I wanted to wait to give this location 2 tries before commenting because the first impression is not always a true reflection of a restaurant's performance overall. On the first visit I ordered a chicken caesar salad and it was not bad. The issue was that I attempted to pre-order online on my phone and the order menu would not offer curbside pickup. So I decided to call the order in and a pleasant young man assured me he could bring me my order when I arrived because on was on crutches that day. However, when I arrived and was parked directly in front of the entrance with my car, only 8ft away, I called to announce my arrival. This time a woman answered the phone and I could sense immediately a change of the cheerful demeanor that I had experienced only minutes before. She confirmed that my order was ready and I asked her could she hand it to me while I'm in my car only a few feet from their front door. She gave me much attitude and did not want to bring the card swipe to my car. She protested but conceded. The store was practically empty. I took my food and left, kinda in a not so happy mood. The 2nd visit was today. Again on crutches but this time I hobbled into the restaurant and placed my order and I opted to eat inside the restaurant. I wanted to keep it simple today. I did not want all the extra options offered. I ordered a Ranchero Wrap, "without a side." I explicitly made this a point. Yet! The cashier attempted to pressure my to buy a soup and side that it would cost as much as the original side, some chips and salsa! She said the soup would only be $4 and some change. I had to insist that I did not want the soup. Plus the side soup was so tiny it definitely was not worth the cost. I asked for a cup for water and found my way to a table and then I realized carrying a cup of water to my table was not working out to wall with crutches. None of the staff provided any assistance so I sat down and begin to think out a strategy to retrieve my water when a patron came by and offered assistance. Phew! I received the "wrap" and it basically was a regular sized tortilla cut in half and folded one time because of the size of the tortilla one could only fold one side over the other. I've never seen a "wrap/tortilla" like this before in my life and had I known I think I would have been more pleased with some of the sandwiches that I saw served to the other patrons. The wrap/half burrito/tortilla had decent flavor but nothing that made me say wow. I think that in the future if I'm in the Gilbert area I will stick to that one. I have had a tremendous amount of success and satisfaction at the Gilbert location. At the Chandler location, meh.... I've seen and experienced enough. Oh... and the store was about the 1/4 capacity and there were so many tables that had not been cleared and clean. read more

This place used to be a lot better but over the years, prices have increased and quality has declined. I'm a bit of a ranch fanatic so can be pretty picky when it comes to the right quality and flavor. Their ranch here doesn't taste even remotely like ranch. I think it's the furthest from ranch you can get. Strange? I usually just get a salad but this visit I tried dip sandwich and it was completely unseasoned and the dip tasted like they dumped powder season into cold water and served it. I took a bite or two and tossed it out. The salad itself from the build it yourself salad bar was okay but again, couldn't use ranch because of how off and unpleasant it was so had to substitute for oil and vinegar only. The service is lacking. Everyone the last few visits seems like they are trying not to fall asleep and half robotic. Zero interest in interacting and blindsided if you ask any questions. The Jason's does make good food, but pricy! I took my Mom in for lunch today, and a Reuben, a New York Yankee, with potato salad, and drinks was $49. I've had their sandwiches via GrubHub. They are delicious!! When I found their restaurant I was very impressed. It has a salad bar that is simple but full of toppings you'd want. The service is very polite and friendly. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the endless salad bar. Only to have one plate. lol!! I ended up getting a salad to go. This location still slaps. There's a lot of competition around for lunch but they are still a go to place if you are on a tight lunch away from office. Depending on the time of day, it might be difficult to get your order and eat at a table so I tend to take out on mine. Great area and easy to get in / out of but it can also be a high traffic area with some noise. read more

The meatball sandwich was amazing, and the portion size was huge. Interestingly enough the location didn't come up on Yelp when I searched by food, fast food, and restaurants when I waslooking for something to eat. I only happened to be parked at a light and saw it across the street so I knew it was there. Once I googled Jason's Deli it came right up but not in a general search. As awesome as the food was, and the restaurant was well staffed and generally clean, they do need to clean out the drains by the soda fountains next to the salad bar. Not sure how my hubs found this place but I'm really happy he did. We've been here 3 times and I've tried 3 different dishes and have not been disappointed. Hubs is a simple turkey sandwich and cup of chilli guy and his orders have always looked big and filling. I've tried Penne and Meatballs, the salad bar, and the Zucchini Garden pasta dish. I loved that the salad bar had a variety of choices. I got back to my table with a mountain of healthy goodies on my plate. I thought the spice bread bites (I think that's what it was) and the corn bread bites were adorable and the perfect bite size. I feel like this salad bar was one of the better varieties I've seen in a long time. I also thoroughly enjoyed the pasta dishes. The penne and meatballs were a good hearty dish while the Zucchini Garden pasta dish was great for a lighter option. The restaurant has plenty of seating and the staff was always nice with each of our visits. Just by circumstance, we tend to come in between the lunch and dinner rush so we never had an issue with getting a table. The only downside is the soft serve ice cream machine always seems a little wonky. Or maybe it just needs a super soft touch with the handle. WARNING, Brutal Honesty Below: If there was a way to provide a 0 star rating and still write a review, I would. First the service; the front counter reception was so soft spoken, we couldn't hear her over the standard deli sounds (refrigerators, other customers, the phone). We had to ask multiple (no exaggeration, about 7 times to repeat what she was asking). It took 25 minutes to get our food, it would not expect that from a deli. Now the food (the food was awful in short); I will try to keep this as professional as possible. The food was not good, it was not bad...it was shameful. This was probably the worst food in Ahwatukee I have yet to try. Don't believe me look at the pictures attached. My $6 kids meals were dryer than the piece of cardboard sitting outside in the 110 degree weather, it was actually hard to swallow and my kids refused to eat them. My Muffaletta was an embarrassing example of not having pride in what they served. The restaurant had clean tables and seemed to have a few customers providing a somewhat local ambiance, eating the salads (I won't rate what I didn't have, but I would not eat anything from a salad bar that looked like a tornado hit it). Gluten free and dairy light eater I used to love Jason's deli. Maybe it's this exact store but I feel like the quality slipped. My pollo Mexicano potato had WAY too much cheese. Lacked flavor and didn't have much chicken. It didn't have any spice to it. The restaurant was not quite clean and no one was there. The floors were dirty and the seating wasn't wiped off. After having time to process the entire interaction, I've decided I will not be returning (congrats, seems like that's what you guys were going for). When I said the young lady was rude, I was being kind. Let me explain what actually happened. As I was walking from the parking area to the entrance of the restaurant, the same woman who would later take my order was outside handing food to a man in a Mustang. The interaction felt odd because it didn't seem like a safe place to receive or deliver an order, and it also made me feel uncomfortable to walk across. I managed to walk across safely, but as I approached the deli, the young lady passed me. I had tripped on my pant leg, and initially, she was holding the door for me. However, as I got closer, she let the door go in my face. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it felt strange. Once inside, I was looking over the menu--it was my first time at Jason's Deli, and I found it confusing. The same young lady, who had let the door close on me, was very short with me and acted as if I was wasting her time. I finally settled on a sandwich and left. When I got home, the sauce had spilled all over the inside of the bag. It was not what I was expecting. I called the restaurant, and initially, the manager seemed pretty nice and apologetic. He told me he would refund my card and asked if there was anything else he could do. When I asked for his recommendation, he offered to send me a gift card. This was entirely his suggestion. The following day, I went to pick up the gift card, and I was greeted by the same girl, who was now blatantly rude. She rolled her eyes at me, acted sarcastic, and spoke to me in a disrespectful manner. Despite this experience, I decided to give Jason's Deli another try, so I drove across town to a different location to see if the food was any better. While the food was just okay, I ended up with an unsettled stomach that night. Still, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt due to my prior interaction with the manager. However, what really convinced me to never return was when I tried the food again yesterday. Not only was the food bad, but my stomach felt worse this time. I don't want to insinuate anything, but this doesn't seem like a very nice establishment. Lastly, it's worth noting that the manager lied. Sandwiches are often a meal that people tend to either think are easy... or too much trouble. It's either "Why would you go out and pay for one when you can make the same thing yourself?" or "It's too much work buying and pulling out all those ingredients". I tend to fall somewhere in the middle, not afraid to make my own scooby-doo tower of a sandwich, but at times entirely uncommitted to buying the separate ingredients. Jason's Deli has been a boon for the days when I'm craving a sandwich that I don't have to make myself. Usually sandwiches of the flat variety (meaning not sub sandwiches), along with some kind of salad. I've only ever known this location on Ray, and been visiting for many years... But according to their website, Jason's Deli is a chain of 250 locations operating in 28 states. I think it is safe to say they know their customers and play to their strengths in the menu they offer- Meats, carbs, salads, soups, more carbs. When it comes to sandwiches, Jason's offers choices that some might equate to "ungodly" amounts of meat. They also offer the sandwiches and sandwich ingredients that fall under the "way too much trouble to make for myself" category. Say that I weren't feeling up to slow roast beef for a french dip, make an aioli, find that specific bread type integral to a certain sandwich, commit to an entire head of lettuce, make the olive mix for a muffaletta or a salad mix of sorts (chicken, tuna, egg, etc)... Jason's are your people. They have a huge variety, they offer combos. I tend to go for a dip, pastrami's, ruebens, but also a plain turkey or club has been known to make it's way to my table (usually via delivery). I'm clearly not saying anything people don't already know about sandwiches and deli's in general already. I don't think Jason's is a life changing experience, but it is nice to have nearby. The sandwiches at this location are always decent, satisfying, and reasonably priced for what you get. More than anything, it's a safe bet and cozy deli option. I think that is probably what Jason's is, and does, best. read more

Manager of food prep, since WHEN does anyone add mustard to a Rueben sandwich, instead of Thousand Island dressing? Ewww, is all I have to say. Google the ingredients for that sandwich and nowhere will you find mustard! Did you run out of Thousand Island or Russian dressing?? Because mustard changes the entire taste and it is no longer a Rueben sandwich. I don't know what happened here, but my favorite was the Turkey Rueben (so the only difference is swapping out corn beef for turkey) which I ordered today. But it was a total disappointment. Please invest in Thousand Island (like you used to make it!) and save the mustard for hot dogs. On a positive note, I will say that my side fruit cup included the largest, sweetest strawberry and very sweet pineapples. But fix your Rueben's! read more

I've always liked Jason's deli's. The Ray Rd location is ~ 3 miles from my house, and we drop in there maybe 1-2X per month. Small, but SOLID salad bar. The sandwiches are excellent, although I might suggest splurging a couple bucks to get 2X meat. This location's salad bar is pretty small, but it's good quality. Fine by me; all places cannot be all things to all people, and I get that. I fully understand/get it that they cannot have Jason's great pudding; I'm 95% sure it's because this is just not that busy a location. I miss the pudding; and if it weren't for that (which I don't blame them for), it'd be a 5-star rating. Their potato salad is SOLID as well, almost nudging this to a 5. Still.... No blame, and I get it re: small shop. But, I miss the pudding. Pretty reasonable price, and that's with slapping on a 10% tip which I think is reasonable for a self service type place. Workers are usually friendly, the salad bar is pretty solid, and the sandwiches are great. I need to try the baked potato at some point ! read more

I was saving my carbs/calories and salivating over the pics of the overstuffed sandwiches on the website as I had been craving an eastcoast/midwest style hot corned beef sandwich. I thought I was ordering a whole sandwich as the website doesn't say the Manager's Special is a half, especially for the whopping price of $9 (w side/chips, no drink). I'm glad I didn't pay more for the other half because it wound up being so disappointing. This used to be my go-to place many years ago for hot corned beef/pastrami sandwiches so I'm not sure what happened. The amount of meat was shameful, the meat itself was pretty dry, and just super underwhelming and below average overall. I broke my 16/8 fast and splurged on carbs for this (I know wah wah me).
