I've been coming here with my Frenchie and Pitty for 7 years now and I don't even think about seeing any other vets. Even when I moved away from downriver I still make the drive to see our vets: Doctor Shoup and Casanova are two of the kindest vets I've ever crossed paths with. They take their time, they listen, and truly treat my animals as their own. I've recommended this vet to everyone and anyone who's went has also felt the same about them. If you're looking to establish a relationship with a vet, I highly recommend Cahill. Though keep in mind.. the appointments run about 25-45 minutes behind your scheduled appointment time pretty regularly (which I cannot lie, is frustrating) but when you finally get your turn you remember why you've waited so long. The care and empathy of the two vet techs who helped me help my dog cross the rainbow bridge yesterday will never be forgotten. On one of the hardest and most heartbreaking days of my life, they were incredibly gentle, compassionate, and patient. One vet tech in particular stayed by my side the entire time, speaking softly, comforting me, and treating my dog with so much love and dignity. The wait times are something to be desired considering I had a 4:20 appointment and waited out in the lot til well after 5 to get in for cats shots ...but once inside Dr Cassanova is extremely gentle and caring towards your pet, she takes time to explain everything they are going to do or have done and our cat loves her for it . The only reason I gave it 3* is for the crazy wait time inside the truck with a cat that was stressing out in her crate in the truck ....everything on the inside is great , facility is very nice , clean and updated . It's very unfortunate that a place that should care about animals cares so little about them. Last time we waited 45 minutes in the waiting room (for a scheduled appointment), another 30 minutes for the vet in the room and another 30 minutes for his shots. It's a very high stress situation for dogs and they couldn't care less, nor do they care about my time. It's a good practice but their time management and scheduling abilities is beyond ridiculous. If the practice is running an hour behind due to extenuating circumstances, be upfront with your customers when they arrive and allow them the decision to stay or reschedule. 5 Stars for Dr. Greear (I'm sure Butto is great too, I just haven't met her yet but I've heard wonderful things) After my last vet experience, (There's a review on my page you can read if you really wanna know) I was a little skeptical of just vets in general but someone I completely trust recommended specifically Dr. Greear to me. So we made an appointment. Be prepared to wait. We waited about an hour past our appointment time, but their inviting waiting room let us visit with other pet owners and enjoy a cup of coffee while we waited. I didn't mind at all, just be prepared. I give the office staff about 3.5 stars (They quoted us a price on the phone about 200 dollars less than what we were told by Dr. Greear, which is fine, her price made much more sense), but Colleen the vet tech and Dr. Greear made up for it. Their friendly faces, and warming voices made my dogs more comfortable than I've ever seen them at a vet. You can tell they really care, and I really appreciate that. They've got themselves 2 new patients. :) read more

This office would easily get 5 stars from me if it weren't for the absolute difficulty to get your pet an appointment when it's an urgent situation. This office is beautiful, clean and state of the art, they offer alternative medicine in some cases which I love, all of the doctors that I have seen have been wonderful and caring, and the front desk is very nice as well and I know they try their best to be accommodating. However, the volume of patients compared to the staff is just too much. It is a great office if you schedule routine visits well in advance, but if you have a more urgent situation (which, let's face it, is highly probable when it comes to animals), forget about being seen anytime soon enough to actually help. Then you are stuck paying an arm and a leg to have to take your pet to an emergency or after hours vet because you couldn't get seen here promptly. They need to really think about extending their hours, adding more doctors/techs, or both. I'm going to be looking for another office because the stress that the scheduling causes both pet and owner is awful. read more

I have been taking my dog Lemon here for almost 2 years and I couldn't think of bringing her anywhere else. When I first brought her in, Dr. Butto was able to diagnosed her many issues. Lemon was able to go from all her numbers being dangerously low to perfect health in just a few months. Dr. Butto is honest, caring, and passionate about healing pets. I wholly trust her, Dr. Spiewak, and the rest of the staff with Lemon's health. My dog actually loves going to the vet because of the wonderful team there. The facility itself is clean and welcoming, and they are equipped to handle many situations and emergencies. Sometimes, you have to wait a bit past your scheduled appointment time, but it's with the understanding that your pet and others are getting the best care, including those with unplanned emergencies. Her holistic approach to certain medical issues have truly helped my cat Nellie with her constant upper respiratory problems as well as my dog Sparky with Cushings Disease. Two of the best doctors from Gibraltar Vet constructed this new facility. Dr. Grear is a fantastic orthopedic surgeon and does a great job with complicated cases. She makes sure every procedure is performed correctly and takes extra time with every pet parent. However this means if you have a late appointment it will probably not start on time. It is worth it because your animal will be in great hands. All the techs are also very good and they are open until 11 two nights a week. The office staff could use a little more training, the one I talked to did not even recognize the procedure my dog was coming in for! read more

I've been to this clinic several times. The staff behind the counter have never been warm and welcoming, but the care from the vets has been decent. Prices are comparable to other vets, and of course depending on who you see (high turnover for vets?), they can push/recommend services that aren't necessary. Part of their job I'm sure. Wait times are usually long as its also an emergency clinic. Not happy that one of my pets was put under the wrong name, and the info couldn't be found on a follow-up visit. When it was located, I was told I owed for the visit I already paid for during the last visit. I explained it to the staff, but upon checkout they tried to make me pay it again. Frustrating. If the staff were a little more customer oriented and on top of things, I might have gone back, but this isn't the right clinic for my pets. read more

I couldn't have had a better experience today. Had to bring my dog in for emergency stomach problems and was able to get an appointment on a Saturday. Got right in, the staff was exceptional. I've had to wait in the past for check-ups, but knowing that they treat emergency cases first is worth the extra wait time for non-urgent issues. My experiences here have been night and day different. In Nov 2014, I was referred for an ultrasound of my cat's liver. Everything went perfectly that day. We didn't wait long to be seen, given a tour of the facility, Dr. Butto was very nice and thorough in her exam, then my cat stayed for the ultrasound. I went back to pick her up and was shown all the images and explained the findings, which were that she had slow-growing liver tumors that do not respond to chemo. I know that accurately reading an ultrasound is difficult and felt Dr. Butto was excellent at it. The recommendation was to give her lots of love and let her live out her days as long as she feels well. 10 months later, she is still doing well. I was impressed by the entire visit and the cost was about half what I was told to expect at a vet closer to home. Fast forward 9 months. My 10 year old dog needs to be seen for an ultrasound. The short story is that each of the 3 times we went, we waited 1-2 hours in the cold waiting room (I was shivering in Aug.) with many others waiting just as long, then another 30+ minutes in each tiny, uncomfortable exam room. They didn't return phone calls, didn't remember us from visit to visit, understaffed to handle the amount of patients, the staff seemed overwhelmed and because of these reasons, didn't give the good care that I expected after my 1st visit. Our dog ended up passing away 2 weeks later. We were definitely not alone on that end result, as we witnessed in the waiting room on our final visit. For the details of our story, keep reading. An x-ray at our vet showed abnormality in the liver/spleen, we were referred to get an ultrasound. I called Cahill again after my 1st experience there. We arrived for our appt, waited about an hr to be called in and seen briefly by a vet tech. Then waited another 30+ min for the doctor. I know they take emergency patients and completely understand delays, so I dismissed this inconvenience. The ultrasound showed cancer, likely lymphoma, and there was a blood test that could confirm this, which we agreed to. Our dog was prescribed Chinese herbs, told to schedule a 1 week follow-up, that the blood test results would be ready then. Six days later at nearly 10pm, I got a phone call from Dr. Butto who started explaining the results and treatment. I spoke with her for about 5 min and told her we have a follow-up appt the next day and could discuss everything then. We had a 6:30 pm appt, sat in the waiting room for 2 hours, then moved to the exam room and waited another 30 min. Around 9pm (for our 6:30 appt), Dr. Butto came in and started talking to us for a few min, then realized who we were and said, "you were on my list of people to call tonight about the test results." I told her "you already called us last night." She honestly had no memory of talking to me the night before, seemed to not really remember us, our dog or the situation entirely. She never even touched our dog this evening who was there for a follow-up. I like Dr. Butto and believe that she cares and wants to help animals, but she really did not seem with it that night. We were given options of chemo and said yes, then told it could not be done that night because she had to stay for 1 hr after to ensure no bad reaction and it was already after 9pm. After being there for 3 hrs, we left with nothing but thoughts of what to do. I called the next morning to schedule the 1st chemo. The receptionist said she would have to talk to someone about what to schedule and call me back. Nobody ever called back. 3 days later, I called again. They figured it out and made our appt. On that day, we waited for about an hr. We were told Dr. Greear administers all chemo drugs, but I never saw her. A vet I didn't know took our dog for her chemo. The chemo was one injection and took 5 min. A vet tech brought our dog back to the waiting room and said we could go. We said that we were told we could not get this treatment last week because we had to stay 1 hr and it was too late that day. She went and talked to the doctor who confirmed, "oh yeah, oops, she has to stay for 1 hr." During this hr in the waiting room, a very upset, irate man came in yelling that he was there the day before with his dog and was sent home with nothing more than a "keep a watch and call us if needed." The next afternoon his dog was dead. I don't know their situation, but it sure seemed like there should have been something more done the day before if the dog was sick enough to die in less than 24 hrs. Sadly, our situation ended the same. We took our dog home and the next afternoon, she died. Nobody from Cahill ever called to check on her after chemo or discuss the next part of treatment. We felt like they knew she was too sick to be starting this treatment and instead of explaining that to us, just gave her the quick chemo shot, collected our $300 and that was it. Please do not go to here. An unnamed vet here diagnosed my dog (100% sure) with a spinal tumor. Suggested that the best thing to do was put him down. Second opinion, anal gland infection. That was 4 years ago, he's fine now. I've since heard many similar stories and "she does that all the time." I am utterly horrified. My husband brought our 16 year old dog in for a nose sore, the female dr wanted to do a blood panel for a baseline for future visits and scans on her abdominal. He refused stating that she is actually very comfortable and we just wanted to take care of the nose sore, she gave him ointment which cleared it up(all she needed obviously) 3 months later she was in pain when she hurt her leg and had trouble getting up and down (very painful) but couldnt get in for an appt for 2 days. I am a physical therapist and couldnt imagine making someone wait 2 days during office visits in such great pain- no referral was given-just "sorry, we are booked" i really hope the staff are never in such great pain to be told to wait such a looong time to be seen- found a new vet-totally understanding, fits you in for emergencies, not an overcrowded waiting room and doesnt try to sell services not needed-woodhaven guys! read more

This is the best vet care around! I have never had any issues with this office. Yes, the wait can be a little long at times but this is also a emergency hospital. Dr. Butto and Dr. Greear are the best! My cat needed emergency surgery two weeks ago and they took great care of him. It happened over a week-end, so they made sure and called me twice a day to give me updates on my cat and on Monday we got to go visit him. Jenny is the best Vet Tech around! She is very sweet and so caring to your pet!! I took my other cat to Dr. Butto and she took great care of her. When she had to be put to sleep if was done very caring. We were allowed to stay in the room as long as we wanted. They took us right back when we go there so we didn't have to sit in the waiting area crying and we left out a back area. While I really like this vet, I feel they are more overpriced and you have to wait a WHILE to be seen, even with an appt. We have had multiple appts, been there up to 15-20 mins EARLY and still waited 45min- 1hour post appt. Their practice is just too incredibly large. I was also a little disturbed at one of my appts. I have a smaller Dashound who barks and get anxious when someone enters the room. I like to say "Its okay, be nice" and she tends to calm right now and start wagging her tail. The vet then tells me "don't say things like that to her, you are the boss, telling her its okay is not correct." I was really put off by this. Anywho, their office is beautiful and up to date, but I just hate the waiting and the comment bugged me. read more

I'm very sad to write this review, but I feel it is my duty to other future animal lovers to spread the word. I read some of the other reviews and noticed a similar pattern. My husband and I loved Cahill Veterinary Hospital. We found this place after our golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer in his spleen. This was back in 2013. We called and scheduled an appointment to begin cancer treatment for the next week. Our golden ended up collapsing on the Saturday before our Wednesday appointment. We called Cahill and we were told to come in right away. They were so accommodating. We had just spent over 3000 dollars on surgery and ultrasounds before finding Cahill, and they worked with us financially to make sure that Nick (our golden) got all of the treatment he needed. Nick's prognosis wasn't good, but they helped us keep him comfortable while he was still here. Doctor Greear was our primary doctor, and she was so great with Nick and the entire situation, that we decided to transfer all of our animals over to Cahill. Over the years, we have spent thousands of dollars at their facilities. Not that the amount matters, but we have always paid on time, and put our trust in these people. This year has been a little tough financially for us. We were given a few months to move out of our rental, and because of our five dogs, we knew that finding another rental was going to be near impossible. We ended up purchasing our first home. Just a month into living at our new home, we found out that we are going to have a baby. This is all very wonderful, and we are so grateful for everything, but it has left us financially strapped, and we are working to build our savings back up. A few months before we moved, our cat needed emergency surgery for kidney stones. Doctor Butto was kind enough to set up a payment arrangement with us because the surgery was going to be over a thousand dollars, and we just didn't have it. Now, I am not trying to make excuses, but we were not able to pay on time for six months. Our life had changed so drastically, and my husband and I had to prioritize our bills. We new that we were going to have to put off paying for a few months to make sure that we could pay our primary bills. Fast-forward to yesterday. I called to schedule a new payment plan with Cahill and to also make an appointment for our diabetic cat, who has been breathing heavily for a week. I was put on hold for fifteen minutes. When the receptionist came back, she explained that the office manager (which must be a new thing because I don't ever remember them having a manager before) said that we either have to pay our 1500 dollar balance in full, or they will not treat our animals. This was frustrating to me because of the fact that my diabetic cat, with heavy breathing, could have something seriously wrong. I explained that we do not have 1500 dollars, but that I am happy to give them my debit card information so they can take out a payment each month. She kept insisting that I had to pay in full. I told her that it would be impossible, and requested my cat's medical records so I could take him to another vet since the situation was so emergent. She told me that she is not allowed to release his medical records until I pay in full (I was still offering to pay monthly at this point even though I wanted to go to another vet). I was so disappointed that Cahill had gotten to this point. I remember a time when it was about the animal and not the money. I want to emphasize that we are not the type of people who look for handouts, or who want to get out of a bill. Integrity is important to us, and we wanted to make good on our debt to them. One of the reasons that we moved to Cahill is because it didn't feel like it was about the money, but about the care of animals. It didn't feel like that on the phone yesterday. My cat could die because they refused treatment and refused to release medical records. I finally asked to speak to the manager, and explained myself again. She gave me the same lines, but finally signed me up for a payment plan. She offered me an appointment for five days from now. Because my cat is diabetic and heavy breathing is serious, I didn't want to wait that long. They used to take things more seriously, but were treating it as a regular situation. I ended up calling another vet that could squeeze me in the fallowing day, but I still needed his medical records released. Finally, I called back and spoke to a veterinary technician who understood the severity of the situation. After speaking to the manager again, he was able to release just my cat's records for his diabetes. I now live an hour and a half away from Cahill. I was still going to make the drive with my pets, because they meant so much to us. After this incident, I feel that it is time for us to find a more accommodating doctor, that puts the animals first, but I worry that I am up for battle trying to get my animals medical records! read more

This is the only veterinarian we take our baby girl (Cappi) to, they are the best. Dr Greear and Dr Butto are fantastic. You can trust them with your family members because that is how they treat your pets, as a member of your family. Their knowledge is extensive and the care and love they show towards their patients put you at ease. I have had them caring for our pug for almost 9 years. We have since moved 1 1/2 hours away and still drive down for her visits. I highly recommend them. They take the time to exam and get to know your concerns, because it really matters to them.
