Spaghetti Bolognese
Bob S.

It is restaurant week in Incline and I saw that Sage Leaf had a special meal. The main entree was a Spaghetti Bolognese which is always my favorite since my Italian grandma made it for me. I entered and sat at the bar because the place was busy and it was a 20 minute wait. I ordered the special. The appetizer was Seared Scallops with a coconut cream polenta. The scallops were done right seared on both sides and the polenta was creamy and full of flavor. Then came the Spaghetti Bolognese which I was looking forward to. It looked appealing but once I tried it the flavor was not what I expected. It was a meat sauce but not a traditional bolognese. It had a different flavor with no tomatoes I think it was mainly wine based. Unfortunately I was expecting a traditional bolognese and it threw me off. And I asked for bread and they didn't have any. I took the dessert home a yellow cake with cream and a raspberry sauce. It was very good. The main thing I'm disappointed with is the Spaghetti Bolognese being not a traditional bolognese. I have eating breakfast here before and it was quite good.

Looking for a solid happy hour with great cocktails and a legit burger? Get yourself to Sage Leaf. Happy hour runs from 5-6pm at the bar only, but if you can snag a seat, it's well worth it. Vodka drinkers, the Sage Leaf cocktail is top notch. Gin lovers, The Bee's Knees is the move (and my personal favorite). Come for the drinks, stay for the burger.

French toast

Really enjoyed the omelette. My mom ordered the french toast and that was also good. We shared their famous biscuits and they were a miss for us. Not worth the extra money. But other than that its definitely worth a visit. The waiter was also very friendly.

We came here for a date night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated at a 4 person table as you enter the restaurant....a little awkward spot to sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was initially attentive but quickly lost interest in us as the night went on. We started with the duck fat fries and biscuits. Both very salty and fatty but so good. Delightful presentation. We then ordered "the burger" and crab cakes. Beautifully plated though the bacon was overdone as was the egg. Our server kind of forgot about us - luckily the hostess came by several times to clean up and check on us. I'd be curious to come for brunch or lunch next time. I think the evening crowd is more focused on cocktails and wine. I should have checked for mocktails on the menu.

Super cute spot I was greeted by Omar. He was so kind and sat us wherever I wanted to be seated. I don't quite remember who was who but they both were so kind and served me Peyton and crystalline. I love the fact that my server also know how to bartend. I think it was like her fifth day there and she was so attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is super cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have the lavender drink. I believe it was called bees something I'm not 100% sure but it was really good. I definitely would come back here again. The French toast was very yummy. Their biscuits were my favorite maple honey Sage biscuits are made in house also had the soy chicken sandwich. my daughter said even the cheese quesadilla was delightful and there's not much to that but cheese in a tortilla however she was raving about it! I definitely will come back here again if you're in incline definitely stop in. Tell them I sent you.

The atmosphere, cocktails and food presentation were is amazing. The burgers fell short of expectations and both were served a bit cool. We had 2 orders of the duck fat fries and while good had just too much salt to the point we had wipe down each fry. Looking back should have had them do them over. Overall, the burgers were disappointing, especially given the price, however the atmosphere and the cocktails were amazing.

We loved Sage Leaf! An adorable little place to grab good food and a drink! The biscuits and gravy were oh so delicious. The shrimp with andouille sausage was also great. Service was good, no complaints and we throughly enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. We live small businesses, would recommend coming here.

Everything about this place is amazing! I want to try everything on the menu. The flavors were delectable in my biscuits and Gouda gravy! So delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff. The ambience. The food. Spectacular!!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My hubby's potatoes had peppers and onions that made everything pop!!!

Corned beef hash 4.5/5 the poached eggs were way overdone but the rest of the plate made up for it

We stopped here before our clear bottom kayak tour next door in early July. What a great choice! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We enjoyed sitting outside in the nice weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was smooth. The corned beef hash was excellent and my partner loved the French toast, especially because it wasn't too much food. We came back the next day when we got rescheduled for some biscuits that were also delicious. Try it out!

My avocado toast was really good, looked great and tasted even better. My husband got the Eggs Benedict and described it as ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is very warm and welcoming[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the staff... Not so much.

My sister is visiting and wanted to go up to Tahoe so we thought we'd grab some girlfriends and do brunch. We had eaten at this restaurant several years prior a couple times but hadn't been back since. Good experiences in the past so I suggested we come here. Made reservations via the website for next day unsure if they are needed when we got there there were two other couples eating. My sis and I took the bench seating and my friends had chairs which they noted were not the most comfortable. Javier was a good server greeted us bringing us drinks I had a hot chocolate which was great, of note they don't have oat milk. They also serve only basic drip coffee no lattes. There's a wide range of flavors for mimosas but we chose mango and we all liked them. Their menu looks delicious. Three of us however chose avocado toast, which itself is fairly affordable. It comes with radishes and balsamic and a couple other toppings that I pass on, adding an egg was 3.50 ouch and adding "candied bacon" was 4.50$ eeek, our fourth lady got the French toast. Javier asked me if Olive oil was okay which I appreciated and agreed it was; however upon eating my eggs and toast it was doused in olive oil like way too much and threw the taste off. I still liked my toast and eggs but the eggs and bacon came on the side not on top of toast which I guess I sort of expected and you can always make it that way yourself. I have to say, this was not bacon. This was just porky belly which is not in the least bit appealing to any of us. So that was definitely misleading on the menu and I think it needs to be changed especially for that price. Overall a decent experience and would consider returning when in the area. Of note, This review was in my drafts and is a late post from January 2025.

I'll say right off, I'm giving them 4-stars since I had time to just grab one drink and a snack. I'm sure when I come back and can hang out for longer, the next review will easily bump up to the 5-star level. Firstly, this is a cool hole in the wall, very nice ambiance, and set back in a way that makes it feel a bit like a speakeasy. The decor is very stylish and atmospheric, with plenty of comfy chairs and spaces at the bar, and the staff were quite friendly. And while I'm not the biggest fan of these in here, the bar has many countertop video poker machines, should you be inclined to play. This is a full bar, so they have plenty of selections for wine, beer, and spirits. But the main attraction are their house cocktails. Only had time to try one on this visit, but that Saffron Sazerac was very interesting indeed, and definitely makes me want to swing by and try more of their menu. And should you need something to snack on, they also have a small menu of bar bites, which is just enough to hit the spot. And as for prices, I found them pretty darn reasonable, especially given this is Tahoe, we're talking about. So yeah, all said, I have been fairly impressed with Gaviota. Definitely going to keep them on my short list of drinking spots on North Shore, and I think anyone looking for a classy beverage will love it here too. Hope to swing by again soon.

The servers were kind and attentive, if a bit shy, but the real standout was the man behind the bar and, I assume, the menu. He was incredibly friendly, took the time to visit each table, and genuinely seemed excited to hear how everyone was enjoying their food and drinks. You can tell he has a real passion for what he does, and that energy adds so much to the experience. I'm blanking on the name of the cocktail I ordered, but it was a mix of a martini and a Negroni, which sounded unusual at first and ended up being absolutely delicious. On the food side, everything we ordered was bang on. The bread with rich tomato sauce was comforting and full of flavor, the chorizo sausages were spicy and savory, the endive salad was bright and acidic, and the milanesa was incredibly tender with a deep earthy flavor and paired with an arugula salad to balance things out. Definitely a place I'll be going back to again and again any time I'm in the area and a strong recommendation for the cocktails, the food, the ambience, but especially the people!

They advertise that they take seasonal ingredients and usually prepare them over a charcoal fire. Their menu presentation is also creative, as they type it out in a receipt format. We came as a large group and ordered their entire menu. It was interesting to see the dishes they came up with. Some were pretty good - such as the sausages, but some were misses or did not really suit our palate. Either way, we had a great time. I would say overall, the food would be a 4/5, but the staff was very friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere.

It's a cozy cafe with seating in the front with booths and tables same by the bar area and they also have outdoor seating. The bar area has numerous TVs and video poker. Today I ate at the bar. The bartender was friendly and quick to take my order. I came for breakfast as I usually do. Today I noticed they had a lobster roll for a reasonable price. I was in Maine and paid twice as much. The lobster roll had a good amount of lobster. It had good chunks of lobster and it was made with butter which I prefer the mayonnaise based ones are not my choice. It came with some good size potato chips that appeared to be made in house and sliced cucumbers. They were both fresh and crunchy. I also had two over easy eggs and ice tea. The eggs were done right and ice tea was good too. It's an old school cafe that I highly recommend. Check it out!

It's located in a little shopping center with not much parking but we were able to get a spot pretty quickly. The outside had a cute little sitting area with a few tables but it was too cold for that haha. Inside is small-ish with about 4 tables plus a high seating area but we were able to sit our party of 8 comfortably by pushing 2 tables together. And the lady at the register was very nice and helpful with suggestions. On to the good stuff...THE FOOD. Five of us got burgers, each one a different way on the menu and each of us gives them a 5/5! They were cooked perfectly, super flavorful, and all around an excellent burger. My 13 year old got the chicken sandwich and said the pickles were delicious and the amount was perfect, so she gives them a 5/5. Fries were thin cut & crispy. Inclines fries were better BOMB 5/5 for us & same with the garlic fries. And my kids said the chicken nuggets were crispy and fresh. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and she did a great job walking us through the day's specials as well as some of her favorite picks. I started with the In Crowd cocktail and really enjoyed it. The coconut, basil, and bitters balanced beautifully with the gin, making for a super refreshing drink that felt especially perfect for spring or summer weather. We followed our server's advice and ordered four items, two larger plates and two starters, and everything was delicious. Here's the breakdown: Trout Dip: Fantastic smoky, fishy flavor in all the right ways, served with crostinis. The only small nitpick was that the crostinis were overdone for my taste and shattered loudly when bitten into. Grilled Prawns: Super meaty and seasoned and sauced perfectly, with a bed of slaw that balanced the dish nicely. Scallops: Seared to perfection and in an addicting red Thai curry sauce. I was intrigued by the combo of kimchi, grits, and curry and have to say that it somehow blends amazingly well. Lamb Chops: Cooked to a perfect medium rare, expertly seasoned, with little gaminess and a cooling yogurt sauce that really brought the dish together. All in all, it was a fantastic meal and easy to see why this place is such a favorite among both locals and tourists. The food, the drinks, and the service all come together to make this a great option for any occasion from a casual night out (us) to celebrating something memorable like a graduation (several were happening while we were there).
