The service was decent and fairly self service. You grab your own plate, enjoy your food, and then drop everything off near the trash area when you are finished. The location is also a big plus. It is right in the middle of some of San Francisco's busiest streets and neighborhoods, with many popular sites within walking distance. Overall, it is a nice spot to slow down, enjoy some coffee and dessert, and take a little break from the city.

Still i wanted to give it a chance so I took a sip. All I tasted was the oat milk, i couldnt taste any sweetness, matcha, nor ube. The mocha was a similar story, it was really watery and didn't taste remotely like mocha. Maybe I ordered the wrong drinks but it was a very unpleasant experience. Plus there were two beta fish in these small vases being used as decoration.. they looked pretty lifeless :/

Had a really bizarre and unnecessarily rude experience here today…read more When my coworker and I walked in, we were standing toward the front of the cafe and didn't realize we were in the wrong spot to order. Instead of just pointing us in the right direction, the person working gave us attitude about it. We apologized and explained that we thought we were supposed to stand where we were, and he responded with something along the lines of, "Well, the cashier is here, so you should be standing here." Just a weirdly hostile interaction over a very normal mistake. Then I ordered my coffee and asked for vanilla. He told me they didn't have any, so I said no problem and asked if they had another sweetener. His response was, "No, we don't. I don't do that here." I said, "Oh, okay, interesting," and he responded, "Yeah, that's why there are other coffee shops. You don't have to come here if you don't want to." I also asked for 2% milk, and again got a very curt "I don't do 2% milk," instead of just telling me what they did have. I happily switched to oat milk -- none of my requests were a big deal to me, and I wasn't upset that they didn't have what I originally asked for. It was entirely the attitude. Not sure why every interaction needed to come with so much sass, especially when we were being perfectly polite. Coffee was fine, but the service made the whole experience uncomfortable. Definitely won't be back, and if you're expecting friendly or welcoming service, I'd go somewhere else.

One of my favorite cafes in FiDi…read more I like the vibes here. Mostly ample seating, except when it gets super busy. I usually get their grab and go items and enjoy them inside. The salads are fresh. I've also had the pesto pasta salad a few times. Only thing is I believe the pesto is made with pistachio and arugula, but not any basil. I much prefer pesto made with basil. I mean, it's not really pesto if it's not made with basil. At least not in my book, and I think most Italians would agree. The Roasted Salmon Filet was a bit on the dry side, but they do use loch duart salmon My friends like their coffee, but I can't personally speak to that. It's definitely not inexpensive, but you're probably paying for the location, and I must admit I always just like hanging here. The main downside for me though is the VERY limited street parking in the area. No fault of the business, just fact.

I broke off a piece of the baguette when I got home, and this was by far one of the best baguettes I've found in the city so far. A cross between a traditional French baguette and sourdough, the texture was perfectly spongy and chewy with a slightly tangy flavor. I froze the rest of the baguette to enjoy throughout the week, and the texture miraculously held up.

I would give this place 5 stars for the deliciousness of their food but only 1 star for ease of use and success in getting food here. I have eaten lunch onsite once. I tried to buy a salad while out running errands one morning (at 10:30 am they told me I could come back at 11 because they were not done serving breakfast) consequently I bought lunch elsewhere. Today, I tried to call my order in but no one picks up the phone. Then I tried texting in my order as the webpage suggests. When I got no response I walked to the restaurant to see if my order had been received - it had not. Turns out there is no phone onsite at the restaurant. The phone number that is listed belongs to the manager and he was not working today. Normally, he forwards texted orders to the cashier but that was not the case today. The cashier agreed with me that it would be good to have a phone onsite. She told me I could download the "square" app and place my orders that way. REALLY? I have to download an app to help them receive my order? Believe me, I love the kale salad and am considering it, but really you should not make it so difficult for people to patronize your establishment. I am trying to be helpful here so please take this critique in the spirit in which it was written. I WANT YOU TO SUCCEED, but I can order from the Ramen Bar app in 5 seconds and it's ready when I get there. I should not have to try this hard to give you my money. There is always a line out the door at Heydey and you could be experiencing the same level of success during the lunch hour if you didn't make it so difficult to patronize you. read more
