Since this was our first time here, we wanted to try a pasta and a pizza that we shared (and we had some leftover for a snack later) Pinsa Maleducata - Tomato sauce, Fontina cheese, Pancetta (Italian Bacon) & Onion Jam (yum!) Gnocchi Crema Di Gorgonzola- Pecorino & Roasted with Pistacchios on top. Both were delicious, the Gnocchi was light, exactly how it should be and the Gorgonzola-Pecorino creme sauce was was smooth and perfectly made. We couldn't resist a good finish, so we split a Tiramisu - Mascarpone cream & Coffee lady finger cookies topped with cocoa powder. I had an espresso & my wife opted for a cappuccino (even though it was after 11am... shh, don't tell anyone). The server was attentive & helpful and we enjoyed the food. We were actually between the normal lunch & dinner shift, so the restaurant was not too busy. We opted to sit outside which was a little noisy from the road traffic at that hour, I did take a look inside and at the kitchen area. On our next trip here, we will be sitting inside and try some of their wine, and other offerings. Both the Gnocchi and the Pizza were very good, and we look forward to our next visit. read more

Absolutely incredible food, but the vibe is a little odd. My friend and I stopped by here to grab dinner during the week, and we were sat immediately. The staff here are super friendly, and gave us great recommendations once we were seated. The restaurant is semi-full service. You are sat at a table, but you have the menu online and can only order online. At that point I'd rather just take it to-go. My friend's phone was dead, so we also had to pass my phone back and forth to order. There are a couple of servers taking care of all of the tables once the orders are ready, so it feels like the restaurant is trying to get away with paying less people. I ordered the nonna paula, added pancetta to it, and made it spicy. The sauce was absolutely incredible. It was smooth, nutty, and creamy, and the house-made pasta was cooked perfectly. I wish their version of making it spicy didn't also make it more oily; it also didn't really add any kick to it. I'd definitely order to-go, but I'm not sure if I'd dine-in here again. read more

DISCLAIMER: Food was 5 star worthy, our service was good too, but they do things non traditionally here, and not in a good way... We tried to make a reservation for valentines day, only to find out after getting directed to other websites that they do t take reservations. Upon entering, we see placards on tables saying "reserved for valentines day".... um what? We tried that... They Seated us noy by ourselves at our own table, but right next to 2 strangers at a larger table.... Are you joking? I didnt ask for this! A valentines day meal into cant even have in private with my lady, we had to share our conversations with the two people right next to us. This was a HUGE turnoff. Upon bringing us our water pitcher, they brought out paper cups for us. If im paying $18 for a pasta dish, I don't want a paper cup for my water, I want a glass, thank you very much. But apparently thats too much for them to do. If youre saying you specialize in authentic Italian cuisine, but your salt and pepper shakers are pretty ground, and not the twist to grind ones, you're contradicting your claims... The 3rd drawback was their digital menus. Any place that has a digital menu is always a red flag. Not only do you order online but you pay there too, which is whatever I guess, but just odd. That being said, our food was great, the carbonara pazza was better than the amatriciana in my opinion but both were very good! The pinsa sticks were also wonderful, especially when using their olive oil soaked with hot pepper flakes and a little salt on top. If you're in Nashville and love fresh pasta, you have to check out PennePazze! It's located inside the super cool L&L Market, which is such a fun spot on its own with tons of other shops and restaurants to explore. When we got there, they told us the wait would be about 45 minutes, so we decided to wander around the market. To our surprise, they called us over in just 15 minutes! Once we sat down, we had a great view of the kitchen. They have glass panels so you can actually watch them making the fresh pasta right in front of you. There's no traditional waiter, you just scan a QR code to order and pay, and everything moves really quickly and smoothly. I ordered the Nonna Paula pesto pasta and it was SO GOOD. Thankful we knew someone who had been here and they recommended it and guided us in. Tucked in a building with several other businesses, at night, it's pretty unassuming. Even after entering, it's pretty simple. We took a seat and our server let us know how to access the menu (QR) and order (online). Pastas are home made, wines are Italian and imported, yada, yada. So we order, food begins arriving. My one negative was the food arrived as it was ready which meant not at the same time so a bit awkward. (expect that with Tapis but not when all get an entree). I ordered the Pannini Caprese. Wonderful bread! Great flavor, and it is a lot of meal! Husband had the AMATRICIANA and that pasta was amazing! The food is excellent, best tasting pizza this side of Eufala, Oklahoma! Service was great, but they weren't very busy; we were the early dinner "crowd". Order with your phone using a QR code, needed some instructions for that part. Not really intuitive. The place considers itself Italian, but the interior is starkly modern; no vineyard pictures on the walls, no Italian maps, no Italian sayings or slogans. Uncomfortable chairs for a better turnover. The taste was decent but the texture was more like soup. Not sure why there was so much moisture on top of the pizza but it was dripping water when i picked it up. This was our first time visiting a restaurant with the type of ordering process used here and not a huge fan. While it is a sit down restaurant, you do not have a wait person to take your order, all orders are done with your phone. Given the type of menu they have, I feel it does a disservice to the restaurant by not having someone to explain some the details about menu items. Even when a server brought something to the table, it was rushed and impersonal. With all of that said, the food was outstanding and helped to redeem for the odd ordering process. In a town where people claim to have good pasta, and incredibly under deliver many times, leaving one incredibly pissed off, and not satisfied, as well as hating the establishment and dragging it into the mud because of how badly and how much money you spent for a piss poor representation of what Italian food could be.......this place excels and more ways than you can imagine this food really left you with a very satisfying conclusion meaning that you don't have to feel like you left a 72 hour buffet having to crap yourself something silly at the end of the night. This food and the service and the integrity behind it was next to none and our waitress Alley was incredibly helpful and even after the meal was done the owner came and offered his thank you for coming to his establishment, I was with two beautiful ladies, and they felt the same as I did, and boy oh boy as a snob of pasta and someone that has so much integrity when cooking in ways that would be arguably better than your establishment, bowed down to the fact that your food was incredible and I would come back with these two beautiful ladies time and time again and sing your praises. Congrats on the new model opening up in Germantown and we want to thank you for not sucking because sucking sucks when you are trying to eat and spend money like 100 bucks or so and feeling like you wasted your money, I'm tickled that there's no way I felt like I wasted my money here, we felt satisfied it was incredible so good for you. I was a little hesitant to try this place at first because the pictures on their website looked pretty generic, but I was completely fooled once I actually had their food. Everything was bursting with flavor and far exceeded my expectations. My husband had the Nonna Paula topped with four cheese, pesto, sun dried tomatoes, confit garlic, and olive oil and it was full of flavor and so satisfying. My kids went for the Carbonara Tagliatelle, a creamy egg yolk sauce pasta topped with crunchy pancetta, and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Pinsa Maila with tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, sausage, and porchetta and added burrata over the top which made it even better. All the pinsas are finished with basil and olive oil and mine was incredible. One of the best parts is that you can add extras to your dishes which makes it so tempting I wanted to try them all. We sat out on the patio which felt private and intimate and it was the perfect setting for a relaxed dinner. The ordering style is interesting since you place your order and pay through a QR code but the staff is still very attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. read more

PennePazze is THE place you want to go when craving pasta and Italian food. Couldn't just pick one entree, so we chose multiple and all shared! The lasagna was really good, but not as great as the Broccoli/4 cheese pasta or the Gnocci (which was my absolute favorite dish of the night). The arugula salad was also very delicious - I could eat that every day! Also, the cannoli's were amazing, but stuffed with chocolate instead of being more traditional. The concept is interesting - you walk in, order at a counter and then seat yourself! They have a TV that shows the orders their working on, and those that are ready to be picked up. A local friend of ours recently told us this was one of the best Italian restaurants in Nashville. After 3 years here, my husband and I finally made it to PennePazze and I can't believe we waited this long! It's located at L&L Market on the first floor, with plenty of parking, which made it very convenient. We sat at a large group table indoors and ended up having it all to ourselves. Gerald, the GM, welcomed us and couldn't have been nicer as he walked us through the menu, the fresh pastas made in-house, and how to order with the QR code. At his suggestion, I went with the Nonna Paula pasta with chicken, and it was honestly the best pesto I've ever had, achingly flavorful! The portion was generous too. My husband ordered the Amatriciana and loved it. Adding a touch of chili oil midway gave it a whole new dimension. We left completely impressed and are already planning our return. Next time, the flatbread is at the top of our list. PennePazze just earned a spot in our date-night rotation! read more

Bummed, but this restaurant just did not deliver quality for me. Stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday. Parking is validated for up to three hours if you visit any L&L market business. Just remember your license plate and then wait to validate when you get to your restaurant/ business - very easy, but a little confusing since you shouldn't scan the QR code where you parked. First - it's a bit confusing to find if you are already in L & L Market. You have to go down some stairs and then you feel like you're in a basement / non restaurant area but the black door with no window actually opens to the restaurant! Tip for the future: Much easier to find this place if you park outside it and just go directly in. The waitress was prompt in seating me inside (it was too hot to sit outside) and she explained how you scan the QR code and order on your phone. I went for one of the pizzas (called Pinsa here, they are going for the native Italian thing). I went for classic flavors of pepperoni with hot honey and also got a bottomless soda to go with it. The sodas are by Stubborn Draft Soda - a craft soda company with classic flavors like Coke and Root Beer and some fun ones like Black Cherry Tarragon and Pineapple Cream Soda. I'm not wild about the stranger flavors (tarragon is overpowering, to me) but the a Coke served me just fine on this visit. My pinsa came rather quickly. No plate provided, just the entire pizza on a serving tray, which was a bit difficult to eat. I like having a dip with my pizza but the waitress was nowhere to be found. Mind you, there was only one other table at the time I came it so it was odd to me she didn't check on me when my food came to make sure all was okay. After almost 10 min, the waitress finally came back over. I asked for ranch for dipping and she told me her chef would be insulted for asking for ranch. It's cool if you don't serve that here, but it was silly to be rude to me, a paying customer about it. I asked for more of the hot honey because the pinsa had very little of it and I was fine with that as a substitute for ranch. She brought it over. Even more hot honey did little to make the pinsa more appetizing. They had put far too much cheese on it and it was falling off the sides and altogether. The pizza dough was rather bland and the whole thing felt like a cheesy, flavorless mess. The pinsa was (unfortunately for me) quite large - ideally shareable between two people, but I could not stomach taking the other half home. When I told the waitress I didn't want a box for my leftovers, she still brought one over. I'm not sure if she was purposely trying to give me bad service, but it was strange. I did like being able to pay for my meal from my phone and be on my way, but the below mediocre food and extremely poor service and just weird vibe of the restaurant in this basement really put me off. I've had catering from here before at events and remembered liking it, but it felt like the in person restaurant experience was entirely different food. Not too keen on returning, especially when there are loads of other wonderful eateries at L&L to choose from. read more

Love the food, hated the ambience. I'm a little puzzled by all these reviews that forgive the ambience for the food. I will probably go back there at some point to see if anything has changed and if so, I might increase this to four stars. Right now it's a three star which is pretty rare for me, as I'm pretty forgiving about ambience if the food is good. But this was just not a great experience for me. Came here with pretty high expectations after hearing about the place online and from several friends. Parking is easy and plentiful. However, I definitely dislike that there's free parking, but in order to get it you have to validate it when you get to the restaurant. And I have to remember my license plate now for my car. Oh well, that's happening all over Nashville now. I got seated with my two kids at a low top table that was directly in front of the area where people come into the restaurant between two pillars. Don't sit there. We were jostled by everyone who came into the restaurant. You are literally like a foot away from people as they walk in. They shouldn't even have a table there. It had just rained, and the pipes were dripping water over the table. I brought it to the servers attention and they offered to move us, but at that point, our food had arrived and my kids already started eating, so I just moved them and sat myself under the pipe. It is so not fun to get water dripped on you while you're eating. A server also dropped some glasses at the table right next to us. My youngest son also complained that the music was way too loud. On the flipside, the food is pretty great. The kids pasta is simple with tomato sauce and Parmesan and basil, and it was delicious. I liked the strawberry and spinach and beet salad. The vegetarian pizza was tasty with a beautiful crust that was perfectly cooked and held up nicely to all the toppings, although I thought they put too much pesto on it. Loved that there was lots of red pepper and chili flavored olive oil at the table. Would be nice if there were a few extra utensils in that container at the table because my kids dropped their fork a couple of times and I couldn't find a waiter to get a replacement, because they just don't have enough waitstaff. It's kind of weird to me to order on a phone as opposed to having an actual waiter. I was able to navigate it without a problem though. Guess I'm getting too old to do all this newfangled technology. (End sarcasm) Lots of kids and families there. Got very busy on a Friday evening. I did like that it was casual enough for families to come, but given all the issues I'm still not convinced I would bring my kids again. And don't sit where we sat. Fun to go visit the rest of the food hall amd order at the milkshake bar or at five daughters. I'm probably gonna stick with the Franklin factory and pastaria for dine in. I think this would be a phenomenal takeout place though. That's probably the only way that I'm gonna enjoy this food. read more

She wanted pasta, it was her trip, so I obliged and found this place I had bookmarked near our hotel. Walked in and met a nice man in a chefs coat. He cleared a table for us and we sat down. He asked if we had been there before, nope, so he explained the process of how things work up in here. You order from your phone and things just arrive when they are ready. It's a bit clunky feeling ordering and receiving your stuff. One dish came before all drinks, alcohol was served before soda glasses (get your own soda, but not glasses), one meal at a time served with several minutes between. The pasta dude makes food one dish at a time. The loud ass Italian dude behind the oven screamed at me across the restaurant for looking at him inquisitively while he cooked before we even ordered. Needless to say, the service is strange. I don't give a shit though... This food is amazing! Everything we had was phenomenal. I won't dwell and make this review too long but check my pics attached. Stupid good foods. ALL PIZZAS WISHED THEY HAD THAT ONION JAM!!!! GAME OVER My 17 yr old, picky as hell, kiddo ate the entire plate of food she had, (I tried it and can confirm it is the best pasta I've ever tasted) and then stole the whole tiramisu for her own consumption after trying to order all of the desserts they had. The food was good. Too bland of a review so far? I agree. But that's the only positivity I can muster for a place with such poor - downright BRUSQUE - service. All ordering is done through QR codes, which I find to be a gross (albeit trending) affront to the art of dining. If I wanted to be selecting my menu items on a touchscreen, I'd hit up the Golden Arches. After crudely punching in my tables' orders, a total ambiance kill, each drink and dish came out about 4 minutes apart, making for an awkward and stilted dining experience in an already uncomfortable environment, might I add. Some members of my dining party likened the layout to a "mess hall." When my plate arrived, at last, it was quickly handed to me by a couldn't-be-bothered, eye-rolling, staff member with a played-up Italian accent. It made me wonder: Who peed in his fusilli?! This was one of the first places I tried when I moved here last year. It's now become one of my favorite spots. They have a delicious hot honey pizza and their tiramisu is so good as well. We've ordered different pastas and have never been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and although this restaraunt gets very busy, they always have a smile on their face.
