I liked Cafe Veloce when it was dine in and now with only takeout being the only choice for now, the quality and flavors of the food under the microscope. The online ordering system worked flawlessly to to get the chicken parmesan, aglio penne, pesto pasta and Veloce special pizza. The preparation of the food was fantastic and done with to orders in mind. The portions are good sized and flavors were fresh and flavorful. I would definitely recommend getting food from Cafe Veloce rather it be takeout for now or dine in when available. A great neighborhood asset that we are lucky to have in our backyard. read more

I loved the cozy, warm atmospheric lighting coming from the fireplace, and the seasonal decorations. I also appreciated the wallpaper featuring vintage Italian bike brands in the bathroom stalls, and the actual bikes used in the decor. The restaurant felt very welcoming. We chose salcito pasta and muffuletta pizza after some deliberating. Pizza came out about 10 minutes after the pasta. I liked the salcito pasta. The tomato sauce had a citrus-y tang and went well with the al dente rotini pasta and sausage pieces. But, I thought the muffuletta pizza was overly salty. When I took off some of the salami, I could tell the crust was buttery, garlicky, and crunchy, and there was better balance to the whole thing. So I think it was just a problem of the cured meat being too strong for the quantity that was used. The dessert menu was very tempting, but we were already too full from the pizza and pasta, so tiramisu will have to wait for another time. read more

Checked this place out with a large group. It's nice because they have a back area that is semi private that can fit a group of about 30. Was impressed how quick the service was even with our large group. Only other comment is this back area is not very well lit, maybe it was for ambience but I wasn't a fan. The lunch deal they have is great! I believe it's offered from 11am-3pm. $10 gets you a bowl of pasta (lots of options to chose from, I got pesto), your choice of soup or salad, and they bring out a basket of bread and garlic butter (complimentary bread is a must at Italian places in my opinion). I really appreciated the fresh basil on top of my pasta! The portion size for lunch deal was perfect. I saw people around me get regular entrees and they were huge (lady next to me got shrimp and mushroom salad which looked really good and filling). After seeing so many good reviews. We have decided to try this place out. I would AVIOD GOING HERE AT ALL CAUSE not because the food is bad but the place is so dirty is actually disgusting. When we past the kitchen I had a glance inside I've never seen a kitchen that dirty before. There's dust, grease, and random brown stuff everywhere. While waiting for our food I saw them pull bread out of a dirty looking grey tub and served everyone with that bread. If is just that I wouldn't leave a bad review, but later that night I actually got food poisoning from this place. I still haven't recovered in the my stomach is normally really resilient, but this restaurant broke my limit. Update: I have to stay at the ER two night . We've eaten here for years, but the past 18 to 24 months have not been kind to this place. Food quality has gone down. The always favorite chicken scampi (yes, odd name, but great concept--cook a creamy version of a broken butter and garlic sauce dish with chicken instead of shrimp) is not what it used to be. The chicken is dry and tough. We've pointed this out on at least three visits and allowed them to try and fix it on two of those visits. It still comes out dry and tough. Seems they have either changed the chicken they use in the dish or changed the prep steps for the dish. Either way, it's a pale ghost of its former self. Other pasta dishes are hit and miss. Some are very tasty. Others we won't even order because they are clumsily executed and feel thrown together. And who ever heard of an Italian sit down restaurant using canned clams for alle vongole pasta dishes? Gross. Pizzas are okay, but I'd expect pizza on a higher level from this place. These are barely okay and certainly not enjoyable. Too tough crust, odd tomato sauce, and not much attention paid to detail in execution. Baked pasta dishes are usually good, but can be greasy. The bread on our last visit was dry and bordering on stale. There's a huge new commercial development going up all around the restaurant. And Cafe Veloce really needs a facelift, a deep cleaning, some rearranging, and a little modernization in its look, or it's going to have a tough time competing with the new kids on the block. Take, for example, the faded Italian flag that hangs in the entry. I've mentioned on several visits that it looks like an Irish flag now--the red block has faded so much over the YEARS that flag has hung there that it's now orange. Some fresh new touches and a bit of spiff and polish would go a long way to breathing new life and to extending the life of this Kirkland institution. We've started to visit far less frequently than we used to. At some point, we may give up and stop going here. read more

We came in on a Friday afternoon after work as walk-Ins and no reservation. We had a 5 minute wait for a table for 2. We ate at the outside patio and had a view of the parking lot and totem lake shopping center. My husband had the Arnold Palmer (off menu) and I had a hot jasmine green tea with my own pot. We had the bruschetta appetizer to start. We both missed on the menu that the bruschetta had cheese on it and when it was brought out, we were a bit surprised. It was our least favorite dish just because it looked more like a pizza to us instead of a bruschetta. I had the eggplant Parmesan under the baked dish section and my husband got the chicken Parmesan. I tried a bite of my husbands chicken and it was tender and crispy. Pasta felt slightly dry. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar, hardly any flavor. I had to ask for black pepper and pepper flakes for more flavor. I liked the eggplant Parmesan over the chicken parm. I felt like they threw in a lot of pasta at the chicken Parm. My husband preferred my dish over his! We may come back again in the future, but I've had better Italian food elsewhere. read more

I have read many reviews about Cafe Veloce, mostly all positive. So after passing by the restaurant, we decided to stop by for a late dinner. The restaurant has a lot of memorabilia so there's lots to look at and enjoy. The fireplace looked nice so if that's an option, try to get a seat there. We ordered the garlic bread with cheese as an appetizer and while the full order was quite large, it didn't have a ton of flavor. Thinly sliced bread with a lot of cheese but not so much garlic. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana and a side of spaghetti. I thought it was odd to not get noodles with the eggplant but I just bought the side and that solved that issue. Neither were exceptionally tasty. I got a lot of food but it just didn't taste overly fantastic. For desert, I had the tiramisu. I wasn't planning on ordering dessert but when I hear "tiramisu," I loose all control. I should have skipped it. The lady fingers were stale and dry. It was the most disappointing tiramisu I've had. Total bummer! My husband enjoyed what he had (baked lasagna) but also found the desert to be lackluster. He had the turtle cheesecake and said it had very little "turtle" (Carmel) and was very grainy. So...I guess I'm feeling ambivalent about this place. This is one if the few places I've seen give the option of ordering just a glass of Chianti (which was tasty!) over an entire bottle so I might return for the wine. I would definitely order something else though. Not awful just not amazing. Seeing all the yelp love, though, makes me think we experienced an off night. read more

If you've not tried Cafe Veloce you owe it to yourself to go! Their food is amazing. I have been to the restaurant a number of times and have never had a bad meal. Their Quatro Formagio pasta is ... heavenly. Last night I had them cater a company party. Not only did they show up on time, but they had all the food, utensils...the works. They set it up with efficiency and made sure we had everything we needed. I wasn't sure the food would travel well from their restaurant to where we were having our party. But it really did and was so amazingly delicious. There were several out of town guests at the party last night and all of them commented on just how good the food was. Terrible experience here. Total nightmare.. I came here with a girlfriend for lunch and we went shopping next-door for a few hours and they threatened to tow my car! I think the worst part is I asked the staff just to be sure I could park there and I still got the threatening letter to come back to on my windshield. Just out of respect, if you have a paying customer you should accommodate parking especially having asked for permission to stay a little longer to run an errands next door. Americanized Italian food in a suburban shopping plaza. It works. I would put it at 3.5 stars because the food is pretty good, but priced too high for what it is. So, there's something for everyone. Each time I go I try to get something new and have yet to be disappointed. One of my favorites is the lasagna, it's cheesy, rich, and flavorful. This is what I've been looking for for a while now. A casual Italian resteraunt with great heartwarming atmosphere and best of all great food. The entire staff was incredibly nice, the food came out fast and delicious, and to top it all off was very reasonably priced. The pizza is fantastic, as is any pasta you'll get. Most recently we've had the penne aglio (spelling) and moped pizza. If you're looking for good italian, come here. We had a 8 person group here for dinner mid week. We ordered 3 appetizers, meatballs were good, scallops were good, and calamari-not good. We then a few of us had salads- they were just salads-fine. Then we had our mains. Overall the food was very homey. Simple food, mostly good flavors. Creamy pesto gnocchi was good, the sauce was separated upon arrival but had good flavor. Creamy red sauce was good. Chicken Parm was enjoyed. One person got a salad as a main and did not eat it, I guess it was not good. Overall the food was good, and this was a homey restaurant. I had expectations that it would have nicer decor, prettier presentation, and really more gourmet. That's not the case. I can imagine this place gets busy on the weekends. read more
