We went to celebrate our friend's retirement and absolutely loved it. It was a great familial experience with expertly crafted food just like I can remember from growing up. The quality of everything was excellent, but both the chicken and the citrus cream sauce stole the show. Highly recommend this to everybody. My birthday theme this year was thirty two-tta Bella so naturally there was no better place to have a birthday dinner than here. I was completely impressed from the food, to the service, to the overall experience. We spent the several hours here laughing, dancing out the full pasta tummies and toasting to a good time. I really didn't expect to leave full after seeing the first few courses but I can safely say it was well worth the money because I left absolutely stuffed. What is really unique about this, compared to other coursed meals is they will box up anything you can't finish so you can take it home. I enjoyed most of the courses, especially the fresh made mozzarella, the creamy pasta and the donuts. The cocktails were great too but as you can imagine with many people ordering drinks at the same time, it took a little to get your drinks. Nothing wrong with this though! The head chef gave a lovely speech about how this restaurant came to be and the intent behind it which brought tears to my eyes. You can tell that there is huge level of care put into every aspect of this place and by the time you leave it feels like leaving your aunt and uncles place. So even if you don't love every dish or some of the dancing made you feel silly what you remember is how lovely the night was overall and what this place makes you feel. It was a very perfect all around and really fit the theme and intent for my birthday this year. It was an experience in both a good and bad way. We met up with friends for the highly anticipated Feast of Seven Fishes before Christmas. The restaurant itself was fine - nothing really special about it. It's in a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking. The waitstaff was reasonably friendly. There was bread and butter already on the table. They took our drink orders and once most of the restaurant was seated, started bringing out the courses. Here's where it started to get disappointing. The Antipasti was 50/50. The bread and Tuna Crudo were delicious, but the Baccala Mantecato with Grilled Polenta was a weird texture and the Grilled Baby Octopus seemed half-assed. It was whole, super chewy, and just not a lot of flavor. Moving on to the Insalata of Fruitti Di Mare...it was mostly just more whole baby octopus that seemed leftover from the previous dish. Ick. The dish had mostly that and some other ingredients. Not a fan. For the Primo, we had Penne Pasta which was pretty good and Lobster Risotto which was delicious. I wish we had not eaten as much of the "so so" items and saved room for the lobster because a lot of it had to get boxed up for later. In the Secondo course, this was a win. Both the Whole Red Snapper and Shrimp Scampi were super tasty and winners in our book. Unfortunately, for Dolce, that was a miss, too. The Espresso Dusted Chocolate Truffle seemed pretty generic, and the Panettone was just fine. At some point in the night, the staff came around with limoncello in shot glasses. I expected there to be a cost, but certainly $18 each was a bit of a shock. The dancing was fun. I liked hearing the chef/owner's story about the reasoning behind it. We went NYE AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!! The atmosphere was terrific. The Godfather was showing,no sound, and photos from NYC,where Nick,the owner/ chef are originally from. We had an 11 course meal,which was wonderful as well. From focaccia ,tuna tartare, shrimp cocktail, tenderloin ,roasted zucchini and parsley and lobster tail, Caesar salad, teraimasu,,champagne and Italian donuts to take home. There was dancing between the shrimp cocktail and the lobster tail and beef tenderloin. The owner and his staff got everyone up dancing to oldies and doing dances some might not have been at all familiar with. We all had so much fun,including my 15 1/2 year old grandson. In order to truly review good Italian food one must be served good Italian food, and my experience was anything but. Instead, it was a disappointing joke of bland food, poor service all while in a worn down cheap looking restaurant. Still to this day I do not understand how in the world they have gotten some of the 5 star reviews I have read. I get people have different tastes but as part of an Italian family this restaurant doesn't even come close to any authenticity. The food. I can't. It's an insult to any true Italian. The drinks. Just weird. You are served wine in a tall shot glass! The service. I won't. It's equivalent to slow paced Cracker Barrel servers with repeated "Sorry darling that you had to wait so long" conversations. The atmosphere. I refuse. It's a mediocre restaurant in a strip mall playing a low quality version of The Godfather while people eat. The Italian wedding they say you'll celebrate? Who in their right mind throws an Italian wedding and shows a bloody horse's head during dinner? The music. It's 4-5 songs everyone dances to and then it's over. In addition, you can also learn a lot about a restaurant by their bathroom and both the dining room and bathrooms imitate one of a very casual shorts/ flip flop attire. The parking, there's plenty...it's in a strip mall. The bill. This is what truly summed up the night. Each bill receives an automatic 25% gratuity added to your bill REGARDLESS of your party size. Out of all the dining experiences I've had I have never seen an establishment add that much gratuity for a party of 2. This is just wrong and everyone needs to fully understand what is entailed when dining at Mangia. Finally, the owner. No. The way he speaks down to people who don't agree with his uninspiring idea of a nice night out is absolutely inexcusable. Part of being a business owner is to accept constructive feedback in a mature manner and improve. Some of the responses from him not only show his lack of decency but reveals the core of his childlike character. Our night at Mangia consisted of 3 hours of average food at best, slow service, and cheesy Godfather entertainment ending with a $311 bill for two people. This is NOT fine dining and is an embarrassment to the Italian culture. It's an experience! We had our 10th wedding anniversary dinner here. It's a set seasonal menu, we are vegetarians so they modified their dishes accordingly. Cocktails are average. Starters were amazing (Focaccia and lemon risotto cake were amazing). It's a whole 3 h experience, and multiple rounds of food keeps coming. Dessert is cannoli which is average and Zeppole. It's also unique in that the whole restaurant starts dancing in the middle of the dinner. And the chef's concept is dinner as a big family like Italian families. Amazing gluten free options! Everything on the menu can be made gluten free which is just fantastic for anyone with Celiac's Disease. I've lived just around the corner from Mangia for over 5 years and I just went for the first time. And I'm kicking myself for not going sooner. It was AMAZING. We started with the Garlic Focaccia Stack (or what I call "Bread Jenga"), which came with both traditional garlic bread and the "black carbon" bread. They didn't taste too different from one another, but they both tasted delicious. The bread was perfect on its own (a feat for bread), but the trio of dipping sauces that came with the bread was divine. The white sauce was my favorite, but the two red sauces (one mild and one spicy) were also great. Selecting an entree was difficult -- there were so many mouthwatering items to choose from. But after much deliberation, I opted for the standard pepperoni pizza on the roasted garlic crust. This is a BIG 12-inch pizza. Although I absolutely could have finished the entire thing if told to do so, I tapped out after three quarters. The thin, Neapolitan-style thin crust is mildly charred on the bottom and so flavorful. It is indeed thin and a little floppy, but I had no issues picking up the slices. The pizza was topped with savory San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and a generous helping of flavorful pepperoni slices. This was a sinfully greasy pizza -- the grease was quite literally pooling under the crust, which did make it a tad bit soggy. That was likely a result of the pepperoni. If you're looking for a "drier" pie, consider picking one of the vegetarian options. But from start to finish, this pizza was incredible. I'm ashamed that I waited so long to try Mangia. The food was incredible, the staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed. I will most certainly be back soon. read more

What a fun experience! After reading the reviews, I had to drag my boyfriend here for the Italian Feast hosted on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations only! A quick phone call with a follow-up e-mail confirmed our reservation. Mangia Nashville is located in a shopping center with its own parking lot, making parking a breeze. Upon entering, we were greeted and sat at a communal table with several other patrons. This is a family-style dinner experience so don't be shy! Decor features photography from The Godfather and they also play the film on silent throughout the 3-hour dining experience. The waitstaff are all fantastic. Our main hostess had a great sense of humor and helped us newbies understand how everything worked. She was so funny! They also kept the wine flowing and kept us dancing and singing the whole night! They are currently featuring the Winter Menu with a seasonal menu that rotates quarterly. Every dish was well done. Highlights were the shrimp saltimbocca stuffed portobello mushroom (I wanted a bowl full!), eggplant caponata, porcini cognac cream sauce penne pasta, veal osso buco with creamy polenta, and the tiramisu! Can you believe this wasn't even HALF the menu? You will not leave hungry or disappointed. The variety and amount of food was definitely worth the price ($50 per person without gratuity or tax). Honestly, it's a bargain! You can take any leftovers from the table to-go. Now, the dancing and singing was my favorite part! I honestly wish there was more of it. It definitely got me burning off the 10000+ calories I had just consumed and help make room for more food. Last night I had dinner with 4 of my closest friends at this restaurant, first time dining here. The manager was incredibly rude to my friend who wanted to pay for part of our dinner with a gift card she received. They refused to accept the card because it was two years old despite there being no expiration date on the card. My friend was very embarrassed when the manager berated her at our table and repeatedly asked "where did you get this?? Where did you get this??" She wanted to know "why" the card was two years old. Hello-covid?? None of us have been going out to eat for over a year. My friend checked the card balance online before we dined to make sure it was still valid and active, it was. The card she received before everything was on lockdown. On top of all that, the food wasn't very good, it came out before we received any of our drinks, we received a completely wrong cocktail that wasn't drinkable yet decided not to complain about any of that because we ALL work in customer service. And then the manager, Rachel I believe her name is decided to insinuate that we had a fraudulent card or a gift card that they "couldn't honor" and pretty much mortified us in front of the other guests. We had a group of 5 Saturday night reservations The moment you walk in, it feels like a thanksgiving family dinner. Very inviting, the employees were beautiful & kept a smile on their faces. We loved the interaction each server presented us with each entree. The first few appetizers were so GOOD! The rest of the dishes were OK. It wasn't the savory mama Mia taste that we thought we'd get. It was more of a vegan Italian taste. The healthier version of the Italian experience. The moscato is delightful. A glass is $9 or Bottle is $31 It's about $55 per person, and kids I think there is a discount. We loved the in between where we had to stand up and do Italian dancing and cheering. It was super cute. This place to me personally is more of a girls night dinner. There were Some couples but majority there were more women. Be aware that this is a 3 hour Italian experience. My partner had a $100 gift card so we took friends out to dinner. The manager RACHEL returned yelling and had an accusatory tone asking where we got it. She refused to take it even though it had ACTUAL money and her so called small business got the money from it already. So shady not honoring a card with no expiration and their online site even verified the money on it. Oh and she took the gift card and refused to give it back. ALSO the food sucked. Everyone ordered meats to add for their pasta dishes and they brought the meat in separate tubs for each to mix in. Like it wasn't even cooked together. Seemed like it was all pre prepared and microwaved. So not worth the price or the terrible customer service. A CELIAC's DREAM! When I was told they could make a majority of the menu gluten free, I didn't know what to think. I don't think I've ever had so many options to choose from in my life! If you don't feel like lining up on both sides of the room at a specific time to do a synchronized dance between courses, this might not be your place. I've seen this owner's response to reviews. If a review is not 5 star/glowing, he says, "I accept your apology." I am not offering an apology here, but just being honest about my experience. WOW this place ranks in my top 10 meals ever. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our 2 years anniversary. I had made reservations for the dining room, but the patio looked so nice when we got there. I asked if it was possible to sit out there instead and they were so accommodating! We started with drinks and a focaccia stack. The focaccia stack is exactly what it sounds like, a stack of sliced focaccia bread. We're not usually big appetizer people but I am SO glad we got this one-- it was amazing!! Half is regular colored focaccia bread and the other half is black and they both taste spectacular. I was disappointed that they didn't have their lemon cream sauce on the menu, but the waiter recommended Italian mac n cheese. I was skeptical but went with it. Oh. My. Gosh. We came here today for our work Christmas party. Our work rented out the place; I assume. We were told to not eat breakfast or eat light because there was a lot of food coming our way. Fast forward to lunchtime today. The space is so cute and quaint. It's a very intimate place, but very open. The kitchen is open to guests so you can see everything being done. The booths are very comfortable and the servers are very attentive. the charcoal bread on the table was delicious. I could eat a whole loaf lol. We started off with a lemon risotto with an aioli. It was delicious. Then came our arugula salad with Prosecco vinaigrette. Intermission for some Italian dancing with all the girls. Then came entree part one: butternut squash pasta. It was delicious. Entree part two was a pork loin, rosemary chicken, and roasted zucchini. Followed by some dancing line with everyone. To top off the meals were Italian donuts. The spaced out meals and interactions made the experience and also allowed our food to settle some. My worries beforehand were definitely diminished. I thoroughly enjoyed every single course.
