    Spaghetti Bolognese
    Bob S.

It is restaurant week in Incline and I saw that Sage Leaf had a special meal. The main entree was a Spaghetti Bolognese which is always my favorite since my Italian grandma made it for me. I entered and sat at the bar because the place was busy and it was a 20 minute wait. I ordered the special. The appetizer was Seared Scallops with a coconut cream polenta. The scallops were done right seared on both sides and the polenta was creamy and full of flavor. Then came the Spaghetti Bolognese which I was looking forward to. It looked appealing but once I tried it the flavor was not what I expected. It was a meat sauce but not a traditional bolognese. It had a different flavor with no tomatoes I think it was mainly wine based. Unfortunately I was expecting a traditional bolognese and it threw me off. And I asked for bread and they didn't have any. I took the dessert home a yellow cake with cream and a raspberry sauce. It was very good. The main thing I'm disappointed with is the Spaghetti Bolognese being not a traditional bolognese. I have eating breakfast here before and it was quite good.

    Duck and Basil pesto pasta

Highly recommend the duck and the basil pesto pasta--the asparagus and peas gave it such a vibrant, fresh flavor. Service was fantastic as well; Julian took great care of us and made the visit memorable.

Fantastic dinner at sage leaf. I have been going here for years, and decided to take my girlfriend out for her birthday. Cocktails were delicious, our favorite food items were the pork belly, which was complimented nicely with purple slaw, the chicken thighs, with a sauce and balsamic glaze you could put on anything, and the braised short rib, that could've been more fall apart, but still fantastic flavor and the potato puree was the perfect side. I also wanted to give a special shoutout to our waiter, Andres, who made this night extra special. Not only was it my girlfriend's birthday, but this was the night I asked her to officially be my girlfriend (she said yes!) with the help of Andres and the rest of the staff, it was the perfect evening and I can't thank them enough.

Looking for a solid happy hour with great cocktails and a legit burger? Get yourself to Sage Leaf. Happy hour runs from 5-6pm at the bar only, but if you can snag a seat, it's well worth it. Vodka drinkers, the Sage Leaf cocktail is top notch. Gin lovers, The Bee's Knees is the move (and my personal favorite). Come for the drinks, stay for the burger.

I came here with my parents who live about a half hour away. My stepmom was able to secure a 5pm dinner slot inside. It fills up pretty fast. Our server Manuel was friendly and efficient. I loved the yacht rock music. But it may have been a little loud for my Dad and stepmom. They both ordered the duck pasta. My dad wanted more duck. They also split the beet salad. I had the vegan saute- which was delicious. We all split two orders of the sage cheddar biscuits. A day later my mouth is still watering thinking about that. I can't remember the name of the mocktail- fruit juices and a ginger beer. It was also quite delightful.

Great food, served with heart! Wonderful taste. Great service. Reasonable price. Except that we waited for too long for our food to be served :(

Really enjoyed the omelette. My mom ordered the french toast and that was also good. We shared their famous biscuits and they were a miss for us. Not worth the extra money. But other than that its definitely worth a visit. The waiter was also very friendly.

The Burger sans bacon with side of soup instead of fries. The burger was good but the soup was even better.

Looking to beat the heat in reno so hopped over the hill for lunch at this place. I had seen it yelped before but just never had time to stop. I got there about 1pm which is cutting it close as it closes at 2 for dinner switchover at 5. but they were still bustling and tables were 3/4 full. Parking was easy although the lot is shared by many stores so i have seen it full at other times. They have indoor seating but the covered patio was beautiful today. I got the burger and instead of fries i took a chance and got the roasted tomato and red pepper soup. Yes i know soup is an odd pairing with a burger but i really wanted to try it. And so glad i did! It was fantastic. Great depth of flavor. The burger was grilled to a medium temp which i prefer, and i didn't even have to specify that. Great flavor in the patty and the fried egg in top added to it once the yolk was broken and oozed down the side. I asked for ketchup on the side because it comes with an aioli on the bun but i really didn't need it. The aioli was delicious. Service was spot on with good recommendations. Only nitpik was that $5 for a can of coke that is not refillable is a bit expensive when i can get coke for a buck all day elsewhere.

We came here for a date night. We were seated at a 4 person table as you enter the restaurant....a little awkward spot to sit. Our server was initially attentive but quickly lost interest in us as the night went on. We started with the duck fat fries and biscuits. Both very salty and fatty but so good. Delightful presentation. We then ordered "the burger" and crab cakes. Beautifully plated though the bacon was overdone as was the egg. Our server kind of forgot about us - luckily the hostess came by several times to clean up and check on us. I'd be curious to come for brunch or lunch next time. I think the evening crowd is more focused on cocktails and wine. I should have checked for mocktails on the menu.

The atmosphere, cocktails and food presentation were is amazing. The burgers fell short of expectations and both were served a bit cool. We had 2 orders of the duck fat fries and while good had just too much salt to the point we had wipe down each fry. Looking back should have had them do them over. Overall, the burgers were disappointing, especially given the price, however the atmosphere and the cocktails were amazing.

Super cute spot I was greeted by Omar. He was so kind and sat us wherever I wanted to be seated. I don't quite remember who was who but they both were so kind and served me Peyton and crystalline. I love the fact that my server also know how to bartend. I think it was like her fifth day there and she was so attentive. This place is super cute. I have the lavender drink. I believe it was called bees something I'm not 100% sure but it was really good. I definitely would come back here again. The French toast was very yummy. Their biscuits were my favorite maple honey Sage biscuits are made in house also had the soy chicken sandwich. my daughter said even the cheese quesadilla was delightful and there's not much to that but cheese in a tortilla however she was raving about it! I definitely will come back here again if you're in incline definitely stop in. Tell them I sent you.

We loved Sage Leaf! An adorable little place to grab good food and a drink! The biscuits and gravy were oh so delicious. The shrimp with andouille sausage was also great. Service was good, no complaints and we throughly enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. We live small businesses, would recommend coming here.

We did not get to spend as much time here as we would have liked so I'll just say that our cocktails were delicious, the bartender was super friendly and cool to chat with, and it's essentially a speakeasy connected to the bbq restaurant next door. How fun is that? We came in shortly after the bar opened, after our bike ride along the lake. We were hungry but the kitchen wasn't open yet, and we had to get back to Truckee for plans we already made. If we had no other places to be, we would have lingered around longer and possibly had another drink, but definitely tried the bbq next door as the bartender said it's good and we could smell the wood and meat cooking. I ordered the night for one special or something similar. Came with crab cake appetizer (1 crab cake) Chilean sea bass ( with quinoa and broccolini) and crème brûlée. The quinoa had no seasoning and was very dry. Had to douse with lemon to make edible. The broccolini was decent again with lemon and the bass was fine.. nothing special. For 60$ I was hoping for more flavor overall. Daughter got the clam chowder. Which was really good. Wife and son got pasta. Wife got the shrimp pasta son got the butter and noodles. We ended up mixing the 2 together and was decent. Dessert we got the strawberry butter cake, crème brûlée (came with my meal), and lava cake. Dessert was definitely the highlight of the meal. Definitely recommend the butter cake! For a 200$ dinner overall was disappointed. Service was fine. Ambiance was nice- decor was nicely done. Just don't think the food was worth the price personally.

It is worth the trip up Mt. Rose for a date night. It is located at the end of a strip mall shopping center with discrete signage and a funky Jameson "open" sign. The seating arrangement is unique and varied with wooden benches, hearth height tables, and bistro cafe tables. Surprisingly, the bistro table with offbeat folding chairs was surprisingly comfortable for my husband and I through 4-courses. Service was warm and welcoming. Like actually welcoming. Like we were sitting in their living room as an invited guest. The drink menu was presented in an oversized, laminated booklet whereas the food menu was printed out from the POS at the timestamp for when we sat--carbon copies with white and yellow paper. The whole experience so far felt like we had stumbled into a secret speakeasy. The cocktail list was very unique. I took a chance and ordered Abu Hassan Does The Amalfi which had Arak (anise taste) cut with gin to bring down the strength which mixed well with the mint and lemon. I do not usually like anise and didn't know what Arak was, so when I smelled it I figured I would be trading drinks with my husband. Opposite actually--it was a delicious cocktail and ended up ordering a second during the meal. The husband ordered Hugo Verde which was a thick cocktail, almost like a juice. He ordered Double L Negrini next, and it was amazing!! I had a sip and wished I had ordered it myself! A harmonious mix between a Negroni and martini. I would recommend starting with this cocktail if you are unsure. On to the food, we placed our order for four dishes at the top, and each on was delicious and timed out perfectly to allow us to appreciate each dish and enjoy our conversation. Each dish was perfect for my husband and I to share. Started with Pan Tomat which was grilled bread with a spicy tomato spread. Then, the Grilled Chorizo with Amora (French mustard) was served in a mini cast iron skillet. I'm not a fan of mustard, but the mini chorizo links paired perfectly with the French-style mustard. We then enjoyed our veggies with Britt's Panzanella. This salad was bright, fresh and had the most delicious tomatoes! Finally, we ended with Ribeye Cap from the Josper which was perfectly cooked--pink inside and charred on the outside. The meat was served already cut which was perfect for sharing and did not require a knife. As we completed each dish I told my husband that it was my favorite. Literally every dish was amazing. I would not have changed a single thing, but at the same time I am eager to taste the dishes that I didn't not get to try. I am looking forward to an excuse to do another date night up in Incline as soon as possible.

The servers were kind and attentive, if a bit shy, but the real standout was the man behind the bar and, I assume, the menu. You can tell he has a real passion for what he does, and that energy adds so much to the experience. I'm blanking on the name of the cocktail I ordered, but it was a mix of a martini and a Negroni, which sounded unusual at first and ended up being absolutely delicious. On the food side, everything we ordered was bang on. The bread with rich tomato sauce was comforting and full of flavor, the chorizo sausages were spicy and savory, the endive salad was bright and acidic, and the milanesa was incredibly tender with a deep earthy flavor and paired with an arugula salad to balance things out. Definitely a place I'll be going back to again and again any time I'm in the area and a strong recommendation for the cocktails, the food, the ambience, but especially the people!

Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and she did a great job walking us through the day's specials as well as some of her favorite picks. I started with the In Crowd cocktail and really enjoyed it. The coconut, basil, and bitters balanced beautifully with the gin, making for a super refreshing drink that felt especially perfect for spring or summer weather. We followed our server's advice and ordered four items, two larger plates and two starters, and everything was delicious. Here's the breakdown: Trout Dip: Fantastic smoky, fishy flavor in all the right ways, served with crostinis. The only small nitpick was that the crostinis were overdone for my taste and shattered loudly when bitten into. Grilled Prawns: Super meaty and seasoned and sauced perfectly, with a bed of slaw that balanced the dish nicely. Scallops: Seared to perfection and in an addicting red Thai curry sauce. I was intrigued by the combo of kimchi, grits, and curry and have to say that it somehow blends amazingly well. Lamb Chops: Cooked to a perfect medium rare, expertly seasoned, with little gaminess and a cooling yogurt sauce that really brought the dish together.
