    Prickly pear cider on draft

Whitecaps Pizza -- North Lake Tahoe Whitecaps Pizza is one of those spots where the location alone gives it a little extra something. Sitting on the patio with a view of the lake automatically puts a place a notch above, in my opinion. We had a group of 10 of us, and considering Whitecaps is one of the busiest spots on the North Shore, we decided to try our luck. They don't really have a set system for ordering ahead or takeout--it seems to depend pretty heavily on how busy they are. Luckily, they were able to get our whole group right in! Our server was quick, efficient and friendly, especially considering how busy they were. Drinks and food came out without us feeling like we were waiting forever. For a drink, I had the prickly pear cider, which was crisp, sweet and delicious. My wife and I started with the Caesar salad, which was fresh and really good. It was definitely heavy on the garlic, but I happen to LOVE garlic, so that worked for me. We also ordered the garlic cheese bread for the table. I had high hopes because it comes on focaccia, and I thought that would give it a little something different and maybe take it over the top. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me. It was a little dry and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. For our entrée, my wife and I shared the pesto chicken sandwich. It was good and definitely did the trick, but I wouldn't say it was the best pesto chicken sandwich I've ever had. Now...the pizza. Several people in our group ordered different pizzas, and every bite I stole was SO good. Someone ordered the shrimp scampi pizza, which was a little different than what I would normally order, but WOW--it was really, really good. Overall, even with the restaurant being extremely busy, the service was efficient and our food and drinks didn't take forever. And let's be honest, sitting on a patio with a view of Lake Tahoe while eating pizza is hard to beat. So if you're on the North Shore, give this little spot a whirl. Just be prepared for it to be busy--and if they have room for you, take advantage of it!

Had lunch here when visitng Lake Tahoe. They have a great outdoor patio on the beach with a lovely view. We ordered the Caesar Salad and Hot Honey Pie. The Caesar was very good and fresh with perfect amount of dressing and plenty of parmesan. The Hot Honey Pie consisted of vodka sauce drizzle, ezzo pepperoni, bacon, ricotta, fresh basil, and a hot honey drizzle. Delicious. The crust was nice and crispy and all the toppings came together nicely. The service was friendly and courteous. Will plan to visit again when in the Tahoe area.

Probably the best pizza in Kings Beach! Atmosphere: Casual, clean, and modern, with a beautiful lakeside location. Seating: Indoor dining, bar seating, and an outdoor patio. Service: Moderate, could be slow during busy hours Restrooms: Two unisex restrooms located downstairs. Pet-friendly: The outdoor patio welcomes pets. Recommended: * Vodka Pie * Spicy Hawaiian * Craft Mushroom * Vegetarian Pizza (If you're vegan or vegetarian, this place has plenty of delicious options to choose from) * Spinach Salad * House Salad * Caesar Salad * Chianti Wine * Freshies The gourmet pizzas were fresh, loaded with generous toppings, and paired with flavorful sauce combinations. My favorite was the Spinach Salad: it was fresh and delicious. Their drink selection is also quite extensive, and they're happy to customize beverages upon request. For example, you can order a half lemonade and half beer mix if that's your style. Overall, a great spot for tasty pizza, fresh salads, and relaxing lake views.

We got the soppressata honey drizzle pizza to go which was great! Our only complaints would be that it's a bit overpriced, and our order took longer than the wait time we were told. Still it's a cute spot that seems to stay consistently busy.

Ambience is good - there was around 1 hr of wait time for indoor tables and FCFS for rest of the area. I liked the outdoor seating - lake facing. We tried chicken meatballs, mushroom pizza and bread pudding without whipped cream. Bread pudding just stole the show - a perfect blend of caramel, sea salt and obviously the banana bread pudding. Pizza base was really good, well cooked with the right crunch. I found the flavour okayish- but felt something was missing. Either the entire toppings were not equally done, or something else needs to be added to the pizza. Chicken buffalo meatballs were amazing - loved their sauce and the ranch combo.

Whitecaps Pizza is a great pizza option in North Lake Tahoe. Located in Kings Beach just a short drive from Incline Village, it offers beautiful lake views, a relaxed atmosphere, and some seriously tasty pizza. The pizza is absolutely the reason I keep coming back. My longtime favorite is the Soppressata pizza with hot honey drizzle. The combination of spicy, savory, and sweet is outstanding, and it might be one of the few pizzas that's just as good the next day as leftovers. On my most recent visit, we tried the Vodka Pie on the Detroit-style crust. While I enjoyed the flavors, I discovered that the Detroit-style crust probably isn't for me. Going forward, I'll stick with their more traditional crust options, which I've consistently enjoyed over the years. The beet salad is another standout. It's beautifully presented, and the fresh dill on top adds a unique touch that works surprisingly well. My only suggestion would be to increase the portion of beets a bit, as the amount felt somewhat limited compared to the rest of the dish. The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of options for almost any taste. Wine drinkers will find a handful of choices available by the glass or half bottle, which is appreciated, although none of the wines I've tried have been particularly memorable. The biggest challenge for Whitecaps continues to be the service. While I've had a few positive experiences, I've also had multiple visits where service felt inattentive and unfriendly. It often seems difficult to get someone's attention when you need something, and there have been occasions where details were overlooked, including being served wine in a visibly dirty glass. While it was replaced when brought to their attention, the lack of acknowledgment or apology left something to be desired. That said, I continue to return because the pizza is genuinely that good. Between the lake views, the casual atmosphere, the excellent beer selection, and tasty pizza. Whitecaps remains a great place to gather with friends, share an appetizer and a pizza, and enjoy a cold drink. If the service ever catches up to the quality of the food, this place could easily become a top pizza option in NLT.

This place is worth the wait. Sit at the bar. The pizza is awesome, beer is awesome. Service is great. What does could you ask for.

We did some kayaking then found this right across Tahoe Beach Company where we rented the kayaks. We loved the 3 appetizers -- Crab Grillet, Roasted Beets, and Anchovy on Toast. We also had two 12" pizza and loved them, too. Super friendly staff.

What a fun Saturday night dinner vibes. They have plenty of TVs to watch the games. Beer selection was good and the pizza options are so diverse. The staff was kind and attentive. We will definitely be back! We ordered the garlic cheese bread to start and it was perfectly crispy!

I avoid carbs for health reasons. I will break all my rules for Whitecaps. * The pizza: The Italian arrived nuclear hot, fresh, and flawless! * The service: Friendly, efficient, actually cares. * The beer: Extensive tap selection that'll make you stay for round two. * The vibe: You can tell everyone here actually gives a damn! Ha! If you're in Tahoe and you skip this place, you messed up. I'll be back before my blood sugar even recovers.

However, my current opinion stands as mediocre at best. Ambience is cozy and old-school, borderline needing a deep clean. I ordered the Lumaconi, it tasted fine. But one of the problems with this restaurant is how the food is plated and presented. You can see from most pictures that it lacks visual appeal. My sister ordered the lasagna. It was interesting that the meat inside was a sliced meatball. I don't know what to say about that. Lastly, my niece ordered Angel hair pasta. I would venture to guess that they boiled a whole box and dumped that same portion into her bowl. Way too much pasta and lacking balance with the few scattered tomatoes and protein, of what looked to be a boiled chicken breast. Wishing we could have visited here in its prime. If you visit, you definitely won't be dazzled, but it's possible that you might not be disappointed.

We came in as Walk-ins and despite the fact that there were 17 parties on the reservation list before us, we still were able to be seated and within 25 minutes. Our server Caroline was quick to get our orders in and as first time visitors, she made excellent suggestions to make our night unforgettable. To start, we had two drinks off the menu, the Whiskey Mango Foxtrot and the Spicy Cucumber Mar-tini. Both were excellent, and the marg-tini had an especially good japalepeno kick, which is what I was looking for. We're normally old fashion kind of drinkers but the Whiskey Mango Foxtrot had excellent flavor and was well balanced, with what tasted like a Tajin mango. The real star of the show was the food though. The server wasn't joking when she said the nachos are best shared with two people, and I even opted for the guacamole. The carnitas were buttery tender and the cheese sauce tasted gourmet and incredibly flavorful. I definitely recommend these! They were probably some of the best nachos I've had, and this is coming from someone that's lived in Santa Barbara for 5 years! Next up was the burrito bowl, and the first thing that comes to mind is: generous! We're used to spending $25 an entree in the city and still leaving the restaurant hungry, but not here. The chips were fresh and crispy and truly taste hand made. The birria beef was amazing and tender and flavorful, and the pickled onions and vinegar sauce was the chefs kiss on an altogether amazing dish. We're so glad to have finally made it over here! Bottom line, this restaurant is worth checking out if you're in the area. It's packed with locals every night, but don't let the long wait times dissuade you, they under-promise and over deliver. These are the best drinks and food with Mexican flare this side of the Sierras, and will become a staple during our visits to the area. If you appreciate good food, drinks, and an amazing mountain atmosphere, you owe it to yourself to put Shadyside Lounge on your short list of places to try, I know I did and the only regret I have is not coming here sooner!

We typically order from the bar portion of the menu at water bar/ short rib tacos, tenderloin burgers, cobb salad etc and those options are very good but we decided to try out the top end of the menu and it was pretty good but not great. Bacon wrapped Filet was under seasoned. and didn't have a great sear on it like really good steakhouses do. I felt like the sauce/gravy and mashed potatoes carried the flavor on the dish and the meat didn't have a savory flavor and you really needed the sauce because the meat alone would've been mediocre. Luckily the sauce and potatoes were tasty and the dish was overall good. Seasoning that steak top and bottom and a proper searing would take it from good to great!! 7.5/10 My wife ordered the halibut and it was pretty good but not great. A little dry , needed a little more seasoning and love to be a great dish. Risotto was just an uninteresting glob of goo with no flavor. When you pay 54$ for a fish dish , you expect it to be really good....... i'd say the halibut was 6/10 - room for improvement . Great location with lake views and the pier and marina right there. It was blackened and seared rare. It was perfectly cooked and tasty. It came with wasabi mashed potatoes and an arugula salad. The potatoes were good but the salad was overdressed. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad. The salad was mixed greens along with olives, blue cheese, bacon, an egg, avocado, cucumber, tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette. Again, the salad was overdressed and the ingredients were rather scarce. The chicken was on skewers. The chicken was rubbery, dry and tough - so much so, I had to wrestle them off the skewers. I ended up taking one bite and not eating the rest. I had a strawberry milkshake to go for dessert. That was delicious. We have been coming here for years but will likely not make the drive again.
