I've been here twice and the service was not bad, however both times my coffee was pretty much undrinkable. The first time I ordered a laveder latte and the coffee was very astringent and no sweetness/flavor was detectable. The second time I came in for a cortado and I got what was more basically a macchiato in a to go espresso cup (those itty bitty ones) about 3/4 or so full-the coffee was so astringent and bitter and was definitely not anywhere near a cortado that I just poured it out and left. Maybe I'll be back sometime when the coffee is dialed in and is pulling consistently (hopefully the baristas will figure out that a macchiato is not the same thing as a cortado). read more

The coffee is good, much like you'd get from other Fiore locations. The matcha green tea latte, especially iced, is also delicious, some of the best around. On a nice day, the outdoor beach chair seating is nice, even though empty seats can be hard to find. On colder days, the indoor seats near the door can get chilly. Either way, the view to the all way stop intersection is always interesting. Bad four way stop drivers are always just a sip away. People here are mostly locals from near by. They aren't too loud for the most part, and don't stay forever either. Not a lot of laptop folks here, mostly because there is no wifi. It also closes rather early (often 5pm). Street parking is easy to find, once you manage to dodge other crazy drivers and the buses. Overall, good coffee, relaxing atmosphere, interesting view, easy parking, no wifi. read more

One of Ballard's neighborhood coffee houses, Caffe Fiore is definitely worth visiting. It's so hard, as that I've been to so many of Ballard's cafes, and each one has it's own thing. Fiore is convenient to the gym nearby, has a convenient ramp for those people with wheels, has a small kids play area and seating, and great coffee. I love that they have both gluten and gluten-free pastries, as well as savory and sweet. They also have some yogurt options, and while not my favorite brands, I love having the option to just grab a yogurt and go. Their espresso drinks are great, but most days, I dig a cold brew, and they have that even when I've come in during the winter. The staff are always personable, though it can slow the line. This definitely has a great neighborhood vibe. read more

Eight miles in to a 16 mile run I stopped here and asked if I could use the restroom. The barista refused stating that it was for paying customers only. I was a little surprised and asked again. Still refused. On one hand I understand but in my experience running near Greenkake, Starbucks and other coffee shops are so welcoming to runners. On this particular route I used to use the restroom at Golden Gardens if needed but after a female runner was attacked there a few years ago, I avoid it. I know that this is a well travelled running route that goes by this coffee shop. Others must stop here once in a while. I considered buying something but instead chose to leave and stop elsewhere. The Barista seemed like a nice enough guy so I'm guessing this is their policy. However, I won't be a customer here again. read more

The staff here are wonderful. They are nice and social and work hard. Why the 1 star then? The food selection here drives me insane. Fiore basically only offers sugary breakfast foods. I know this going in so I'm not faulting them for it. With that said, it's an absolute crap shoot when you go in there past 8am as to what you are going to get. I've gone there at 9:30am on a Saturday and all they've had left is the donuts. I go in there on weekends and the same thing can happy by 10:30am. They're open until 6pm!?! Every pastry they sell is about $4. The least they could do is make sure that there is something to go with my coffee. I asked about this and they seem worried that there might be things leftover. Ever heard of day olds? With the prices they have, they can certainly afford a little hospitality margin to make sure that they have something for people to eat. They also have food items that almost nobody eats. If the little $4 mini-loaves that look like they were made by a 10 year old are not bought by almost anyone, then why do they stock them? They don't have an on site manager, so maybe that's why they don't pick up on this. Stop stocking the things that sell last and stock more of what sells first. Sadly, I wrote a nice long email to them to the email listed on their website. Even though I've dropped at least $500 there this year, they don't have the consideration to even write me back. They need to stock more things. Their business does drop in the afternoon, but it's also their making. Why go to a coffee shop that has NOTHING left? Bring in sandwiches for after lunch. Have a better/stronger/larger selection of items in the morning. I walk in and walk out of there once a week because of this. My average bill is probably $7.50 plus a buck for a tip. That's $375 in lost revenue just from me. Whoever owns this business needs to get their head out of their backside. I would love to rate this place higher as the staff are great, but it's a little hard to do when the ownership really doesn't care what their customers think. read more

I love caffe Fiore! The coffee is nutty, rich with a hint of chocolate and smooth. Everyone is so nice and they treat you like a friend. Lauren has been there for along time and she makes the best foam in the city. I kid you not! I'm a Latte snob and have been to almost every cafe in Seattle and else where. An extra bonus.. I've been to this location as well as the Leary Way one, and they are both great. This one feels more open due to the location and set up of the shop itself. And it's closer to my house, so I frequent it more often. The coffee is delicious and worth the extra money. The baristas are always nice and personable. They never appear assuming as in some coffee shops. It feels so warm and cozy inside, particularly with the big tables that feel like you can sit down and strike conversation with anyone that walks in. It has the nice neighborhood feel to it. Some organic companies feel pretentious but not Caffe Fiore. It's a great place to go for meetings, catch-ups, and chill-outs. read more

Whenever I leave Seattle I have a bit of anxiety about when and where I'll be getting my coffee. I don't require copious amounts, just the perfect short americano to get me going in the morning. I don't drink lattes and my much loved mochas are a thing of the past. This is because I've become accustomed to Caffe Fiore's delicious coffee perfectly pulled by multi-talented and friendly baristas. The coffee is organic as is pretty much everything else there. When I got my first iced drink of the season a couple of days ago, i found that the to-go cups are now made from biodegradable rice material. That's what you pay for there. It's not a secret haunt anymore and the line can get long during peak times but they are quick and it's worth the wait. read more

I love this coffee shop. The espresso is good, my iced chai latte is always perfect (they use morning glory) with the right amount of chai to milk ratio (they aren't shy with the chai), and it's just a charming little place. They also offer almond and rice milk (aside from soy). They have a smaller amount of indoor seating but they also have some nice outdoor seating. The baristas have always been friendly and they all clearly have great taste in music because I think every time I've been in there I've shazammed a song to figure out the artist. read more

I've noticed this place a handful of times while driving to Golden Gardens and finally took the opportunity to wander over for some latte this morning. Burnt orange colored walls peppered with artwork (I imagine from local artists) add a comforting/autumn-ish vibe. My mom and I ordered an orange flavored latte...delicious. There's wooden tables, benches, and chairs for seating (outdoor seating in the front of the coffee shop as well). Kid friendly too (a small play area in the back corner for the kiddos). i love this place...nice baristas and cute outside seating to relax while watching ballard residents walking their dogs! my only complaint is that they don't have white choc..my bf says well nari white choc can't be organic since it's made of butter and all that bad stuff..i don't care i'll have my white chocolate and eat it too! they have good syrup so i always get a raspberry italian soda with cream and no whip cream...my dad likes the drip there so i always grab him one and i've had a carmel americano and i liked it...i'm glad this is in my neighborhood :) plus they are all organic which is kind of a downer in my book but oh well...their cups are pretty and compostable! read more

I used to live walking distance from Caffe Fiore on 85th (now I go to the one in Ballard) and I now realize how lucky I was to live so close! I love both locations, but this one has more of a laid back neighborhood cafe feel to it. It's small but really cozy. Cafe' Sevilla--SO good. It's a mocha with strips of orange peel in it. I wish they cost a little less, but as a treat, very worth it. I've had things to eat there, but nothing is standing out in my memory. Oh, the banana bread was fine. What else--it's close to my house, so it's a good place to go after a walk with a friend. The closest coffeeshop to my home by far, and after 2 years I'm done with it. Biggest gripe? Service. The baristas are classic examples of "I work in a Seattle local coffee place, so I'm so cool and hot and pretentious" which drives me up the wall. My favorite cafe in Seattle. Lots of regulars. Baristas have been changing a lot recently but they all seem to be nice and do a great job with the coffee. Highly recommended if you are in the area. They bring in breads, donuts, pastries from outside and often run out on Sundays. There is always a fresh supply on Mondays though. I've been here 3 to 4 times now for the simple fact that they have my favorite doughnuts, and they're close. But after today, I've had quite enough. First off, every single time I've been here, not once has an employee said "Welcome" or "How are you?". It's just "What are you having?". Oh joy, another barista who hates their job. Next, the place is always teeming with unemployed housewives and their kids. I'm not sure what attracts so many children to this coffee shop, but they are always there! This is definitely not the place to go to if you want to sit down to a nice cup of coffee and do some reading. You'll probably get a doughnut, or other portable food object, thrown your way sooner or later. This place is also more pricey because its apparently all "organic" and grown fairly, or something. What really ticked me off is that, after paying $5 for a cup of liquid, they can't even MIX it for me. I got my mocha today and there's half an inch of chocolate on the bottom followed for a bunch of milk. Not only did I have to mix it up with a straw but it left me wondering where the coffee was. It was so light I couldn't imagine it having more than half a shot of espresso. My partners latte was the exact same. Bunch of syrup on the bottom and hardly any coffee. In fact, when we got back home I pulled a shot of my own espresso and poured it in. I guess getting syrup in the cup is better than paying for it and not getting enough to even taste, like it normally is. Bottom line: expect high prices for poor service and crappy coffee drinks. They are obviously trying too hard to be fancy but are failing at it. Be nice to your customers, make them a drink they will enjoy. DON'T make them "half a drink" that they need to finish assembling themselves. I will not be returning to this place when there much better places in the same area. read more

On my endless search for a decent espresso bar where I can read the morning paper in the crown hill neighborhood I came across Cafe Fiore. I stepped to the counter and ordered a cup of coffee to go with my paper to which I was greeted with an annoyed smirk and a $2.65 bill. DRIP COFFEE for almost $3? OK, I thought it should be an awesome cup of coffee for that price. - It was not. After reading the paper for about 20min of reading the paper I went to the counter and asked for a refill cup of decaf. The barista told me that they did not have any decaf drip, and that they don't brew decaf, but if I wanted, they would make me an americano for an additional $3.25. Now aside from the fact that this is a coffee shop and that some people cannot handle too much caffeine - expecting me to pay $3.25 to refill my cup is just ridiculous! I mean, offer me an americano as a substitute because you don't want to brew decaf coffee - Fine. Charge me over $3.00 to refill my cup of coffee? give me a break. I was treated like they were doing me a favor for allowing me to purchase over priced coffee at their "cafe'". Needless to say, I wont be back. read more

I wish I could give this experience less that 1 star. The guy made all of our drinks incorrectly as I waited outside with our daughter while my wife ordered. When she came back out I went in to use the restroom where he rudely informed me it's for customers only. I told him my wife just ordered 2 drinks and he didn't apologize. Later on her drink was made so poorly that she had to throw it out. This place is a beautiful spot, very cost, the perfect coffee nook but I'll be avoiding it because if the the way they treat staff. Location location location. At the very top of the stairs leading down to golden gardens, this shop has one of the strongest atmospheres going. The baristas are always friendly and there is real sense of community here. The espresso is on par with what is normal for seattle (generally overrated), but really, this place is all about the vibe. read more

Why 5 stars? We drive from Green Lake to Ballard for coffee. That must tell you something......It is that delicious. For the first time in 20 years I do not take vanilla in my iced lattes. There are a few reasons that Greenwood living has been a difficult adjustment for me. The first is that I moved from Capitol Hill, thus endured a significant culture shock. The second is being far removed from everything I had loved, including my choice among the snobby, higher quality coffee shops that seem to begin with the letter "V." Enter: Caffe Fiore. This place works for four reasons: 1) It is only a 2-mile (maybe less?) jaunt from my perch on top of Ballard/Crown Hill/Greenwood. 2) The baristas, though occasionally hostile or pretentious, pour an excellent latte - the best in a 2 mile radius- which appeases Kristen the Latte Monster. 3) Toasted bagels with butter. It sounds simple, but they manage to not mess this up, and when I'm dealing with a hangry hang-over, it's perfect. 4) When it's sunny outside, a small army of aridondack chairs lined up along the brick building welcome you to sit back, crack a book, and start producing some desperately needed vitamin D. Despite these enticing traits, Fiore only clocks in at only three stars. It has potential - I would have trouble arguing that Voxx makes a better latte, and frankly, the location is fairly convenient for my weekend jaunts around the neighborhood or for a great post-Golden Gardens-run cool-down. Frankly, I think the space is more inviting than other cafes that I've reviewed. The problem? It's too small and it's normally crammed with pretentious Seattle moms and their screaming, undisciplined children. My space is constantly invaded, my focus interrupted, and my patience quickly tested when I'm trying to enjoy a latte here. Furthermore, they usually clean the place out of bagels pretty early on. One could argue that I should just wait until it's time for those kids to be in bed, but wait! Fiore closes at 6. SIX! Greenwood/Crown Hill/Ballard is certainly sleepier than the hill, but my god! It's not a nursing home! Seeing as how I generally work until 6 or later and face at least 45 minutes by bike to get home, this fails to help me in any way whatsoever. This turns Fiore into a weekend indulgence and by the time the moms and kids have retired on Saturdays to do whatever it is that they do, I'm drinking bourbon instead of coffee. Long story made short: go on a sunny day, say yes to the latte, say yes to the sevilla mocha if you're in the mood for something sweeter, say yes to the toasted bagel with butter. Just make sure to get it early, get it to go, and mentally tell the hostile baristas to stuff it while you smile sweetly and forget to tip. read more

We stopped through here on Thanksgiving while we were at the Turkey Trot and we loved everything about it. It was decorated great and had the perfect atmosphere. The coffee was delicious, I had pumpkin and my husband had the egg nog. We also tried a blueberry gluten free muffin which was excellent. They had a super cute little outdoor area that would be great when it is warmer. read more
