In the early 1970s, my dad would take us to Santa Fe once a year and the Pink Adobe was THE place we always had at least one dinner! It was my first experience with shrimp scampi and so many Tex Mex flavors. Sadly we moved from Colorado to Michigan and those yearly trips ended. In 2012 when my youngest was graduating high school, I decided to "go back home" and we traveled from Michigan to California for her senior trip. Unfortunately so much had changed EXCEPT for the exceptional food at the Pink Adobe! Not much beyond the pricing has changed as it is still in the same pink Adobe building. My shrimp scampi and other delicious items we ordered was the only experience from my childhood that stood the test of time! Mama Rosalea's menu has many of the old standards plus some newer menu items that retain the special touch of the current chef. It was beyond remarkable! From the stellar servers who treat you like family to the "comida deliciosa" it took me back decades to how both service and restaurant food was before! EXCELLENTE! The Pink Adobe isn't cheap but worth EVERY PENNY, while so much of Santa Fe has changed since the 70s with commercialization and invasion of the hipsters? It was wonderful to see at least here, things are still very much old school! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Ps: if you can find "Cooking with a Silver Spoon" on eBay BUY it! Man, talk about having gone downhill. They changed the menu and, I think, ownership. The "organic chicken" dish was awful. Dried out and had a weak red paste rubbed on it. Tasted bland and weird, frankly. My guest's dishes were also marginal at best. The worst was, based on a picture on Yelp of their "Rosalee's Apple Pie", I decided to order one for the table. What was served was probably the worst example of a small apple tart in a ceramic dish owith weak vanilla ice cream. Not pie. Not even close. I told the server and showed him the picture. He just shrugged and said, "yeah the menu is different now". This thing was $18, I handed it back to the server and said we weren't going to eat it and to please remove from the tab. Trying a recommendation from a friend in the art business in SFE, and The Pink Adobe didn't disappoint. Service staff was on the ball for a Saturday night on the popular patio...busy, busy, busy! Ordering a bottle of Rosé, the wine steward knew the assignment...good knowledge and training! Our server asked the right questions and seemed very well-versed in menu items, descriptions and starter recommendations. I had a Beet Salad-wonderfully sweet, creamy and acidic. My companions had Shishitos Locos and Clams Lucifer---both excellent with spiciness and richness--to stimulate taste buds. For entrees, we had a Plato Mexicano with Carne Asada, an Enchilada Bar with Chicken Tinga, and I had a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake for my entree. All were presented well, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. To finish off the night, we selected the Raspberry Tres Leches Cake, Chocolate Lava Cake and a Cappuccino for the lady. Won't return - I do NOT like lying. Location: 4 Ambience: 4 Food: 2 Service: 0 First, their front desk was un-manned at 5:09. A couple before us was waiting. We waited for a little while, I then went in to look for a hostess. Shortly a woman with a ponytail, and a man with eye glasses showed up to work. Don't believe the front desk hostess's claim that "that table is reserved". 5pm on a Tuesday, the out door section is empty (inside isn't packed either). When she sat us under the sun, I asked immediately that can we please have a table under the shade, like that one under the umbrella. "Oh that table is reserved." When I made reservation, I only indicated outdoor, not sure they've a place for the dinner to indicate exactly which table. Sitting under the sun is uncomfortable, so I got up and asked one more time, for a table before a lovely tile mosaic with tiny fountain. "Oh that table is reserved." When we about to leave, she offered the first table I pointed at. Shortly after, a couple was seated at the table before tile mosaic with tiny fountain. To be accurate, I did ask them if they've reserved this specific table. "No." Why would she lie: despise Irene which is totally ok, or Chinese or people of color (I've experienced this a few times prior...) which is... let's stop here. They use Riedel glasses, which is nice - seems everyone in Santa Fe uses Riedel. I've Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc - the vineyard we visited in 2015 - it's as usual, very good. Food - we've - duck: on the sweet side - Jetty Jack: like the crispy fried skin Both entries look chunky, large portion, homey, nothing 'fine' about it. They claim themselves as New Mexican, whichever that means, but I need to add salt and pepper to add some tastes for both entries. We were in town for just 1 night in Santa Fe and I am so glad we had our dinner here! We had a reservation for 8:15 on a Thursday night but they were able to seat us early no problem. We sat outside near a fountain and loved the overall ambiance. We each got a glass of wine and stated with the Wild Mushroom Tetela - HIGHLY recommend! For my main I really enjoyed my cheese enchilada, it was perfect. My boyfriend got the beef tenderloin and loved it as well. Amazing mexican meal and loved the ambiance! Got in after the remodel. Had a Roselea cocktail. I normally wouldn't get a fruit cocktail but this was very good. Sat outside. Cool but not cold and really pleasant. Ordered a branzino, served tail on, with a corn and lime sauce. It was among the best fish I've had, including the Commanders Palace in New Orleans. Just outstanding. They're famous for an apple pie dessert so I tried it. I've had better desserts but it was still good. All in all, well worth the money!!! read more

we got a reservation in the outdoor seating which is nice with live band playing until around 8pm. but we were told that we can't order bar menu in the garden but if we sit at the bar table we can order food from bar menu and restaurant menu too. which is strange doesnt make sense they are literally 5 ft away in the same courtyard. The service was good, staffs are friendly but they seem overwhelmed by the amount of customers. sometimes slow in refilling water, but overall took really good care of us. The clam lucifer is such a surprised. no wonder it's award winning, it's a chowder that i had never tasted before, it's pretty spicy with a good amount of shell on clams in it. the baguettes are toasted perfectly with good flavor to dip in the chowder. for main i had the duck confit , which is basically a duck Enchiladas with red mole on top . it's flavorful but i wish i knew its presented as enchilada. There are some really good cocktails here too. 4-6pm Tuesday to Sunday are happy hour , 15% food discount and some wine and beer special price too. read more

Decent New Mexican food. We visited The Pink Adobe on a Friday night, and it was busy, but there were tables available. The restaurant features the adobe architecture typical of the New Mexico region. I ordered the silver coin margarita to drink, the Santa Fe traditional enchiladas as a main, and tortilla chips with three dips as a starter. The margarita was tart but had a good flavor. The enchiladas were pretty tasty and especially the bites with cheese. The first set of tortilla chips were mostly crumbs, so we asked for more and those chips were strangely tough and thick. The guacamole was standard and the salsa and queso dip were a bit worse than usual. Overall, I had a decent experience at The Pink Adobe, but I think there are better options for New Mexican food in Santa Fe. read more

I started with the Madre Corn Bisque ($15). It was sinful. My wife had the Pecos Caesar Salad ($14)...a Mexican version of the famous salad. I had a taste and it was great. My entree was a "traditional" Cheese Enchilada ($25) which was huge and filling. My wife chose the Fire Roasted Chile Relleno (32)...another big dish with big flavors. Absolutely forgot to take food pictures because it was too yummy to not dive in! The drinks were also amazing, very well balanced and we love some Dos Hombres mezcal. The service was amazing and super quick. Always on top of our water and food. I ordered the lamb shank and it was so tender that it was falling off the bone. We are here tonight, knowing it was under new ownership. Huge mistake; the Pink Adobe we used to know and love is dead. Our waitress, Rubia is lovely and has waited on us in the past. The food took forever to come out, it was average and the prices on the new menu are high. Luis is the new manager from Mexico. He's going to have to learn that people here aren't going to wait over an hour to get their food. They asked us to be patient and come back, not going to happen, this is an untenable situation. We had a reservation at the Pink Adobe's opening dinner hour. When we got to there, the patio was practically empty and the hostess seated us in the worst possible spot under the sun. Okay fine. We asked for a table that had some shade and were met with cold indifference. When we asked a second and third time, we finally got moved to a better spot but by that point we should've just left, because the rest of the experience was no better. Absolutely loved our dinner here. We made reservations for New Year's Day and our meal was excellent. We even scored a table next to the fireplace...always my favorite. The staff was attentive, even tough they were probably exhausted from the holiday crowd. Reservations are a must here, and it's worth the wait. My partner had the Poulet Morango and I had the Madre Corn Bisque [chile, mezcal crema, basil pesto, popcorn] and Pink Adobe salad [garden salad]. The entire meal was delicious. The corn bisque was a great melding of flavors, creamy and just warm enough. I will definitely order this again! We wrapped up dinner with the delicious apple pie. When leaving, we were surprised to see a man take out his phone, turn the flashlight on, pull a chair away from the wall and begin scanning the floor. When we asked him why, he explained that the place is cleaned well every evening, but by morning there is dirt and fresh footprints on thw floor, particularly by this one table. Several ghost stories followed and a appreciation for the history of the place. I can't wait to return! I hope it's chilly out and that we get to sit by the fireplace again. This was a nice place. This restaurant is owned by The Inn of the Five Graces. I think that explains a little bit about the pricing. I agree it is expensive. That's why I didn't give it a 5 star review because I'm not sure it's worth the price but the food is good and we had good service. I got the Enchilada Bar ($22) and my wife got the Grilled Salmon ($38). We also got the Chips and Salsa with Queso ($20). I was disappointed with the portion size for what we paid. Way too much for what you get. I would not recommend getting it. Save the $20. Lastly I got a Habenerita ($16). It's a margarita with Habanero. They might say it's not too spicy but it's pretty spicy. If you're not good with spice, better to choose a different one. I think if I had it to do over again, I'd save the $36 and not get the drink and chips. Food wise I really liked my enchiladas. Probably the best value on the menu. My wife liked her salmon as well. It was just a little pricey. Service wise we were served by one of the bartenders and he was very nice so we had no problems there. Parking wise, it's downtown Santa Fe so it's always gonna be a bit of a challenge but you already know that if you're in that area. read more

Well my expectations was set super high for this place and I'm sad it didn't to what I was suppose to expect. A lady on the slopes today was going on about how amazing it was when she came 2 years ago and my husband was beyond obessed with this place from 2 years ago and it just felt short. Husband got the Plato Mexicano it wasn't anything like what he got 2 years ago but it was fabulous. If u don't like any spicy do not get the chile part of the dish it's pretty spicy. I loved it but spouse didn't. Ok so super out of left field my kiddos mac and cheese was FANTASTIC! I took the tortillas from my dish and dipped it in his meal and omg it was amazing. Get the kiddie mac and cheese it's homemade cheese sauce and it's filling and delicious. Dessert we got the apple pie and scoop of chocolate ice cream but came vanilla bean instead. Dessert is fantastic eat dessert first in my opinion. The apple pie is open faced with a huge scoop of ice cream. Overall my food wasn't the best and service was a bit short but the hostess was amazing and the wait staff helping the server were outstanding. However, we had to send the steak back 3 times in order to get medium well as it was served completely raw in the center. The zucchini fries were so awful we sent them back after only 1 bite and they still charged us for them! The desserts were awful and not as described. Tonight for the first time in 30 years I returned to the Pink Adobe for Thanksgiving Dinner. They did have a Thanksgiving Menu but we opted for the regular menu. Started off with Lucifer Clams and added shrimp at the suggestion of Rubia, our waitress. The sauce was spicy and delicious and the shrimp and clams were outstanding. A much appreciated recommendation and exactly what we wanted on a cold evening. I had Steak Dunigan and my wife had the salmon. Both entrees were perfectly prepared as requested and seasoned appropriately. The toppings on my steak (mushrooms and green chile) made it an absolute home run. I ordered a side of red chile to spread on my crispy golden fried potato. So incredibly good and satisfying. My wife ordered churros for desert an I ordered the apple pie. My pie was a bit dry for my liking but the churros were so tasty. Our table was in the newer dining room and our table was so comfortable and the chairs were perfect. When Rubia wasn't taking care of us, several of the other staff were doting over us. Great experience, incredible food and simply the best service I have had this year! While visiting New Mexico, I went to The Pink Adobe to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and had high expectations after hearing such great things but it was unfortunately a HUGE let down! We were sat at a great table and we felt like we were going to have a great romantic night, but inside we heard nothing. There was no music playing...actually not nothing, we could here the clambering of pots and pans in the kitchen throughout our whole meal. We ordered drinks that were essentially just mixers and a cup of ice. They were flavorful but lacking alcohol. We then got the Caesar salad and paid and extra $10 for chicken which had MAYBE one shred of cold, grilled chicken and the the salad was equivalent to the bags you get at grocery store... We also got the whole artichoke. It said it came "chilled" but it was boarderline frozen and impossible to eat. Finally, we got the special tuna. It came on uncooked rice, rock hard carrots, and the chewiest tuna ever for a nice $38. Not all restauraunts are great, and unfortunately you have to try them to figure these things out. Bummer because it put a huge damper on our special night. Would not recommend this spot! read more
