I got a a cannel de Bordeaux it was alright would have been better with custard filling for $5 The other deserts looked good but no pricing on anything ! I would return but suggesting pricing on items

I love desserts and I love pistacchio flavors - this 100% pistacchio cake is just magnificent! Perfect, I would say, crunchy on the outside, creamy icing on top, and not too sweet. Their flan is unique, but also superb as well as the chocolate cake. Staff were helpful and pleasant, spacious area.

I remember back when I first discovered Maison Alyzee, I was almost instantly intrigued. The cute decor and outdoor seating for starters, but, more significantly, how good their array of pastries and sweet treats looked. So good, in fact, that it was also readily apparent that they weren't cheap. Not a problem in and of itself, but certainly so when the overall experience falls so disappointingly short... Given how different they are compared to the majority of bakeries and patisseries in this part of the Bay Area (even for Burlingame), Maison Alyzee is a great addition to Burlingame Ave. While their selection of goodies includes a number of classic offerings (croissants, almond croissants, pain au chocolat, kouign amann, etc.), they also have a lot of lesser seen items, as well as a variety of gorgeous looking desserts, like tiramisu, pies, cakes, tarts, galettes, cookies, and macarons. In addition, they have a handful of hot offerings, like omelettes, quiche, and croque monsieur/madame, as well as sandwiches, salads, and even some breakfast combos (pastry and drink). -- LEMON TART Not too shabby, though, I wouldn't say it was among the best I've had. The lemon curd had a nice tartness and consistency to it and I thought the crust was solid. That said, I thought it had a bit too much meringue, as all that sweetness overshadowed the lemon curd. -- STRAWBERRY FRUIT TART Not sure they make this anymore (they've only had mixed berry the last few times I've stopped in), but this was actually my favorite thing I've tried. The strawberries were super fresh, the custard was creamy and not too sugary, and the buttery crust was terrific! -- MARBLE QUATRE QUART CAKE Nothing amazing, but nothing to complain about either. While I wish the marbling had been better and that the flavors had been stronger, the taste of the vanilla and chocolate complemented each other really well. Plus, the cake was surprisingly moist, too. -- KOUIGN AMANN I was super hopeful for this one, but it was a bust. The bottom (top?) had a gooey, caramelized crust and the dough was nicely layered, but everything else was a miss for us. The texture of the dough bordered on dry, especially the outside, and this tasted shockingly bland. -- RASPBERRY PISTACHIO NEST On the plus side, this was pretty unique and I liked how the sweetness of the raspberry complemented the pistachio's more savory flavor. On the other hand, it felt like this had a disproportionate amount of dough relative to the amount of filling you get. One thing about Maison Alyzee that feels rather nonsensical to me is their ordering process. The front portion of their display case/counter is full of their various pastries yet none of them are labeled, so there is no way to tell what their more unique offerings are or how much they cost. Sure, the workers are happy to help, but, a lot of times, your turn comes up when you're close to the register, so you have to awkwardly squeeze by everyone to go back to point out what you want (and then squeeze by again) or try to describe what they looked like. It'd sure be helpful if they posted a copy of the menu on that end of the counter instead of leaving them at the register (unless we just didn't see it). As for the actual service, the workers themselves are friendly enough, but it feels inconsistent and rather slow/inefficient. The times I've picked up stuff to-go, I've been in and out in a breeze. However, we dined in this time and even though the place didn't look particularly busy, it still took a curiously long time for us to get our two coffees and two pastries...the latter of which were even warmed up! The couple ahead of us in line had to wait even longer for their order, which was similar to ours, yet another person that came in after us got her pastry and coffee just a few minutes after ordering and sitting down. Weird. Given how I've found Maison Alyzee's desserts and sweet confections to be far more successful, I'd definitely be more inclined to come back for those than the pastries or some of their other dishes. Along those lines, plus points for staying open (relatively) late until 9pm, which makes this place an option for a small dessert. However, even then, it doesn't make up for how expensive so many things are, either. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

We loved everything we ordered and its great that it's open till late so we could enjoy our pastry dessert and coffee after dinner at a nearby restaurant. Cozy chic spot right in the heart of Burlingame :) loved the friendly service, good quality products and clean premises. They had both inside and outdoor seating which was very inviting. In $50 (before tip) we got: - cappuccino - 5/5 - hot and great taste. Perfect portion size. No need to add sugar as it paired great with the desserts just like that - signature chocolate tart - 5/5 - this was surprisingly good. I hope i got the name right. Delicious and dense dark chocolate wooed me in - fruit tart - 5/5 - kiddo loved it and it had good quality berries - chocolate eclair - 5/5 - fancy looking and filled with chocolate. Great texture! Definitely coming back for more soon. The macaroons and coffee eclair looked tempting as well.

Another day, another perfect eating experience at Maison Alyzée! New Lunar Year Mandarine Sesame Croissant with French organic butter, Mandarine Confit, Sesame & Opalys Valrhona white chocolate ganache, Sesame seeds. Vanilla Latte and Water to go with. DELICIOUS! Perfect service, and a beautiful location in Burlingame California while sitting at the window watching the good people and doggos. You'll want to enjoy Maison Alyzée too!

The quality of the pastries are amazing! Cute shop with European feel if you sit outside. Workers are friendly. I advise going earlier in the day for more selection. I went near closing time. Was still able to walk away with a chocolate, hazelnut and pistachio based pastry.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a cup of coffee and maybe a pastry. Nothing really catches my eye in the pastries case but I thought a lemon tart would usually be a safe choice. It was a small tart and the cashier told me it is $9. The best lemon tart I've had from Loquat is almost double in size for $8 so no thanks, I opted out. I decided to get an iced flat white and that was solid and pretty strong.

Fancy French Patisserie (Dessert Place) with Coffee. Excellent pastries! Friendly, attentive service. Perfect place for a quick after dinner date. We had the Lemon Meringue here. Each of their wide varieties of desserts is beautifully executed. I'd come here more often if my waistline would let me! Next time, I'll try their Tiramisu, or one of their Pistachio-based desserts. Definitely worth a visit and a great place to finish off the evening after a meal and a stroll from anywhere nearby. They do catering too, and I think they would do a fantastic job.. Hey Transit Fans! Take the Caltrain here to the Historic Burliingame Depot, and walk the two blocks to get here.. It's awesome! No Transit, No problem! Plenty of parking here for your personal round-wheeled conveyance, whether it be an automobile, bike or most anything else. Public parking lots abound.. Nice job, Burlingame!

    Tiramisu, Vanilla flan, & Latte
    Fork N Spoon ..

We went to Maison Alyzée today and it's become one of our go-to spots. We've been a few times for pastries, and when the weather's nice, sitting outside at their little tables really gives that French bistro, European vibe. We came on a Saturday around 7pm and there was no line but the place was lively, we got lucky and didn't have to wait, probably because most people were still at dinner. Fork ordered: Tiramisu and a latte The latte was good. Nothing to get excited over, but well made. The tiramisu is a standout. It has this nice crunchy chocolate shell on the outside with a smooth, creamy center and just the right hint of coffee. As a tiramisu fiend, this is one I'd absolutely come back for. Spoon ordered: French flan I don't usually go for flan, but this one is different!!! I do absolutely love the custard layer in a fruit tart, so imagine that with a firmer texture and a richer vanilla flavor. It sits in this perfectly thin, almost hidden pie-like crust. It's honestly divine and highly recommended. Before we leave, we typically get a treat for the next morning to have with our chai. I love the banana bread and Fork goes for the croissant. Overall, such a charming spot for dessert and coffee, especially if you can grab a table outside.

Chocolate cake? and 100% pisachio cake

My wife came and got some deserts from Maison Alyzée to go. She got: 100% pistachio - 5 / 5 The pastry had a nice grinded pistachio in them which was thick. While it is a cake like desert, the texture was a little closer to a brownie instead. It wasn't very sweet and I am okay with it because the pistachio taste was amplified but if you are looking for something sweeter, this may not be the one for you. Thick chocolate cake? - 4 / 5 It tasted good. The chocolate was thick and strong. If you're a chocolate lover, this one is for you. This chocolate taste is most likely something you have had before so it's not earth shattering. Yet, this mini cake is still a solid choice to be had. Maison Alyzée offers some of the most unique desert that you don't find just anywhere. You can tell from the desert that the pastry chef definitely honed in on their craft to create unique deserts. Yes, it may taste familiar to things you have had in the past but you've probably never seen it displayed in a shop and that's not mass produced. Yes, the desert here is not cheap but this store would be the representation of you pay what you get.

I made reservations for our party of eight for 6:30 PM via OpenTable. Easy peasy. Adding a few extra minutes to our travel time for finding street parking, we arrived just in time. No other tables were occupied, inside nor outside at the front patio. The venue, a warm space with dramatic lighting, was very clean and tidy during our visit. Trapeze's menu offers Italian fare with Mediterranean and Californian nuances. Upon seating, we were served baskets of complimentary bread accompanied with a unique red thick dipping oil which Peter enjoyed so much that he asked for more. The servers happily gave us extra servings. In addition to cocktails, wine, and coffee drinks, below are what we ordered for dinner: Lemon Citrus and Avocado Salad ($13) - I believe that Mom ordered this and found it to be light and refreshing. Ahi Tuna Tartar ($20) - I think that Peter and Mara shared this and ate it all up. I didn't hear any comments on it, though. Beet Salad ($14) - A very nice salad with generous slices of red and yellow beets and goat cheese. For an additional $12, Auntie Marissa added Salmon to her salad and had it as her main dish which filled her up. Grilled Polenta Cake ($12) - Auntie Marissa found this starter to be rich and filling. She said that Pal would really like it. Penne Con Pomodora E Melanzane ($20) - DJ was not very impressed by this bowl of pasta and eggplant, unfortunately. Paella Valencia ($32) - Uncle Danny is not a big seafood eater, but he was very pleased with this Spanish rice dish. Grilled Filet Mignon ($50) - Yum! This was my order and I loved it. Duck Ragu ($26) - Peter did not seem as enthusiastic about this pasta dish as he did with the complimentary red dipping oil for the baskets of bread. Penne Al Forno ($26) - Mom ordered this and thought that it was good. Classic Italian Tiramisu ($12) - This was served to me on the house, topped with a lit candle for my birthday. Everyone enjoyed sharing it. Bread Pudding ($13) - Ok, according to DJ. Trio of French Mini-Chocolate Beignets ($12) - These round beignets were like light donut holes filled with chocolate. They were nice, especially with the side of whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Service was excellently friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Although DJ didn't think highly of Trapeze Restaurant, Mom and I were delighted by the dinner and would return with pleasure.

However, the menu felt much more limited than I remembered from several years ago, when it seemed more interesting and expansive. My friend and I shared the Chutney Prawns for $18 and the White Elephant Dosa for $26, along with one cocktail and one mocktail. Unfortunately, I was not especially impressed by the food. The prawns felt underwhelming for the price, and my mocktail was not particularly memorable. The dosa was visually impressive at two feet long, but it is ultimately still a very thin dosa and very crispy, and I found the seasoning somewhat overwhelming. The gunpowder and spices overpowered the dish for me, although the sauces and potato masala were flavorful. Our total came to approximately $90, and for that price, I expected a more satisfying overall experience. Service was also inconsistent. It was slow initially, and while our server was cordial and kind once he assisted us, he did not return to check on us after taking our order. We ultimately relied on the bartender for items such as an extra spoon and the check. The ambiance is beautiful, but between the limited menu, high prices, uneven food, and inattentive service, I do not feel the experience justified the cost. Unfortunately, I do not plan to return. For Michelin rated I expected more.

We showed up at 4:55 Sunday evening at a venue in an ordinary strip mall with covered windows. We were the second party there, in a restaurant that seats 16 diners. The restaurant filled up halfway through our meal. We ordered the tasting menu for 2 and one wine pairing. Presentation of all dishes was superb and all were cooked to perfection. We started with a creamy potato leek soup in a glass demitasse cup, followed by a stone fruit salad with crispy prosciutto and ingredients from the chef's own yard. How cool is that? The miso sea bass stood out for both of us and we wished it was the main instead of just a taste of perfection. We would go back for that dish alone. The main was marinated tri-tip - and plenty of it. Like 5 slices! My wife's, pictured nearby, was superb, with slices of beef that melted in our mouths. My plate was not nearly as good, with every slice stringy. I let this slide because a cow is a cow and sometimes this happens. It's also hard to tell prime beef marbled fat from connective tissue when cutting with a sharp chef's knife. Dessert was sorbet and fresh fruit making my tongue very happy. The paired wines echoed each dish, including dessert, and were well worth the price. As other reviewers have pointed out, the $80 charge is well under market value. Diners in downtown San Francisco could easily pay $240 and up for the same menu and cooking quality. We'll be watching the website for the next menu change. Anyone else wish they could email customers when it's updated?

Restaurant had around 5 other groups dining but didn't feel too busy, space is small and intimate so definitely recommend a reservation. Drinks: Wine pairing - came with 4 pours two whites, a red and a sparkling resling, the wines leaned towards European varietals, we were able to split the tasting which was perfect to get a small taste with the 4 courses Food: Caramelized Onion Bisque - a nice amuse bouche, savory with a rich caramelized onion flavor, slightly creamy velvety texture and mouth feel, served with a small toasted slice of bread with broiled cheese Roasted Nectarine Salad with Goat Cheese - solid, a very petit portion size, nectarines was juicy with a slight sweetness and subtle tartness, lemon vinegarette was a nice compliment, goat cheese was mild with a nice soft whipped texture, caramelized pecans added sweet crunchy texture and pops of flavor Black cod with Burre Blanc - tender cod that flaked away with a soft texture, paired nicely with the buttery creamy beurre blanc sauce, snap pea puree added a bit of sweetness, a tad small but very tasty House made sourdough - great, served warm, interior was moist with a nice springy bouncy, great crunchy crust, served with softened butter, wish this came out more towards the beginning but I think the intention was to use it to soak up some sauce so understandable Strawberry Sorbet - great smooth and silky texture on the sorbet ripe strawberry without being too sweet, paired with some Earl gray sponge cake which had a great airy texture, cherry sauce, and crunchy meringue pieces, a nice portion size as well here Grilled Tri-Tip, cooked to a perfect medium rare , super tender, chimmichri added herbaceous slightly spicy garlic kick, sweet romanesco sauce was an interesting contrast, roasted potatoes were great for soaking up the sauces, also served with some grilled bell peppers and a few sauteed shrimp, filling and hearty generous portion size on the main dish Service was excellent, very attentive and well paced. Water was refilled throughout the meal and silverware changed out between each course. Great knowledge of the wines paired with the dishes. Overall really enjoyed Hapa bistro, a small seasonal menu that's well executed, a great affordable tasting menu in the peninsula, French heavy influence, would definitely revisit to try the next seasons offering.
