Lettuce was old. Server seems to be "on" something. Everything seemed run down. This place needs a refresh.

We used to go here all the time. Every time we would hike, kayak, bike, go to the Dino park with littles, etc we would stop here after. However, the last 6 or so years, has been disappointing to say the least. They have gone downhill. Upped their prices significantly and the food quality has gone down. We tried one more time this week and I can officially say that's my last time. Ordered the fowl play, it's supposed to be a yummy turkey and sprouts, used to come on a good bun, this time they served it on a freaking hamburger bun, tiny bit of meat, no flavor.. it was terrible. They didn't have 3 of the 4 beers we asked for on their menu (and a can of beer was $8), the salad bar was terrible looking, everything was old, dry, or brown. Wife ordered the french dip, by far the worst we've ever had, almost no meat and lacking flavor. Fresh fruit.. yeah 1/8 slice of an apple. Famous mormon muffins, may be close to the same, but the honey butter sucks now. To top it off, the kid cleaning the salad bar had his pants sagging below his butt. It's disgusting and unprofessional, especially since they upped their prices and going for a "fancier atmosphere ". I'm all for giving someone a chance to work, but make them dress and look professional when handling food. He had gloves on but reached to grab his sagging pants at least 6 times while cleaning/stocking the salad bar, defeats the purpose of wearing gloves when he's touching his butt every 30 seconds. Really sad and disappointed, this used to be a family favorite, no wonder the place was empty. Nostalgia only lasts until you ruin it with poor quality. read more

Honestly I was so disappointed. First of all, they not only were not busy, but every table they sat people at weren't fully cleaned. Our table specificly was still sticky after a half dirty rag wipe down. Next. We order a side of nachos. Considering the price is more than actual Mexican restaurants, I was expecting higher quality nachos. I was again disappointed with the store bought cheese, salsa and bottom of the bag tortilla chips. All for 14.99 We then get our food: a crab salad and a burger. On the surface, they looked good, although the salad lacked toppings as the picture shows. The fact I paid 15.79 for a burger I had to put together myself was ridiculous! Not to mention the slice of apple that was soaked on meat juice. Come to also find out, they charged me 15.89 for fries on the side.. 7 fries and a small cup of fry sauce for 15.89 Bailey B. Actually a "zero star'. I was a long time resident in Ogden. Moved to W. Jordan but was in the area, I remembered how dense and multigrained the Mormon Muffins used to be. We stopped in, I ordered 2(two) muffins to go. Cashier rang it up and said "that will be 8plus dollars." I said, for 2 muffins?? I had high hopes, opened the box, there were 2 dry, flavorless smashed muffins with runny, no taste honey butter. Tasted like dry sand. WHAT A RIPOFF! The waiter brought us 7 water for 3 people and was off during the whole experience. We ordered 2 salads (mostly shredded lettuce) 2 kids quesadillas, burger and fries and a cup of chili. The waiter never told me the total and just charged my card when I handed it to him. After realizing it was $100 for this meal, I thought I was over charged and tried to call. For ambience and nostalgia, I'd rate this place 5 stars. However, for the food, that rating drops a bit. My wife and I stopped by for a mid-afternoon snack; I'd heard of the Mormon Muffin and needed to try it for myself. I ordered that, along with a bowl of soup. My wife got chips and salsa. The muffin was pretty good-especially paired with the honey butter. The soup and the chips and salsa were very clearly from a jar and not impressive. We sat next to the salad bar, and I considered eating that until I saw how old it looked: the lettuce was wilted and many of the ingredients looked sad. I couldn't justify the cost of the salad bar visit for the quality of the food I saw. Service was pretty good. Our server was friendly and welcoming. The décor is grandma-chic. I really liked the photography prints on the walls-and restrained myself from buying a few to take home. With a little TLC I think this place could be as great as it once was. We had a really frustrating experience at the Greenery. We were seated quickly, but we found the restaurant to be quite dirty. Our drinks were long empty and never refilled during our meal. We ordered a cup of clam chowder that we never received. The server did take it off the check when we asked. However, we had a coupon through the Hometown Values app. The server refused to honor it and insisted "we only take paper coupons." The coupon was completely valid. If they are going to partner with Hometown Values, they really need to honor coupons from the app--how is that any different from paper? It's 2025-this was really disappointing. read more

What a BIG disappointment. The menu looked so good online but when we got our salads we were shocked. They used shredded lettuce for the salad and the toppings were low quality and scarce. $7 for a bud light served in a can. Tried to give feedback to the server and she said the owner doesn't care. This is an historic restaurant and gift shop in the area. This restaurant has charm and old fashioned decor that many people enjoy. It's simply not my thing. The customer service is good, food is average and higher priced than similar restaurants. There are a few dishes that are classic to the Greenery, the Marco Polo sandwich and the Monte Cristo (breakfast only). The scenery and location are gorgeous but the service isn't great. Our waiter was very clearly high during work, never got us refills or multiple things we asked for and double charged us on food without even telling us what our total was when we got the bill. He just charged our card and didn't say anything. After when we saw that they had overcharged we called multiple times and every time we were told that the workers couldn't do anything (which we totally understand) and said that a manager would call us back the next day, however we never heard from the manager. Entering this restaurant & gift shop is liking stepping back in time, from the decor to the menu. The pink bathrooms remind me of my Grandma's bathroom when I was little. We had the best waitress (Tanna) who gave us such good recommendations! I was skeptical to try the famous Mormon Muffins because they are bran muffins with walnuts (and I don't like either). They really are as good as everyone says. They are so different from any other muffin you have had. Dip them in the honey butter & they make for a great treat! I think they would be a great breakfast. We took Tanna's recommendation for our meals. The Marco polo (English muffins, sliced ham & turkey covered in broccoli & hollandaise sauce) it was so different than anything I've ever had at a restaurant. I highly recommend it. My husband got the Chili Verde Enchiladas and loved it. For dessert we tried the Carmel Apple pie that my husband said is now his very favorite pie! I really liked the gift shop. We went to the Greenery Restaurant last night for a girl's night, something we've done as a family for the past 55 years. Our tradition has always been to eat, walk around, and then return for dessert. Last night, however, our experience was disappointing. After placing our order, we decided to add muffins, but our waitress seemed annoyed. This was surprising since we hadn't received our food yet, but she had already printed our checks just five minutes after we ordered. What if we wanted to add something else? When we left at 7:10 PM, we informed our waitress that we would return for dessert after we shopped. We came back at 8:00 PM, but Brittney told us she couldn't seat us, despite the fact we only wanted dessert. She explained that they wouldn't be able to take our orders and clean up by 8:30 PM when they close. I always thought closing time referred to when seating stops, not when staff goes home. To make matters worse, she claimed that dessert is the hardest thing to prepare and, since there were 15 of us, she refused to seat us. We had already spent $500 on dinner, yet she still wouldn't accommodate us for dessert. As we were leaving, we noticed her seating other people. We love the Greenery! There are lots of options to choose from, so it's a great place to go if you are with a large group and have lots of different tastes. The service was great and the scenery (if you get the right seat) is lovely! The view I'm from the windows and the outdoor seating (when it's warm out) is so beautiful! This is the place your Great Aunt has been coming to for literally decades. It's more of a lunch spot that dinner and located in a kitschy Gift emporium that was a pool / bowling alley in yesteryear. I think that's the draw. The food isn't. The burgers are just that. Nothing special, nothing fancy. They have salads or chips, no fries up in here. We ordered a nacho plate. The good twist was they had green chili's on them but other that that they were your basic meat and cheese covered nachos with a mostly forgettable salsa. I opted for the salmon which was, to be honest, horrible. It looked like chicken when it arrived and resembled a flattened breast. It was over cooked, incredibly tough, and lacked flavor. It was served with a Hollandaise sauce that resembled coagulated butter and was nasty. The only saving grace was the baked potato and garlic bread. When the server asked how my meal was I told her "not good" to which the reply was "hmm, we don't get complaints on the salmon." Okay. Nobody else in our group had anything memorable or "wow." Was horrible experience tonight, we have been going to the greenery for the last 50 years we always eat dinner and then shop and come back to eat desert after, Brittany told us we were not allowed to come in for dessert and desert was the hardest meal to plate and they wouldn't have the dishes and everything cleaned up by 8:30 so we no longer were allowed to sit down! There was a large group of us we spent at least 500 dollars for dinner & got treated so poorly. After Brittany told us we were not able to sit down for desert she ran back to the kitchen and laughed. This secret Ogden delight is an absolutely excellent date venue. The nearby trail offers some outdoorsy fun, the ersatz Rainbow Gardens shoppe provides plenty of interesting/bizarre curios to examine, and the Greenery Restaurant completes the trifecta with hometown helpings of local favorites. The food is ultimately pretty good, but varies on the day it's served; it's definitely higher-end cafeteria food. The vibe of the restaurant oscillates from quirky and cute to kind of dingy - your mileage will vary. The Greenery is an Ogden area mainstay restaurant. Its setting at the mouth of Ogden Canyon is stunning. The food, mostly delicious, is a mix of sandwiches, salads, soups and other specialities, including stake and seafood. There have been recent menu additions, including several fry offerings. On a recent lunch visit, my wife and I ordered clam chowder and their unique recipe for "Mormon muffins." Unfortunately, this time the chowder was thick and pasty with little clam flavor. Love the charm of this place, with black and white checkered floors, cafe lights, and loads of plants. The Mormon Muffins with honey butter were out of this world good, I've never had bran muffins as good as them. I have been going there for years, with my grandparents/parents. Yesterday 7/5 as we were checking out , the lady that was checking out was very nice and pleasant. Another worker than came up to the counter, was very rude, so rude I actually looked at her name tag, Rachel. As the lady was checking us out she stood behind her saying move, move, move. It was rude and uncalled for. I didn't get the name of the lady helping us( she was African American) still continue to be nice as this other lady continued to be rude and making us uncomfortable. MUFFINS REVIEW: Saw the sign for Mormon muffins on our way to the dinosaur museum and we had to stop and try it. We are visitors and new to the area, so we did get a few stares in the parking lot and at the restaurant, but we didn't let that bother us from trying the muffins! We got a 6 pack in a cute box with honey sauce. The muffins were very soft and warm, fell apart and was delicious! Definitely recommend a stop here just for the muffins. Had a great experience here. The waiter was super attentive and was very kind. The food came out super fast and their mormon muffins were great. Their honey butter is really really good. We had a very nice time. The clam chowder was also delicious. The only reason there is a 4 star is the meals weren't very big and weren't super flavorful and the chips were just basically lays so was kind of disappointed in that part of it.
