fries regardless of what you order. I only had a cup of water with my meal, but was surprised at the selection of drinks that they did offer. I didn't have any desserts, but know that it is what they are known for - maybe on my next visit! read more
