Cafe Greco was amazing! My husband and I visited Santa Fe for Christmas and found ourselves frequenting Cafe Greco throughout our trip. We live in the South, so good New Mexican food is VERY hard to come across. Whether it was red and green chili breakfast burritos or Chef Cindy's famous tamales, we found ourselves in "food bliss"! For such a small space, the service was exemplary and our food was extremely fresh! On Christmas Eve, we participated in the Canyon Road Farolito Walk. We were excited to find Chef Cindy and her staff serving up fresh tamales, pesole and hot cocoa outside of Cafe Greco. There was a gentleman playing Christmas songs on the patio as well. We are definitely telling all of our friends and family about this little gem in the heart of Santa Fe. We can't wait to visit again! As they say in Santa Fe, Feliz Navidad! read more

Owners and place are super nice but the food is basic, very bland and poorly prepared and service not very friendly.

Cute place, Terrible experience. Waited an hour for our food which all came out at different times. Had to eat in our jackets because there was no heat. Kids hotdog meal was over cooked. Entire staff was nonchalant and were wearing winter jackets while they worked. Do not eat here. read more

Service was terrible! 15 minutes to get a menu 1/2 hour to get the food. Ordered a cheeseburger and got a burger with no cheese. Beef tacos were very small with no sour cream and red chili sauce was bland. Couldn't get the server to get the bill and was told to go to the cashier inside. Kind of a captive audience. Outdoor seating was nice with a piano player. That's the only good thing I can say about it. read more

Wow. Could it be any worse. This is a pure counter service place with no table service. To make it even worse, everything was served on cheap plates. Very odd for a high end street like Canyon Road. During a recent visit to show off Canyon Rd., we made a quick stop at Cafe Greco. We mostly needed to sit down for a minute and maybe grab some espresso. I decided to try the frito pie because it is a Santa Fe staple after all. Plus, it's not something I make at home. It was standard. Five and Dime on San Francisco St. has the frito pie market cornered. The staff was very friendly and the drinks were as cold or hot as they should be. Plenty of outside seating for nice days and a couple seating options inside as well. The inside banco area was cleverly decorated with kitschy southwest stuff. I think there was a horse? Then it happened. There was beautifully haunting flamenco guitar and mournful, soul wrenching singing wafting it's way into the eclectically decorated room. It was such a Santa Fe moment. It may have been the most beautiful flamenco solo ever performed in my presence and I have seen Juan Sidi and his company twice. It really completed the day and made it feel special. Until....we were leaving. We gushed compliments at the woman playing guitar on the porch, browsed her CDs and thanked her profusely for sharing her talents. I know it sucks getting the "verbal tip", but we had been shopping all day and didn't have any cash. She said very loudly and repeatedly that we should show our appreciation and pointed towards her tip bowl. Then she even got angry when we didn't leave a tip. Bad attitude. For me, it left a bad taste in my mouth. That is more than enough for me not to go back. The entertainment hosted by the establishment is a reflection of itself. So, I won't be going back. My partner and I came in today - 4th of July - and there was no host/hostess to seat us at the host podium. We waited and waited... no one came. I went in to the restaurant and found a server who told me that they would be with us in a few minutes, so we waited some more. While we waited, the customers that were already seated were waiving their arms in the air trying to get servers to come to their table... they waived a lot... so after us hanging out for 10 minutes wo being seated we finally just left. Have been wanting to try this place for quite awhile... we are from Santa Fe. I suppose We will just have to forget it. BTW: you weren't that busy. I looked around and there were ppl there, but most tables were open so I'm not sure why you refused to seat my partner and I. Took me weeks to get my partner to go with me to try Caffe Greco, so I'm pissed that after all that effort we weren't even seated. read more

Touring Canyon Road with a multigenerational crowd can be a challenge. So when a gallery owner mentioned this place as something for everyone we checked it out. A tall man with a turquoise bolo hurried us to a table while we looked at the order at the counter menu so we were kind of stuck. He guaranteed us a great meal or he'd pay for it. I should have taken him up on his offer. It's probably a fine place for a cup of coffee and the sandwiches at the next table looked good but the New Mexican fare left much to be desired. They were out of red chile and salsa and potatoes. The burritos had nothing with them -- just a $9 burrito! And the Frito pie -- well we've had better. I should have told the guy when he asked "how was your food" but just wasn't worth the confrontation. Live and learn. At least my daughter liked her chicken quesadilla and flat Italian soda. read more

Zero stars is not an option here, or I'd give exactly this for the current state of affairs at Caffe Greco. Caffe Greco was GREAT when Ray was the chef. Then -- we hear -- Ray had a fall accident and isn't the chef any longer. My huevos rancheros this morning had a hint of weak, bad chile upon it, no hashed browns (as promised), a hint of beans, was there a hint of cheese? There was no corn tortilla under it, as promised. Just some eggs and a hint of flavor upon them. It was all so bad that I told the owner that it was so bad that we should not even have to pay for it. But we were forced to pay for it anyway. We ate it only because we had waited for it and were very hungry for a late breakfast. Our local discount was not honored. It was just bad, bad, bad. Stay away from this place! My party of three all felt we had been robbed. read more

Cute little breakfast/lunch place on Canyon road. We almost walked away as the entire left side of the building was closed up. Around the corner my husband found the open coffee shop side, thank goodness. Decent menu for breakfast and lunch. Hubby had the smothered Christmas breakfast burrito with ham- off the bone kind. Not listed on the menu they also have bagels and cream cheese as well as a bagel breakfast sandwich which I ordered. Both of us enjoyed our breakfast. My side of salsa was fresh and delicious. Good specialty coffee options. Soy milk available. They have inside seating in cozy rooms with lots of artwork. Building Used to be a home. Also good patio seating shaded by trees. This quirky restaurant is in a great location on Canyon Road. The outdoor seating was very nice although the metal chairs could use some pads. We had music to enhance the very tasty enchiladas that came with chili sauce (spicy) instead of the red sauce we get in California. The corn posole was a new food which was very good. Seems like a simple enough dish to get right, but have had it elsewhere recently and besides soggy Fritos, it just wasn't tasty. My husband had the beef burrito, again outstanding! And who knew that they make their fruit pies in-house each morning!?! Save room, because they really are delicious. Blueberry, apple and cherry - you'll be happy with any of them! Came into town for a weekend in Santa Fe. Because of the great location and patio, we thought this would be a great place to dine. Foreshadowing: no locals knew of the place. That was clue number one. Clue number two: I've never heard of a Mexican restaurant not serving margaritas, which alongside our food was our end goal. But, we were here and we submitted to the peer pressure of a "Wine Margarita." Clue number three: The food was sub par at best. Clue number four: Food arrived at separate times. My friends food arrived so late that she went home to make a sandwich instead. There are other places in town. Choose wisely and follow the clues. Totally awful. We went in and were told to sit anywhere. The server? didn't even hand us menus. We had to grab them ourselves. We waited for 15 minutes, no water, no greeting. When we checked to see what was going on, the same server? said that we should have told him we were there. Did he not realize that when we came in? Ordered two of the house special drinks....which were truly awful tasting. They did replace one with a free margarita though, which was nice. The second one I didn't bother reporting nor did I drink it. Which should be a tip off to an alert staff that somethings wrong. But, no! The food was pretty nondescript. If that's really what traditional New Mexico food tastes like, then maybe we expected too much, but I doubt it. Lastly, the service was nutty. We had at least 3 or 4 different people that could have been our waiter. We literally couldn't tell. Then another 15 for a waiter to hand me a menu. After 40 mins I got my food, which was good. We were drawn to this cafe because of the woman, Lisette, who was playing her guitar and singing on the patio. She was excellent. We had a great table right along Canyon Road. Perfect weather and very friendly waiter. The food, however, was not nearly as spectacular as we had hoped. The tacos were just so-so and the margarita was also just so-so. It is not a good sign when you have to smother your food in hot sauce to give it flavor. Maybe there are other items on the menu that would have been a better choice. read more

Hands down one of the best meals we've had in New Mexico. I got the chalupas and they were super tasty and just the right size. My husband got the Rueben, which he tends to get at most places we go and first bite in proclaimed " best Rueben I have ever had!" Also bonus on the Rueben, it was large and didn't fall apart. We ordered guacamole and chips - it was a tiny ramekin of guac (store bought) and a huge amount of chips that were also store bought. For $13!!! They also messed up our order. If you do eat here - the sopapilla is OK and the chili is pretty good. You can definitely split and still have a lot of food. But stay away from the guac and chips! read more
