Stopped here for lunch after visiting the mall across the street. Our daughter has come here numerous times and told us it would be a good choice for a healthy lunch. The service is sort of Chipotle meets cafeteria style - you walked down and you tell them what you'd like whether it be a bowl, a salad or a sandwich and you watch them make it in front of you. The ambience was fast casual, but nicely put together. We were a party of four adults and one infant. Three of us ordered the try 2. We each had a different sandwich - daughter had the chicken pesto salad, I had the turkey, bacon, and avocado, and the son had a bbq brisket sandwich. We also all three had different salads. I had the cob my daughter had the chipotle, glazed chicken, and my son had the Caesar all tasted good, fresh and somewhat healthy. The only hiccup was for my husband whom I ordered a Cobb salad, not realizing they didn't have blue cheese and they subbed goat cheese, not one of his favorites, so they remade his salad with feta cheese for him. In-person ordering was not intuitive. Lots of workers behind the counter relaying order information to each other and I didn't know when to move to the next station. It was lunch time so I get that that's a busy time, but it felt unnecessarily chaotic. I ordered the chickpea vegetable soup and got three chickpeas and mostly broccoli stems which were undercooked and very hard to chew! The flavor was good though. May or may not return. read more

Okay, the curry bowl I had at this location has redeemed Cafe Zupas in my mind. My last visit at their Gilbert location was not a great one. Last month, my friends and I were dining during the steady, bustling lunch hour. The golden curry bowl- a combination of roasted cauliflower, sweet potatoes, sugar peas, arugula, micro greens, wild rice, bits of roasted chicken, topped with a golden curry soup and cashews was perfect for me! Surprisingly, the arugula (which I'm not a fan of) paired well with the other ingredients in my bowl. Inside the cafe was clean and the service was friendly but we were disappointed when the in house made berry orange drink and lemonade ran out during the lunch hour. Another visit? Yes. I am going to start by saying I did call and speak with the manager, I think it was Analisa? Anyway I called after observing one of their staff either return from break or coming into work initially but watched as she came in, went behind the counter and put on some gloves, walk to the end of the line, pull up her pants and then proceed to serve the next person in line. I reported this because it breaks all rules...first thing you do is wash your hands and get gloves, etc. and you do not touch your clothing and go back to serving. These behaviors are a 2 star but giving 3 stars because I did watch as the manager went over to talk to her and watched as she left the line and went to the back. The last few times I've ordered the Southwest Potato soup, it has gas been just thin creamy broth with little or non of the stuff listed on the menu. Very disappointing. I also got the BBQ Brisket, and the bun fell apart like it was two-day old bread. They used to be a lot better. read more

My girlfriend and I had lunch at Cafe Zupas today and it was solid! It gave me a Panera Bread/deli kind of vibe, and we were both pretty hungry so we each did the pick 2 combo with a soup and a sandwich. I chose the Mediterranean Chicken sandwich on white bread and the lobster bisque. My lady got the ultimate grilled cheese and tomato basil soup for her pick 2 with a Powerade. I went with the vitamin water for my soft drink. My sandwich was served cold but I kind of wished the chicken was served hot. The white bread was nice and soft, and it was decently filling. The lobster bisque soup was delicious, however my main complaint was that it wasn't hot enough and the portion could've been a little fuller for my preference. My girlfriend loves the tomato basil soup here and raves about it often. She said they could've gone lighter on the pesto on her sandwich, even though she loves her pesto. I was dunking my sandwich in the chipotle ranch and it was very good. Cafe Zupas has plenty of eating space, and the interior of the restaurant was pretty cleanly. Fast casual service was on point and the workers were cool. It's not my favorite place to eat but it's certainly not bad by my standards. I would come back here! read more

This restaurant is swarming - swarming! - with flies. The back wall was speckled with bugs. The Diet Coke was out. It happens, I get it. They did reconcile it by the time I was out, to their credit. The food was possibly the worst part. Salads are unappetizing. Soups are fine. And then...my daughter's chicken strips. The featured picture is of a chicken strip that is entirely devoid of meat. I like Cafe Zupas! A friend up in North PHX has always been raving about the options at that location, but I hadn't tried it. I had a customer want to meet me in the Chandler area and I found out they had a Zupas! You order at the counter and they have a great eclectic menu. Both of us got salads and brewed iced tea. Beware, the salads are huge! They also give you a great piece of bread and complementary chocolate dipped strawberry! Love Zupas but whoever is making the chickpea vegetable soup has been adding wayyy too much broccoli to the soup. This soup used to taste so good but for the last month it has been mostly just broccoli in it, making the soup taste completely different and not good at all. I got a create your own salad with mixed greens, tofu, black beans, corn, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, avocado, & strawberry vinaigrette. I got the 2 piece combo. A build your own salad and the chicken noodle soup. Both were delicious and plenty to fill me up. I added the chicken to the salad for protein and had the herbed vinaigrette dressing. The food was ordered through the app and delivered promptly. Caution, obviously the place has not heard of keeping hot food hot and cold food cold. Ordered a large bowl of the new featured Tortilla soup last night at about 6pm. Was concerned when she put it up on the counter as I never saw steam coming from it. Sat down and had some the salad we ordered and took a spoonful of the soup. Room temperature at best. Stirred it and tried again. Still not even warm. Took it up to the counter to have it warned up, Hmm, they can't do that and they didn't seemed concerned that the soup was room temperature. I asked what they intended to do which and I was met with the blank stare and no reply. I threw it in the trash and went on my way. Way too many ways to get sick, soup sitting in a vat for hours at room temperature is one of the best. I'm pretty sure the Health Dept. has laws against this. Okay, okay, it's this location. This location stands far above all the rest! LAURA AND BETHANY are so nice and have great attitudes. My grandma, who doesn't speak English very well, had never visited Zupas and had a few questions as she has specific dietary restrictions. They were patient as I translated and made suggests as to what they recommend. I even tried a new sandwich and dessert and Laura was right! I did love both! Haha It was nice to share that experience with my grandmother and she loves Zupas now, too. read more

3.5 stars I don't have Café Zupas often but when I do it's because I'm convincing myself it's healthier while still being satisfying. My go to is the try 2 combo ($10.39): whole sandwich and half soup, half salad, or half protein bowl with a French baguette and chocolate dipped strawberry. This trip I opted for the turkey bacon avocado club and Thai steak salad. My go to salad is mangoberry: greens, blueberries, strawberries, mangos and cinnamon almonds with mango yogurt dressing. Sounds oddly sweet for a salad, I know, but oh so delicious! Bf ordered the new crab avocado melt and made his own meaty salad. We also split a large Wisconsin cauliflower soup. The sandwiches at Zupas are good but not spectacular; they do the job. The thai steak salad was lackluster in steak but the veggies were fresh. The cauliflower soup *sounds* heathy but with the amount of cheese they used the large came out to 860 calories! If you're not worried about calories, it was better than cauliflower soup sounds. Quite cheesy. I like that you get a chocolate dipped strawberry with every entree and they're GIANT strawberries not wimpy ones. read more

We went in around 730 in the evening. There were a few people in line so we had to wait. Learned the reason there was a wait was because it seemed to be very understaffed. Only one person named Abbey helping the line. Taking orders and making them. She was very nice and trying to be fast but I know from personal experience that can be overwhelming. Definitely check this place out! The menu has so many options and the vegetarian sandwich and mushroom bisque are delicious! The bread on the sandwich was fluffy. It was loaded with all the good stuff - grilled tofu, Muenster, avocado, arugula, and the best was the pesto! And the soup was out of this world. I wish I could jump in a bucket of it! :-P The staff was friendly, even with us coming in the last hour they were open. And the chocolate dipped Oreos were a nice way to round out the meal. Yes, I ordered the half size but considering that was still $10, I assumed I was getting the size that comes at most other places, not this glorified side salad. And about that extra chicken? There's maybe 2oz of chicken on here. Makes me wonder how much you get with a single order. Taste is fine but I wouldn't say it's better than Salad And Go at double the price. Normally, a half size salad is more than enough food but this will leave you needing to get something more to eat. Maybe other things are good but this NOT a go-to for salads. read more
