This is an updated review of the Cafe 100 in Bellevue about 1 mile from the Loveless Cafe (and across from the Kroger). It is in the location the old Bria restaurant sat, although you will not recognize the place, even if you routinely went there when it was Bria. Cafe 100 is a new Italian concept owned by Keith Simpkins and his wife Amy Marsalis Simpkins (Amy Marsalis once worked on News Channel 5). Talking to Keith, the idea was opening something with reasonably priced finer dining that had a more neighborhood cafe type of feel. I think he nailed the atmosphere. From his vintage flags and open airy seating area (and a nice custom bar), it does feel a bit like an upscale cheers. Steve is pictured in the bar picture along with the manager (behind the bar) and one of his lead waitresses. In the pictures, I have my first visit (updated review), which was the tomahawk pork chop, which is covered with a blackberry bourbon glaze. I have also included the bread served with every meal and the biscuit donuts. On a return trip, I was with a friend and we both got the cast iron steak (he chose the filet, I chose the ribeye) and I got a bit of his black cherry tira misu. Review time. Atmosphere is on point for a more casual feeling upscale place. Service was excellent. I think a lot of it comes from how the owners treat the employees, which creates a nice culture that is passed on to the employees. For the part you are most interested in? The food! The pork chop was well cooked. I feel the blackberry bourbon glaze could use a skosh more bourbon to bring out the flavor, but was still a nice addition to the pork chop. The side dish is a mac & cheese with a lot going on. The latest menu appears to be white cheddar, but this version was a mix of cheeses including a pepper jack that has a big pepper bite. It is topped with homemade corncake crumble. Perosonally I thought there was too much going on, although the flavors were nice. How about the steaks? This is, again, almost too much. They have a 35+ day wet aged Filet or a 60+ day dry aged ribeye, so we are talking really good beef. Once you get the rosemary butter (more like rosemary chimichurri when I went) and the mushroooms, it is overwhelming. I would honestly ask for the steak with just a light seasoning and get the other stuff on the side. I substitued crispy Brussels for the potatoes to keep from too much carbs, but had a taste of the smashed potatoes. Both are nicely done. Desserts? The signature biscuit donuts are very nice. Served with a cappucino gelato, these are the bomb. But, the tiramisu is even a step above. If you have already eaten and are in Bellevue thinking "wish I had dessert", this is worth a stop. As a note: I think Chef Steve De Vellis is young and bold and may be trying a bit too hard. There is tons of umami in the meals, which makes it hard to finish, even if you are not completely full. I went home and scraped the stuff off the steak and found slapping it in a hot skillet to quickly reheat, sans the rosemary butter, was a much nicer experience. The original mac & cheese was in the same family, so thinking the menu change to cheddar was due to feedback. I think he has some really awesome ideas that just need a bit of tweaking. Overall impression? I really love the vibe Keith and Amy have created and the way they treat everyone leads to a restaurant where customers feel more like friends. I also think with a bit of restraint, Chef could be a very good chef. I will return at some point, probably after they get more legs under them, as I really enjoyed sitting at the bar and talking to the owners and staff. With a few tweaks, I predict they will have a successful run. read more

Amazing food and service! We came in to try the new fall menu and it didn't disappoint! My favorites were the meatballs, arancini, chicken pot pie and Nutella mousse! You can really tell how much thought and effort they put into all the dishes and everything tasted so fresh! Can't wait to come back and try brunch next! read more

We were greeted by a smiling hostess. We asked to sit outside, it was a lovely evening and they have a nice patio. Within minutes a lovely table was set and ready for us. Keith, the owner, came outside to welcome us to his restaurant. Very personable. We ordered the raw oysters appetizer special, delicious! They serve an amazing focaccia bread! For our main courses we got the ribeye with smashed potatoes, salmon with mushroom risotto, and vegetable Ravi with a side of Nonna's meatballs. Everything was cooked to perfection! Absolutely delicious. The waitress, Maggie, was delightful and our water were kept filled. The atmosphere and vibe was fun and uplifting! I give them 5 stars! read more

My 4 is a tad generous but it's based on the freshness of food and the delightful service. Our server was attentive and helpful. Half the house was full on a Tuesday night. Our drinks were well crafted. The onion topped focaccia was irresistable. (Even the 2nd basket!) Dunked in oil topped with herbs it became a bit complicated in flavor which is the one complaint I'd make. A single flavor is hard to shine when it's muddled in with so many others. The food came quickly. The sign: 'Try our Seabass' was a tease as they were out (at 6). I had them do the Seabass sides/garnish on the salmon and it was tasty. Riper mango would have been nice. My husband ranked his shrimp and grits a 6.5 out of 10. He eats it everywhere so has comparisons he likes better. He did like the coconut encrusted shrimp. The thick grits, not so much. The largest disappointment was the donut dessert. Highly recommended, the round donut (really a fancy hush puppy) was tasty but the ice cream served with it had about 5 too many add ins/flavors. Even the menu description seemed contrary-too many flavors - again - all muddled together. It's nice for Bellevue to have a restaurant with an upscale menu and I suspect they'll fine tune some dishes upon reviews like this. Keep at it!...as the basics were there! I wish I could give this more stars, because the service was impeccable, and the food was great! However, this place is just WAY too overpriced. Two of us literally got 2 appetizers, 2 salads (with just greens, not dinner-sized), and two cocktails. That's it. And the bill with tip was $133.00! I'm glad Bellevue has a nice non-chain restaurant (finally) with good food, but I'm afraid this place won't last if they don't do something about the prices. First time dining on Friday. Just wonderful experience. Reservation at 5:00 PM. Seated immediately. Casual atmosphere and white table cloth. Excellent focaccia bread and olive oil brought to the table as soon as we sat down ( I just had that feeling that we were in for great experience) Our server was just right. Really want to love this restaurant but they are making it hard! Been twice to Sunday brunch and both times I've left very disappointed. They speak highly of their pastries and desserts so we started with a cinnamon roll. Nice presentation in its own individual dish, but its dough was a bit dry. They also bring complementary biscuits - these were so dry they were barely edible. I managed to get half a biscuit down after smothering it with butter and jam. Didn't bother eating more than half a biscuit- not worth the calories. My wife ordered Southern Benedict ( fried green tomatoes) and I ordered a steak benedict. Our eggs came out rock hard- nowhere close to poached. We called for new eggs and they brought out 4 new under poached eggs on a plate - no sauce etc. I asked for some more sauce to complete the dish and rebuild it myself and they brought the wrong sauce. Oh well, I gave up and ate it. Steak was paper thin and overcooked as well. If you are paying $26 for a dish you expect way better than this. Our total bill was $78. Wish we had gone to Cracker Barrel! They are trying way too hard to have overly complicated dishes which are a bit over the top and not executed properly. I travel for a living and have eaten all over the world and love a complex dish - but they just aren't pulling it off here. Hope they start to simplify things a bit and focus on execution. Had dinner there once and it was executed better. May give them another chance for dinner but never again for Sunday brunch. read more

We live in the area and desperately need some quality dining. We were excited to try this place, but we were sadly disappointed. And expecting great food but gravely disappointed with not only the quality of the entrees but my husband ordered the pork chop that was way over cooked and tough and hard to eat for $40 and I had a kale salad with crab cakes that were really like were really more the size of small hush puppies!!! Lol They were way too salty and too lemony! Couldn't taste the crab in them or even see any! Ugh! But the best item part of the meal was the focaccia table bread! the food is way to extreme flavors you have never had straight from the Forrest weird herbs and spices and just overall odd some of the food is good but majority isn't. It's at least 1 hour and 30 minute wait for food. The staff are good but a very understaffed establishment. if u want to come for a pastry or a good bakery this is the place very eye appealing pastry. TERRIBLE service and subpar food: The ambience was okay, besides the sick waitress coughing on me. But the presentation of the dishes was misleadingly appealing. The eggs in purgatory paired with cheese grits (I guess that's close enough to the promised polenta...) we're EXTREMELY SALTY, and I'm not a super picky eater, I was actually pretty hungry and tried to stick it out but I knew if I continued I'd give myself pre-hypertension from the mountain of salt that was dumped into the food! When the waitress asked how it was and I was honest with her about the salt, she said she'd talk to the cook, only to come back and say that they can't make it any differently and in fact EVERYTHING on the menu would be that salty unless I ordered pancakes or French toast. It seemed like she didn't want to wait tables and wanted me out the door, but I tried again with the Grandfather breakfast plate (like a fool) and was serve STALE HARD bacon, not well done but STALE as if it had been cooked several hours ago. I absolutely love this place and now it's starting to be summer. Great food the ambience inside inside and outside it's beautiful.

We've lived in this area for 17 years and we're excited to see something else go into this location. We went for lunch and arrived just before noon. The pastries lined up on the bar looked great. I didn't really get the decor. The table settings looked great with white tablecloths. On one wall there were some British flags, another looked like a western cowboy theme. Mixed in were some Jack Daniels distillery pics and nearby was a NASCAR pic. The temp outside was 48 degrees but for some reason they had the patio door propped open causing it to be extremely cold inside. After going back to the car to put on a sweatshirt and still feeling chilled I asked the server if they could close it and he did. There was only one other table in the restaurant but it still took almost 30 minutes for our two pizzas to arrive. My wife's Day Trippin Pie was fantastic and cooked just right with a semi crispy crust and great flavors. My MeatBall & Ricotta Pie was over-cheesed, under cooked, limp crust and lukewarm toppings. No meatballs, just some shredded meat crumbles. Not good. I tried a couple slices but opted to try my wife's instead. We also had 3-4 gnats flying around our table after the food arrived that was really disappointing. The menu looks great. We'll give it one more try at night and hopefully it will be better but this visit yielded slow service, poorly executed food and a poor atmosphere for $60 after tip. We have been excited to try this new restaurant, and the food was delicious! The service was a bit lacking, unfortunately. We waited for 45 minutes for our drinks, and water was not refilled during that time. We were sat at 5:50, and wanted to order an appetizer that was available during happy hour until 6, but the server didn't come by until after 6 and we were unable to order the appetizer we wanted. The entrees were tasty, but one came out piping hot and fresh from the kitchen, while the other was lukewarm and had been sitting for a while waiting. Not sure if we will return. read more

I feel like any poor reviews are from people who have never eaten authentic Italian food or possibly people who are looking for a steakhouse . Me and my partner went to the Cafe 100 on Friday morning because they were the only Cafe open at that time of the morning. So happy we did. The ambience was so calm and the energy was clear. Steven the Executive Chef was the one who came to greet us and we clicked immediately. He is open and wanted to make sure we were well taken care of and we were. He helped us choose our omelets and mine was delicious as was my wife's. I like a little heat and she does not so his advice was bang right. I was a little disappointed that my dessert tasted lovely as raspberry and chocolate do but it was a little dry. The portions were generous and my wife did not flinch when the bill came so it must have been reasonable. So,we will definitely be back. Yummy. read more

I'll start by saying we have eaten at Cafe100 several times prior to writing this review and each of those nights (which weren't holidays) the food, service, everything was phenomenal. But last nights meal was so bad, its completely changed our minds on how we feel about this restaurant. We booked reservations for valentines dinner weeks prior to. The last time we ate at the restaurant they sat us at the chef's table which overlooked the kitchen and being the foodies we are, we loved having the view of the kitchen and the added privacy of that area so when we made reservations we specifically requested and even called the restaurant and confirmed they had our reservation and that we would be at the chef's table. The night of, we arrive at the restaurant at 6:15, 15 minutes prior to our reservations. We're told the table isn't ready yet but they have us checked in and we take 5 steps over to the bar area and each grab a cocktail and wait there...for over an hour... A little after 7:30, we see the couple who had been sitting at the chef's table pay out and leave so we ask for our check at the bar in anticipation of finally being seated. Then we see someone else seated at that table. We make eye contact with the hostess and she immediately apologizes and says she will get us at the next available table. We're sat at a table in the main dining room which is packed, so we now are starving, its been an hour past time for our reservations and we're at a table that's packed in between others where all of us can hear one another's conversations. We order a bottle of wine and as soon as the waiter is ready to take our order we each give our full order from the Valentines prix-fixe menu and are hoping this night turns around. The bread was fantastic, the wine was great, the whipped ricotta was amazing, and everything else that followed was absolutely terrible. The bruschetta was all charred red onion, which again, this is Valentines Day, a mouth full of red onion isn't what we're going for. Fairly certain they had run out of romaine lettuce and the Caesar salad was just a bowl of radicchio, which had a bunch of the hearts in it, no croutons, no added anything, just radicchio and was just inedible. Then the entrees, I ordered the aglio e olio with chicken and my fiancé ordered the salmon. The salmon tasted and had texture like it was frozen and then overcooked. It was very dry and bland. For the aglio e olio, was told they had run out of chicken so I opted for shrimp. Once again, I'm pretty sure they ran out of spaghetti, which is what aglio e olio is traditionally made with, and they brought out a version with bucatini, which was a first for me. The pasta was so undercooked that for the rest of the night I was picking out dried pasta from my teeth. At this point its nine o'clock, and we're just ready to go home. So we ask for the desserts to be boxed up, they did bring us a complimentary glass of champagne which was lovely and they discounted the pasta by 40%. It was just a 100% let down. We both were so excited for our meal and the experience and couldn't have been let down more. Again, we have been before and everything was fantastic. I feel like they could have done two seating times and they would have been able to pull off an amazing night for all. Instead they tried to do too much with 3 seating's and it was a disaster. My bill by the end, with discounted food, was still $220. For $220 for two people, you can get a whole heck of a lot better of an experience at a number of other restaurants in Nashville. If you're looking at eating here, do it on a normal night, not a holiday. Absolute disaster of an evening and we couldn't have been more disappointed. read more

Tried this place based on good reviews on Nextdoor, and wow, it did not disappoint! The service was friendly and warm, the food was flavorful and beautifully presented, and the wine was cold and plentiful. I had the gnocchi bolognese - it was out of this world! So flavorful with a touch of spice. My husband had the ribeye, which was dry aged and beautifully marbled. The homemade focaccia was absolutely delicious! We will definitely return. read more

Amy & Keith have put together an AMAZING team of talented craftsmen to bring Cafe 100 to a vibrant existence! The cocktails are crafted wonderfully and the cuisine...oh my the cuisine!!! The food is off the chart delicious! My bar for an outstanding restaurant is the shrimp and grits. Charleston has always had my heart with this dish. That changed last night as I tasted the combination of flavorful, fresh shrimp, delightful grits and amazing herbs, spices and trinity that made this dish my favorite, hands down! My husband decided on the burger. Yet again, Chef did it right...my husband said it's the best burger he's ever had...and that's saying A LOT. The bbq aioli was the perfect touch to marry all the flavors. It made a tremendous dipping sauce for the French fries, too! Remember to save room for desert! Chefs specialty, the Biscuit Donuts are a next level experience! If you're new to the area and looking for a wonderful meal, a tried and true native looking for something amazing and unique it a transplant, like me, who enjoys a robust food scene, you have to put Cafe 100 in your immediate list. We were a little disappointed with our experience at Cafe 100. The waitress was amazing, very efficient and attentive. However, the poor girl was the only one working the entire dining room (with help of support staff). It was an absurd amount of tables for one person to manage. The food was ok - definitely not the standard I would have expected given the very high menu prices. I had the filet which was not bad, however it was so heavily seasoned I was chugging water all night. And it had a ton of raw chopped rosemary for garnish which was super unpleasant to chew on and very overpowering (and I like rosemary). Our calamari was also fried into one giant clump that was impossible to separate. There was something off with the focaccia they brought to the table too. It had a funky taste of wine. I think something might have been wrong with it. The biggest disappointment was that everyone in our party went home and had a stomach ache the rest of the night. Something was definitely not right.. Lastly, unrelated to the food - the overall decor and ambiance make no sense. There is no cohesiveness with the cuisine and decor. It looks like someone with too much money opened a restaurant "for fun" without having any real culinary or restaurant experience. Overall just very disappointed with the entire experience considering our bill was so high, and there are much more affordable places in Nashville with way better food. read more

First time visiting, came early & sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive & great service. Good wine selections. The food was good but, not so good for the price. The bread was completely soaked in olive oil which made it hard to eat. The flavors of it were wonderful, just wished they'd skipped soaking it in olive oil since they also served it with more oil for dipping. We had the muscles app, which was had more filler than muscles. The meatball app had 2 tiny meatballs which were just ok & served with the same veggie filler that came with the muscles on top of some really nice polenta. It's no secret that Bellevue has long lacked quality restaurant options. Café 100 has very well changed my opinion. This restaurant has all the makings to become the cornerstone of Bellevue dining. If you live in the area, you've likely driven by the place hundreds of times. You noticed when the front awning changed from red to green, and wondered what the unassumingly named Café 100 would become. It is time for you to go find out for yourself! The atmosphere is understated. There are white tablecloths, but with a more local feel. The bar looks perfect for popping in for a quick drink. But the food? Oh, let me tell you! We begin with fresh focaccia served with olive oil and assorted herbs. From the first delectable bite, I knew we were in for an excellent meal. Flavorful, the perfect chew in the texture. Everything you could want from a focaccia. We then moved on to the meatball appetizer. Margaret, the general manager, told us how the recipe was a combination of her great-grandmother's and the executive chef's grandmother's recipes. As she put it "there's a lot of love in the meatballs". Family recipes are a funny thing, because sometimes they are only beloved for their familiarity. Not these recipes! The meatballs, out of this world. The sauce, magnificent. And the bed of polenta, perfectly prepared. For entrees, we had the 8oz filet with collard greens, and the burger with pecorino fries. The filet was cooked perfectly in a bath of rosemary butter that really took the steak over the top. I am rarely a fan of collards, but I fully enjoyed them nonetheless. Unexpectedly, the burger was the surprise stand-out of the night. On a menu filled with steaks, pork chops, and salmon, the burger could easily have been an inferior item. Something put at the end of the menu for the person wanting a cheaper bite. This burger, though? It still has me going through my recollection of every other burger i've eaten asking "is this the best burger i've ever had?". Completely stuffed, but a glutton for punishment, we just had to complete the night with a dessert. And it's a good thing we did! The chocolate stout cake was a perfect way to end the meal. A little sweet, balanced perfectly by the richness of the accompanying sauce. And when we had reached the end of our food adventure, we found it difficult to determine our favorite course. Gosh, this is a tough one. I have dined here a couple of times over the past couple of months. The servers are so sweet, but not very knowledgeable about cocktails or entrées. When asking about details on some of the entrées and cocktails, the typical answer was "I don't know." The food is just OK. My last meal here was brunch and the quiche was served lukewarm. Everything was served on such a small plate that I moved some items to my bread plate so that I could eat and not spill onto the table. The toast is plopped on top of the potatoes. I did love the complimentary biscuits and homemade jelly/jam. They are unique and delicious! Water glasses sat empty for a while, and we had to proactively ask for another round of mimosas. Would be good if they didn't put some kind of 'chimichurri' sauce on EVERYTHING. The 'sauce' would have been great on fajitas... but not on salmon that was already seasoned with lemon and garlic... Same with the ribeye.... this 'chimichurri' sauce....? read more
