Burnt to a crisp- inedible
Ashlee M.

Let me start by saying I ordered take out but I wanted to try it due to all the amazing reviews! All 5 stars and I think I saw like two 1 star reviews. So when I got my dinner I began cutting my chicken picatta to give to my son. I immediately was unable to cut through it and thought oh no tough chicken but it was a huge pink vein. It grossed me out immediately and rendered a good portion of it inedible. Luckily the portion size was large. The chicken piccata was actually really good though! The calamari was extremely overcooked to the point it was burnt- the whole entire order was inedible! I also paid for mashed potatoes ($7) and never received them! A bit disappointed there- but I'm not the type to call and complain so I let it go. The homemade pasta was delicious but the sauce wasn't great at all- my friend agreed. My other friend said the veal was excellent at 10/10! Overall we had a ton of misses on this evenings dinner but it definitely has potential! My chicken piccata was good and the portion size was large- the homemade macaroni was great but the sauce was off. The calamari was inedible and we couldn't eat it at all. Literally tasted like you were chewing on a shoelace. However for tonight's meal with all the problems I'm going to have to rate it at 3. I do think I would try it again- but I would like either my money back for my mashed potatoes that I paid for and never received or some type of credit to use toward my next meal.

this is my wife's and I's favorite restaurant. It's the best Italian food around. The service is great too.

Excellent service. Good food. Menu offerings on the smaller side but solid choice if you don't like a lot of seafood

The owner is the sweetest man you will ever meet . This is a hidden gem. Cozy, great music, service was impeccable. Ever since we first walked in the door we said YUP NEW FAVORITE SPOT . I've been there twice now and their food is amazing and the ambiance and hospitality are so very rare. You walk in and it feels like being invited to a family dinner. First time I had the Lobster Pescatoré. Was fantastic. Tonight I had their special Rack of Lamb. They asked how I wanted it and delivered perfectly. The chef/owner Luigi is a really friendly older man from Italy. He's the real deal and he runs an amazing restaurant and kitchen. He once told us that he goes to the market at dawn every day to pick out the choicest produce. Everything is made fresh. The Place isn't fancy, but they've made it nice with the space they have. It is a hidden gem. They serve only beer and wine, soda and water. I've only gotten half carafes of Cab. But the chef came out and had shots of homemade limoncello with us before and gave us complimentary Bruschetta. Rumor is they get their bread from Buono Italian Bakery in Providence. I've been there for double dinner dates and dinner with the kids. I highly recommend.

Massimo's has street parking or valet. They also take reservations. We came on a Monday and chose to order from their prix fixe menu. They also have a great à la carte menu. Our dinner came with focaccia and olives, a glass of house wine, an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $38/pp. Portions were smaller than the à la carte dishes but enough for us. Between my husband and I, we ordered the caprese salad and meatballs appetizers, sliced strip steak with mashed potatoes and mushrooms, a fettuccine with asparagus and prosciutto with cream sauce, and dessert was the pannecotta and cannoli. Pasta was freshly made and al dente, steak was tender and flavorful. We loved everything. My only complaint that for a large restaurant, bathroom was small. Only one unit per gender.

The host seemed surprised to see us despite being right on time for our reservation but we were seated right away after a quick exchange. Our server Erik came right over with a smile and continued to be a consummate professional throughout the evening. I wish I could have him be my server everywhere I go. We started the night with some seasonal cocktails. The spiced pear old fashioned was to die for. Complete with a solitary large cube and balanced flavors it was delicious. Our table had veal parm, linguine and white clam, and lasagna. Each dish was fresh and executed perfectly. It's a garlic lovers paradise but never overpowering, in a way any Nonna would approve. For dessert we split a slice of limoncello cake. The cake was so light and fluffy it was like eating air. Even the frosting was light enough where it didn't feel like we were stuffing ourselves to finish it. It's a smaller place so it gets busy quickly and can be a little loud. I would highly recommended a reservation as I don't think you'd have much luck getting a table on a weekend. There was a bar area with some seats but it's probably not easy to get a seat there either. As the old adage goes, if a restaurant is full all the time there's a good reason why ;)
