There's a self-ordering kiosk at the front that takes place instead of a real person taking your order. There's 3 tables to sit and do work or just chat with friends. We got our drinks pretty quickly after ordering. Drink: Strawberry Matcha Einspanner (8.2/10): Super creamy matcha latte! The default is 50% sweetness and it was honestly perfect. I got this drink with whole milk and the matcha combined very well into the drink with no clumps or separating after initial mix. The strawberries tasted very fresh and added a nice tartness and sweetness to the drink! Would definitely get again when I'm in town.

There was no line at all, so my drink came out really quickly. Service was efficient, and basically non existent since you order on your phone, and pick it up from the counter. They have some seats indoors and a few benches outside, it's pretty spare and basic inside which is all you really need in a cafe. I saw a lot of people getting takeout, and some small groups around tables chatting. I was debating between the matcha and houjicha, then got intrigued by the black sesame, and finally after much internal debate, decided that black sesame + houjicha would work best together and wanted the einspanner. They honestly have so many intriguing options like Earl grey matcha einspanner??? Banana pudding?? I have to come back. My only complaint is the price but I guess everything is expensive these days. $8/9 for one of these drinks hurt my heart though. On the flavors: while I wish there was more black sesame (I always do), this was one of the most satisfyingly black sesame items I've had from a cafe. It went really well with the toasty roasty notes from the houjicha and I think they added enough of both amidst the milk to make it a very satisfying drink. This can be rare because a lot of places drown out all the flavors with too much milk. The best part though, was the einspanner - the sweetened whipped cream on top really brought the whole drink together and was so delicious. It made it just that little bit more decadent. I got it at minimal sweetness and at first though it wasn't enough, but I was glad I did as I worked my way through the cup, it was perfect.

The cream top is so good and has a super strong pistachio flavor. Would highly recommend the cheesecake too -- it's super light and creamy at the same time because it has multiple layers. The texture is perfect and one slice is a great size for sharing. The space inside is pretty small and once it gets busy, it would be pretty hard to find seating inside or outside. Service was quick.

COFFEE: 8/10 SERVICE: 8/10 AMBIANCE: 9/10 COFFEE/MATCHA: 8/10 I can definitely see why their Pistachio Einspanner is one of their signature drinks. The pistachio cream was rich and flavorful without being too sweet, and the presentation was beautiful. My only reason for giving it an 8/10 is that the drink leaned a little more toward the creamy side than the espresso, but it was still enjoyable and something I'd recommend trying. I've tried their matcha and honestly thought it was great quality!! I noticed they sell Rocky Matcha, so I wonder if this is the matcha they use as well? If you are not a fan of just matcha and milk, I recommend you ask for a sweetener to add. SERVICE: 8/10 Service is pretty straightforward, and my order came out in a reasonable amount of time. Interactions with staff were pretty quick, but everything ran smoothly. AMBIANCE: 9/10 This coffee shop is minimal, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. It has a cozy modern vibe with thoughtful decor that makes it feel like a great place to slow down, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet morning. They also have a nice outdoor patio if you prefer sitting outside. Seating inside is limited. Overall, I'd definitely come back. While the drinks are a bit on the pricier side, the unique menu and inviting atmosphere make it a fun spot to visit, especially if you're looking to try something different from your usual coffee order. On my next visit, I will definitely need to try more of the desserts that they also sell.

Maison Alyzée is a French fine pastry bakery café located on downtown Burlingame's main strip. Dedicated to providing customers with a Parisian escape through handcrafted elegant pastries and artisanal breads, the bake shoppe doubles as pâtisserie and boulangerie, priding itself on meticulous attention to detail. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a brightly lit and very clean venue. Ray and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful marble-topped white counter that encased a gorgeous variety of exquisite treats. The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open. For this reason, I am docking a star. Luckily, they still had some cold brew available, so I ordered a Lavender Cold Brew with oat milk. Heads-up: Plant-based milks like almond and oat milk incur a $0.75 surcharge. I wish that the lavender was more like a simple syrup, so that the flavour was sweeter and less sharp. Maison Alyzée also offers a selection of breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. I definitely need to return to try one or two or a few of their ostentatious delights.

I visited Maison Alyzee in Burlingame on a Saturday morning, and while the pastries were good, the service felt cold and dismissive. There was no rush, yet the staff was not warm or welcoming. I asked for my raisin au pain to be warmed up, and after waiting outside for about 10 minutes with no update, I went back in to ask. The response was "It's in the oven" was delivered rudely, as though my simple question was an inconvenience. Even when a café is busy, basic courtesy and communication should not be optional. Good food deserves to be matched by good hospitality.
