The balsamic dressing, pine nuts, and fresh greens were already delicious, and the burrata tied it all together with that perfect creamy finish. I could honestly eat this every day Eggplant Parmigiana -- Flavorful, satisfying, and refreshingly reasonable in portion size. Unlike some places that serve a mountain of bland eggplant, this one delivered on taste without overwhelming you. Carbonara -- Creamy, cheesy, and simply delicious. Pesto Pasta with Burrata -- Another favorite. The pesto had great flavor without that overly strong basil punch some places have. Adding burrata made it even better. Cheese Ravioli with Sage Butter -- Soft ravioli with a nicely filled center, paired with a sage butter sauce that was subtle rather than overpowering. Too much sage can ruin a dish for me, so this balance was perfect. A quick heads-up: this isn't a full-service restaurant. You order at the kiosk/front counter, grab your own utensils, napkins, and water, pick up your food when it's ready, and bus your own table afterward. My friend and I were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and offered menus to take a look (it was our first time). Ordering was very easy via the kiosk but the staff also offered to take our order if we needed help, which we appreciated! Interior was very clean, bright natural lighting, and not too noisy. I ordered the Short Rib Ragu with Creste Di Gallo pasta and added a focaccia. Shared a side salad with my friend! The salad is delicious and so refreshing! We both loved our pasta dishes so much. We thought that the Short Rib Ragu was a little more on the savory side whereas her Bolognese Ragu was more light but still savory. Had delivery of Due' Cucina and I just ate the best piece of eggplant I've ever tasted. The Mediterranea Salad is a vibrant, delicious concoction of marinated eggplant, capers, olives, lettuce and radish. It's a marvelous explosion of Mediterranean flavors for your mouth. I also got the Mortadella Sandwich which was decent. I probably wouldn't get it again. Also because I'm anxious to try their other sandwiches, Porchetta and Carbonara. Due' Cucina is surprising me in a good way because we haven't had good Italian around here in a while. Tavolata is ok and Tropea is a staple but nothing to write home about IMHO. For many reasons...it's more inviting, spacious, more windows for natural sunlight, you got different seating (high table, booth, outdoor) and they even have some cute merch displayed! With so many options and ways to customize, we were all able to find something we wanted. I was also impressed by the prices, I felt that for the quality or the food, the prices were very reasonable. If it's packed, i'd recommend parking at Redmond Town Center in the parking garage for free with no time limit, it will just be a short 10 minute walk to the restaurant! I've never been to a "fast" italian restaurant before where there is no server or where it's a sit down restaurant. I was shocked to be ordering from a legit tablet. It was easy, it was new, and it was innovated. Prices were moderately cheap for pasta, $13? I'm shocked it isn't $30! My friends and I got the Bolognese & the Kale Pesto. As well as the Focaccia Bread. We self seated ourselves, each table had a flower, and it was fairly clean. Food was ready within 10 minutes, great portions, and it was pretty delicious. I really loved the pasta shape and how it was a bit chewy. It was delicious and full of flavor, the focaccia bread was also amazing, a bit salty but had great flavor. It wasn't hot or warm however. This place is also where you clean up after yourself, so on the side of the place, is stacks full of dishes and cups - a bit disgusting as it was piled up as if the workers didn't clean it throughout the day, more like at the end of the day. We ordered delivery and got the gluten free pasta 2 ways, pesto and pomodoro to try and the regular homemade pasta carbonara. I am suprised at the freshness of the sauces and the leftovers held up well the next day when microwaved and not mushy. We got free delivery for our first order and our food arrived quickly. We waited maybe 30 minutes after ordering on a Friday night which was super fast. Considered a casual and quick service Italian restaurant, customers simply choose their pasta, sauce and any add-ons to customize their own creation. However, you can also select from their menu specials which include lasagna and eggplant parmesan, both of which I always find tempting. This time, I knew I wanted their SHORT RIB RAGU ($14.70) and per an employee's recommendation, I selected the Paccheri pasta. He suggested that its large tube shape would jive best with the sauce, so that made for an easy decision. That day, about half of the customers opted for takeout versus dining in based on the screens above the open kitchen that display the status of each order. Our three pastas were all ready and packed up after about 10 minutes. When I opened my container, it didn't look like there was much meat at all, but I found more hidden under the pasta at the bottom of the box. It was not a large portion of meat, but at least more than what I saw at first glance. The short rib was super tender and succulent, however, the tomato sauce was not as flavorful as I expected. No doubt it was fresh, but it seemed to be missing herbs and some salt. On top of that, there wasn't much sauce either, so my pasta was on the drier side and the large tubes didn't have much to hold within them. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente though, so that was a plus. Service-wise, the employee whom we interacted with was very personable and seemed genuinely happy to answer customers' questions. With this being a fairly recent opening, perhaps they are still trying to work out some kinks. Based on the dish I had that day, I would not consider it worth the value, however I'd be open to giving it another shot in the future. 3.75 stars. read more

I am a fan of this place. I think, "where can you get fresh pasta made in house for under $20?" That's truly what makes Due' Cucina special. Since they've opened, it looks like they've trained their people to be more attentive than when they first began. I'm a bit fan of the Short Ribs Ragu with the pasta that looks like macaroni with fins on it (the name eludes me at the moment). If you don't like real pasta, and prefer the Americanized version, you may be turned off by the heartiness but if you're a fan of the real thing, you get it here. The sauces are all good. My friend got the Basil Pesto and gave me a taste. I'm on the fence with pesto but this pesto was the best I've had--maybe I've only had overly powerful pesto? Next time I go, I'm going to try the sandwiches. They look pretty great on the website. The concept is pretty great--real quality Italian with a walk-up or kiosk/online ordering method that reduces overhead so they can sell quality for less. That said, the interior could use a little warmth, and the music is often too loud (I've been to 3 of their locations), but Redmond's music was a decent volume. My only other feedback is people are slobs and even through they take their plates to the bins, they often don't clean up after themselves. I think the staff here could improve table cleaning. Also, larger water glasses would be nice but now I'm nitpicking. Overall, I highly recommend Due Cucina. Sure it's not cheap nor is it fast food but it's the best quality relatively fast service restaurant you'll find anywhere at a great value! read more

We went here, having been to the Kirkland location a few times. This location does not cut it. Service is not exactly attentive, and that's basically...well, wait. There is no service. You order at a kiosk, go to the kitchen outpost to pick up your food, get your own utensils and other table needs, and bus your own table. When we needed anything, the employees' reaction was either perfunctory minimal effort or indifference and an annoyed attitude with a slow and delayed effort. So, same as basically no service. The food was not nearly as good as the Kirkland location. It lacked flavor and was extra greasy, which is not what we expected after our Kirland experiences. Certainly not at a quality that's worth the prices charged. Parking is a joke. The signs for the building's garage clearly state that you get two free hours with "immediate retail validation." Umm, not much in the building besides this restaurant. But the restaurant chef told us, "No. We don't do that. They charge us for that stuff, so we don't." Okay. That will add almost $9 to your total for eating here. So, for all these reasons, and because they do not add up to good quality and value for the money, we will not be going back to this location. read more

At the risk of sounding like Gordan Ramsay, I've eaten in restaurants all over the world -- some brilliant, some dreadful, some so confused they should come with a warning label. But Due' Cucina? This place surprised me in the best possible way. First of all, you walk in and there's no waitstaff. None. Zero. Zip. You order from a kiosk like you're checking in for a flight. You pick up your food, and then when you are finished eating, you bus your own table. At first I thought, "What is this, an airport lounge with pasta?" But then the food came out and I nearly fell over. The lasagna -- Proof that there is a God and that He loves us. One of the best I've ever had. Truly Layers cooked properly. Sauce seasoned like someone like Gordon actually tasted it before serving. Cheese melted, not murdered. It's the kind of lasagna that makes you want to call your mother and apologize for every frozen one you ever ate growing up. And the prices? Shockingly reasonable. Even the Italian beer was half the price of the Seattle craft stuff. HALF. And that at a time wihen tariffs are doing Olympic-level gymnastics, . That's not pricing--that's a plot twist."Economists everywhere are still trying to solve this. ( My theory is that the customs agent just shrugged and said, 'Eh, let them have it.'" . That, or Seattle beer pricing is truly undefeated. After all, I've seen Fremont beers that cost more than my first apartment.) The atmosphere is cozy, no-frills, and without pretentious nonsense. No reclaimed-wood chandeliers or decorations involving giant empty wine bottles. No waiter trying to upsell you organic virgin olive oil or judging your sauce choices. Just good food, fast service, and a room that says, "Sit down, eat, and don't be dramatic." Service is quick -- almost suspiciously quick. So glad there's a Due Cucina closer to where I live, especially since I frequent Redmond nearly everyday. I was happy to learn of the newest location as Due Cucina always has solid pasta that's affordable, casual and has plenty to choose from. I visited Due Cucina soon after it opened on a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. Fortunately, I was able to find street parking as there are some near where this is as it's located in one of the newer apartment buildings in downtown Redmond. Nearly all of the tables were taken for lunch. I got a gift card for my friend's birthday and ordered takeout for my partner and I. I love that at Due, there's a high-protein pasta that you can substitute for any of the pasta dishes, which is what I did for our takeout plates. We ordered the carbonara, the short rib ragu, eggplant salad and chicken meatballs. Everything was solid. I enjoyed the eggplant salad for some lightness, especially with the heavier pasta dishes. Chicken meatballs were also on the lighter side, which was good, as I hate meatballs with a lot of breading mixed in. I would love to come back to Due and dine in, which is always a better experience than ordering takeout. The spot is casual, welcoming, and the staff was friendly. I've visited their other locations and was excited to see they've opened one in Redmond. The Italian food is truly authentic, and the prices are very reasonable. It's a self-service spot with quick service, where you can pick your sauce, pasta shape, and any extras. We tried the aglio olio, cacio e pepe, and pomodoro pastas, along with some focaccia bread. The Sicilian Caponata was the best I've ever had. For drinks, we had Barbera wine and an Aperol Spritz, and ended with Tiramisu. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Not that the Totem Lake location isn't good, but the Redmond crew had energy and vibes that really made it feel special and almost like a "we're all family here" experience. Thrilled Due Cucina is now in Redmond! I love that it's a semi-casual place where you can get fresh pasta and mix up your sauce and pasta type. You order by kiosk and then self-serve water and utensils. Their carbonara is my favorite, but this time I got the amatriciana which was also delicious. We also ordered the suppli (Roman version of arancini) which as cheesy and saucy as we wanted. My only complaint about Due Cucina is that their pasta is not cooked al dente. Both the Totem Lake and Redmond locations cooked the pasta to be quite soft. Okay all, I REALLY wanted to like this, just for convenience sake. Ordered six entrees for delayed (timed) pickup an hour later. Picked it up within 1 minute and still waited for the bag, and we are only 3 minutes getting home. All I ce cold, so suspect they were fired early so we had to microwave them all. [womp- womp.] Ya'll know how well microwaved carbonara turns out. Two of us each got carbonara, and 2 got bolognese - the customizations were labeled wrong on all of them so we had to go through and swap after everyone started. Someone else got my Italian sausage add-on. Only entree that was good (but still needed reheating) was the lasagna. Pretty good béchamel! Happy to give some grace with a 3-star instead of 2 because I know it's a new opening. Probably wouldn't go again given the number of errors. Fam gave it a unanimous 'Meh'. read more

Fast casual Italian finally made its way to Redmond, now saving us a visit to Kirkland. When you're tired of low quality pasta, this place does it fresh and perfectly al dente. You can't go wrong with the Short Ribs Ragu or Eggplant Parm. Don't underestimate the Pomodoro sauce too, which my toddler loved. I'm a bit disappointed in the Cacio and Pepe (too one dimensional), Croquettes (tasted too much like their previously offered Arancini), and saw their Carbonara disappear off the menu (soaring egg prices??) at my visit, but maybe one day it'll appear again. Employees were courteous, but it's pretty much self service ordering via a tablet and collecting your food once ready, and ultimately bussing your own table. Choose your own pasta?! Of course! We stopped into Due Cucina for a quick lunch and were surprised by the options. First you choose the type of pasta (I picked bucatini - a hollow spaghetti straw) with bolognese sauce (bright tomatoes and basil and garlic) topped with Parmesan. And I got a Suppli Al Telefono (fried rice and cheese stick). Superb! Filling, tasty and exactly what we needed for the day. The folks behind the counter were friendly and the atmosphere was campy Italian. And it never hurts to stare at a photo of Sophia Loren while eating pasta. We really wanted to like this place as they make their own pasta but off the get go I had bad vibes as this place positions themselves as a "self serve" fast casual place, with signs everywhere to remind you to self order and bus your own table. Very uninviting even for a fast casual restaurant. Yet, they still have the nerve to ask for a tip with the defaults being, as I recall, 15, 20, 25%. I had to go to custom to set it to 0. I'm more than happy to tip but not if I'm ordering and busing my own food. This is the experience even before your food arrives but hey, the food should be good, right? it's home made pasta. Unfortunately both our dishes were dry and just felt completely under sauced and under flavored. We ordered the bolognese ragu and the carbonara with extra cheese (they charge you extra for extra cheese) and the dishes looked nothing like the beautiful pictures on the kiosk. The bolognese was way under sauced and the carbonara lacked cheese, yes, I know authentic carbonara is different than American creamed based sauces but this was just dry and completely underwhelming and there certainly wasn't any indication of extra cheese that we had requested in the order. Also the guanciale was hard, dry and overcooked, like it had been sitting out for some time. The final kicker? We took a few bites and ended up throwing the food out, which is rare for us. As far as service, again, they like to make it abundantly clear it's self serve. While we waited for our to go order, the table next to us had the audacity to ask for napkins and the kitchen staff literally ignored the customer and eventually just pointed to a pile of napkins in the self serve utensils area. Again, just no sense of service. All in all, I wouldn't return, their pasta noodles seems decent but at $15 a plate with such small servings, see pics, and with a "you're on your own" attitude from the staff, I can't justify this place. We like how you can see pictures of the entire menu on the tablets for ordering and how there's a key for how al denté each type of noodle is. Ordering through the pads is a breeze, even though the orders on the screen while you wait are not really clear, you can't really understand what's going on with the orders, it doesn't appear that they clear out the orders that have been done. Not sure. Anyway, food was awesome as usual. Tonight I got the short rib ragù with creste di gallo, absolutely fantastic! I wish there was more sauce and less pasta :). Got a torta della nonna for dessert and while good, I wouldn't probably order it again. Is there pepper in the torta? Next time tiramisù, Due makes the best tiramisu in town! We went here for their grand opening where the first 100 pasta bowls are free, and a special Santa appearance was made to add on to the fun. We got to take pictures with Santa, and Santa gave each party a card that contained a $10 gift card for the restaurant. This was a great opportunity to try out the restaurant in a new location, but I will be writing the review based on original prices to be fair. We tried: - Traditional bolognese ragu: I am not a ragu person but this one was good. I wished there was a bit more meat/sauce if this is one of the more expensive dishes on the menu. We added crunchy tofu that lacked flavor, as well as the chicken meatballs that had quite a bit of carbs within, so if you are looking for a meatier option, go with the pork sausage. - Mushroom & white truffle oil: The sauce here is quite delicious, and the truffle flavor is not overpowering. We got the paccheri which is indicated as the most al dente and the texture is on point! We added pork sausage per recommendation that was good, as well as a burrata that was really creamy. - Smoked salmon: I had this dish in the Capitol Hill location that was solid, and this one was kind of similar in quality. Capitol Hill one was slightly better but I can't scrutinize too much as this place is grand opening and they are working on iterating. - Short ribs ragu: this one was decent, not too saucy like the bolognese ragu, but I liked this one more. We added poached egg for this one, which is nicely runny, but the first bite of it was really sour and vinegary which kind of ruins the dish. I am not sure how they prepared it, but I did not expect poached egg like this. It was interesting that our order came as takeout when we ordered with the cashier and almost everyone else's came as dine-in, because we ordered intending to dine-in. But it was fine, they were busy cranking out orders in the first hour or so of opening. Overall, I enjoyed the concept and most of the food, as you get to customize your dish to your liking. There were a few misses on ingredients that would be good to remedy (the add-ons specifically), but after having Due' Cucina in Capitol Hill, I would definitely recommend this place as a good value Italian pasta restaurant that is fairly casual and efficient. I definitely would stick with whatever they provide for the base for each dish, and skip the add-ons for future visits. read more

Great news for Redmond! Due has arrived where the pasta is made fresh in-house and it is always al dente! Due is one of my favorite pasta joints in the area and the new Redmond location is just as good and consistent as their other locations. Fresh, perfectly cooked pasta with excellent choices of sauces and great sides. Pick your pasta, pick your sauce and enjoy! We had quite a few dishes and each came out quickly and tasted great. Impressive for a first night of soft open with a full house. Sauces sampled included short rib ragu (made dairy free), bolognese, pomodoro, and mushroom with white truffle oil. Pastas sampled were bucatini, campanelle, and paccheri. We had a salad with eggplant, side of burrata and wings alla cacciatore. Additional menu items are on the way per their staff. This location has the benefit of a free parking garage for customers in addition to street parking. It's also two blocks from the light rail stop. With five locations in the area, the owners and staff have it down. Fantastic food in a casual environment at great value! If you haven't tried Due, give them a try - highly recommended! read more
