Half of the rolls are well worth it, including willet and compass box this is not a luxury whisky. Food is also great and bartenders are consistently good. I just had a really nice dinner here. The chicken was pretty well cooked and tasted great. The milk and cookies were outstanding. The waitress was very polite and very attentive to my needs. So for me to give a 5 upfront means I was amazed. My wife and I stayed at the hotel and went down to the bar both nights we stayed. First night was slow, not many people, which I guess is normal for now. Our bartender Steve, was awesome. Great conversations, made my wife a custom drink, really took care of us. The ambience is so nice inside...next night we had dinner, my wife had the scallop pasta and I had the wagu burger...when I say cooked to PERFECTION!!! I love love well done, it's my preference and I stick to it, and did they not just cook it with no pink but gave me a little crust on the burger. Awesome!!! I traveled to San Francisco for a work conference for a few days and stayed at Hotel Zelos. The Dirty Habit is inside the hotel. The Dirty Habit has over 640 options for whiskey! We love whiskey so this was awesome. We were able to chat with the bartender about the options and curate a few unique drinks. It is designed with unique art work and stylish modern seating and decor. It is in the heart of the shopping, dining, and entertainment district. We opted to have breakfast each day before heading out to the conference. We also had dinner and drinks a few nights as well. Service was good and the food was fantastic! I am so happy we selected Hotel Zelos to stay and the convenience of having one of the best bars and restaurants so accessible during our stay was exactly what we needed. Highly recommend even if you live in the area as a place to grab a drink or dinner. read more

The food here was delicious. These days we don't typically eat somewhere with reviews below a 4.0, but the Google rating was 4.2. It was late and we are staying at the Hotel Zellos, so we rolled the dice. We got the pull apart bread for $15, though she didn't want spend that much on bread. It was piping hot and very good. A little sweet, and the creamy butter made it perfect. She got the chopped salad with the dressing on the side, and I got the burger and fries. Both were very good and, in my opinion, worth the elevated price. The portions were quite large. Our server was attentive and polite. There was very low lighting, so I'm sure that annoys people, as does the cost. For us, it hit the spot and it was steps away from our room for the night. We started with the fries, charred peppers, & chicken wings. The fries has to be fresh cut because they tasted like it..super good! The peppers was really really good! Wast spicy at all. They're so prominently displayed on street level that I kept missing the entrance to the hotel that Dirty Habit is located at! Find them on the 5th floor for breakfast (7 - 11 am), happy hour (4 - 6 pm), and dinner (6 - 10 pm). While they're closed between 11 am and 4 pm, they leave half of the seating open if you just want a place to sit and chill. Their continental breakfast ($20) is pretty delicious and enough to keep you satiated. It comes with toasted pastries (what a difference warmed pastries are compared to cold!), 5 types of fresh cut fruit, your choice of a glass of juice (I picked grapefruit), and refillable tea or coffee. I also ordered a side of chicken sausage (3 pieces - $8) and side of sourdough toast (4 halves of 2 slices of bread - $2). The sausages were juicy and hot while the toast was not too crisp and didn't need any jam or butter. I also had dinner here my first night and ordered the Mary's Chicken Confit ($30) and apple pie bread pudding ($12). The chicken was moist and tender with crisp skin. Along with the yams, broccolini, and lemon relish, it made for a full meal. The bread pudding was warm with just the right amount of sugary goodness from the cream, caramel, and apples. I was tempted to have a soda but since it would be in a can and non-refillable at $4, I opted no and it worked out since dessert took care of my sweet tooth. Service was excellent for both meals. They kept my drinks refilled and was just the right amount of attentiveness. Dirty Habit is a great part of Hotel Zelos. So convenient to have within the hotel and to be able to charge the meals to my room. Also a great spot to just sit when they're not open! read more

There is no one waiting to greet you at the entrance, we had to wait and peak around until someone came to help us. Waitress helped us and although she was very sweet she never came back to take our food order. We waited until someone walked past us and we had to ask to order our food. The guy who took our order acted like it was a drag to even service us. When our food came, we didn't even have any cutlery until we AGAIN asked. I wouldn't come back just because of how the service was. The ambiance though is very calm, it's a little bit too dark but nothing crazy they provide you with a table lamp. I ordered The hyppolyta cocktail which was a refreshing gin based cocktail with strawberry puree that had a perfect balance of flavors without being overly sweet. The first one i ordered had a cute design of Charmander on the egg white foam. The attention to detail was impressive! We ordered a few appetizers to share: the crab cakes (one order comes w 2 pieces and I wish we ordered more!!), Brussel sprouts (crispy and coated in a honey balsamic glaze, can ask for the blue cheese and bacon on the side!), and shishito peppers (fine but prob wouldn't order again when the other two apps were so good). I loved the rooftop garden at Dirty Habit! It's super cute and there's an abundance of heatlamps and firepits to keep you warm. Their drink selection is pretty vast and I loved their food menu as well. The milkbread, seared scallops with ikura, and Japanese gnocchi stood out to me as the best dishes. I couldn't get enough of the milkbread with kaya butter!! The scallops were seared perfectly and I loved the ikura on top to add some saltiness and brine. The Japanese gnocchi sauce was to die for. Overall, this place was good. I got the scallop pasta, and I will say that as someone who normally does not love scallops, the scallops themselves were cooked quite well. I think the pasta was nothing remarkable, but the sauce definitely brought the dish up a little. I do think it's a tad overpriced for the portion size, especially because the pasta itself was quite light. However, if that is your preference I'd say give this place a try! read more

The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented--honestly, The vibe was also spot-on, cozy and inviting with a nice balance of energy without feeling too noisy. However, the service completely ruined the experience. It took forever for anyone to greet us, and even longer to get our drinks and food. Felt like we were begging to be there Our server was clearly overwhelmed and seemed to forget about us multiple times throughout the meal. The worst part was when we asked for no tomatoes in one of the dishes due to dietary restrictions when the food was being served it was riddled with tomatoes the waiter proceeded to ask "oh were you allergic" I understand that places get busy, but the lack of attention and basic service when it was barely full was just unacceptable. I really hope they can get their act together with the service because with that kind of food and vibe, this place could be amazing. Until then, I'll probably be looking for somewhere else to dine. read more

The food was all pretty good. I loved the scallops, crab cakes, the brussel sprouts. I I the fresh flower cocktail was a little too sweet (and I like sweet drinks) and the bartender put sugar all over the glass so it was sticky to hold. Many of the people I was there with said their drinks were sticky to hold as well which made it annoying to drink. The Hyppolitta cocktail was perfect! Another place we used to frequent alot back in a time when we were always in SF. Just a short walk to 4th St down Market from the Embarcadero and up to the 5th floor. You are there. Its inside the Hotel Zelos.There is an awesome outdoor patio where we have sat many a time when the weather was right. Otherwise, it's inside at the bar or tables. Drinks here are excellent and the food is great. It gets busy with the after work crowd, or at least it once did, not sure what the work crowd is like in SF after Mayor Breed and our illustrious governator greasy newsome destroyed the SF restaurant scene. It's  nice to see they survived the carnage. We were there quite late on a Friday night well after the normal bar crowd was back home. The bar is usually great but last night there were 3 very drunk and obnoxious young girls sitting at the bar trying to flirt and getting busy with the 40+ married bartender. Part way through our 1st drink we moved to a table outside of the bar area. We could still hear them but not as bad. A big plus is the kitchen is open late. We were able to get an order of fries after 10 at night. I was tossing between 4 and 5 stars but thinking of truly awesome 5 star places we've been to I settled for 4 stars. The menu consisted of small tapas dishes made to share and an extensive non-alcoholic drinks. We order many dishes, and even had to get the milk bread with the green jam was delicious! Another notable option were the chicken wings, which were crispy and had great sauce. Also shared a few oysters, which I was not the biggest fan of, which had a sour vinaigrette. This was a pass. I miss working in SF because I'd often stop by on the way back to BART. Tucked away above Hotel Zelos near Trader Joe's, their outdoor rooftop is a private, clean, and classy space with fire pits and cozy couches. They have an exquisite selection of inspired small plates and craft cocktails, and are super accommodating to parties with multiple dietary restrictions (veg, celiac). Shishito peppers and the little gem salad were my go-tos, and their bartenders always know how to mix some magic (literally; Steven was our DM in an ill-fated D&D campaign). read more

Located on the 5th floor of the Zelos Hotel without much (any?) signage in the lobby. We asked a bellman where it was and he gave us a key to be able to use the elevator. Nice bar atmosphere, friendly service, lots of cocktail options and decent mix of shareable food. We went with the Japanese milk bread, wings and duck fried rice. Enjoyed all--but wow, that milk bread. Wings were strong too. Gave off the impression that they were going to be spicy, but they were just tasty. Had to try the Jelly Shots from the cocktail menu. Worth the $5 for the experience. Will definitely go back on future trips to SFO. read more

We came to Dirty Habit as part of our bachelorette outing. We made reservations for the patio. And loved the vibes of the outdoor patio. It's the perfect date spot with the flames glowing in the background and string lights on the bamboos. If you're looking for a date spot for drinks and light bites while you're in the downtown area, this is the perfect spot. But if you're looking for dinner, and to get full, it's super pricy. Each tapa style dish averages about $15 a plate. It's very good but on the pricy side. We ordered the crispy chicken wings with sweet soy and chili vinaigrette. I thought this was good. The Shishito peppers and the roasted Florentino were both delish. The duck confit tacos had great flavor but was a little dry. The lobster lumpia were delicious. The dance in boracay was the perfect drink. 4 stars for the food. Even if it was pricy. That said, I was upset with the service. The entire time we felt as if we were rushed. Servers were trying to take plates from us before we were done with our food. My friend overheard our main server telling a coworker that she couldn't wait for us to leave. We weren't even there for that long. When giving us our check, our receipt wasn't itemized. It was on a tablet with a total and then on the bottom we were asked what percentage we wanted to tip. The server stood there waiting for us to pay. Only afterwards, did we receive the itemized receipt. Only to realize that there was already A 20% tip added to our tab plus a 5% SF surcharge. And we tipped on top of that. I do understand that we should have known that there was already a tip placed on our tab. But it was nice for it to be clear on the tab before we paid. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal if the service was amazing to begin with. However, it was clear that the servers wanted us out even though we hadn't finished our food. And it wasn't even super busy at the restaurant. So it unfortunately left a more sour note to our experience. read more

For food: their burger is delicious -- a very pleasant surprise. The caviar baos are cute but ours were more bao and crème fraiche than anything else. For cocktails: the Lucky Black Rabbit and Gold Rush are great -- perfect choices for bourbon lovers (and even bourbon haters like me), and the Everything Nice is sweet, spicy, and almost too pretty to drink. read more

This place is a cool modern bar located in zelos hotel in soma. Its cool for drinks but there are definitely some drawbacks. Came here last Thursday for date night with my boyfriend. We ordered a few drinks - I got a spicy ish and sweet tequila drink which was good and had some cool designs drawn on the egg whites (done by a machine, not a human!). The drinks were good and well worth it. We also ordered food. Unfortunately they were out of the famed lamb belly bao, but we ordered the ribs, fries, and Japanese gnocchi. My boyfriend had warned that this wasn't a full dinner type place, but wow! The amount of food you get for the price of plates (close to $20 per plate besides the fries), is really bad! Really not great because the food was very good! Oh well. Besides that, the bar, despite being huge and away from the outdoor / rooftop, was very very cold. I and most of the other people had to keep their jackets on. Super weird. Would still come back, maybe when it's warmer and we can't check out the rooftop! read more

They were condescending and refuse me service and sent me fries instead of asking me as they did everyone else. It seems people think they have a right to mistreat Black people bc we exist. Yes, we do live in our America and they keep making us feel unwelcome. Even when we are paying the same or more than others, we are asked to accept less. Will never go there again for any reason. I was very excited to try to this restaurant as it was listed in one of "must try" lists that I follow to try out new places in the city. The entire experience was underwhelming from the start. We get there at our reservation time and there was nobody to greet us and the board said open seating. So, we ask the bartender and take a table on the patio. We waited for 45 mins for anyone to from service to come greet us although there was staff around. I finally went inside and asked to be served. We finally got our drinks after 1hr 15mins of being seated. The appetizer order took long as well so we ended up ordering all our food at once to get it sooner. I even contemplated leaving and eating elsewhere. Which is unfortunate given I reserved this weeks in advance to celebrate a special day. The food was acceptable (not great), the service was very poor(maybe they are understaffed but that should be looked into), the ambiance was also average. It was definitely not a pleasant dining experience and makes me doubt why this was listed on any "must try" list. We will not be going back or recommending this place read more

Came to this bar quite often a long time ago and it was the "it" spot to go. I arrived at about 8pm and it was quiet and not very full. It was a beautiful day so actually most people sat outside, I didn't realize there was an outside. I ordered the bees knees which came in these cute little bear ramikins. Pretty good cocktail and they donate proceeds to charity if you order the drink. Cool ambiance still and place to hangout with friends. Drinks are also good. We didn't order any food this time around. Service was also great. Super friendly wait staff and they filled our water frequently! I was in San Francisco for a work trip so my first night I decided to try this bar/restaurant in the hotel. It was a Monday night so it wasn't too packed so their service was really amazing and quick. I opted to sit at the bar since I was dining alone. The atmosphere was nice and chill but the restaurant is nice inside. I ordered the wings and a side of fries. The wings had the perfect amount of crisp and the flavor was so good! The dipping sauce for the fries was also really good. So if you find yourself in downtown SF definitely give this place a try. I'm incredibly bummed to leave this review but last night our experience was less than great. I came here a couple of weeks ago with a friend and we had an amazing time. Our food was timely and delicious so I couldn't wait to bring my partner here! We showed up around 6 pm on a Tuesday evening. They weren't very busy yet so the vibe was very chill. Our waitress was amazing. I'll start with that. The service we received was great. Our food and timeliness was the massive miss. We ordered the crispy pork belly, Japanese milk bread, Japanese potato gnocchi, duck fried rice, shishito peppers, and the crème brûlée. The crispy pork belly is served cold. It is a little bit of a shock when you cut into something crispy and it's cold. It would've been nice to know. I don't know if we would've ordered it otherwise. It was very odd. The Milk Bread was perfect. The jam is incredible. I thought it was butter the first time. The Gnocchi is what made me want to come back. However, this time it was a miss. It was overly salty (probably too much miso) and hardly any mushrooms. I was so bummed that it wasn't as amazing as the previous time. The duck fried rice saved the dinner. It was the best part. Very savory and really brought life back into our dinner. The shishito peppers were the downfall of the night. Not because they were bad but because it took over 15 minutes to get to us. We saw other tables getting theirs. Our waitress also seemed very confused. I had already been brought my crème brûlée, finished it, and the plate cleared. We arrived with plenty of time before our show and now we had been there over an hour and fifteen minutes. We arrived at 6pm and didn't leave till almost 7:30. This place is on the 5th floor of a hotel so when you go into the hotel tell the receptionist you are going to Dirty Habit and they will give you a keycard to go up. The atmosphere was great. Walk in through the hotel then a quick elevator ride up to the bar. Friends and I came here after dinner nearby. The eclectic original decor was great. We sat at the bar and had the most fun and entertaining conversation ever with Steve the bartender and Marissa. They made us amazing drinks! The Mexican firing squad was my choice and packed a punch! My husband got a mezcal and tequila drink that grew hair on his chest. Then we just were free styling drinks with Steve the amazing prolific bartender. This joint really left an impression on me. I didn't have any expectations...came in with a last minute reservation and an open mind. For starters, the decor is everything. The dim lighting, leather tufted sofas, artistic paintings, and rooftop was such a vibe. The service was excellent. Gloria made really great recommendations and she was so attentive! She made sure that we always had water & checked in to make sure everything was going well. Our food was delicious. I ordered the chicken wings, fries, pasta and the s'mores brownie. Everything tasted so fresh and packed with flavor! I also got a virgin cocktail and it was delicious!!!! I will definitely be back.
