Food /Drinks: This place has one of my favorite lunch combos: the half sandwich and half soup. Honestly, it's more than enough food. You also get chips and rolls of bread. In the past, I've asked for extra rolls and they've been so generous that they gave me a whole bag. The price is super reasonable. Not only do they offer these combos and a full menu to order from, but their gourmet express section is packed with different options of pastas and meats that you can buy by weight. Their pastries are also delicious, and they have a huge variety. I wish I had more pictures of all these items, but I usually just run in quickly on my lunch breaks. Location: This location has its own parking, so you don't have to worry about finding a spot. There are two different areas: the express side, where you can grab and go or sit down for a quick bite, and the restaurant side, where some people dress up to dine. This place is great for different type of occasion or even just a grab and go order. Service: The service has always been quick, efficient, and friendly. Went on a Thursday at 5:00. Not very busy. Service was fantastic. The bread was horrible-stale in my opinion. Got a delicious rhubarb margarita-perfectly made. Loved the chicken escarole soup, chicken caesar salad and polenta fries. The soup and polenta fries were so so good. Did not like the croutons on the salad-also stale to me. Couldnt walk past the dessert case when leaving without grabbing chocolate mousse-perfect! They also have a ton of premade food/market to take out or grab something quick and eat there. This evening, we continued with our favorite dishes: baked scrod as well as the Parmesan & Potato Encrusted Salmon but are looking forward to trying the Chicken Marsala and also the Raffiello entree which includes one's choice of chicken or veal sautéed in rich Marsala wine sauce with mushrooms layered with breaded eggplant cutlets and melted provolone cheese. This evening, we did venture out to indulge in the Kale, Apple and Quinoa Salad with Crisp Granny Smith apples, hearty finely chopped kale, tangy red onion, and sweet craisins tossed with a Honey-Maple Vinaigrette topped with crispy goat cheese. We had luigi's cater our daughter's wedding, and everything went fantastic.!!! We had the anti pastel cart. And then after dinner had a cannoli cart, which was spectacular. But your number one request should be for Jaimie.She was the charge caterer, and she took extra care of our family and guests.She laid our mind at ease.And we were able to truly enjoy the wedding without a worry. I placed a catering order for my son's baptism and was patiently waiting for the food to be delivered. When I called they kindly informed me that I ordered the food for the following day!! Luigis was absolutely incredible and was able to quickly prep the food and deliver it to our party within an hour and a half! I could not be more thankful! Ordered some take out, calamari chicken Marsala and ravioli. It was all very delicious when picking up the order I was greeted at the door and was offered a waiting area while they finished up the order, they also offered bread and provided all the napkins and utensils. While I waited I was tempted by their delicious desserts so I made sure to indulge in their tiramisu which was delightful. The ambience is fine for a pick up I believe they have a whole other side which is a sit down restaurant but I didn't get the chance to look. I like that is was clean friendly and a waiting area is available for while you wait, easy place to find and plenty of parking. My favorite of what we ordered were the ravioli. read more

I went to a family dinner at Luigi's in Johnston. Service was very old school, very nice. The menu is old school Italian, with typical pasta and chicken options. I went with a special Sicilian chicken with sausage and spinach cooked inside, on tagliatelle. The chicken was good, although it was a lot of pasta to eat and probably would have been better with a small portion of risotto. The apps we went with were decent - fried mozzarella with heavy crust the one I tried. The deserts are well featured and my limoncello cake was a bit firm for my taste, although the flavors were nice. Overall the decor is very old school and spacious for large parties such as ours. I recently visited with a large party. They have a huge menu with a variety of offerings from pasta, poultry, seafood and steak. They have a decent drink menu/wine list as well. I opted for the fall sangria and it was delightful. It was light, sweet and cinnamony. My table ordered some apps and I tried the calamari and stuffed mushrooms. The calamari was crisp not chewy and the mushrooms were mediocre. I'm biased because I don't think sausage belongs in stuffed mushrooms. Service was friendly but slow. I don't think we ate until about 7:45 and arrived at 5:30. It was a big party for the kitchen to accommodate but our main course orders weren't taken until maybe 7:15. I went back and forth deciding what I wanted for my main dish. I was between chicken Marsala, fresh ricotta gnocchi, baked haddock or scallops and risotto. I'm a fairly good cook and can make all at home with the exception of scallops. I don't know what my problem is, but they're either over or undercooked. So I decided scallops for the win. The portions are huge and I was only able to eat half. I brought the rest home for my older son. They were a bit sandy but otherwise okay....until....about 12 hours later. My body literally self destructed. I had instant regret for not ordering the gnocchis. Those sandy scallops woke me up in the morning with a violent exit. This plagued me for a full 48 hours. At one point I desperately texted my son from the bathroom: " Did you eat the scallops yet?! Don't!!! Throw them away!!!!!" It was catastrophic and my entire long weekend was ruined by these insidious little batards. I should have just ordered the friggin gnocchis. My coworkers complained food was too salty but only one other got sick. Sadly I probably will never return except maybe for dessert or drinks. They do have an amazing variety of desserts in the express area and you can order an entire chocolate cake for 33.99. I thought that was pretty reasonable. Prices in general are pretty reasonable. About 23 of us dined. Some had drinks, some dessert, some both and it was $59 each with tip included. (Note 20% is added for tip, if split 25%). One of our party only had a card so had separate check for this reason. I typically overtip anyway so it wasn't a problem just something to be mindful of. They have their own parking lot so parking is easy and free. Overall, I just wouldn't recommend the scallops. Stick with pasta, or chicken unless you need to lose a few lbs quickly. read more

I believe that Luanne, who is responsible for catering, is the appropriate person to oversee my order. Luigi's surpassed my expectations in ensuring the accuracy of my order. After the food was delivered (on time), I observed that the salad dressing was missing and that the pasta alio was delivered as pasta with Alfredo sauce instead. I believe this was a computer error. Nevertheless, she personally drove to my residence, which is a 30-minute drive, to deliver the dressing and to replace the sauce on the pasta. Moving forward, I will exclusively have my catering needs fulfilled by Luigi's. Love Luigi's! I am from Johnston originally ... Yes, and I left the small town for the big city! I did return to my roots, fo Johnston because I had an ill elderly loved one at a nursing home nearby. So me and my husband would visit Luigi's every Sunday after seeing our loved one. We love Luigi's. It was great to shake off that dismal nursing home feeling by visiting Luigi's afterwards every Sunday. After 2 years, my loved one was called to the lord. She faced her illness with grace and dignity. So, that said, our Sundays are back to Boston, leaving Luigi's to the folks in Johnston who need to learn how to tip like a city person who knows the staff need to make a living. Tip well or if you can't, Burger King is right next door. Lol! But seriously, we never had a bad meal there and the staff was so gracious. The food is absolutely delicious! My sister tried to get Luigi's for this Tuesday after the going home mass. at St. Roberts. We have had family to get- togethers, celebrations of life for our people. We usually opt to reserve the smaller banquet room. Unfortunately, it is on a Tuesday at 11AM and they said that there would be no staff to work it on 5 days notice. Too bad. We would have loved to have had her after mass luncheon at this place we frequent weekly and have celebrated there, the life of my Grandfather, our Aunt, our beloved Great Aunt. But this time is sadly wasn't meant to be. Too bad. We are so happy with that event room. So cozy! So we will be back someday. Amazing STUFFED pizza!!! I've never had anything like the Foccacia Stuffed Pizza! Too bad it was for a limited time only. I went today for Providence Pizza Week and devoured 2 huge pieces for only $5. (The special is buy 1, get 1 free). Each piece has 2 thick, spongy slices of their focaccia bread. In between is spinach, pepperoni and cheese. But what I loved besides the airy focaccia bread is what they put on top. It had a nice tomato sauce and this unbelievable cheese sauce! I had to have one of my pieces with that stuff covered on top. If Luigi's sell these without the discount for $5 a piece, I would still buy them. Without a doubt. I can only review the cannolis I ordered. But with that being said, they were delicious and light. Some cannolis have a dryer filling due to excessive powdered sugar. Some are also cloyingly sweet but that wasn't the case with the Cannolis from Luigi's. It almost tastes like the filling has a touch of fresh whipped cream folded in for a much lighter mouth feel as well as being less sweet. Nonetheless they were delicious and I will save the trip to Boston and continue to buy them here. Also the pistachios were the perfect added touch. They weren't just this indecipherable crushed mess added as garnish. You could see the whole pistachio pieces. I love that attention to detail. read more

When we got there, the weight staff was extremely courteous and attentive to all of our needs, the restaurant has many selections of many different types of food, the hardest thing was picking what we wanted to eat, all of us got something different and everything was amazing, you cannot go wrong with any of the dishes, and they also had entertainment outside for the evening, I highly recommend Luigi's for a great night out, great food, and a very good value read more

I was so excited to finally get to this much beloved restaurant in Johnston. It was hopping on a Sunday evening and my friends and I only had a short wait before we were seated at a nice corner table. The food selection was plentiful and once we decided on our drinks and entrees I'm afraid it took forever for anyone to greet us and our server to take our order. As a matter of fact there were at least 2 other tables in our section who were seated and served well after our arrival before we got our food! We were feeling a bit frustrated. But our entrees were delicious and our server was very apologetic. We did negotiate a free dessert due to all the delays which they granted and the manager also came over and apologized for the delays in our food. I will go back and try some of their other food. Since it was a large gathering, the food was served buffet style, but the staff were very attentive to ensure that the food was brought out in small batches and constantly refreshed. It was a nice surprise when my husband said I didn't have to cook dinner, and we went to Luigi's Restaurant & Express Gourmet. We went to the take out side, ordered and ate there. I had an eggplant Parm sandwich, without the cheese (Provolone) on a torpedo roll. It was just enough, when I initially thought I would be hungry! My husband had a chicken francaise sandwich (on a torpedo), with Provolone. We shared a delicious plate of French fries. Not what we expected, with a super nice crunch and so so good! We both enjoyed our sandwiches. Really, you can't go wrong with Luigi's food. The case to order by the pound was sparse, but it was the end of the night. Yum! Yum! Yum! We visited Luigi's this past weekend while visiting friends, and I can't say enough about how good the food was. As soon as we sat down and ordered drinks, bread with oil was placed on the table. I ordered a flight of sangria and was surprised by how large the glasses were for it being a "flight". Very tasty and I recommend the champagne one for sure. We decided not to do appetizers since we were seeing the large portion sizes as other patrons were being served. Let me begin by saying no one in the US is a 5 after having food in Italy. We finally got to go to Luigi's for lunch. Not on the sandwich board, but we asked for eggplant panini. The eggplant was not breaded but had a flour and egg batter and was very good. The bread was delicious as was the sauce. I would have liked a bit more sauce.
