One does not simply wander into a café on the Rue Saint-Honoré without reason. We chose Café Ruc deliberately -- shaded tables on a warm day, a terrace that appeared clean and unhurried, and the small but meaningful fact that it sits practically in the shadow of the Louvre. Practical considerations, yes. But even practical choices deserve to be rewarded. And Café Ruc rewarded us. Our waiter -- attentive, measured, respectful -- proceeded to dismantle my skepticism one small gesture at a time. He did not hover. He did not disappear. He simply knew when we needed something before we had finished deciding we needed it. Drinks replenished. Presence felt. A rare equilibrium. But the moment that elevated this from "competent" to "remarkable" came when he informed us, calmly and without apology, that he was going on break -- and would we prefer to settle the bill now so we could leave at our leisure? I had a final drink still to order. He noted it, charged accordingly, delivered it, and then went on his break. In Paris, this is not the standard. On the Champs-Élysées, this is a fantasy. Wondered in to this place after leaving the Louvre. It was hot and we wanted to be seated inside in the AC. We sat and waited and waited and waited for someone to acknowledge our presence at the table. We sat for about 10 minutes before our waiter who had walked by us at least 10 times said hello to us. We ordered our food and drinks and he didn't write down anything. We now waited and waited and waited again at least another 15 minutes before he came back to the table and asked us for our food order again. But still no drinks! We told him again our food order and waited again and still no food or drinks. Finally the drinks show up and then the food about 10 minutes more after the drinks. Two people sat at the table next us and left after the same waiter failed to acknowledge them also. The food was average at best. Just steps away from the northern entrance to the Louvre, Cafe RUC is a wonderful little place to grab a bite and enjoy the sights and sounds of Paris. Sadly, most of those sounds are honking horns and angry drivers, but at least the view is...nothing but traffic. But don't blame the cafe for that. They have plenty of outdoor seating, a menu with items even the pickiest eaters would enjoy, and flavors that aren't too bold or too bland. I ordered the spaghetti with bolognese and would get it again, though the cheeseburger and fries looked like a crowd favorite. If you're visiting from the US, don't expect your normal level of server attentiveness. It's France. Expect the server to leave you alone for the most part. If you need a refill or more of something, you'll have to flag them down, because they don't stop by the table every 8-10 min like in the US. Trust me, you'll be fine. read more

We sat outside in the cafe and had a great meal. The service was good. Our server spoke English which made ordering easy. The menu was in French and English so easy to make your selections. You never fell like you are being hurried when you eat in a restaurant in Paris. The server will check on you from time to time, but does not make it seem like they are pushing you to leave, even after you have finished eating. One of the nice things is that they are located on a busy street that is nice for people watching. We got a chicken dish, onion soup and French fries. Everything was delicious. 3.5 I came across this restaurant after visiting Louvre Museum. Was almost immediately greeted and we sat outside despite it being slightly breezy. The server spoke English, which was very helpful. The wait was a little long, but the food came out very quickly. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries, penne with tomato and basil and risotto. I would say the food was okay, it wasn't anything that special, but I did appreciate the service. Would give NEGATIVE stars if I could. Thought this place was going to be good because of the long wait - but now I know it's just due to its location near the Louvre. Went there for lunch for 4 people, got food poisoning and was sick the entire rest of the day into the next morning. I know it was them because I did not eat anything else that day and I thought my food tasted funny but brushed it off as not being accustomed to the food. Ruined an entire day for me and on top of that our waitress told us "would you like to leave a tip - it's customary to leave 10-20% tip". So feeling awkward we did only to see at the bottom of the receipt afterwards that tip is already included in the bill. She flat out LIED. And if you google, tip is actually NOT customary in France as it's already included in the bill - which we thought but since she flat out looked us in the eyes and said it was customary to add 10-20% tip, we did. We paid about 200 EURO for lunch for 4 people, food poisoning and to be lied to in order to get additional tip. We don't mind tipping - we mind being lied to and to pay so much money to get sick. We happen to be passing by after 8 hours at the Louvre. No line, no waiting immediately seated. Service quick, food delicious not sure why other reviews were poor. Our experience was awesome. Two drinks, Tuna tartare on a bed of avocado, Onion soup, Beef Bolognese, chicken breast with curry sauce and a spicy peach compote served on the side. This was really good and I preferred that the two sauces were served on the side because then you the guest chose how much or how little of spicy you wished to consume. First I do not recommend this place for locals and especially if you are a tourist STAY AWAY! We visited this resturant after a visit to the Louvre. We stepped in during a downpour and ordered a bottle of wine and early dinner. The service was awful the young man kept forgetting to bring over what he needed to bring to the table, the cork-screw for the wine, the bread and butter arrived with the dinner. He annoying returned to the table every few minutes but never refilled our wine glasses and I had to continuously request water. The meal was passable but entirely prepared without a grain of salt no seasoning whatsoever. I ordered Veal Milanese that had been beaten to an eighth of an inch thick and dry and no seasoning. When we requested the check it took this guy forever to return. Even the local couple we met commented about bad the server was. When he returned with the bill he requested a tip, I was surprised he actually requested a gratuity. I know unlike the in the US a gratuity is not necessary but I did add a little something to the bill. To my surprise this guy questioned me and I had to explain all the issues with the service and food. Unfortunately, I paid by ApplePay on my phone and did not realize this guy managed to increase tip. I thought at the time it was the rate of exchange difference and found out from my bank that was not the case. I would never recommend the place! We ate here twice because it was convenient to our hotel across the street. Food wasn't bad. Ambiance felt a little contrived and outdated. Kind of touristy. Prices a little high but that was the case for all of our meals I. Paris. Daughters both had salmon. One was undercooked. She didn't finish it. I had a nice green salad (butter lettuce, asparagus and snap peas with a nice vinaigrette) because I'm vegan and that was the only option (with a side of fries, which were really good). But the experience was negatively affected by our waiter asking for a tip. He hovered over me with his credit card machine and said something like , "was the service good? Would you like to leave a gratuity?" I know tips are not expected in Paris and I felt very pressured to provide one as he stood over me. We sat inside while it rained outside. The indoor decor was very lush and very French. The staff was attentive until the rest of the lunch crowd trickled in. It's my experience that the French waitstaff don't linger around too long to take care of patrons. We usually just try to make eye contact and raise a hand if we need something. We ordered meals that required very little prep - Avacado on toast and salmon eggs Benedict. Both weren't very good and the avacado toast was so hard you couldn't cut through it and it hurt to chew (included video for visual) after this we asked for our table and waited another 20 mins for the waitress who seemed to not care at all if we had a good experience. Convenient place to eat after a long day at the Louvre. It's located about a block away from the Louvre, across the street from Hotel du Louvre, it's very Parisian, tables on the side walk, you can order typical french cuisines from Escargot to steak tartar. I wouldn't say this is as good as french food gets, come on, it's next to the Louvre, I'm sure to the Parisians it's very touristy. But I happened to be a tourist, so it was delicious to me. Also had the steak carpaccio here, delicious as well... It is kinda pricey, not to mention the exchange rate. Then again, you pay for the convenience... Went here for lunch a few days ago after my dad and I paid a visit to the Louvre. The thing that captured us here was that it was probably the closest restaurant to the museum, and it's decorated really nicely! I loved all of the red accents throughout the restaurant, and the chairs are pretty modern and comfortable as well. This place was a tad bit on the more expensive side, but I'm sure you're paying for the location. I got a croque madame, with was absolutely fantastic. My dad got the beef tartar which he personally wasn't a fan of, because beef tartar to us just looks like a raw hamburger patty. We also got the salmon stuffed with goat cheese appetizer, and that was great too. Our waiter did not understand English very well, so it was a little hard communicating with him. Luckily the guy sitting at the table next to us understood both English and French, so he translated for us. I think if the restaurant is so close to a tourist location, they should have better English-speaking staff. I noticed everyone who worked there was dressed very nicely. Two girls were wearing really trendy, cute dresses, and our waiter was wearing a suit. I wouldn't mind coming back to this restaurant. Location was great and the food was tasty! read more

This is a good place to "act like a Parisian" and sip on your cup of coffee or wine while you people watch as it is located on a busy road with a ton of foot traffic and cars driving past. It is within minutes of The Louvre so you can head here to relax and rest up before heading off to your next destination! I would only come here for beverages just to soak in the vibe. We weren't too hungry and just wanted a place to lounge out so I ordered a nice cold beer and a coffee as well to get that caffeine fix! We did want something to nibble on and ordered a small meat platter. The price was a bit steep (20 €) just for a few slices of ham and olives but it was expected as this was in the middle of Paris. Short: Very friendly service and ok breakfast. Long: We had the "formule p'tit dèjeuner traditionel" which was plenty, although very simple. My sister chose the bread and I the Viennoiseries, so we had a little of everything. The toasted, but quite hard bread comes with butter and a small glass of jam. The Viennoiseries were already on the table and not fresh (well, just like the bread, a couple of days old). It was still tasty but kinda dry. The coffee was good, and came with a tiny pitcher with hot milk, the orange and grapefruit juices were squeezed fresh and plenty! about 30cl! Wonderful! The service was very friendly, and smart. Really lovely both ladies we had. In the end, they almost billed us for the "Continentale" (Has scrambled eggs for 5€ more per p.). But I guess that can happen. Cafe Ruc is definitely an oasis after hours and hours of walking. The waitresses are all dressed in nice clothes (no uniform or apron) complete with high heels and the interior decor screams French and fancy. We weren't sure if they would take us without a reservation and casual clothes but they were very warm and welcoming. I had an artichoke Caesar salad, the hubby had onion soup w/fries and it was a nice surprise to find Beck's on draft. We came here late at night while out in Paris. It started to rain on our walk home, so we ducked in here to grab a drink and enjoy the evening. The outdoor seating area had been packed earlier, but late in the evening, there were open spots. It was also fashion week, and my goodness, there was lots of fashion to behold! Having had a crazy night out, I settled on steamed vanilla milk (odd, I know), but it was just what I wanted and it was perfect. I also want to note that I went upstairs to use the restroom and noticed a cat asleep in the hallway. I found it to be super charming and tres Parisian. Can you swear on Yelp Paris? Je ne sais pas. Paris is filled with fucking cafes. There's big cafes, corner cafes, breakfast cafes, dinner cafes. Some are nicer than others, but they all look more or less identical, so there's no obvious way to know which ones are good, let alone which ones serve more than just snacks. We went to Cafe Ruc based on the recommendation of a friend. We had to sit inside since it's hard to fit 8 people and a baby on the sidewalk. I don't generally place babies on sidewalks anyway, For appetizers, we ordered onion soup, heirloom tomatoes with burrata, and spring rolls. The (French) onion soup was otherworldly and unlike anything I've had in the states. The spring rolls were somewhat basic but good. The tomatoes, cheese and I are now legally considered married in Massachusetts. For dinner, most of us got the filet, which came with béarnaise and a mash. The mash is best described as melted butter and cream with some potato inside. A medium rare filet with sauce and a dollop of those potatoes was one of the three best bites of anything I've ever had. I'm sure my arteries now look like the GWB at 6 PM, but I can't argue with the results. The waitress, who had a party of 8 Americans on her first day, was awesome.
