New place opened in University village area and after what we experienced we'll be back next time we're in the mood for some Shawarma or something new off the menu the sandwich came with beef onions and pickles which was a great taste combo with the spices of the beef the fries were average me I like mine a little more crispy but I'll ask next time. No matter where I go for Mediterranean food I always get an order of hummus and this hummus was very smooth and had decent flavor they make the bread in house just a little dry and crumbley for My taste We walked in and placed an order to go and ordered there and waited about 15 minutes the place is setup really nice good for small and big parties very well decorated with pictures from Egypt We didn't dine it but it wasn't loud or obnoxious so it's a nice quiet spot where you can actually have conversations without yelling and the person across from you Good new spot hopefully it sticks around for a while read more

Solid place for a filling Egyptian style meal. Menu has more items than the first location, so that's a plus. Servers are kind, if a bit inexperienced, but they make up for it in effort and enthusiasm. It's also prettier inside than the first branch. If you're post hangover or running a marathon tomorrow, I recommend the Koshari for carb loading and a solid food coma. This is where I'd go if I were hungry after work and especially if it's winter. Oh my god. The NEW go to spot. Everything was amazing from the baba ghanoush to the koshary. The baba ghanoush was $8 and I got one at Beatrix on the river which was probably 3x this one. I would pay way more than $8 for this baba ghanous. And the texture contrast in the koshary: crispy onions and the softness of the pasta was amazing. I was beyond excited when k saw this place opened up last year. Having come back from Egypt I was on a very serious hunt for koshary! Now Chicago at last has and Egyptian restaurant that serve legit koshary. Everything was amazing! The koshary was perfection with all of the sauces and perfect amount of each ingredient. They also had a mint lemonade drink that was so tasty and refreshing. I knew it was gonna be good when I saw that the majority of the patrons were Egyptian! The decor gives you a feeling being in Cairo as well down to the plates and cups. The menu has the majority of the Egyptian staples. The service was impeccable with our waiter being so friendly and accommodating. The chef even came out afterwards to ask how we enjoyed ourselves. Clearly they care about you enjoying yourself and their food and want to ensure the best quality and highest level of service. I will be back to satiate all of my koshary cravings which is so much more cost effective than flying back to Egypt. So thank you very much Cairo Kebab! read more

Was looking for a Mediterranean place to eat near Bridgeport and I ended finding this place on Google maps, saw a lot of positive reviews so I went for it. The ambience was a medium cozy sized place, the ambience serves for a great date spot or comfy family dinner. I asked the server if she would recommend the Koshary and she said it was the go to comfort food of the restaurant. So I had my eyes set to order the mezza as the appetizer and Koshary as the main dish as the mezza arrived first the baba ganoush and hummus were roasted to full flavor the tabbouli was very mint and fresh and the falafels were crispy and delicious. Then the Koshary came as the mound you see in the picture sauce was offered to the side the Koshary by itself was a great combination of flavors strong reminds me of soft noodles with good amount of chick peas the lemon vinegar sauce added to it enhancing the flavor that it lacked, not too tangy or strong to overpower it, great compliment. It was a large portion would definitely be good for two people. As things were winding down I asked for dessert and I was recommended the basbousa apparently shipped to from Egypt so I gave it a try. Soft and reminiscent of a butter cookie. Sweet but not too strong in that factor. All in all great meal service was great servers were attentive and they check and see how the meal was. I would recommend this place who wants to try Egyptian food and also have a lot of great Mediterranean flavors! It's located in the cut; low key. The food was sooo good. I'm a little bias because I haven't had any real authentic food lately. However please believe me, the hummus with lamb/beef was the best. Delicious traditional Egyptian food - they have many homestyle dishes you can not find in other middle eastern restaurants. I highly recommend the Koshary with Shawarma added. The dish is hearty with rice, chickpeas, lentils, macaroni, a homestyle tomato sauce, and crispy fried onions to top it off. Delicious and would definitely be back for this dish. The inside is newly renovated and has a very nice sit down atmosphere and service was fantastic. my family and i are jordanian, and have been trying to find a good arab food/mediterranean place in chicago for a while now, and this is probably our favorite one so far!! (and just in general). the koshari had a lot of flavor, and the hummus was one of the best we've had. the chicken shawarma came with fries which was really nice, and you get a lot for the money. they're very good portions, and the service was really good as well, id definitely go back. read more

This place has been next door to my office foe a bit. I finally went today. I tend to do carry out as I'm at work. It was incredible! I had the beef and lamb Sharma and babaganoosh. This may be the best Sharma I have ever had. It was incredibly well seasoned. It came with fries which were actually more than just filler. They were really nice and crunchy. The babaganosh was very good. I mainly got it to see how it was. I can't find it in stores, and I can snag some for the weekend. My friend had the Egyptian salad, which she said was very tasty and she was very impressed with the dressing which was light and not overwhelming. I plan to go again. It had a decent number of people getting lunch. If you are doing Carry out consider calling the order in. I waited 25 minutes, not an issue for me but maybe for you. The place is pretty attractive. Tried Cairo Kebab using UberEats. I have to say that the delivery was quick and earlier than expected. The lentil soup was delicious, had some potatoes and carrots in it. The chicken shawarma was better than any shawarma I have had in the Chicago area, the bread and the garlic sauce (toum), were very authentic to not just Egyptian cuisine but all the Middle Eastern restaurants that use tartar sauce or bland white sauce or aioli for chicken are doing it wrong. Cairo Kebab is the only one doing it right, staying authentic to the core. The rice with vermicelli noodles, also adds to the authenticity.
