A Happy Little Paris Accident! We stumbled into Café de Paris after the restaurant we originally planned to visit was completely booked. It was pretty late, our options were dwindling, and while this spot was a little more casual than we had intended for the evening, this cute Parisian pub ended up hitting the spot! We kicked things off with drinks -- a Gin Basil Splash and a French 75. For starters, we ordered the vegetable stracciatella and escargot , followed by the sea bass and roasted chicken for our entrées. Everything made for a solid, satisfying late-night meal. The real standout, though, was the service! Our server was wonderful, but what impressed me even more was that nearly every staff member who passed our table checked in to see if we needed anything. Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. The restaurant itself is cute and quaint, with sprawling patio seating that's perfect for people-watching in Paris. There's also a private room tucked away in the back. It was definitely LOUD , but I think a lot of that came from the busy street outside -- the block is packed with bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, so there's a ton of foot traffic and energy late into the night. Overall, Café de Paris wasn't where we planned to end up, but sometimes the unexpected spots are exactly what you need. Good food, great service, cocktails, and Paris nightlife buzzing all around us -- I'd call that a successful Plan B! read more

We ducked in here after a very rainy first day in Paris to dry off and warm up with some good hot food. Wine and escargot for starters - both were delicious, the Cote du Rhône balancing nicely with the herbaceous snails. Both were brought to us by our most courteous and friendly waiter. All in all, a good night for Parisian hospitality. The onion soup - delicious and heartwarming. Our spirits lifted, off into the night for more rain and a quick walk to the flat. I am going out of order here, but that is okay. Before I did a tour of Pere Lachaise Cemetery, I stopped here for a quick lunch as I had a craving for a Croque Madame or a Croquet Monsieur, and did a quick hit to find which cafes do it right. This was the first one that came up, and I am not sorry that I made the decision to eat here. As I wanted the egg, I went with the Croque Madame. In hindsight, I should have ordered both the Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur for the sake of experimentation, but in any event, the Croque Madame was victorious in the battle of the Croques. The sandwich, for European standards, is HUGE. It tastes great, all the harmonious things that you would expect in it are terrific. Salty meat and a great deal of flavor that you would find hard pressed in North America. Best of all, it all agreed with me later! Some things Europeans just do better than Americans. read more

We were able to get a table outside and even made friends with a group of ppl sitting next to us. We weren't initially hungry, but after looking at that food around us, we ended up ordering a pepperoni pizza. It was delicious, but the pepperoni was a little spicy. The food here was excellent. I had the spaghetti di Gambas aux Courgettes (zucchini), my wife had the pasta al pesto, which was nice a well. Unfortunately that is where the good news ends and the bad news begins. I also had a glass of bacchus de coteau lyonnais wine. It was awful, served warm not slightly chilled and seemed to have come from a bottle opened a long time ago. I should have sent it back and didn't drink it. Next, the poor waiter was trying to manage 20 something tables. Naturally the service was poor and trying to get his attention was fruitless. In a way I felt bad for him. Finally as a result of all of this, getting our food took longer than expected and the bill took long as well. So service 1 star but food was 4.5 stars. read more

This is defintely a tourist trap. Literally a handful of steps away from the Louvre. Our apratment was less than a block from here. The food has no flavor and is very bland. The ticket times were out of hand at 30 minutes plus for a Pizza and Two Rigatoni's with spicy sausage. Mind you their weren't many people here when we ordered. My wife and I had to dump cheese on our Rigatoni to give it any flavor. We had eaten at many good restaurants by this point in our trip. It seems the night Chef may have lost his passion for food. Our server was a nice guy and was very pleasant. Decided to come here based on positive Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews, however we were totally steered wrong! This place is absolutely a tourist trap near the Louvre, and the food was the worst we had in all of Paris. The service was friendly (hence the 2 stars), but incredibly slow, and we felt like we wasted time and money here! The tables outside are also super cramped and we should have known this would be a tourist trap from the moment we arrived. For food we had the croque madame (decent), however it came with fries that were totally cold and stale. The French onion soup was awful and flavorless, literally tasted like onion water. Needed a lot more salt and flavor!! There are so many better restaurants to try in Paris, do not waste your time here! read more

Delicious food and excellent service! They had an English menu available, and the server spoke English, at least well enough to make our visit enjoyable and easy. We got the bistrot burger and the chicken supreme, both divine. I had the escargot cas a starter, and I love that they served them in the shells. For dessert, we had crème brûlée, and I think it's the best we have had in Paris. They have an outdoor patio with heaters, but we chose to sit inside by the window. If you're hungry and in a hurry in Paris...you should consider fasting. You're not supposed to eat on the run in Paris, and few places are better for the ultimate cafe experience than Cafe de Paris. I know, I know, it's in tourist-central, but the food is really good! Love the Burgundy Escargot. They take some serious skill with tiny forks, but thes soft, tender nib-lets are worth the effort! The Carbonara is heavy. A very creamy sauce and an eggier flavor for a very satisfying The Caramelita Crepes can be a full sweet meal, but they double as dessert. The roasted apples are grainy, the crepes are paper-thin, and the caramel ice cream carries a delightfully mildly burnt aftertaste. There are many cafes in Paris, and this is one of the better ones. It's a delightful lunch, and I highly recommend fueling up here before you go to any of the art museums near by! read more

Stop by here before heading to Buddha bar. Sat in my dates favorite booth, right in the center, located in front of the bar, where you can view the name of the company. Nice spot, to get great shots. Popped in this little cafe looking for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised with the delicious meal. We were quickly seated and received great attentive service throughout the meal, which isn't super frequent in Paris. The waiter even stopped to cut my son's pizza for him/ so sweet. Stopped in later in the evening and could see they were busy and only had 2 servers for both the upstairs and downstairs. Even though they were busy they did get us seated and brought some water to the table right away. We did say the kids were hungry and asked if we could order for them and we were in no rush besides that. They did take the order (both ordered pasta) and within 10 minutes both plates came out hot and fresh. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. We had some wine to go with the meal as well. No thank you. After reading the reviews and seeing how close it was to the Louvre, we decided to eat here for dinner since we were all really hungry. There was no wait, which was nice, but the food wasn't good at all. And even though we were sitting inside, the cigarette smell bothered me even more than any other restaurant. When the food came, everything was lukewarm and the food was not good either. The soup tasted like it was from a pre-packaged pouch...bleh. And to make the dining experience even worse, I saw a gigantic cockroach in the restaurant, probably the biggest I've ever seen....I wasn't the only customer that saw it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, seems like it's a tourist trap. Food isn't worth it..I've definitely eaten better meals in Paris. read more

With the name and proximity to the louvre exit (1/2 block away) we assumed this would be a tourist trap. it ended up having a wonderful heated patio, delicious French onion soup and even better pizza. Cafe de Paris is a cute little place in the area of The Louvre. The night I visited, I was greeted promptly by a friendly staff member and given a wonderful table that faced the street but was inside and warm. (I visited in December, so being warm was a blessing.) The server stopped by just as promptly and was super fun and friendly. My travel companion and I ordered a bottle of wine on the recommendation of our server and it was really good. (Hipster de Barbe? There is a photo of the bottle showing what it was.) It was actually the best part of our meal. We also ordered a Chicken Caesar salad, which was okay. The chicken was a bit rubbery. We also ordered a basic hamburger patty with egg on top that came with fries. It looked really good but it wasn't tasteful. Saying that, I'm wondering if we just didn't order the 'good stuff', since this place has gotten better reviews. So, if you are reading this, take that in to account. Perhaps go for some of the other items that are a sure hit. I do recommend that wine too! Back to our server, he really was fantastic. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was very helpful and attentive. I think he was the friendliest person we ran into the week we were there. I've looked for the receipt over and over again to get his name but I just don't know where I put it. Anyway, he was great. So, if you are in that area, I would say try Cafe de Paris. People always say that the French are rude. So far, our experience had been nothing but friendly and helpful people until we came to Café De Paris. We walked in and they informed us sit "anywhere". Our options were to sit in the front covered area with a lot of rounds 2-seater tables, far inside the restaurant or upstairs. We chose the upstairs as it was cold and we didn't want to feel the cold air if other diners walked in. The entire restaurant was less than 25% full during lunch time. The two of us chose a table that sits four because there was only 1 tiny table for 2 that was squished between two other tables. We were hungry and planned on ordering 2 appetizers, mains, drinks, and desserts. About 5 mins later, a waiter comes upstairs. No hello or any greeting. He basically yelled at us we can't sit at our table and we have to sit at the only 2 seater table they have upstairs because the table we chose is for "more than two people". As a reminder, the restaurant was pretty empty with tons of tables downstairs. We had coats, shawls and bags which would not fit. Then the waiter said "or go sit downstairs". We decided to walk out and leave. Not spending any money here. We went to another restaurant down the street. It was packed but the waiters/waitresses were super friendly. We had a great lunch. In the past few days, we have dined at Micheline Star restaurants and other fine dining with exceptional service. Obviously, Café de Paris is in area with mostly diners who are tourists, and the waiter needs to get his snobby attitude in check because you are going to turn customers away. I have friends headed to Paris in the next few months and I will pass on the info to stay away from here. read more
