I really enjoyed my visit to Delah Coffee in San Francisco. The coffee was good, but what stood out to me most was the ambiance. It has a very serene and relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful Pakistani and Middle Eastern inspired feel that makes it a nice little escape from the busyness of the city. I also enjoyed their desserts. They have a nice variety of cakes and other sweets, so there are plenty of options to choose from. Just expect them to be quite sweet. The service was decent and fairly self service. You grab your own plate, enjoy your food, and then drop everything off near the trash area when you are finished. The location is also a big plus. It is right in the middle of some of San Francisco's busiest streets and neighborhoods, with many popular sites within walking distance. Oh man! If you get the chance to stop into a Delah Coffee shop, I highly recommend it! Our group stopped in this morning while staying overnight in the Financial District. It's an Arabic coffee shop with great service and a quiet, relaxed vibe. The decor is incredibly cute and tasteful--honestly a great spot to work remotely. I ordered the pistachio latte and OMG. One of the best things I've ever had in my life. Seriously. They also have a variety of treats, from savory to sweet. Each baklava order comes with two pieces, so obviously I had to try a few. Last weekend we booked a room right across the street from this place and said we would give it a go. Day one was outstanding. We each had our coffee. I ordered a Spanish latte and my lover had the date cinnamon latte. Both were wonderful. He also had Turkish coffee because we were just starting our day. I'm not about that life lol so I was good with my latte. Day two we splurged a little more and had Bee bites, a potato turnover, and a beef turnover. Stopped for a chai latte around 8:30am on a Thursday. This place was busy with local business people and out-of-owners alike, as it is located in the financial district and next to a hotel. There are plenty of tables and chairs to sit, and space is ample with a good open atmosphere. The barista behind the register was polite and efficient. As for the chai...this is Yemeni chai, so it is stronger and more cardamom-forward than your typical American chai lattes. It's good...just different (it may be too strong for those that are used to the powdered or syrupy chai lattes from the chain coffee shops). I usually love cardamom, but this one seemed just a little too bitter for me - like it was brewed too long. I wish I had tried the dessert items because they looked delicious! read more

Oh man, this place is good. I was working at a project a block away and kept walking past this place. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but decided to take a look on Yelp and see what this place was about. The first thing that caught my attention was the rose milk cake because my girlfriend loves that kind of stuff and got me into it. The cake reminded me of a tres leches, but better. It wasn't sweet at all. I'm not much of an icing person, so I can comment on that although I can say that it wasn't as sweet as others I've had. I'm just not an icing fan, but others might enjoy it. I've gone back a few times after that. I've had their Sana'Ani coffee which is just black coffee with cardamom. I've also had their Jubani coffee which is a light roast & husks with cardamom, ginger and cinnamon. I love the ambience inside. Good enough for a coffee date, to do some work on a computer or just catch up with a good friend. It can get pretty busy, but the line moves fairly quickly. Can't wait to go back and try other yummy stuff like their famous Turkish coffee, an Iced Rose Delah Coffee , an Affogato or their Pink Socotra which is a refresher with rose, lavender and shaken with mint. I really would've loved to bring my gf here since she's a huge rose and lavender connoisseur, but since she broke up w me, I can't... I will update this review if it ever does happen and let you beautiful people know what she says, but until then go and check it out if you're ever in the area. I didn't learn this until just a few days ago, but they have more locations in the city as well as Oakland and Dublin. read more

I was able to get some work done here after leaving a meeting nearby. Bright, light-filled space, despite the downtown location. Friendly service. Interesting drinks. Not just run-of-the-mill. This is part of the Yemeni coffee craze taking over the Bay Area (and nationally). Yemeni lattes are spiced, often with cardamom, and are less heavy than Italian-style lattes. A great spot with very unique drinks and pastries. I worked a bit here last Wednesday and this was truly a perfect spot. The chai is very good and quite different than others in the city with a bit more of a spiced savory flavor. I paired that with their homemade baklava which was absolutely delicious. We ended up with the lemon turkish delight, which was pretty good. Nice chew and lemon-y flavor. It was a nice experience. Our coffees were smooth and flavorful. You're able to pull together a couple tables to make room for a group of 4-6. My friend got the dirty habibi drink and it was delicious. Note to self to get that next time. I got the rose milk cake and I loved it. Great rose favor and not too stone for my preference. My friends thought it was very rosey. Best way to start your morning without coffee jitters on an empty stomach. Service: 8/10 The cashier described a couple menu items to me, but service was nothing out of the ordinary. My drink came out in like 2 seconds though, I swear. Ambiance: 10/10 Lovely interior and super clean! Plenty of tables to sit at and work. There was some light music playing. It was air conditioned and well lit. There was a beautiful display of pastries and there are outlets available. I stumbled upon Delah as I was heading back to my hotel and something called out to me to enter and just like that, I listened to my instinct. This spacious and welcoming coffee shop was so cute. As I walked towards the register, I was greeted by the showcasing of sweets that made me forget that it was 7a. I love floral takes on all things and saw that they had a rose milk cake... I was VERY TEMPTED, but because I was heading to the airport in an hour, I didn't do. Much regrets, but I did get a rose Turkish delight which was so damn good. Floral, sweet, chewy, and simply a delight! Covered in rose petals, it was such a treat. And surprisingly not as sweet as other Turkish delights I've had over the years. I also ordered the Adeni chai with almond milk (hot) and BAYYYBEEEEE. It was hella rich and decadent, it woke up all my senses! Full of spices and felt like a warm hug on this windy day. I visited recently with a colleague for post lunch caffeine & we shared a large pot of Yemeni chai & a Turkish dessert that was like a mini Kenefe (shredded phyllo dough with honey & pistachios). Kenefe usually is topped with rose water & honey syrup so this was a bit different but still delicious. I agree with another Yelper who suggested to enjoy your beverage and food at their beautiful location (bright, airy & lots of seating) as the hot tea is presented in a glass teapot with a tea light to keep it warm and two petite tea cups for you to enjoy. I love chai & really enjoyed the flavors of cinnamon & cardamom in the tea as well as the strength (it was a much needed midday caffeine boost). It was delicious! Service is quick & helpful. This spot has become one of my go-to coffee breaks with coworkers and the fact that it's just a 5-minute walk from the office is a major plus. While their menu has a wide range of drinks, I always come back to the Yemeni latte (sweetened or unsweetened, depending on the mood) and it never disappoints! Large cafe space that never seems too crowded, so definitely encourages hanging out. The dessert options are quite wide ranging and very yummy. Rose Milk Cake: I am loving this hybrid! It's like a tres leches cake with Middle Eastern flavors. Plus vibrant pink color, for extra glamour. Very rich. They didn't skimp on the moisture, which is a true sign of good tres leches! Pistachio Cheesecake: Looks really cool with neon green tones and pistachios on top. Taste was kinda meh though. Very bland with not much pistachio flavor. I was hoping for that really sweet tangy pistachio flavor found in pistachio paste and pistachio ice cream. Cheese cake had an airy whipped textured rather than dense baked texture. Bee Bite: Love the contrast of warm cheesy bread covered in sweet honey. I suppose it's technically dessert, but it's special. Baklava Nest: Nice thin lines of crispy dough with pistachio in the center. Love the texture more than regular baklava, but I kinda missed the soggy bottom. Börek: Looks like kinda potato pie when cold, but transform into something crispy with running cheese when warmed up. And there's actually no potatoes, just flaky dough between the delicious cheese. Not many savory pastries here, but this one is awesome. Adeni Tea: Ordered a pot to share with a co-worker. It was full of fragrant spices, with cardamom being most noticeable. Nice and creamy too, with sugar on the side. A great way to enjoy tea and chat. Turkish Coffee: Be sure you specify the order is for here and you want the fancy metal serving set. Otherwise it's just strong coffee in a paper cup. But somehow it's magical when served in the proper setting. You savor it better in the small cups. And I dunno, that spice aroma is just great. Iced Rose Delah Latte: Looks really cool with layer colors of pink, white and brown. However, the espresso dominates the flavor profile so you barely taste the rose when it's mixed. We happened to find this cute coffee shop on Samsone and decided to check it out. The interior looks spotless and brand new, while the walls are adorned with beautiful artwork. As you walk up to the counter, you're greeted with the delicious smells of spices and sweets that they also display in front. The staff is so kind and lovely. We decided to order the Adeni Chai and it was amazing! Not too hot, it had this slight bitterness with a hint of earthy notes as well. I freaking love this place!!! There's often plenty of seating on weekend mornings, which is when I can usually carve out some time to sit & enjoy a book or get some miscellaneous work done. I really enjoy getting to pick from a wide variety of desserts every time I come here. The staff are very friendly and quick, and it's always clean here. The only thing is that in my experience, they often turn the music on & off - I'm not sure why that is!? Having been to the 4th street location a few times, finally got to try this one! I love that it's right in front of the bus stop, makes it so convenient to get to and from. There's plenty of tables with outlets and free, reliable wifi. It's also open pretty late. I ordered an iced rose latte which was delicious! Not overly sweet, I could taste the rose flavor and also the coffee and the foam top added to the creaminess! I will say, this was a bit on the pricier side for coffee. The interior is clean, spacious, and offers plenty of seating. I would encourage them to play music that's a bit truer to the culture though! Mixing in American pop music takes away from the authenticity a bit. Lastly, we ordered 2 drinks, the adeni chai and the Yemeni latte. The Yemeni latte was delicious and would get again! The adeni chai, however, was very difficult to palate. The spices were extremely potent and the combination was more akin to the smell of cigarette ash than an aromatic blend. At first I thought that perhaps my expectations were not in alignment with the nature of the beverage itself, so I googled it. The drink was described as "rich, sweet, smooth, and bold". This, however, was none of those. There was no sweetness, it did not feel smooth, and it felt like "rich" and "bold" were confused with "bitter" and "sharp". It took 4 Splenda and sugars and 2 half-and-halfs to mask the original flavor. Perhaps I was not prepared for what might simply be a cultural experience, but after seeing more reviews about the same beverage, I truly do think something might be missing here. My boyfriend and I cane to Delah Coffee for a little afternoon caffeine hit after an eventful date at Alcatraz. What I loved walking into the store was the cleanliness, open lighting, easy access to Wi-Fi, and pastry case filled with delicious Turkish treats! We got a plain black coffee with cardamom.
